Is Donald Trump *trying* to screw over the Georgia Senate runoff election?

Trump delivers update on Operation Warp Speed

The Georgia special election is on January 5th, a little more than a month away. Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock have been asking Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to come down to Georgia and help them campaign a bit, and I bet Kamala gets sent down there. The Georgia GOP also wants Donald Trump to come down and campaign for their two corrupt AF senators, Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue. Trump is tentatively scheduled to go to Georgia this weekend, but considering how salty and tantrumy he still is about Georgia voting for Joe Biden, I feel like he might pull out. He also won’t shut up about his dumb conspiracies involving hacked voting machines and “massive dumps” of Democratic votes. All of which has led to Georgia Republicans believing like their votes won’t count, so why should they even bother showing up for the special election? They badgered GOP chairwoman Ronna McDaniel about this over the weekend:

Yes, this is all the last gasp of the Trump era: he sowed division and baseless conspiracies for years, and now his millions of supporters hang on his every word and every tweet, and they only believe what comes from him. Which means that everything is all about Trump:

“The president has basically taken hostage this race,” said Brendan Buck, once a top adviser to former House Speaker Paul Ryan.

Especially fraught are Trump’s continued attacks on Georgia’s Republican state officials and the state’s election system, potentially taking away from his public praise of Loeffler and Perdue.

“Trump’s comments are damaging the Republican brand,” argued Republican donor Dan Eberhart, who added that the president is “acting in bad sportsmanship and bad faith” instead of emphasizing Republicans’ need to maintain Senate control.

The GOP needs one more seat for a majority. Democrats need Jon Ossoff to defeat Perdue and Raphael Warnock to defeat Loeffler to force a 50-50 Senate, positioning Vice President-elect Kamala Harris as the tie-breaking majority vote.

Trump on Monday blasted Gov. Brian Kemp as “hapless” for not intervening to “overrule” Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s certification of Biden’s win. A day earlier, Trump told Fox News he was “ashamed” he’d endorsed Kemp in his 2018 GOP primary for governor. Kemp’s office noted in response that state law gives Kemp no authority to overturn election results, despite Trump’s contention that Kemp could “easily” invoke “emergency powers.” Meanwhile, Raffensperger, a Trump supporter like Kemp, has accused the president of throwing him “under the bus” for doing his job.

I think it was Chris Hayes who argued that Trump never really had an agenda for his administration, and that Mitch McConnell basically imposed HIS agenda and Moscow Mitch got everything he wanted. And now the Georgia Senate runoff is the only thing left for Moscow Mitch to retain the Senate Majority and Trump is basically trying to screw Mitch over. I honestly don’t think Trump even sees it that way – it’s too complicated for Trump’s peabrain. All Trump knows is that he’s bigly aggrieved and he wants to take everyone down with his administration.

Good. Don’t vote for Republicans. It is your choice.

  2. Lightpurple says:

If so, more power to him on this and this alone.

And Ronna Romney McDaniel deserves all the negative feedback coming her way. She actively defends his attempts to undermine our rights

    • Chica1971 says:

Trump plays for only one team, his own, and it’s a team of one. It’s not his fault that others think the team is the Republican Party.

      • Mac says:

Trump is going to GA this weekend. I have no idea who was crazy enough to think that is a good idea.

  3. Persephone says:

Trump just can’t help himself. He is unable to be anything other that what he is.

    • Maggi says:

Classic “The Scorpion and the Frog” – he is a shitty, vicious little man who will harm others, even when it is not in his best interest. The only problem with this parable is that a scorpion is an infinitely more skilled, complex creature that the Diaper.

  4. SomeChick says:

I don’t think he cares about the runoff at all. He’s not even thinking about it. He’s butthurt that he lost, which makes him a Loser. That’s the only thing on his mind. He DGAF what happens to anyone else. He never has. This is what the republicans signed up for and now they can’t control him any more. Serves them right.

    • Maida says:

Exactly this. Trump has absolute tunnel vision. The one question he is always asking is “But what’s in this for ME?” The GOP has enabled his lunacy for years now and richly deserves to be dragged down with him.

    • Sankay says:

I believe he knows what he’s doing. As long as he keeps yelling voter fraud the donations to his “fraud” campaign keep coming in. He cares for nothing else.

  5. Betsy says:

One can only hope that the stupidity on the GOP sides works to suppress the GOP vote and that enough Democrats in Georgia GOTV. The GOP has been rolling around in propaganda (lots of it made in Russia lately) like an itchy dog in grass; they need to pay the piper.

  7. Kkat says:

There are blue check names on Parler, twitter and FB calling for Republicans to boycott the election totally or to write in trump 😂
So other people are amplifying that lol

  8. lucy2 says:

I’m trying not to get too optimistic about this one, but it’s so damn important, and if he throws a temper tantrum and less GOP go out to vote…good.
He obviously only cares about himself, and this runoff does nothing for him, so I do hope he’s pissed he lost Georgia and does nothing to help.

