Most of the big-name celebrities have people writing, organizing and scheduling their social media at this point. That’s especially true of celebrities with their own brands, sponsorships and endorsements – the decisions about what gets posted and when are often made by corporations, not the celebs. So it is with Kylie Jenner and her cosmetics empire. Kylie might have started out doing much of her social media herself, but for years now, she had people organizing that sh-t. So it’s weird that no one in Kylie’s vast cosmetics empire or her social media team thought it would be weird to schedule a bunch of promotional tweets & Instagram posts on Election Night?

The time-stamp on the tweet is 11:39 pm – this was something scheduled by corporate. Kylie didn’t decide to post it at that moment, as everyone was refreshing their Twitter page for news about the election. But it was still dumb, and I can’t believe no one at Kylie Cosmetics looked at the damn calendar and said “wait, we should probably avoid that.”
Kylie Jenner took to social media on election night to announce a makeup restock — and her followers aren’t happy. The 23-year-old beauty mogul posted a restock message on Twitter and Instagram Tuesday shortly before midnight, as election results rolled in and Americans grew ever more anxious.
“Kylie we love you but not the time,” one fan responded to her tweet, while another wrote, “GIRL read the goddamn room for once.”
“Did you really just tweet about your business???? idk if youre aware but there is an ELECTION tonight,” another person said. Jenner’s announcement didn’t fare much better on Instagram. “We in the middle of an election,” one fan commented. “Kylie, there is an election going on. I think this could’ve waited?” another said.
“Girl this ain’t the time to be promoting your brand…” yet another follower chimed in.
Yeah, it’s pretty dumb. What is happening in corporate America where they think “oh, everyone is on social media, paying attention to the election, this is our moment to sell, sell, sell”? I’d love to see the data on this, and on The Gap “unity” hoodie debacle.
Here’s Kylie’s Halloween costume, btw.

This woman is just plain bizarre.
I can see the reasoning behind this: probably they thought people would have looked for something lighter to release the stress of the elections but they failed. Totally.
And why would we expect anything but vapidity from her?
Came here to say this, leaving satisfied. (Bonus points for even using the same word I would’ve have used.)
That date was set as it was Kendalls actual birthday and they were giving a special and last minute offer on their collaboration.
This family is taking turns annoying us all and making dumb decisions.
Why would her social media team be any brighter than her? I imagine they are all cut from the same (clueless) cloth and totally focussed on how much interaction or whatever it’s referred to as that they get from a given post than anything bigger going on in the world and what it means.
She really is one of the dumbest people alive, along with the rest of her dead-eyed family.
