The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge say words about de-stigmatizing mental health

cambridge time to change1

Remember how the Duchess of Sussex was in a deep hole of suicidal depression in early 2019, largely because the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are petty, small-minded, jealous dumbasses and they waged a smear campaign against her? Remember how they also refused to help her, claiming it would look bad and, when they knew she was in a bad place, they continued to heap abuse on her? Remember how Meghan was inundated with racism, sexism and lies from Day 1 and how that affected her mental health? Yeah, well William and Kate would like to thank everyone for helping to end mental health stigma.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have recorded a personal ‘thank you’ message to everyone who has ‘taken action’ through Time to Change’s campaign to end mental health stigma. In the video, which was shared to the Time To Change Twitter and played at a virtual celebratory event today, Prince William, 38, said: ‘We wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has shared their experiences and taken action through Time to Change, helping to challenge the stigma which surrounds mental health.’

Speaking from Anmer Hall, Kate Middleton, 39, who donned a black roll-neck and wore her brown hair down, continued: ‘Movements like Time to Change have helped to transform attitudes and encouraged more openness about mental health in schools, communities and the workplace.’

The Duke of Cambridge went on to say how over the past 15 years, Time to Change Champions have ‘inspired and supported thousands of people across the country’ – adding that mental health has ‘at last moved into the mainstream as part of our daily lives.’

While the royal couple expressed a personal thank you to the many people who have inspired a more open culture around mental health, Kate warned that the ‘work isn’t done yet.’

‘We cannot afford to stop here,’ the duchess continued, to which William added: ‘We need to keep talking, keep taking action and continue to stand up to the stigma.’

[From The Daily Mail]

“…Encouraged more openness about mental health in schools, communities and the workplace…” Unless your workplace is Kensington Palace, in which case f–k your mental health, even when you’re pregnant. As I watched the video, it occurred to me that Kate does not even believe a word she’s saying. She knows it’s all a lie. I think she even knows that they sound like massive hypocrites for talking about mental health at this moment, right after they were publicly ethered by Harry and Meghan. OH WELL! And yes, Kate is cosplaying Meghan. Kate copied a look from Meghan from the winter of 2017, in Nottingham.

They can shut their mouths. the NERVE.

Are they zooming from Anmer again? I dont see the fake door so it must be Anmer. Why are they moving back and forth for zooms? And do they take the framed pictures with them or do they have duplicates? So many questions.

    • Beach Dreams says:

I think they must be back in London, right? They’ve been doing all of their in-person engagements around the city and I assume their kids are back in school (I’m American so I’m not sure on if/when schools over there opened back up).

      • Becks1 says:

Their schools are back apparently so maybe this is KP, but I also figured this could have been recorded a while back and then just released, so maybe Anmer or wherever.

      • Cecilia says:

I think so. It is definitely not sandringham house tho. That awkward door is gone

      • L84Tea says:

This is the same location where Kate did that one Zoom where she wore the white satiny blouse with the black peter pan collar. It’s just more brightly lit this time. I recognize those very dreary looking paintings behind her.

  2. Tiffany says:

They still out here doing this stuff with their WHOLE chest, ain’t they?

  3. Maria says:

I laughed so hard at how Twitter dragged them for this on the Kensington Royal page.

    • lemonylips says:

It sure did. Also, someone mentioned that Times to Change is closing come March 31st. If that is the case, this is even more… pathetic? I’m missing words here. Someone, help me out please.
      EDIT: It is closing https://www.time-to-change.org.uk/news/time-to-change-to-close-after-funding-ends-statement

      • LaraW” says:

Lemony, it’s entirely inappropriate for William and Kate to support an organization with the word “Change” in its name. It was absolutely necessary to get rid of such an affront to the royal, staid, static bulwark of British stability. There is NO Time to Change. It’s a slap in the face of the queen. The Cambridges only did what was Right. They are demonstrating true Public Service. Indeed, Kate showed absolute deference to the monarchy with her project Stand Still— she demonstrated Leadership and Strength in organizing that project. They have receipts! She sent an E-Mail!

