Michael Lohan is forlorn. He might have lost his latest meal-ticket/best friend when Jon Gosselin when Jon seemed to run screaming away from the insanity of Kate Major and that whole episode. It seems like Michael’s idea for a reality series called “The Divorced Dads Club” has crashed and burned. So what’s next for Michael? The old stand-by, hitching himself to his daughter, Lindsay.

Page Six is reporting that Michael showed up at an event in Bridgehampton over the weekend – and event that Lindsay was attending. According to sources, Michael was all over Lindsay, “talking into her ear” as she tried to schmooze. One person noted, “It looks like he’s stalking her.” Gross:

Lindsay Lohan didn’t look happy to see her father, Michael, Saturday night at the breast cancer benefit at fotog Steven Klein’s Bridgehampton horse farm. While she was trying to talk to Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Kim Cattrall and Andrew Balazs, he talked into her ear, almost ignoring her younger brother, Michael.

As soon as the elder Michael backed off, a bodyguard stood near Lindsay, prompting one spy to note, “It looks like he’s stalking her.”

Lindsay went later to Amy Sacco’s bash at Pink Elephant, where she diplomatically told us, “I’m closer to my mother.”

The next day, Lohan Sr. bumped into Hampton Sheet publisher Joan Jedell at 75 Main in Southampton and reversed his criticism of Lindsay’s gal pal Samantha Ronson: “I was misled by people who had their own agenda . . . I was wrong and I’m very sorry. I wish the best for them.”

Meanwhile, Lindsay might be stalking Britney Spears. If ever a time for Lindsay to shout “I learned it from watching YOU!” at her father, now seems to be it. Lindsay and Brit hung out two weekends ago, and Lindsay seems to be pushing for more time with Brit, via Twitter:

Looks like Samantha Ronson has some competition on her hands! Lindsay Lohan wants to hang with Britney Spears whose been looking scorchingly sexy in the past few weeks.

There’s no doubt the pop princess has got her groove back in more ways than one and Lohan is paying attention! Lohan reached out to the Spears on her Twitter page, writing, “When’s the next la show? Had such fun with you last Sunday!”

As RadarOnline.com reported, Britney and Lindsay hit the town together while the pop star was a break from her worldwide tour. The pair met up at the Byron Tracy Salon where they got matching blond weaves before later heading to a nightclub in Hollywood.

Gah! Just when I get a little sympathy for Lindsay – because I can’t even imagine the hell of having Michael Lohan for a father – she shows us that she’s still the same old cracked-out mess that we know and take pity on. There’s something that just occurred to me – don’t Michael, Dina and Lindsay seem to exhibit the same predatory nature? For Michael, it’s hanging on to a meal ticket and soaking up whatever publicity he can get. For Dina, it’s all about being “the same” as her daughters, being as famous as them, being a “star” and being their enabler rather than their mother. Lindsay has learned those lessons well.
