Miranda Kerr covers the September issue of Shape Magazine. September 2020, although with that hairstyle, you would think it was 1997. I’ve always thought Miranda is legitimately beautiful in a doll-like way, but that hair, yeeeesh. Anyway, I have no idea what Miranda is promoting beyond her Kora Organics skincare line, so that’s probably it. She chatted with Shape about her self-help book vibes, waking up to a detox smoothie, charitable donations and more:
Her mornings: “I wake up at 5:30 a.m. and have 32 ounces of filtered water with lemon, 32 ounces of celery juice, and a heavy metal detox smoothie . I’ve been doing kriya yoga meditation for years, along with yoga stretches. Then a shower and self care with Kora products. I’m done before the kids wake up, and I’m ready for my day.”
On motherhood: “Being a mother makes me feel strong. You would do anything for your children, no matter what. There’s so much strength in that.”
She’s a leader who listens: “Knowing my strengths is really important. I try my best to listen to my team, because to be a good leader, you have to be a good listener.”
Giving back: “We… support Harvest Home, a shelter for pregnant women and new mothers in Los Angeles, and the Royal Hospital for Women in Australia. As a family, we donated to 29 organizations [when the coronavirus pandemic began], and Kora is part of the BeautyUnited initiative for first responders in America and Australia. We had already been donating to the Equal Justice Initiative. We also donate to Black Lives Matter and the NAACP.”
She has an 80-20 rule. “You can eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and organic produce, but being happy and enjoying that food with others is just as important. I apply that in all areas of my life. I’m like 80 percent good girl and 20 percent naughty.”
When Gwyneth Paltrow talks about eating French fries and guzzling martinis, I actually believe that she “cheats” on whatever her diet is that way. But Miranda? I’m sorry, her version of “naughty” food is probably like “put two black olives on the salad, mama’s feeling crazy!” As for how she starts her day… honestly, covering all of these celebrity interviews did make me change my morning routine. I really do start every morning with regular water now, and I guess I should probably start adding lemon to it. But a heavy metal detox smoothie? Ugh. I could NOT first thing in the morning.

I kind of agree and disagree with this. Thanks to modern living a lot of women have down regulated phase 3 and 4 liver detox.
Green smoothies, especially those with green/ cruciferous vegetables can help to aid liver detox. They have compounds which actually bind up the bodies used chemicals by conjugating them. Look into DIM (Diindolylmethane ) a compound often used in supplements use to aid hormone metabolism.
That said the amount of smoothie points to a form of disordered eating.
Yeppppppp and if your Liver and Kidneys aren’t doing the job then you’ve probably got bigger problems than your diet.
Detox juicing and juice cleanses are just gateway diets to eating disorders and I will die on this hill.

And there’s no juice that’ll get you rid of heavy metals, not that you need to unless you live in a super polluted place and then you have bigger problems to deal with
The “wellness” industry knows how to fleece. Juicers. Books. Classes. Yoga & associated accessories. That said, mainly the wealthy can afford this brand of “wellness”- I wish our Covid response included nationwide mobilizations for access to both fresh whole nutritious foods & breathable air
Thank you! I wish people would stop using “detox” as a euphemism, and call it what it really is: a crash diet. It’s low calorie mixed with laxative ingredients. People have been starving themselves and abusing laxatives to lose weight for centuries, but it is not safe and can really mess up how your organs function. Please stop using the misleading title “detox.”

If I drank that much in the morning then did yoga I’d be running to the restroom after every pose. As it is I drink 25 oz an hour or so before I go to the gym and have to go multiple times, including right before I leave the house and again when I get to the gym, a whopping 7 minutes later.
Celebrity’s morning routines make me tired just from reading them.
She probably drinks the medical medium smoothie and it’s actually so delishous! wild blueberries, banana, oranges, dates, spirulina, dulse and cilantro (or parsley). I am not a medical medium believer, but drink this smoothie regularly since a friend made it for me and it’s just so good
Yes, she’s totally a MM supporter and has featured him on her IG (doing his celery juice push, if I recall correctly). Most of the stuff he pushes seem harmless and the heavy metal detox smoothie does sound delish; must get around to making it one of these days (also note there are peer-reviewed studies confirming cilantro does have chelating properties). However, I read his third or fourth book and he was completely wrong about a particular chronic disease, which made me go off him completely. I believe he has some sort of spirit attached to him (I have no trouble believing in ghosts and the supernatural) but I don’t believe he’s a miracle healer – just my opinion. Also $500 or whatever it was for a healing session seems excessive. Again, I have my doubts about the MM but will add the caveat that following his recipes for maybe 80%, 90% of your diet will probably do a lot of good for most people.
On Miranda’s “naughty” eating, I’ve seen her post a pic of herself with a big plate of steak and chips. I do believe it’s more like 5%/95% for her. She most prob has staff doing all that juicing and smoothie-making for her – in addition to an unlimited budget for food and supplements – so it’s easy for her to be so “clean.” Personally, I keep it simple these days with fasting and eating one light meal (fruit platter) and one big meal (anything I like, but always with vege, carbs, and protein) within a 6-hour window. I have a slow metabolism so it’s weight maintenance, as long as I eat a big dinner. Very time-saving but will get into smoothies more soon, maybe on weekends especially. I never juice; my philosophy is that’s for people with special needs like digestion problems who need a big hit of this or that. Smoothies use the whole fruit/vege, leading to minimal waste, and make things more bioavailable. There are definite benefits to smoothies.
It’s a waste to drink that much in a short amount of time. Your body can only absorb a certain amount of fluids in an hour, depending on your weight I think. But maybe this whole routine takes over 2 hours, who knows.
I like her products btw. Didn’t think I would but here we are.
Please stop with the ‘detox’ nonsense. That is what your body does for you, like it or not.
I’m also guessing she then spend the rest of her morning in and out of the bathroom because that is a ridiculous amount of liquid.

Just came here to say that too much acid on your teeth every day can be really damaging. Same with the Apple cider vinegar shots everyone is into. I’ll do something like this once a week but every day? Not good for your enamel folks. All things in moderation

I’ve been sort of a fan (of her eating and lifestyle habits) and I do believe her but I think it’s even stricter than she says. I think she’s more 95/5. She was raised eating organic and “clean”; her mum’s the same.
I’ve always found Miranda to be an interesting person, and she has always focused very heavily on her version of a clean lifestyle. I’m curious to see how she ages? So many celebrity women seem to panic and end up with the same puffy weird face. I can’t see Miranda taking that route though. She still looks good.
I live in NZ and when The Hobbit was being shot, we went out for dinner and Miranda and Orlando were at the same small restaurant. He ate dinner but she just drank whiskey. She didn’t look real irl. And she was sooooo tiny.
