I worried about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex moving to Montecito, just because I thought they would need to be closer to LA on a daily basis. It’s how I felt about their move to Frogmore Cottage in 2018/19 as well – sure, it’s nice to have some space and a real “family home,” but a young couple actually needs to be closer to their city hub. I tend to believe the decisions to move outside major cities is more Prince Harry’s thing… I’ve said before that it must be so exotic for him, considering the way he grew up, to have his tight little family unit safe, away from the city. But… Harry and Meghan do make it into LA sometimes. Or more specifically, they made it into Beverly Hills over the weekend:

The difference in their clothes is really amusing to me – Harry is dressed for a mild autumn day in California, and Meghan is all bundled up in a $375 J.Crew coat, looking like it’s the dead of winter. Love her boots, honestly. I also love a majorly baggy sweater when it gets cold. I would wear her entire outfit.
Meanwhile, Omid Scobie claims that Harry and Meghan will most likely release some kind of new image or Christmas card this year, like they did last year, pre-Sussexit, when we got that look at baby Archie. Scobie told Heirpod: “There is this forthcoming Christmas card photo. I believe it is on its way.” I can’t wait! We really haven’t seen Archie in months and months. I imagine he looks less baby-ish and more like a toddler now.

I too was noticed the difference in clothing because I ALWAYS dress like I am going skiing once the cold sets in for winter. I love the fact they are out and about in masks. LOVE IT. I also found it interesting that Harry is making a life for himself (with his family) in the US – the way it was rumored his mother had wanted to do so. Or were those truly rumors with no basis???
Yep the US was one of the places she felt she could be free of Chuck / BRF and protection officers. Also she always got a warm welcome there and the US press were behind her.

Umm, it was close to 80 degrees in LA and Santa Barbara last weekend. It does get cold at night and early morning but she must have been sweltering in that outfit.

Last weekend was not 80 in SB, but either way I’m wearing my cashmere also. Anytime it dips into the low 70s we pull out our sweaters and make a fire. Why judge?
It made me giggle. She’s a Californian to the core. A slight breeze and the parkas come out. Meanwhile, he’s thinking it’s downright tropical.
I find a lot in california the total opposite, I was outside barefoot and in shorts and mostly wear sandels year round. It’s a good 50/50 at least who wear shorts all winter.

Or maybe they were going so fast from car to building that he didn’t need a coat? (I go coat-less a lot in winter if I’m doing that – just running from car to shop or restaurant.)

Someone on twitter said that Angelina Jolie was out and about a few days ago in a big coat, so maybe its a combination of being cold-ish and Meghan running cold in general.

Angelina Jolie and her daughter Zahara were papped this weekend. Jolie was bundled up in a long winter coat. So Duchess Meghan was not the only person around LA dressed for winter during this past weekend.
As a life long Californian (so cal) I have to say anything below 65 degrees is cold to me. I’m freezing. I also go out like Meghan when it’s this cold out. Out of state folks from places like Michigan think I’m being dramatic, but I’m just really cold. Lol.
It WAS pretty chilly! I had my puffer coat on to walk the dog. It didn’t get warm until Sunday (about 75*) and yesterday (about 80*). Today it’s back in the low to mid 60s. Def. layering weather. If they were out in the morning, Sat/Sun, Meg def. needed that coat. Harry, whose blood is thicker, being used to cold weather, probably didn’t.
I have a friend who lives out on the North Shore in Long Island. Last time I visited, it was about 45*. I was bundled up to the point barely my face was the only thing peaking out. He wore a cotton pullover over a sleeved shirt. It as practically “summer” for him lol.
This weekend it was in the low-70’s during the day, and dipped into the 50’s at night. I imagine she was quite warm in that coat!
It was 85°F / 30°C here in Southern California on Saturday. But it’s December! So people will walk around bundled up because there *may be a slight chill in the air at some point* 😂

It depends on what time of day, right now at 7am it’s pretty brisk. The temp drops for the day around 4pm.
A couple days ago there was a pretty cold breeze, that was Saturday or Sunday.

I’m from Canada, when I used to go to Florida for Christmas, I’d be in a tank top or maybe a light cardigan. My aunts who live there year-round would be in goose down jackets complaining about “how cold winter is this year.” I think the natives feel winter differently.

