Duchess Kate is ‘confident, she’s competent’ & it’s not ‘all a publicity stunt’

The Duchess of Cambridge marks Remembrance Week

The Times of London’s weekend article about the Duchess of Cambridge as “the real royal revolutionary” was pathetic, obvious and frighteningly tone-deaf. As we’ve seen in recent years, the Windsors are very, very bad at this. It’s shocking to see how they used to be considered, at worst, baseline competent at communications, and now they’re left reeling by any story, and seem unable to function at any PR strategy. Everything around Kate is a good example, because I feel like she’s got three different PR camps working on her behalf. There’s Buckingham Palace, eager to set her up as the future queen. There’s Kensington Palace, eager to cover up her laziness and incompetence. And then there’s Middleton HQ, eager to both infantilize Kate and make her sound like a Top CEO who can do it all. The Times’ “royal revolutionary” piece is the product of all three strategies playing out in a disorganized way. The exploitation of murder victim Sarah Everard was only part of the Times piece. The other part was just a general embiggening article, and I’m afraid several people threw out their backs from all of the reaching. Some additional highlights:

Kate is not woke, but she’s not NOT woke: Few royal insiders are expecting Kate suddenly to turn into a fire-breathing apostle of “wokeness”, or even to express the remotest hint of a political belief. She does not issue bold proclamations to compare with, say, the welcome page of Harry and Meghan’s new website, Archewell, which announces: “Through our non-profit work, as well as creative activations, we drive systemic cultural change across all communities, one act of compassion at a time.”

She’s effective because she’s selflessly lazy: Yet Kate is no stranger to acts of compassion, and her low-key approach may strike many as a great deal more effective. “When Harry and Meghan talked to Oprah, they were more concerned about their own welfare; it was all about them and that’s been their narrative all along,” says Penny Junor. “But there’s a difference between service and self-service. I feel real service is doing things selflessly for others. I think that’s what Kate understands.

The Queen of Zoom, I sh-t you not: She won’t be the queen of Britain for a while, but she’s already a queen of Zoom meetings. Through Kensington Palace’s social media feeds she has become an online video-conferencing force to be reckoned with during lockdown, and the causes she supports and the charities she endorses are reaping incalculable benefits. “All the Zoom calls William and Kate have done are showing them in a very good light,” says Jennie Bond, a former BBC royal correspondent. “Usually you just see a tiny bit of them on the telly or a picture in the paper or whatever. But you kind of feel from their work online you’re getting a peek inside their true personalities, inside their homes. They seem much more natural and Kate is coming across as very knowledgeable and compassionate.” Junor adds: “I think the whole of lockdown has opened people’s eyes to working members of the royal family. They are reaching a far wider audience than before and Kate is coming out of it really well.

Kate did something once in 2007: Those with long memories may recall that Kate once embarked on a long-distance rowing project of her own. In 2007 she trained for a cross-Channel attempt as the helmswoman of a dragon boat with an all-women crew, but her then status as William’s girlfriend forced her to give up.

Penny Junor on how Kate isn’t a narcissist: “Kate is just really very good at it in a relaxed, friendly way. She’s not over the top, not ‘me, me, me’ at all. I think she’s absolutely coming into her prime now — she’s confident, she’s competent, and you don’t get the impression that she’s waiting for cameras to be there and it’s all a publicity stunt.”

Penny Junor on the lessons Kate learned from Diana: Kate may have learnt an important lesson from Diana, whose popularity began to outstrip her husband’s. “Charles was Prince of Wales and not used to having the limelight taken from him,” she says. “That caused huge problems. Kate is being very careful to ensure she doesn’t outstrip William. She is not on an ego trip, and her head has not been turned by celebrity. Kate is a working woman doing a job. She didn’t leave the human race when she joined Planet Windsor.”

[From The Times of London]

Kate the Keen: stealing all the good things about Meghan, in a white package. That’s the short version. And would this current version of Kate the “competent” (I laughed) exist without Meghan as her foil? Why did Meghan and Harry even need Frogmore Cottage when Meghan lives rent-free in all of their heads? Meghan: *breathes* Kate: “I breathed first and I breathe better because I’m not woke-breathing and I’m not trying to take attention away from my husband when I make everything about how I’m much better than Meghan!!” Lord, this mess. And the Queen of Zoom thing SENT ME. How can one be a Top CEO, the Queen of Zoom, and careful enough to not overshadow her thin-skinned incandescent husband?