      • Amy Too says:

Then WTH was Kate doing saying that they all needed to keep working, that they couldn’t stop here, that this was a good start but that there was still work to be done? I took that as she and William were keen to support time to change’s ongoing work into the future. But apparently not. Did…. did she not actually know they were closing? Was she just saying random platitudes about how “we all” need to keep vaguely working on this broad issue in some unspecified kind of way? This would have been a great time to launch a new project that would pick up where Time for Change left off, or support another charity/program that is doing similar work and direct people to their website so that they can learn more/continue to access the resources they were getting from Time to Change/continue helping with this particular issue. But no. Of course not. Will and Kate just zoom in for less than 2 minutes to say “a very big thank you” to a charity that they were probably supposed to be supporting all along but sort of forgot about in the last week before it goes away. What was the point? Usually they at least claim they’re “raising awareness,” but TtC is done. It needed awareness a long time ago.

They’re always so vague and lazy with their “support.” They could literally record one master video that says things like:

“We just wanted to call to thank you all for the amazing work you’ve all been doing lately. _______ is such an important cause, and it’s been on all of our minds recently as we each deal with the many different struggles that all of face during this difficult time. The work you’re doing is especially appreciated right now and we just wanted to say a big thank you and well done to everyone at __________ for continuing to do such important work.”

And then just dub in the cause and the name of the charity for each zoom. They could have Kate wear a green shirt so they could green-screen different clothes onto her and make it seem like each zoom call is unique.

    • PrincessK says:

These two should be embarrassed and ashamed of themselves.

  4. lucylee says:

    Work for them:
    bring increased awareness
    say thank you
    learn about
    highlight———-
    share a message
Pick one of those phrases and add a comment about hair and clothes of the female, mum of three and where they are Zooming rom and you have an article.
    So boring.

    • LaraW” says:

      bring increased awareness
      say thank you
      learn about
      highlight———-
      share a message

Challenge accepted. This counts as 7 engagements, by the way.

We would like to share a message and say thank you to ourselves, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, for bringing increased awareness and highlighting the fact that the Royal Family is very much not racist. We’ve learned so much about William’s Black friend, and that African mothers have hair, just like Granny Diana. This pandemic has been challenging for all of us, but we’re glad we’ve been able to share these moments with front line workers, and very pleased to have this opportunity to honor their work with our boredom and exhaustion.

      Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

  5. Scorpion says:

😂😂😂😂😂 The jokes are writing themselves at this point.

    • kelleybelle says:

Yes, these two are a complete joke uttering ANY words about mental health. Flaming, flagrant, empty, nothing hypocrites. No more.

  6. Ginger says:

Apparently this charity is closing at the end of the month.

These two should never speak of mental health and Kate should quit doing early years and mental health for mothers. It’s clear they don’t care at all. It’s insulting.

  7. dawnchild says:

Doubling down on the hypocrisy. Perfect British establishment approach. It worked for a couple of hundred years and many colonies, dressed up with gold braid and parades.
    Not working anymore…

  8. Myra says:

And they weren’t embarrassed? At this point, they should drop anything to do with mental health and maternal health. I would say they should avoid talking about racism too but they were doing spectacularly on that front.

  9. The Duchess says:

I’d even pay them to shut up at this point. It’s getting nauseating.

  10. BayTampaBay says:

Do Baldingham & Kant not realize how stupid they look to the world by mouthing these talking points that apply directly to them and their family making them and their family look like hypocrites?

    • Myra says:

Exactly. It’s so disingenuous. There’s nothing authentic or sincere about their message so surely they are making a mockery of mental health issues. Do they laugh about it when they say CUT? Remember when he allegedly referred to his brother as fragile? Talk about stigmatisation.

  11. Kalana says:

Lol, Kate’s head looks pasted on.

    This charity is closing btw.

  12. Phoenix says:

    And the charity is closing?
    These two… just patethic!

  13. Züri says:

I was struck by how utterly disengaged and dead-eyed KM was in this– more so that usual. And the fidgeting wasn’t as egregious as in other instances, but still worth noting. What a couple of pissants.

    • kelleybelle says:

There hasn’t been any light in her eyes for years. And it’s just worse lately because of all their cruel, hypocritical, asshole behaviour.

    • FC says:

They both look dead-eyed and completely uncaring. They have zero charisma and are just phoning it in.

    • swirlmamad says:

Maybe she’s moved on to medicating herself for these Zooms, hence the reduced fidgeting.

