Robert Jobson: The Queen will abdicate on her 95th birthday next year?

The Queen attends a ceremony to mark her Official Birthday

It appears as if the Queen is still massively popular, even if she’s been outed as a petty, hateful colonizer who would rather protect a rapist human trafficker than her grandson who married a biracial American. I thought Andrew Morton’s assessment months ago would turn out prophetic, that the pandemic meant that the Queen’s reign was effectively over. But she’s shown us repeatedly during the pandemic that she doesn’t give a sh-t how many people she inconveniences, she’s still going to run around maskless and travel to Balmoral for no reason, and she’ll still cling to power no matter what. So spare me with this annual conversation of “the Queen will probably step down on such-and-such date.” That Petty B isn’t stepping down. But here you go:

The Queen will stand down and hand over the Monarchy to Prince Charles when she reaches the age of 95, a leading royal commentator has claimed. Speaking exclusively to The Royal Beat, available on True Royalty TV, royal commentator Robert Jobson says that Diana, Princess of Wales thought she was ‘more powerful than the Queen’ in the run up to her 1995 BBC Panorama interview. He also describes Prince Harry’s recent comments about his subconscious racial bias as ‘bare-faced hypocrisy.’

The royal biographer adds: ‘I still firmly believe when the Queen becomes 95, that she will step down.’ Newsweek Royal Reporter Jack Royston continues: ‘I think she won’t want to, but realistically she will get to a point where she has handed over everything to Charles and then how do you look your son in the eye and tell him he is not going to be King?’

Jobson’s comments come just before the 25th anniversary of Diana’s infamous 1995 interview with the BBC’s Panorama. ‘That period between the separation announcement [of Charles and Diana], she [Diana] actually was on the ascendancy of getting everything she wanted. But she did this [Panorama] and I think she thought she was more powerful than the Queen. The Queen thought enough was enough and the shutters came down.’

Following on from Harry’s comments on the subject of his own subconscious bias this week, Jobson says: ‘I find this bare-faced hypocrisy, coming out from them [Harry and Meghan]. I remember him making racial slurs about an Asian officer which was filmed by himself and distributed by his friends and he had to apologise for making racial comments. I find Harry telling everyone else that they are structurally racist hypocritical.’

Jobson also goes on to discuss recent reports about Prince Andrew potentially returning to royal duties. ‘Can he come back from this? No. No way can he come back from this,’ he says. ‘He has to be cleared by the FBI. If he goes over there, he opens himself to a large can of worms. Whatever he was doing at the parties was unsavoury. Andrew’s association with Epstein leaves him totally exposed.’

[From The Daily Mail]

I think Harry would be the first to admit – and has been the first to admit – that he’s been problematic and stupid in the past. He’s not even claiming to be the wokest person in the world now. He’s merely talking about his journey to understanding modern racism and modern bias. He’s exhibiting his growth as a man and trying to draw attention to the right conversations and topics. THAT is what irritates all of these old farts. The fact that the problematic, damaged young man grew up and became a better person and he wasn’t content to be a pawn in their shenanigans.

As for the Queen sh-t… yeah, again, she’s not going to abdicate. What will happen is what is already happening, and what’s been happening for years now: what amounts to a Charles Regency. Charles takes on more and more of the monarch’s duties, but she’s never giving up the Crown willingly.

Hi Kaiser, OML… I’m so tired of people trotting this story out every few months. It’s not going to happen. Liz might not lift a finger or appear in public ever again, but she will never abdicate. I don’t think people get how reprehensible “abdication” is to her. She will sit in her castle(s) till her death. 1. Her coronation speech. 2. Her uncle’s abdication – Liz is still salty AF about that, and will be till her dying day. She promised us “her whole life” and by god, we’re going to get it

    • Bibi says:

I agree. The coronation speech, she is going to cling until the last minute and also, the petty in her doesn’t want to see Camilla as the somewhat “queen” while she is alive.