Anyway, the rule of thumb is always “if they’re trying this hard to make a story happen, you know the opposite is true.”

  1. JT says:

If you can’t write about how amazing Kate is, without mentioning Meghan, than perhaps Top CEO is not that great. And still they cannot mention what the supposed work that Kate is doing is. She works so hard, but at what? Their most recent work example is from a 2007 rowing competition that she didn’t even finish. No Early Years, or Hold Still?

    • Kaiser says:

To be fair, there were some mentions of Early Years and Hold Still in this piece, but it was just dumb stuff about how she’s God’s gift for doing a Twitter video, I sh-t you not.

      • JT says:

So this article isn’t completely useless then. The PR around this woman is so dumb. All she has to do is just show up. She has an entire country’s worth of media just ready hype up anything she does and she still does nothing.

      • Becks1 says:

They can mention the Early Years or Hold Still but they cant focus on it, because they dont want people to ask a) what’s happening with the Early Years or b) how involved was Kate with Hold Still. KP is trying to present it as her big project, my guess is she just promoted it (barely) and then signed her name to the foreword. (Which is okay in theory, nothing wrong with that, but its not the same as spearheading a project.)

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

They just need to make it stop. We’ve long accepted Kate for what she was/is, a do nothing duchess whose sole aim was to pop out babies and not over shadow William. The one sided upmanship with Meghan was when it all began to unravel for her.

So far, apart from the British establishment, press and RF, we’ve had her mum, uncle, stylist, dressers, embroiderer, jeweller, hairdresser all come out to embiggen her and abuse Meghan on her behalf. However the facts speak for themselves. She made no impact or contributed much to the betterment of the people of the UK. As the queen once asked, what does Kate actually do?

      • Mustlovedogs says:

Penny had some typos. Fixed them for her.

“Kate is just really very BAD at it in a UNrelaxed, UNfriendly way. She’s over the top, All ‘me, me, me’. I think she’s absolutely PAST coming into her prime now — she’s NOT confident, she’s INcompetent, and you get the impression that she’s waiting for cameras to be there and it’s all a publicity stunt.”

    • Agreatreckoning says:

What JT said about always needing to bring Meghan into the conversations/stories about Kate. If Junor really felt Kate is confident in her competence she wouldn’t feel the need to make any comparison to Meghan in her stories. It’s a hard sell tactic.

In 2012 the Independent had an article about Junor’s book about William. In the article Junor said, “The monarchy needs publicity;they must be seen to be relevant. Unfortunately, they can’t just lead quiet lives”.

Junor seems to be working hard on the relevancy angle and making the minor things done seem important.

Nope, Kate is not waiting for the cameras to be there. No need to wait when you tell them to be there in advance.

      • Amy Too says:

This part here pretty much sums it up:
“All the Zoom calls William and Kate have done are showing them in a very good light…”

The zoom calls aren’t putting the charities in a good light, or drawing attention to the charities and the work being done, the zoom calls are making Will and Kate looks good and giving a glimpse into their home and life. It is ALL about PR for the royals. And then she has the gall to say that it’s NOT about PR or the cameras for Kate, she’s just quietly doing the work. But the work isn’t mentioned except in the context of how Will and Kate look good doing the work. I am so sick of the royals.

    • PEARL GREY says:

Since 2017, it has been impossible for the British press to compliment Kate without making digs and comparisons to Meghan. Her entire rebranding has been purely based on marketing her as the “Anti-Meghan”, while bizarrely assigning the very qualities they deride Meghan for onto Kate. After 10 years as a royal and over 15 years in the public eye, to have no real identity of her own, no real achievements in all this time, no real commendation except for fake platitudes earned at someone else’s expense and no real legacy, speaks volumes to what a waste her whole royal career has been and will continue to be. Kate needed to stand on Meghan’s back to be tall.