  14. TheOriginalMia says:

Are those Forget Me Nots behind them? Oh, sorry, got distracted from the rampant hypocrisy. Are they really out here talking about mental health when they raged a war against a vulnerable, pregnant woman that nearly drove her to kill herself and her unborn child?! Are they serious?! Whoo chile! These two…

  15. Beach Dreams says:

    1) I agree with Kaiser: Kate knows they’re full of shit judging by the brief smirk on her face.
    2) William’s constant blinking and disdainful expressions when Kate speaks are so…interesting. I wonder if he even realizes he’s doing it and how it looks. He’s always been like that with her but it’s just gotten so pervasive, like the second she opens her mouth he’s already blinking up a storm and pursing his lips.
    3) On a superficial note, her extensions look awful.

    • FridaKhaloLover says:

I’ve noticed that too and I am so glad I’m not alone. The micro expressions are very telling. It’s quite sad really

    • Lemons says:

I wonder if Kate speaks like this at home or if this her “telephone voice”. Kate has an “aristo” voice that just isn’t working. She creates the weirdest grimaces when trying to speak.

William is probably cringing at the failed accent and painful way she is speaking. She can never be natural if she is already so pained at speaking. He sounds like a natural next to her…

    • Seraphina says:

All I keep seeing is Kate fidgeting and only pics of George in the background…..the heir.

  16. Sofia says:

    Lol okay.

  17. GreenBunny says:

On a completely superficial note, because I can’t handle the hypocrisy, it’s really how amazing how far Will has fallen. In his youth, he was gorgeous and now he looks like Stephen Miller’s English cousin.

  18. Eleonor says:

The RF brought Diana to her breaking point, 40 years later another pregnant woman was having suicidal thoughts, and the smeared her, Kate, sorry Catherine, went full regina George, and her husband used his brother and his sister in law as human shields, because he can’t keep it in its pants and now they talk about mental health!?
    Eyeroll.
    Massive eyeroll.

    • Aeren says:

Sorry for the parenthesis BUT why is she “Kate” and not “Cate” if her name is Catherine?

      • Becks1 says:

Some people go by Cate (Cate Blanchett for example), but I think for some reason Kate is the more common spelling, whether the name is Catherine or Katherine. Maybe because you rarely see Katie spelled with a C?

  19. Amy Bee says:

Yeah, William and Kate don’t believe a word of what the read in that video. Whatever credibility they had in this space was destroyed by what Harry and Meghan said in the Oprah interview. I always believed that based on his own experiences, Harry wanted to work in Mental Health but he was only given permission to do so if he included William and Kate in the project. I believe the idea for SHOUT came from Harry and Meghan but William and Kate hijacked as their own.

    • Lorelei says:

@AmyBee this is what I don’t get. I totally agree with you. So why did they do it?! Why didn’t they just say no? I understand staffers have a lot of power but they can’t very well force the heir to do something this trivial, can they? And if all he is is a puppet, they really have problems. (Well, worse problems than we already knew.)

Is it a case of William thinking Knauf is such a genius that he’ll do anything Jason suggests? This is ridiculous. It’s so obvious that neither of them want to be there and it’s not sincere, so they shouldn’t have done it ffs.

  20. Stacy Dresden says:

It would be laughable if it weren’t so cruel and insincere.

  21. February-Pisces says:

The have only press pics of their kids framed and no personal ones? Is everything about these two fake? That isn’t even their living room.

And enough of the performative ‘mental health’ advocates act. We all know these two are nothing but bullies. They literally bullied and abused a pregnant woman because they thought her baby (their nephew) would be brown. F*ck off.

  22. Merricat says:

It is breathtakingly bad. The paper prince and his paper wife are too stubborn to admit what is apparent to the rest of the world: they weigh down any issue that they’re trying to elevate.

  23. My3cents says:

This is right up there with Melania’s anti bullying and Be Better campaign.

  24. S808 says:

Something about them speaking about mental health, knowing what they’ve done with to their brother and sister in law while on a staged set they copied from said brother and sister in law is really sick to me. It gives me STRONG Get Out vibes.

    • Lyds says:

They are absolutely, “Get Out: the Royal Edition.” The location of the unveiling of Diana’s statue is literally called the “Sunken Gardens.”