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

I think it’s more that the Petty Cow doesn’t want to leave Mummy’s Favorite Boy to the fate of Charles’ reign one second before she has to give up shielding him. The ONLY
things that selfish beyotch seems to care about is Pedo, her dog (I think there’s only one left?), and her horses. The rest is just noise, or there to make HER life more comfortable, everyone/thing else be damned!

    • Betsy says:

I agree with you, but am I the only one who thinks it’s a bit silly that she basically can’t do the job anymore but won’t just officially give it to her heir? I mean it’s just the weirdest thing.

      • SofiasSideEye says:

She tries to pass this off as her service to the people, but this is all ego 100%. She will never step down, not for anyone.

    • BnLurkN4eva says:

I think all that talk of abdication being reprehensible and promising to give her whole life is nonsense. The truth is, she loves the power and won’t give it up willingly, which is why she will remain Queen until she dies, or some behind the scenes wrangling overthrows her and force her to retire. These people are power obsessed first and foremost and I have seen nothing from them to indicate that they willing serve for the love of service rather than as a means to survive in their luxury.

      • NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

You’re not wrong but I think that wrangling you discuss is already happening with CH and BP. If the PM becomes involved, it will happen but I think Bo avoids her as much as possible. I can even see BoJo verbatim telling her “After all of the bad press, Harry, excessive expenditures this year, and having to hide William’s [dark secrets, gardening hobbies, etc] even further into the depths of hell. I must advise that you abdicate or allow Charles to be the regent.” She would be obligated to legitimately consider it (the courtiers would hound her into her grave if she refused).

Also, I just want to say that if anyone inside the palace had any shred of forward thinking this would be the plan because it would secure the monarchy’s future. No one would dare mess with Charles if she was still alive.

      • Gm says:

Agreed. It’s all about power. She is not going to let go of it. The same will go for Charles one day. To be fair I wouldn’t either though it’s self serving.

    • Chaine says:

She has no sense of self or identity apart from being a queen of England. That’s why she won’t abdicate.

    • Tessa says:

This rumor has been put out for 20 years now. Tired of it. I want her to be on longer so William does not move up

    • Elizabeth Phillips says:

I think she wants to break Louis XVIV’s record as long-reigning European king or queen. She has four more years to beat that record.

    • OnceUponA says:

      Never happen.

As we all know, Lillibet will hand over more and more to Charles and wait out her life without stepping away. She’ll never walk away while she’s still breathing.

I like Charles more than most people do. He’s a bit of a dork, but I think in terms of his duty his heart is in the right place.

That said, I’d love to see the RF retired after QEII expires. William is neither up to the job nor worthy of it. Neither is Kate.

      • Tessa says:

I just don’t get why Charles let William run roughshod over Harry. He should have stopped it and made sure the Sussexes stay. I hope when he is King he does not continue to coddle William.

      • Elizabeth Phillips says:

I like Charles, too, because I’m also a dork.

    • PrincessK says:

Rubbish, that oaf Jobson knows nothing. Any idiot knows that as the Queen gets older and older more responsibility will pass to Charles. Everyone knows she is not abdicating. Non story!

  2. Astrid says:

Since she has hung on for this long, I don’t see her abdicating.

  3. Seraphina says:

I so agree that she will not step down. If she is being told she is more popular than the rest of the BRF, she will still on to save her family’s reign over the British monarchy.
And in reading what Petty Betty is like, there are a lot of parallels between her and Trump.

  4. Elizabeth Regina says:

Jobbo is Charles’ mouth piece. This might be a way of forcing the queen’s hand. She is 95 but it appears like the crown will have to be prised from her hands as she will not willingly give it up. It will mean that her pride and joy of a son Andrew might be banished to the cottage by his older brother or worse still handed over to the US authorities although I doubt that very much. William (egged on by his wife) will also be angling for the crown so he can usurp his father and lord it over his whipping boy of a brother. Anne and Edward will be side eyeing everyone. If this was a soap opera you wouldn’t believe it.

    • Tessa says:

Charles better watch out if he’s doing that. I think William will sneak around undermining him the whole time. He already is doing that.