——“Those with long memories may recall that Kate once embarked on a long-distance rowing project of her own. In 2007 she trained for a cross-Channel attempt as the helmswoman of a dragon boat with an all-women crew, but her then status as William’s girlfriend forced her to give up.”——

There they go rewriting history again. She was not forced to give up anything. She went to go train for the rowing to occupy herself when William dumped her, then left the team in the lurch and dropped out when William called her back. That’s what a feminist icon Kate the Great is, using women and feigning interest in charity to pass the time in between breakups, then abandoning them for a man. Such selfless service! Yet another project Kate didn’t complete.

      • Lorelei says:

Their desperation is showing even more than usual recently because they’ve been taking their comments WAY too far, veering into territory that just makes them laughable — Uncle Gary claiming she’s “the most spectacular person he’s ever met” (lmao), now Bond saying she’s a Zoom “force to be reckoned with.”

The fact that they’re trying this hard to make it sound as if Kate’s the best thing to ever happen to the BRF only shows how hard they know they need to work to cover up for the fact that in reality, she does nothing, and that she lied about Meghan for months, reaping the benefits, until she was outed on live television.

On a superficial level, the photos of her diligently studying and taking notes on those graphs/charts up on that screen will never not be hilarious.

      • Tessa says:

She got a lot of photo ops with that boat race then quickly ducked out of it when William called.

      • Lyds says:

Imagine if the reverse was true — if every time an article about Meghan automatically mentions Kate:

“Meghan’s sense of industry and business acumen far outshine that of her sister-in-law Kate’s, who, so far, only lifts a finger to be the Queen of Zoom and fails to see how exploiting the death of a murdered woman for personal PR is just bad for royal business. Unlike Kate, whose ‘me me me’ projects only point to ‘her her her,’ people actually remember the names and works of the charities behind which Meghan throws her support. While Kate will take on a (feminist) cause when it’s convenient and disappear when too many (legal) questions arise, Meghan’s projects are only unveiled once all the parts have come together, everything is coherent and in order, and the avenues for donation and/or project proceeds are made clear and available.”

The British media: you can’t handle the truth.

  3. Cecilia says:

Anybody think that this conflicting pr among kate is a sign that bts all is not well in the Cambs marriage?

    • Maria says:

I do and I don’t care if it makes me a bad person, I’m hoping their marriage does crumble publicly, because the amount of effort and pressure and harassment that both of them have put forth trying to make Harry and Meghan’s marriage crumble makes it so it would serve them right.
I feel bad for the kids. That’s it. But there is an entire universe of adults around them who don’t give a shit about their ultimate well being and my opinion won’t change that.

      • Cessily says:

        I agree with you @Maria.

      • Cessily says:

I agree with you @Maria. It would be so simple if the BRF took initiative and made a statement condemning the articles still leaking about the Sussex’s. It will never happen, so you know they care nothing about mending family ties, just their public image.
This is cruel and after all these years, it is targeted psychological abuse and should be criminal. No gossip articles should be allowed to hide sources. (Real news is not what this is so they shouldn’t be allowed the same rights).
Anyone this heartless is not happy, I can not imagine what a nightmare their private lives are.

      • notasugarhere says:

The kids would be better off if their parents were happily divorced instead of miserably married.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

All is not well but they will soldier on for a bit. Then Baldingham will have an epic mid life crisis and will decide he needs to be with someone who makes him happy as life is too short to wait around for the throne.

    • Becks1 says:

100%. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark (apologies to Danish people on here lol) and I think its all going to come out. I would have said that it will come out eventually, but I think this latest PR push is so desperate and so over the top that its going to come out sooner rather than later.

      • Cecilia says:

It’s interesting because last week i was looking at tweet of their st. Patricks day pr and people (who are normally not in the royal fold) were actually calling out the state of their marriage. I saw comments like:
“If she could throw him under a bus, she would”
“ there’s no way these 2 are having sex” etc etc. It was quite fascinating really because we have been pointing it out for some time, but sometimes it feels like we are talking in an echo chamber.