And yes, the Mental Health jig is up. They need to embrace causes that highlight their strengths, like creating a Financial Education Foundation that teaches people how to deplete the public coffers while saying “what island?” Or supporting the Early Years of Uni; the most important time you can stalk your future husband into marrying you.

  25. Over it says:

After knowing what was done to Megs and Harry, these two talking about mental health makes me sick to my stomach. They didn’t care about a pregnant woman their own sister in law so I am sure they don’t care about strangers

  26. Kapowie says:

I’ve watched a couple of these videos now, and it really strikes me just how anxious Kate’s hand movements are. She squeezes her hands non-stop, it really seems like she’s incredibly nervous or worried.

  27. Steph says:

Look!! They are copying Harry and Meghan again! This time it might be smart. They let the organization share the clip instead of themselves. Too bad it doesn’t show them doing any actual work.

  28. Rice says:

Kaiser, thanks for watching this video of Duchess Keenerine and Duke Constipated P*nis while their mouths move because I can’t with these people.

    • Harper says:

Same. Out of concern for my mental health, I can’t click on them anymore. Off to go look at pictures of puppies instead.

  29. Jaded says:

Empty words from empty people. Their obvious lack of compassion or focus is truly astounding and having to sit beside each other mouthing platitudes only shows their barely contained contempt for each other. This marriage is OVER.

    • L84Tea says:

I agree. It’s getting more and more noticeable. These two can’t stand one another.

  30. booboocita says:

These two and their gold standard advisors are incapable of seeing the hypocrisy, the sheer GALL, of this statement. It’s not about mental health for them, if indeed it ever was. It’s about competition with the Sussexes. The thinking behind this was probably something like: “The Sussexes are taking the lead on speaking about mental health and advocating for counseling and therapy! And they’re getting good press out of it, too! We too must make a statement, so they don’t take the spotlight from us and so people know that we’re important and worthy of praise, too!” And not a thought was given to their past behavior, or what a pathetic, blatant, obvious attempt at mimicry it would be.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

booboocita, although I don’t have a twitter account, I go to read some of what’s being posted. I think the most interesting narrative that’s come out since the Oprah interview is that Harry wouldn’t get his wife help, so why would anyone listen to him about mental health. What no one is discussing is the fact that H&M went to the Senior Advisors numerous times and HR and were not allowed to get help. Isn’t it interesting that the STAFF is running everything. We are to believe that not. one. family. member. new about this? Not one? So, staff tell the royal family what to do, right? I keep wishing someone on twitter would disabuse the haters that the narrative they keep pushing doesn’t have a good look for the palace idiots.

      • Lorelei says:

@Saucy I’ve seen that argument a lot too. Obviously it’s ridiculous because none of us have any idea what actually happened behind the scenes. But even if the palace said no, why wouldn’t Harry just arrange help himself? He has connections; he doesn’t need their blessing to help his suicidal wife.

William appears to have gone totally rogue last week, completely ignoring what the Queen had said the post-interview plan would be and launching his own inane “I’m not racist!” campaign, so it *is* possible to do whateverTF you want at the end of the day. Once it’s done, it’s done. Some courtiers might be pissed, but they already hated Harry and Meghan anyway, so what can they do?

What could they have done to punish Harry? It’s not as if they could still order he be beheaded ffs. Everything that they ALREADY did was what pushed Meghan to that point of being suicidal in the first place, so why involve them at all? They couldn’t have punished him more than they already were for having the audacity to marry Meghan.

      • Saaucy&Sassy says:

Lorelei, I think Meghan did get help. She was seeing her doctor throughout the pregnancy and they said one of Diana’s friends helped. I think there’s a story behind that. Also, I’m not convinced that Harry didn’t talk to someone in the family. I just don’t think they wanted to say that during the interview. What is very clear is that they wouldn’t allow Meghan to check into a hospital. What could they do? Well, it appears that not giving her security at the hospital could have been a very real possibility.

      • Lorelei says:

@Saucy the security issue never occurred to me but you’re right. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised at all to learn they’d actually do something so petty purely out of spite.

    • @Booboocita, ITA “ It’s about competition with the Sussexes.” Always that. Mouthing mental health makes them sound hollow and insensitive. The whole world knows they bullied their brother and sister-in-law and raced them out of the UK. Don’t they have mental health issues themselves— I mean these two Kate and William?

  31. Maria says:

Their waggling fingers are really irritating me in this video.