    • notasugarhere says:

I don’t think Charles is behind this. As Tessa writes, it only gives William more ammunition to try to get Charles to abdicate soon after being crowned. An informal Charles regency is more likely.

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

It is! It’s “The Windsors” lolol

  5. Bettyrose says:

No opinion on Liz, but I find Harry’s transition into the modern world endlessly fascinating. They’re frozen in time while he’s stepped through a portal into 2020.

    • Capepopsie says:

I agree and I’m really so Happy for him and Meghan that they’ve come so far together. 👌

  6. Mignionette says:

This is never going to happen. Not whilst there is a prospect of prison for Paedo Andy.

  7. Lauren says:

She will die before she lets go of that crown. I really hope that Charles is the last. The Windsors have got to go.

  8. Miss617 says:

Like others have said, I don’t think she’s going to abdicate. The most I could see her doing is naming Charles Prince Regent (a title last used by George IV on account of George III’s madness).

And what is it with these old farts and thinking they have something on Harry because he was a privileged racist shit in his early 20s? Clearly they’re just mad that he grew up to be a better person than them.

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

Since the rest of them are in a state of arrested development (in the last CENTURY) and don’t show any growth/change, they can’t understand how Harry got his feet unglued and actually GREW UP and MATURED.

  9. Amy Bee says:

Jobson sounds unhinged. But I believe clarence house is pushing for the queen to abdicate next year.

  10. Val says:

Why not now? This is one petty old lady.

    • Kitten says:

“It appears as if the Queen is still massively popular, even if she’s been outed as a petty, hateful colonizer who would rather protect a rapist human trafficker than her grandson who married a biracial American.”

This sentence deserves its own award as the perfect character summary.

  11. Golly Gee says:

True or not, this is likely coming from Charles, since it is Jobson reporting it. In the PR battle for the throne, William has egg on his face with the whole Covid debacle. This is the perfect time for Charles to remind everyone that he will be King next, and possibly next year. Although Liz may hang on in order to keep Andrew from being tossed out on his @ss by Charles.
Maybe Andrew being kept on in some capacity will be negotiated into her handing over the throne! Hmmm.

    • notasugarhere says:

No, it is less likely it comes from Charles. More likely from William if anyone. Charles does not want people getting the idea that abdication due to age is how the BRF will do things moving forward. That gives William ammunition to try to force Charles off the throne.

      • Becks1 says:

Good point Nota. If the monarch abdicates due to age, then William is really soon going to start pushing for Charles to abdicate (ignoring that even if the Queen abdicates at 95 and Charles follows that precedent and abdicates at 95, William still has over 20 years before he’s king.) but he would probably push for Charles to abdicate much sooner.

      • Lorelei says:

        @Nota I hadn’t thought of that, the precedent-setting aspect. That’s a good point.

But two things — won’t William be content to be POW for as long as possible, because he gets a ton of the money, but still less work than the monarch? It seems to me that’s Bill’s ideal situation and he would be happy to languish there as long as possible, because once he’s king, there are so many duties he simply will not be able to just opt out of because he feels like it.

Plus, the Queen has a specific reason for needing to stay — protecting Andrew. She knows Charles won’t do it like she does. IDK if Charles would go so far as to hand him over to the FBI, but he’d likely banish him — and Fergie — forever. (Although I guess she could make a deal with Charles that she’d step down only if he agreed to certain conditions re: Andy and force Charles’s hand that way.)

I know that many people believe she’d never abdicate because of the trauma of her uncle and maybe that’s true, but I don’t know how any sane adult can’t see the difference between the situations. She’s done her duty for decades and decades, it’s not as if she’s 25 and flitting off to another country to marry someone unacceptable or whatever, wreaking havoc on the monarchy. She would be stepping down while she was still revered and beloved by most people, and no one would ever say she was trying to avoid her duty at this point. The circumstances are so COMPLETELY different that it seems like such a weak argument to me. (Plus, you’d think at some point she would want to let Charles *finally* have his turn. But then again there’s the Andrew issue, so who knows.)