      • Nyro says:

Cecilia, it’s no coincidence that the BM went out if their way to claim the Cambridge were “flirting” in that video. Now there’s CA new Hello article about how they’re “more in love” than ever. Just from looking at them and then looking at their PR, it’s quite clear all is not well at home.

    • kelleybelle says:

Something has been wrong since just after Charlotte was born I think.

      • Jaded says:

I’m surprised she managed to pop out another baby after that. I guess it was a consolation prize for Baldy’s latest affair along with the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order Petty Betty gave her.

      • Nic919 says:

William wasn’t around much when she was pregnant with George so I would say issues were going on then. She had to drive herself to the hospital when she was pregnant with George .

  4. Lady D says:

Is it William they are trying to convince? Who is their actual audience here? Her fans already love her, and even if they don’t they are still going to rally to her before Meghan any day, so who is this article for? It has to be for the US press which means the Cambridges are really starting to worry about how they are appearing to the masses.
Perhaps the reporter is getting paid by the word?

    • Cecilia says:

They are trying to appeal kate to a younger generation. Whether abroad or in britain

    • Snuffles says:

      @ladyd @cecilia

There are multiple things at play going on but the pieces on Kate scream desperate attempt to prove how invaluable she is. Each article is progressively more psychotic.

If the gossip is to be believed, Will and his rose bush have been hot and heavy for years. Was the original reason that Harry and William fell out before Meghan was even a thing. Apparently Meghan tried to tell Kate she shouldn’t put up with it which clearly didn’t go over well. All signs point to Will and Kate living in separate residences. With Will being closer to his rose bushes.

It would seem like Will has his Camila and might be thinking of pushing Kate out. I could easily see him laying the blame of Sussexit on Kate and her meddling mother. It wouldn’t be hard because they definitely played a huge part.

      • notasugarhere says:

No, Harry and William did not fall out over William’s cheating. William has always cheated, has cheated on Kate for two decades, and Harry knows it. How William conducts himself in his ‘marriage’ is not Harry’s concern, nor is he going to fight with his known-cheater brother over Katie Keen. That idea belongs firmly in the realm of fan fiction on tumblr.

      • Carmen-JamRock says:

Why do so-called admirers of M insist on painting her as someone who wd interfere in other people’s marriage by telling one party to said marriage wht she should or shouldnt “put up with.”

I mean srsly…..M officially became a member of the brf on May 19, 2018. The Sussexes’ tenure as wkng members of the brf effectively ended Nov 1, 2019 when they left for canada, first, for an extended family vacay, then never to rtn to their former status.

Within tht 17 mnth period, M not only achieved more in “royal work” than any other married-in in the history of the brf, but she excelled at it…creating records & an indelible impression.

She was also pregnant for 9 of those 17 mts & birthed & nursed a newborn while achieving all the other things she did, including:
THREE!! overseas tours & 1 uk tour; planned & successfully launched 2 big self-sustaining charity initiatives (Hub Comm Ckbk & SmartWks capsule coll.); took on 4 patronages as well as a joint charity wth her husband (QCT); created VogueUK history by guest-editing the most successful/fastest selling edition in Vogue history; wrote her own speeches & delivered them to large audiences; actively promoted women & girls’ empowerment; and inspired folks all over the globe.

In 17 months of “royal work” – 15 of which were while she was pregnant then nursing a newborn (0-6mts.)

Given 26 years of evidence of her work ethic, her utterances, and the activities & entities she has publicly supported (i:e since the age of 13) and wht all this says abt her personal & professional ethos where, pray tell, is the evidence tht she has or wd ever interefere in other people’s marriage such tht she wd tell a SIL whom she barely knew, wht said SIL should or shouldnt “put up wth” in her marriage?

        JFC!

      • swirlmamad says:

Harry doesn’t give a rat’s a*s about Will cheating. Period. He may be disappointed and disgusted by his brother’s actions, but that is not the reason why they fell out. Now throwing his innocent wife into the viper pit? THAT’S why they fell out.

      • Gabby says:

OMG Snuffles, if your last paragraph is true that would be hilarious.