Meg is a thin woman. When i lose weight i am always cold and when i gain i tend to be a little warmer. Probably a duh but just mentioning it.

When I lived in the PNW I would wait for it to drop in to the 40s before I busted out my big coats. If the sun is shining there we consider it a “nice” day and everyone is in short sleeves/shorts if at all possible. Now that I live in Charleston, SC I have no shame bundling up the minute it drops below 60! I see tourists visit in winter in dresses and shorts and I’m happy to be wearing my below the knees down coat when it’s 57 out.
Everyone experiences temperatures differently. I went out for a walk yesterday where I live—sunny but temps in the 40s F and I had on my winter hat, coat, and gloves, but there were other people on the greenway in shorts and t shirt.
There is a woman in my office who is always freezing, even when the rest of us are warm. She’s constantly wrapped in a blanket, a coat, and occasionally even ear muffs!
I get hot and cold in succession. My temp regulation seems off. The heat is brutal to me (I live in a very hot place, at least hot most of the year) but I still get cold when it dips into the low 60s or so.
I lived in L.A. from 1986-1994 at a location where Brentwood, Santa Monica, and West L.A. merge. The first three winters were brutally cold! I moved to L.A. from Ohio in August 1986 with only a jacket because–L.A. That November I had to buy a winter coat, hat, and gloves and these items were readily available at stores in Westwood and at the Westside Pavilion. I biked down to the ocean in the mornings before work and got bronchitis the second winter I was there because it was just that cold.
Why are people so bothered by this? You come to Ca in January for vacation and wear shorts and sundresses and we think your adorable.

I live in Massachusetts but I’m a born and raised Texas gal – I’m freezing half the time but lately I’ve just hated a big bulky coat – especially if I’m running in and out of a store. But I do love the pockets of a big coat – I don’t have to carry cross body around.

It could be marks on the camera lens or some distortion. The photos are taken at long range from what seems to be a fixed point on the opposite side of the road.
With climate change I don’t know how much things may have changed since I was in college, but I went to college in LA and I don’t remember it ever being cold enough to need the jacket Meghan is wearing, and I’m always cold. Anyway, I’m sure she needed it or she wouldn’t have worn it, I was just surprised to see such a heavy jacket.
It was 75 degrees in LA on Sunday, 80 degrees yesterday. Cold in the AM though, so there’s that.
The pictures aren’t very bright, so maybe it was still early? At the risk of sounding like a concern troll, I hope everything’s well if she needed that warm a jacket in that weather.
The mornings have been pretty cold out here. It tends to warm up in the afternoons to 70 or 80 degrees. Maybe they came out earlier when it was colder, hence the coat. This must be nothing to Harry though. Might as well be summertime compared to the UK.
When I first moved to LA, I thought it would be warm all the time and didn’t bring a winter coat. But it was a La Niña season and became freakishly cold.
Plus, when you live in LA you learn to dress in layers and always bring a jacket as the temperature fluctuations during the day can be extreme.

Freakishly cold in LA is 50’s during the day and maybe dipping into low 40’s at night. There’s a reason that succulents and palm trees thrive and Bougainville bloom year round-it’s a semi arid desert climate.
Growing up in LA I would walk to school 1/2 mile in the a.m. wearing a pretty heavy coat and end up dragging the thing home in the afternoon sweating in the sun. Pretty typical SoCal weather.
I cannot believe she wasn’t broiling hot in that coat, sweater, and hat. It *might* have been in the 40’s that day, but doubtful when they were out. I mean, that is what I put on this morning for the high-30’s, and I was a little warm after bit.

Yes it does, but the British press look at him and only see him looking miserable. A lot of projection going on there with those folks. I’m happy for him that he can finally live the life he always wanted.

If you look at him in the ones the Sussexes have released, he always looks happy. In the one of him holding Archie outside, he looks positively over the moon.

When I lived in LA, I was also there wearing a wool coat and scarf when it was 60 degrees. I’m just always cold 😃.