  12. Becks1 says:

huge eyeroll at the comments about Harry. these people are so obtuse. The reason, IMO, that Harry CAN talk about racism the way he does is because he HAS changed. He’s from an incredibly racist family, he made some major mistakes in the past, and he is growing and learning and changing. I would rather listen to someone like that talk to me about structural racism, who acknowledges how he has benefited from it, than someone like William who is just “fed up” with it.

As for the Queen – I am inclined to think this is BS, but what Jobson is saying is very careful – that she is basically going to hand over all the duties to Charles so how, at that point, can she keep him from the throne? “now you do all the work and all the responsibility is on you but haha you cant have my crown.” She and Phillip could retire to Sandringham and have a quiet few years before they die.

Anyway – I keep coming back to a very specific tweet from Peter Hunt in January – about how the year review for Sussexit would be in March 2021, and “what was unacceptable now to a 93 year old monarch might be more acceptable when the Queen is 95 and Charles is in control.” The exact wording might be wrong, lol, but he specifically mentioned the queen being 95 and Charles then calling the shots. So it will be interesting to see. In general I am of the mindset that the queen will never abdicate, but I guess its always possible, even if not probable.

    • Noodle says:

@becks1, I agree with you. Harry’s comments are not indicting a system and ignoring his own complicity. He admits he has done some reprehensible things. The fact that he can admit and grow from that, AND that structural racism exists and is deeply harmful to people, can both be true. It’s not either/or.

      • Lorelei says:

I agree with Becks too. The comments are actually meaningful coming from Harry because he very publicly did engage in some racist behavior in his past. He acknowledged it, learned from it, and moved on. Obviously it became way more personal once his wife and child were involved and he saw their treatment. That shows more character than someone like William just spouting something out because he thinks it will make him sound “woke.”

      • Amy Too says:

Yeah the dig at Harry doesn’t make any sense.

Harry: there is structural and institutional racism and implicit bias. I didn’t even recognize that these things had affected me, I had internalized them, and that I had been racist and had implicit bias until I met my wife.

The Press: Nonsense! Hypocrite! What about those times you were racist!?

Seriously? He…. he SAID he had bias, he said he was affected and shaped by racism. He said he had done racist things. How is it some kind of come back meant to discredit him by mentioning how he used to do/say racist things? And how can they keep denying that there’s bias and structural/ institutional racism when they’re constantly reminding us of all the racist things Harry, a literal part of the institution, raised by the institution, working within the institution did?

  13. Als Em says:

Why do they always have to mention Princess Diana or Harry or Meghan whenever they report on a member of the royal family. Aren’t they popular on their own?

    • Amy Bee says:

No, they’re not but the press doesn’t want to admit that.

      • lanne says:

Diana Harry and Meghan are their meal tickets— if there’s a way to link any story to those three, they will to ensure clicks.

  14. Courtney B says:

Isn’t Harry’s statement the opposite of hypocrisy? If it was hypocritical he’d be lecturing everyone else without acknowledging it in himself. Plus I don’t think he’s lecturing in the first place just acknowledging his own journey towards understanding and pointing it out.

    • equality says:

My thought exactly. And notice none of the “royal experts” point out William’s hypocrisy in environmental preaching and still participating in the huge grouse hunts.

  15. Ainsley7 says:

This is very much what Charles wants to happen. Jobson has a lot of contacts in CH. He came out with 2 books on Charles recently. One in 2018 called Prince Charles at 70: Our Future King and King Charles: The Man, the Monarch and the Future of Britain in 2019. They were both definitely semi-authorized and likely low key requested by Charles.

    • Tessa says:

Jobson did make some unkind comments about Meghan and Harry in one of those books. I hope that he was not encouraged by Charles to say that. He is the one who said whatever Meghan wants Meghan gets and claims HARRY said it.