      • Nic919 says:

Harry would have been upset that William was giving the media stories to attack Meghan in order to hide his cheating, but Harry knew William was a cheater for years. Kate tolerated it so it wasn’t for Harry to interfere. Now going after his own wife would get Harry mad. And Meghan likely knew that William was cheating on Kate, since it wasn’t hidden, but outside of being sympathetic I don’t see Meghan speaking to Kate about it. It’s not like they were ever friends.

      • Keri says:

Agreeing with Snuffles. I’ve heard the rumor that Meghan tried to tell Kate she shouldn’t have to put up with Willie’s wandering scepter, too. It would explain why Willie hates her so much, although her melanin and his racist tendencies played a huge part in his hate too. I can see Kate trying to confront him and Willie realizing that she could potentially grow a backbone under Meghan’s influence. I mean, before Meghan, he cheated on Kate constantly and she still always took him back. In fact, she chased him, regardless of what he did to her. Along comes Meghan who makes no effort to hide her feminism and she dares to tell Kate she has a right to be angry. I can see Baldemort turning incandescent at the realization. It’s no wonder that the smear campaign against her went full throttle soon after.

I do think that Harry cared that William was cheating on Kate so blatantly. Not because he cared about Kate all that much (I do think he felt bad for her), but because he is a decent person. Before he ever met Meghan, he was getting thrown under the bus for Will’s misdeeds. I’m guessing he suspected for awhile that Will would leak to the press about him to deflect attention away from his own shenanigans but when Meghan came into the picture, it became clearer for him. The heightened media attacks against Meghan pretty much proved to Harry what he suspected of William all along.

      • notasugarhere says:

Kate call out William on his cheating at Meghan’s insistence? LOL. More fan fiction. Kate knows William is a cheater, always has been always will be. That’s part of the deal for their business arrangement. Harry wouldn’t concern himself with William cheating on Kate, because he always has and Kate has accepted it. Harry and Kate aren’t friends, aren’t close, Kate isn’t a concern in Harry’s life.

  5. Merricat says:

Really, if you buy this horseshit, I have a reservoir in Florida that I’d like to sell to you.

  6. Neners says:

Meanwhile, her patronages are shutting down left, right, and center because Kate can’t be arsed to actually raise money for them. They keep trying to polish the turd and they just end of smearing crap everywhere.

    • Lorelei says:

@Neners it disgusts me that this doesn’t get more coverage in the press. I understand why they want to try and shove it onto the back burner so they can keep pushing the Cambridges as the saviors of the BRF, but Kate took on responsibilities when she signed on to become a patron, and as far as we know, she didn’t so much as lift a finger to try and help raise funds to avoid the closures. (We’ve already talked here about all of the different, creative ways she could have gone about this.)

Real people (their “subjects” who pay for their extravagant lifestyles) are going to be negatively affected by these organizations shutting down — both employees who are now jobless as well as anyone who benefited from the work they did — but the media just wants to keep blowing sunshine up the Cambridges’ asses and telling everyone every single day how awful Harry and Meghan are instead of reporting on REAL news like Kate’s total inaction as her patronages, which she was supposedly so “passionate” about, shut down due to bankruptcy.

  7. Who ARE these people? says:

Needing propaganda, it’s not a good sign about her reality.

  8. Amy Bee says:

This entire article was written with the aim of trying to prove that Kate is not Meghan but she’s better than Meghan. I’d feel sorry for her if she wasn’t such a terrible person but I hope she forever lives in the shadow of Meghan.

    • Nyro says:

She will forever live in Meghan’s shadow. The pandemic is still raging and so this is actually a breather for Kate. She won’t be able to see the light of day once it’s over and Meghan is out in the world doing her thing.

  9. Miranda says:

“In 2007 she trained for a cross-Channel attempt as the helmswoman of a dragon boat with an all-women crew, but her then status as William’s girlfriend forced her to give up.”

She really, really wanted to have her little grand-standing “girl power” moment, you guys! But she was simply far too busy being subservient to her boyfriend.