  32. Robin says:

If anyone needs to be honest about their feelings and emotional health it’s Kate Middleton. She looks so sad, and has done for years. Can you imagine living in that family and then listening to Harry having the balls to say it’s suffocating and like being trapped. Free the Anmer 1!

    • Maria says:

Any sympathy I had for her is lost after her treatment of Meghan.
I hope Kate enjoys the crown she bought with so many pieces of silver etc etc. If she makes it to that point in their marriage.

  33. Nic919 says:

If there was any Justice they would have been struck down with lightning for spewing the hypocrisy they are saying on mental health. Their words means nothing when they can’t even apply this to their own relatives.

  34. Victoria says:

    They can’t be serious!

  35. swirlmamad says:

She clearly needs reading glasses to read those cue cards and he just can’t help himself from grimacing when she opens her mouth. These two jokers can go take a hike.

  36. Lauren says:

They feel no shame, no shame at all. How can they sit there talking about mental health while their very pregnant sister-in-law was struggling under their noses? They piss me off so much. I feel really sorry for the charity because their work is extremely important, but Willnot and cannot are being dragged to filth in the comments for their hypocrisy.

    • Lorelei says:

@Lauren apparently the organization is shutting down anyway, and these two did nothing to help prevent that from happening, so it’s especially egregious.

  37. Emily_C says:

Openness in “schools, communities, and the workplace,” but I don’t see “family” on that list. Family is the first line of defense when it comes to mental illness, and the first place it’s stigmatized. That’s where a lot more focus needs to be. But I guess that’s too hard — it’s easier to make rules that say the right thing in the workplace than do the long, difficult job of changing the culture.

  38. AMJ says:

She’s a certified, mean a-hole, but I still can’t help but feel sort of sorry for her. One can say it was all her choice… But it’s not like she was some strong, independent woman going into a marriage of convenience with real awareness, actually ok with the cheating and all the pathology that comes with the surname ‘Windsor’. She was a teenager when her pimp mama concocted a plan to marry her off to Will. Kate never had the wits, emotional strength or life experience to develop an independent, mature personality. Instead, she became the sad Waity Katy figure who finally landed the rage monster, cheating douche prince and the job of being his duchess wife. A job that seems to terrify her, as she’s bad at public speaking and seems to want to run away from any meeting the moment she gets there. The marriage and status are all she has, so she holds on to them for dear life. She was desperate and spineless enough to willingly become the Windsor family’s prop and they’ll discard her when Will will be tired of the ‘normal family man Bill’ PR. Once some aristo chick he pines for will actually be dumb enough to want to marry him, the game’s over for Kate. One can easily see she’s a bundle of nerves, now more than ever before and it’s probably because he’s done with the act.

    • Nic919 says:

Kate only got engaged at 29. That’s full on adult and it’s a choice she pursued throughout her 20s. Even if Carole pushed her into it, she could have said no. And more importantly there was no reason for her to be such a mean bitch to Meghan and help the media attack a pregnant woman. If she’s miserable that’s on her at this point. She has never apologized for the false story that she or Carole planted into her media in the first place. So she’s only reaping what she showed at this point.

  39. Lori says:

They ran this last nite on DM. And in 4 hours they couldnt scrape together more than 800 comments. And in those were a mess of “why are they so boring?” And “Is this what we’re paying these 2 twits to do?”. My fav was “your brother got a real job why cant you?”. Mess but it warmed my heart. This was your prize monarchist and you dont even want it!

  40. MangoAngelesque says:

Why does she speak like that? Does she truly believe it makes her sound aristocratic and less “commoner” or something? It’s just ridiculous. William is as weasel-like as ever.

  41. Well Wisher says:

This happens when one creates one’s own reality and have it reinforced by platforms that refuse to report news by the deliberate use of distraction and misinformation. The daily prewritten narrative along with endless of complaints in general to the population by BTM. The gap between preception and reality is a mile long not to mention the concept of open and honest discussion about mental health.
Whilst the first month of Brexit the was a shortfall of exports in the UK by 62% or £5 + billion.
Meanwhile the behaviour of the RF as a firm was callous and deplorabe towards Meghan knowing that the mother’s mental well being can affect the fetus and new born.
These two are on ‘brand’ as usual clueless and cruel.