      • farfromrealitytv says:

I actually think Harry did say it, and in exactly the tone one might imagine, but only after Meghan had gotten push back on a LOT of things. I could see myself, in the heat of anger saying, look, whatever X wants, X gets, are we clear? Especially if I were, say, dealing with an Angela Kelly (sp?).

    • notasugarhere says:

No, Charles does not want the BRF to set the precedent of abdication due to age. William might want that, so he can shove Charles aside and grab the power for himself.

Abdication also puts the inheritance of the private funds in jeopardy. They are only tax free if inherited from monarch to monarch. Not from former monarch who hangs around for another decade before dying to person who has been new monarch for a decade.

  16. February-Pisces says:

She will never ‘abdicate’ that’s too strong a word. Abdicating to her would be worse than divorce. I think what will happen when she turns 95 is that she will step back from doing bread and butter engagements, and just show her face at the big events like trooping the colour. Charles will step up more, but he still won’t be king until she’s dead. I imagine when the queen does slows down, William will be pushing his regency campaign again.

  17. Feedmechips says:

How is it hypocritical to acknowledge one’s own racism? Am I missing something??

    • BnLurkN4eva says:

They all hate that Harry is not the foolish young man he used to be and instead has grown and is continuing to evolve into a better person. They preferred the foolish young man and hope by continually bringing it up stupid people will ignore logic and comprehension and buy what they are selling, which is hate Harry and Meghan, love the royals in England.

      • equality says:

I guess they are encouraged by the fact that some readers do buy into their thinking. You can bring up a scandal of any other royal and posters on SM will rush to say “that was years ago” but anything on Harry is brought up like it was yesterday and like he hasn’t apologized endlessly for various misdeeds.

  18. Sofia says:

I very much doubt she’s abdicating. This is most likely coming from Charles to try and drum up support so he can try and go to mummy and say: “see mummy! They want me as King and for you to abdicate!”

    • lanne says:

Queen Victoria was a selfish, small-minded, whiny shrew who only ever saw what she wanted to see and heard what she wanted to hear. She was able to live a life of complete delusion because no one could question or contradict her. I imagine Elizabeth is the same way. For 65 years, she has likely been coddled, flattered, and “yes ma’am’s” into thinking the world revolves around her, and sees only what she wants to see of the outside world. She likely has no sense of empathy, no ability to see any other point of view. She’s lived a life of tedium surrounded by mediocrity, and has never had any of her own beliefs challenged in any substantial way. She’s barely educated. She has never been called to be anything other than she actually is. Dull, steady, unchanging. She probably doesn’t understand at all why Diana was so unhappy, or why Harry and Meghan were compelled to leave. She has no conception of how she could be compromising the future of the monarchy because the only person who really matters to her is, well, her.

    • notasugarhere says:

William is more likely to want that, to be able to use the precedent to shove his father off the throne.

As I write above, abdication puts the inheritance of all the private wealth at risk.

    • Nic919 says:

Victoria also hid from the public for years and she didn’t get forced into a regency. Old Liz is going to do the same. She will never abdicate and a regency only happens if she is mentally incapacitated to a degree that it cannot be hidden. But covid quarantine right now can help hide a lot of things.

Charles will take on more responsibilities informally but he won’t be king until she dies. And the tax free money is also a consideration.

  19. Harper says:

Perhaps at one time, five years ago, ten years ago, she and Charles talked about what they would do if she lived as long as the Queen Mother and if she would want to remain in her official role THAT long. Maybe she threw out the idea of hanging up the crown at 95 and has since forgotten she said it or changed her mind because she feels fine and still has her faculties, but Charles hasn’t forgotten and he’s reminding her and floating the idea to the public and the grey men.

But how would it work? I can’t imagine them having a coronation ceremony with Betty still around unless she is the one to crown him. In this day and age, would the public be up for one of those elaborate coronation ceremonies? And how would Charles feel about finally getting the crown but missing out on the pomp and circumstance after waiting so long?