    • Maria says:

That part was so sad. She only joined that in 2007 during their breakup and started hanging out with Killing Kittens “I’d love to mass murder Muslims” Emma Sayle so she could be papped in makeup and earrings “training”, she even did a tacit sit down with Hello magazine for it, then as soon as William wanted to get back together she dropped out because they were going on vacation.
There were even whisperings that he and others told her to still do it and she refused.
The other girls were understandably not happy!

    • Nyro says:

I had no idea about this all-female channel crossing story but it’s the most interesting and inspiring thing I’ve ever heard about that lazy soulless woman. And the fact that she quit such an amazing and impressive challenge to go chase after William is the most on-brand Kate thing I’ve ever heard.

    • notasugarhere says:

The only reason she did that paddling around bit was to get PR attention during one of their many breakups. The second he called her for a booty call, she dropped the pretense of caring and ran.

  10. Pétulia says:

After 10 years on the job what project of hers has truly made an impact in people’s lives ? These articles propping up Kate really pisses me off. Do they even realize that all of this is only working on the royalists and the hate Meghan crew ?

  11. Becks1 says:

In regards to the Times tweet – NO, she will not bring about real institutional change because she doesnt want to, and because she’s lazy AF.

This article is so bad. If I was someone in the UK who paid for these people, I’d be so insulted and ticked. She’s amazing because she zooms once a week? She’s amazing because she….is white? Does no one over there in British press-land or Kensington Palace realize how bad and stupid this makes Kate look? It just highlights how much of a revolutionary she ISNT.

    • Cecilia says:

No they don’t realize it because they hardcore fanbase will drink it up regardless. Royalist and royals (and the coordinating press) all live in the same bubble and nobody has given them a reality check and it shows

      • Lady D says:

A quick tour of Oz will give them the reality check they need.

      • Dollycoa says:

The hardcore fanbase is pretty elderly and will be dead by the time Wills and Kate really need their support. The Times were being widely roasted in the comments section for this drivel.

  12. Lauren says:

Yikes! This article is just one huge yikes! Keen Guevara is the perfect ffq because she breathes. Like literally. They are praising her for breathing and existing, for not having a personality, no interests no nothing. I recall Keen’s famous look at me Bill attempt in 2007. Bill had dumped her and she took up rowing to show him what he was missing and as soon as he came calling she dumped her rowing team. Such an extraordinary example of independence, selflove. She is such a doormat. They are trying to portray her as a figurehead for the modern woman, but all I get is victorian wife.

    • Rebecca says:

“Keen Guevara”… dying! Love it, and this shall be my nickname for Kate going forward. Thank you!

  13. Aidevee says:

    A cavalcade of absolute lunacy.
The Twitter comments are savage, as they ought to be.

Its hilarious and also awful how passive aggressive they can all be, all under the supposed guise of ‘service’ and ‘duty’.

I honestly couldn’t normally give a stuff about the royal family (along with 99% of Britain). However, stuff like this makes me want to get rid of the whole bloody thing.

How dare she let herself be proclaimed as some kind of Queen of Zoom when the rest of us have been working so hard all the way through this pandemic doing real jobs that actually matter.

    Makes my blood boil, honestly.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

They are too stupid and tone deaf to realise how this sort of crap makes them look. To those who work hard or to those who’ve lost their livelihoods during covid, Keen Dolittle Guevara is a joke.

  14. Over it says:

I am really laughing, penny, penny , penny , do you buy extra moisturizing chapstick for all the Karen keen ass kissing you are doing? I don’t recall your zoom queen doing a drop of work last week. I could be wrong but since Kaiser didn’t cover it, it didn’t happen as I get all my royal updates from her. I guess it’s only fair she gets her week of look how good and white I am . Last week was baldimort the other brother turn. These two are pathetic. Do some actual meaningful work and you won’t need all this hype for doing nothing.

    • LRob says:

This is my whole response to all of them, including H&M. Just do the work with integrity and compassion and the work will speak for itself. The Sussexes know this and do this naturally. And no matter how many pennys claim the couple does it to draw attention to “me me me”, the reach and impact of their work tells the story with more honesty. In other words, BP,CH, KP: shut up and get back to work.

  15. Over it says:

The best part is how she gave up the one time row because Willy needed his mattress again. She wasn’t even engaged at that point.she is just a call girl to him.