Loeffler and Perdue are TERRIBLE people. Truly. They both got Senate reports on Covid and started dumping stock, which is illegal, and neither has been properly investigated. They also seem to have zero interest in helping the citizens of Georgia, they are only in it for themselves and lining their pockets. If you can do anything to help Warnock and Ossoff, donate, phone bank, cards, letters, etc, now is the time!

    • Rapunzel says:

Loeffler was criticizing Warnock for having puppies and pizza in his campaign commercials. She’s tanking herself nicely.

      • Lightpurple says:

A colleague’s daughter plays for the Dream, which has petitioned the WNBA to remove Kelly as an owner. He says his daughter has turned his house into a mini Raphael Warnoff campaign headquarters and that the rest of the family spends almost every waking minute making phone calls or writing Get Out the Vote post cards.

Another colleague plans to be in Georgia as a registered election observer and will provide legal assistance to the campaigns if needed.

And the six members of my family who are eligible to vote in Georgia have done so. The seventh will do so next week when he turns 18. None of them voted for Kelly.

    • Traveler says:

I second that…………..donate if you are able.

  9. Leah says:

Sure if they are dumb enough to think that he will gain more votes in the presidential race through a run off senate race that involves just one state, then so be it.

Yes I believe magats are dumb enough to believe that will actually work. Lol.

  10. Veronica S. says:

I’ve not gotten my hopes up over Georgia and am keeping a mind to 2022, but there is a part of me that hopes they shoot themselves in the foot with their enablement of Trump. (I still can’t get over NC’s Cunningham blowing it on the last inning. Thanks, ass!)

I will say my incredibly unethical desire to create a burner account spreading conspiracy theories about Loeffler and Perdue being secret liberal operatives is HIGH. “Why would these two engage in illegal activities unless they were hired to damage Trump and the GOP??” Hire me, DNC. I don’t mind fighting dirty.

    • Chris says:

I have the same dark instinct to tell all Democrats to shut up about laughing at the situation because I don’t want trump to be contrarian and end up helping them (he’s like a petulant child) or for Republicans to use our glee as propaganda.

Never interrupt your enemy when he’s making a mistake.

  11. Amy Too says:

The people of Georgie voted against Donald Trump. And there were a lot of states who voted against Trump but voted for Republican senators, governors, or House Reps. So obviously, Americans and even a lot of people who vote Republican don’t like Trump. Why then would the Republicans in Georgia want him to come and campaign for them? They need to get a larger percentage of the vote than Trump got, and yet they want to tie themselves to Trump, be endorsed by Trump, and claim to be mini-Trumps? How is that smart right now?

    • Chris says:

The Republican party is now the party of trump. He’s the star of the show. While independents and dems don’t like him, Republicans love him. However, he’s not on the ticket so Republicans may not be as motivated to vote this time. That’s why they want him there to rile up his base.

  12. Snuffles says:

No, I think Cheeto is having a tantrum and doesn’t care who he hurts while doing it. If it doesn’t serve him, he doesn’t care about it.

  13. Seraphina says:

Lame Duck President is treating this, and all his endeavors while in WH , like a business venture. And since he is going down, he is taking everything down with him because he cannot fathom he is OUT. He does not care and I agree his pea sized brain is not astute enough to take Mitch down in what is left in his time in office.
BUT, I still say to friends: I will laugh my ass off if he is the reason Georgia flips blue in January.

  14. Josie Bean says:

I cannot believe what Trump is doing. My god. He slams anyone who claims he did not win the election. So any Governor, from a swing state, who confirms that Biden won their State gets blasted. He does indeed have the Republican Party hostage. Republicans are scared shitless to cross Trump because they do not want to piss off his base. This is so bad for the country. Trump has so much power and he knows it and I do not think he is going to go away. He will leave the White House but he will keep the Republicans silent while he calls the shots. I hope I am wrong.

    • Chica1971 says:

Trump is also proposing to hold a rally on Inauguration Day too

    • User4355 says:

This is so true. Doug Ducey, the R governor of AZ has been sucking up to Trump all year, campaigned for him, and attended all of Trump’s stupid rallies in AZ.

Yesterday he attended the certification of AZ’s election results declaring Biden the winner as required by AZ law, and Trump has turned on him.

Unfortunately, MAGAts hang on Trumps every word. There are thousands of comments on Ducey’s FB page calling him a traitor, saying he should be in prison, and accusing him of helping pull off voter fraud.

  15. Other Renee says:

Here’s a crazy thought: Maybe he wants the Republican candidates to lose in Georgia. That way Dems control the next four years, which in turn will infuriate ALL Republicans thereby paving the way for his successful 2024 run. In other words, setting himself up as their savior.

Too much? 🤷‍♀️ Ah well. Just a thought.

  16. MsIam says:

I think Trump may want to screw Mitch over not passing the stimulus bill before the election. That would have given Trump the opportunity to campaign on a fresh round of stimulus checks or at least the promise of checks to come. I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump feels this is a way to pay back Mitch. If it is, I’m all here for it, I hope they both rot.

  17. jferber says:

If trump really wants to screw over mitch, I’m all for it. Notice the orange turd said he’s “ashamed” he supported Kemp for governor. If that man had an ounce of shame in him, the last four years with him would never have happened. Color him shameless. Orange shameless.