    • lanne says:

I’m not sure how much pomp and circumstance will be acceptable with Brexit looming. If the U.K. ends up with no deal and trucks with goods stopped for days at borders, and critical supplies run low, I’m not sure how much enthusiasm there will be for a fancy coronation. (Unless the tabloids can sell a “will the Sussexes arrive? Will they be seated in the rafters? William and Harry showdown!” Narrative. Which Charles would hate bc it takes attention away from his Big Day)

      • booboocita says:

That’s EXACTLY what would happen. Complaints about the extravagance and expense of a lavish coronation would be drowned out by the Harry & Meghan attendance question. The tabloids would dine out on that for years. Even well after the coronation, I could see the Fail going on and on for a couple of decades about, “You’ll remember that H&M never showed for this all-important ceremony, disappointing H’s father and making the rift between brothers even deeper,” or “H&M were seated far away from the royal family and behind a pillar, out of sight and out of mind,” or “H&M didn’t bring Archie with them, depriving him of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see his grandpa be crowned,” etc., etc. The stories write themselves.

      • Harper says:

Good point. We are in for H&M drama whenever Charles gets crowned, unless he comes right out and says Will will be at my right hand and Harry at my left (figuratively). Maybe Kate will have been jettisoned by then and Meghan will be the last of the two standing, still holding hands with Harry.

      • BayTampaBay says:

        “The stories write themselves.”

Any CBer could write better stories than those published in The Daily Fail.

  20. Lizzie says:

Can you imagine a real family firm that was run by someone in their 90’s? However this works because whatever she calls work has no real world consequence.

  21. Bros says:

Getting major game of thrones vibe from that thing Charles is standing in front of 😂

  22. Deneph says:

Hmm. I know they’re worried about the monarchy surviving once HM passes, there were stories about how they would want to crown him as soon as possible before it becomes an issue. They know people respect the Queen but aren’t sure how King Charles is going to go over. What if they pressure her to abdicate so Charles can be crowned while she’s still alive and has the people behind her. He could get a few years to establish himself as King so when she does pass, they rather sidestep any discussion of whether or not the monarchy should continue. HM will do whatever she can to protect the institution, she may see the benefit of stepping down for Charles as the best way at this moment. Just a thought.

    • Lorelei says:

@Deneph that makes so much sense. I think it’s probably their best strategy for gaining the public’s acceptance of Charles as the monarch. But since it’s a smart idea, PR-wise, they’ll probably never do it. This family always manages to do the exact opposite of whatever makes the most sense and would buy them the most goodwill.

  23. NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

Elizabeth vowed to be in service of the crown her whole life. She’s been doing royal duties for 80+ years. She’s given up her “whole” life at a high cost. I doubt she even recognizes all it’s truly cost. I really wouldn’t have considered her abdicating 1 year ago but I think Covid-19 has changed everything and the fact everything has fallen apart this year in the PR department may be an indicator. The animals (the animals being Charles, William, Andrew, and the entire set of courtiers and British reporters) are running the show. Also, she just looks tired, bored, and done with it all lately.

If she’s still alive during the first few years of Charles” reign, that would go such a long in stabilizing him and the monarchy in the long term. She is loved and Charles is not but no one will try to remove him while she’s alive. If Charles can make it through the rest of her life without making a complete muck of everything, they may as well keep him.

    • notasugarhere says:

William will try to remove Charles almost immediately. Charles does not want to set the precedence of a monarch abdicating as a form of retirement. That only gives William more power to go to the tabloids and pressure Charles.

Most people in the UK do not care about the monarchy. Charles is only unpopular to a handful of old Diana supporters. Most people do not care about the monarchy, and certainly do not care about a failed first marriage 20+ years ago.

In the UK, their inheritance of all the private wealth tax-free would be endangered by introducing abdication.

      • A says:

@nota, you need to elaborate on that last point because *eyesemoji*

I can definitely see William attempting to undermine Charles in a big way during his reign. Not get rid of him, but utilize the press and every other tool at his disposal to just go all in on his father and decimate any legacy he could achieve as king. I would not be surprised if Charles gets smeared up and down as a lefty-communist for caring about things like the environment and climate change and organic gardening.