  16. two_seconds_ago says:

Wow, Carole is really burning the midnight oil, working overtime with these Kate fluff pieces. Someone give her some chutney for her hard work.

    • Hell Nah! says:

“Someone give her some chutney for her hard work.”

two_seconds_ago, I am choking with laughter. Thank you.

  17. Ginger says:

Just a reminder that Kate was not praised by the press before Meghan. She was constantly dragged for being lazy, boring and dumb. The press did not like her or Will. These same reporters praising her are the same that think she is lazy, boring and dumb.

Kate didn’t get that much heat from the interview but she is doing the most. All
Meghan did was correct a story ( that Kate had 2 years to correct) that’s it.

Kate wants people to believe that she never puts a foot wrong but that isn’t realistic.
There is no such thing. We all make mistakes, that’s what makes us human. Apparently, Kate doesn’t want to be seen as a human.

Yeah. I think Kate should have corrected the crying story, for sure. But I also think she has been making concessions to stay in that vipers nest for so long that she probably is a complete asshole at this point. I don’t see how anyone could marry in, and stay that long, and not be a flawed person.

    • Maria says:

I remember things differently. The press for her was mostly positive. You had the occasional article making fun of her grey hair or expensive wardrobe or kitchen renovations, but that was it. She was never dragged even if there was occasional ridicule. Absolutely NOTHING on the level of what Meghan endured.

      • Ginger says:

No one gets it as bad as Meghan but they would call Kate out for being lazy. Emily Andrews article of their tour to India is pretty brutal. She said they don’t have a personality between them. Kate would get bad press from time to time but now the British press make her out to be as some saint.

  18. aquarius64 says:

This fluff piece works in the UK only. This is the wife of the future head of state and thanks to Oprah she looks like a mess worldwide. Oprah’s interview will be a month old this Wednesday and KP is still cleaning up the crime scene. No amount of bleach is not going to enough to get up these emotional blood splatters.

  19. Noodle says:

So she’s confident and competent, yet also painfully shy?

  20. HeatherC says:

Oh dear, is Katie Keen Guevara, Top CEO and Queen of Doom….oops I meant Zoom, finding her voice AGAIN?!

But will we be able to understand her when she uses this newfound (again) voice?

    • Noodle says:

      Katie Keen Guevara. Hilarious.

I do find it offensive that they have appropriated his image for this purpose, though. Can you imagine what he would think of all these people? Hopefully they don’t find me too woke for questioning the imagery. I’m not woke, but not NOT woke, after all.

  21. Amelie says:

Uh… did someone honestly think it was a good idea to put Kate’s likeness into an iconic portrait of Che Guevara??? I would LOVE to have been privy to those internal discussions.

Also I’m already predicting that in addition to Top CEO and Katie Keen, Queen of Zoom is going to become another one of her ongoing nicknames here lol.

Also I remember that weird story about Kate becoming the helmswoman of the dragon boat stunt. She had just publicly broken up with William and at the time I didn’t know much about her (I was in college then) and I was like “Good for her, keep her focus off heartbreak and staying busy.” Now I look back at the publicity stunt it obviously was–showing off to William she could still get attention from the press and most likely wanted to show off how good she looked in her form fitting workout clothes. I just read a few articles about that and I didn’t realize the team was training for a charity race across the English Channel! Imagine how much goodwill Kate would have gotten had she followed through. But her plan to get William back worked–they got back together and supposedly she dropped out of the event a week before the race was to take place because the Palace made her or whatever after the team had been training together for two months. The race organizer had nothing nice to say about Kate and her stunt and I can’t blame her.

    • Carabella says:

Yes, the charity boat race team was used by Kate for her “Queen of the helm” photo stunt.

  22. kelleybelle says:

Always the perfect head tilt when being photographed, always. “I’m listening so intently,” “I’m so concerned.” Complete with botox shine in the pic wearing the white blouse with black collar. Another load of bollox to cover for her overwhelming incompetency.