It depends on the time of day. Yesterday morning I wore a light jacket to walk the dogs, a sleeveless shirt in the afternoon to walk the dogs and a winter coat at sunset to look at the alignment of Jupiter and Saturn phenomenon (which looked amazing through binoculars!) I live several hours south of Los Angeles.
LOL, Meghan is dressed like she’s still in Toronto but depends on how cold it is in LA. But some people feel the cold more than others.
I kinda love that she tends to wear off the rack jackets like this – I stan’d the Barbour one she was often pap’d wearing and you can’t get that style anymore 🙁

if they release an xmas card, i’d be interested to see what platform they use. will they send out an e-card like last year? not having social media really forces them to be creative about these more personal drops. i also would not be surprised if the card never comes.
I think it will because Omid said it. I would have reservations about the news from anyone but him.
He wasn’t definitive in his statement, so I don’t think we can take his word for it that a card is coming. I don’t believe that Omid is as close to the Sussex camp as he wants everybody to believe. However, I suspect a card is released it would be done so via the social media of one of organisations associated with them like they did last year. But I also wouldn’t be surprised if there’s none. Their podcast will come out during Christmas and Spotify might just tweet a picture of them doing the podcast which may act a Christmas greeting card.

When I first moved to LA from Chicago I too laughed at the winter coat wearing. Thirty years later and I’ve definitely become acclimated to the weather. Its currently 65 with a stiff wind off the ocean and I have on a winter coat.

I grew up on Vancouver Island. Live in Alberta now which is much colder. I’d wear that outfit, coat open, at zero degrees Celsius.

They look great but this is disappointing. Los Angeles has a lockdown order, Celebs shouldn’t be roaming BH. I know they are wearing mask but the should follow the stay home if you can. I mean we 0% available capacity in our ICUs
We don’t know why they were out. Could be a doctor’s appointment for all we know. I doubt they would risk themselves or others for something that wasn’t necessary.
Our state has a lockdown order as well but you can still go to appointments and grocery shop if we need too. They have masks on. Every time we see them they wear masks.
I kind of agree. You are not supposed to go to another county and she’s almost 100 miles from SB. Everyone needs to just stay put.

The optometrist sells cloth wipes that will keep your glasses fog free. They also have sprays.
I really like that coat. Some were still available on sale. She seems really bundled up so maybe it’s to be less recognizable. I live in Northern California so we are a bit cooler weather-wise, but even on mild sweater days, I’ll see people bundled up in down coats. Even a hint of chill and it’s like break out the heavy coats, lol. Harry needs to get rid of the vented masks. They’re not the most effective to prevent spread and some stores wont let you in if you’re wearing those. But they are very good about wearing their masks consistently and don’t seem bothered by it.

Also yes LA is in lockdown but Beverly Hills is where all the rich people doctors are. Like, doctors compete to be there so they can have fancy clients and say “Beverly hills doctor” etc. Dentists and plastic surgeons do it too
Some of the vented masks have 2 layers of cloth between your mouth and the vent (which is one-way /exhale only) and four layers through which you inhale air. When you insert the filters you add an additional five layers to both numbers. Possible that Harry has a similar mask.

The weather is so variable on the east coast right now I literally keep at least two coats in my car in case I get two hot or cold. But none of my coats are as cool as that coat.
They are SO L.A. I live here, but was raised in the midwest. Every native Angeleno is currently bundled up like we are in the midst of a deep freeze (Meghan), and I am dressing like it is June (Harry). I love it, they are all that much more relatable to me. It has been in the 70s every single day. I am a bit embarrassed at how adorable I find the Sussexes, I am 46 years old! I feel okay about my life choices, on this site.

I’m 77 years old and I find them adorable too. I live in Florida so I’m too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer. I keep a jacket in the car because I’m freezing when I go in most office spaces winter and summer.
Don’t forget about the Pacific Ocean-a cool breeze may blow once and while which can make the air chilly-We have had 50 and 60 degree temps lately-but sometimes it does not feel like it outside-hence I will wear a jacket or heavy sweater – England has been known to have some brutal winters-to Harry in California this probably feels like summer-A lot people who have grown up in California say the least bit of cool air-they get cold-so a cool breeze off the Pacific may have Meghan feeling a tad cold.-whatever I love seeing them and Harry looks great. He is cuter than the older brother-later in life-God speed to the Sussex family!

I’m near long beach (about 2-3 hours south of them) and it’s usually at least 10-15 degrees cooler up there.
I just went outside to get a package and it was brisk.
If I went somewhere right now I’d probably wear a hoodie and sweats instead of my usual bike shorts and t-shirt and sandals.