Charles didn’t help himself very much, bc he’s been consistently slaughtered by bad PR for decades. The best PR decision he ever made was with how to ingratiate Camilla with the British public–leave everything the fuck alone, and let her be herself. And it worked. But this is what he gets for dismissing Diana as a lightweight, intellectually speaking. He thought was so smart, he didn’t need to care about these things, and she proved how wrong that was.

      • notasugarhere says:

The deal was struck with John Major in 1993. They inherit the private wealth in tact (all the private investments and money, Sandringham, Balmoral) without paying death tax.

The deal is only monarch-to-monarch and monarch’s widow/widower to new monarch as I understand it.

        – QEII inherited the private wealth, jewelry, and estates personally from her father without paying inheritance tax. Monarch-to-monarch.

        – QEII later inherited the majority of her mother’s private wealth (70 million) without paying inheritance tax. Monarch’s widow to monarch. Minus the millions the Queen Mum hid away in trust funds for the great grandkids. That was a different tax dodge.

iirc deal doesn’t cover monarch inheriting from abdicated former monarch upon death.

She’ll abdicate when pigs fly. She swore to serve her live in service to her country and say whatever you want about her, but she took that oath seriously.

Unrelated, she looks amazing for her age. I know she has access to the best medical care and diet so those probably help. I didn’t really pay attention to her mother, did the Queen Mother also have amazing genes or look younger than her actual age as she got older? She lived to be over 100. Every time I see Charles and her next to each other, I always think how she almost looks younger than her own son. I would never peg her to be 94. For me she hasn’t physically changed much for the last 20 years.

Had Margaret not died, I think Mother Elizabeth would have lived another 10 years. Considering she drank a gallon of gin every day since her husband died, she looked pretty decent for her age.

I doubt she would have lived to 111. She was pickled due to her constant drinking, and her systems were shutting down. The reported four months of ‘bad cold’ that killed her may have been four months worth of pneumonia.

Or one of her cancers returned and they didn’t want to talk about it. They never publicly admitted either her breast or colon cancer; that news came out in bios after her death.

And the rumour that she had a colostomy bag, which l think was actually true. Especially if you look at the style of her dresses in her last active years. They all seemed to be layered and flowing , which would easily conceal any sign of a bag.

I don’t think she will formally abdicate, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they announce she is officially stepping back from some of her duties and handing them over to Charles. Prince Philip did retire from royal duties at 95. I know people don’t like her on this site, but she is an old, old lady, and her schedule must feel pretty arduous.

What Jobson is basically saying here is, “Wahhh don’t tell me what to do, I’ll be as racist as I want thank you very much!” People like him, especially on the right, think that everyone is as shitty and craven and disgusting as they are. This is why they go around accusing people of virtue signalling and white knighting and hypocrisy–because they can’t conceive that people might be progressive because they WANT to be, because they care about others. They really think taking the morally correct stance is just for show, which goes to show the sort of spaces and people they’re dealing with on a daily basis.

I don’t know where some people are getting through idea Boris Johnson would declare a republic or tell the queen off about ANYTHING. The Tories and certainly their supporters are monarchists! And he will certainly prefer the Queen to Charles.

    • A says:

Yes, THANK YOU. And yes, Boris Johnson far prefers the Queen. She is already an icon. Charles is a difficult question mark to contend with. Much of his views do not fit in with BoJo and the Tories’ vision of Britain, and that’s honestly why I think they’ve leaned on William for that in the last couple years.

But BoJo + his Tories are far and away NOT republicans by a long fucking shot. Not even a little bit. Anyone who says so is fooling themselves. If anything, if the Tories are still in power when the Queen passes, they will do everything they can to weaken and limit Charles as much as possible, and pivot to William to fall more in line with their views. William is already more well liked than Charles, and the Tories can and will use that for their own ends.

Doubt it. That bitch would be trying to cling onto the crown from her grave if she could.