  23. Tulip says:

Interestingly this is far too blatant and frankly nonsensical an embiggening to even get past the commenting section in the Times, which tends anti-Sussex …. how many times can they f* it up this badly without realising how truly awful they are at this

  24. Catherine says:

I don’t think the future Queen stuff comes out of Buckingham Palace. Remember she was the Duchess of Dolittle before Meghan showed up. The Future Queen stuff went into maximum overdrive after Meghan demonstrated how absolutely good at the job she was. So to me it is definitely part of the KP PR job. I do think that BP’s desire to keep her happy and in line post William’s affair led them coordinate with KP in the smear campaign against Meghan. I think everyone in that family was perfectly fine with Meghan being demean especially the women. It wasn’t just Kate that got more attention of better press while Meghan was being abused. Camilla, Sophie, Fergie, Eugenie, Beatrice and Zara suddenly were being covered more and being propped up.

  25. Cee says:

It’s the same old tactic every single time. It’s so boring.

  26. Carabella says:

The Sunday Times is ‘aving a larf.

  27. Jaded says:

The only thing she’s competent at is dodging work and making babies. Oh, and putting up with a balding, philandering, tantrum-throwing twat of a husband.

    • JanetDR says:

And I would not care a bit of that was what she wanted (I might feel differently if I were from the UK), but the constant messaging of how wonderful she is/was/will be is annoying.

  28. kelleybelle says:

When you have to say “It’s not a publicity stunt,” it’s a publicity stunt. If you have to say, “This is not a vanity project,” it’s a vanity project. Do they really think we’re that stupid? I t hink they really do.

  29. equality says:

She “didn’t leave the human race” when she married into the RF. Did somebody suggest she did? They are all just regular humans despite the fact that they believe that their blood is “special” and “chosen”.

  30. Jenn says:

All these photos of Kate have a real “Women Laughing Alone with Salad” vibe

    • Nic919 says:

The photo selection in this article and the other one today have been spectacular. Kate looking heartless and out of touch in all of them.

    • Deering24 says:

      🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  31. Robin says:

Kate as an employee in any normal firm would have been sacked years ago. Let’s face it, she wouldn’t even have made it through the probation period. She’s been doing this work for over a decade and is now “competent” and becoming confident. Seriously?! This is a forty year old woman who’s had a massive amount of support, funding and input to get this far. She can barely speak properly, let alone engage with any confidence or spontaneity. It is obviously really hard for her to cope with conversations and situations that don’t go to script. She seems anxious in company, largely I think because she is self-aware enough to know she doesn’t have the breadth of knowledge, culture or simple charm to get by. She looks as if engaging with people is nerve-wracking for her. Essentially, these articles are telling us Kate is quite good at her job. For most people that would be insulting. The honest truth is she’s failing at her job, publicly, every day.

  32. Well Wisher says:

If she was that confident, etc there would not be a need for this article. Would the BTM stop bastardising the word ‘ woke’ , it has become synonymous with their grievance culture, it would be helpful if they can create their own words since they have a distinct culture.
Penny Junor! That’s all I will say.

  33. TigerMcQueen says:

The Queen of Zoom is both embarrassing (for the writer and Kate) and insulting (to all other competent human beings who have worked in extraordinary circumstances during this pandemic).

“an online video-conferencing force to be reckoned with during lockdown”

LMAO, I just can’t. This is worse than ‘top CEO’. Is Bridget Jones writing this drivel?

“…and the causes she supports and the charities she endorses are reaping incalculable benefits.”

But have they really? What benefits? Can you calculate any such benefits before throwing out the ridiculous over-the-top ‘incalculable’???

  34. Maria says:

Also, I attended University of Warwick and I remember when I worked in the fundraising sphere our department contacted Jennie Bond and she was a total ass!

  35. The Recluse says:

    Hahahahahahahahaha….she’s such a try-hard wannabe.

  36. Deering24 says:

“In 2007 she trained for a cross-Channel attempt as the helmswoman of a dragon boat with an all-women crew, but her then status as William’s girlfriend forced her to give up.”

Awww, poor wittle puff. 🤮 Come on. If she’d really wanted to do it, nothing would have stopped her. God forbid she do anything on her own or that wouldn’t reflect on Prospective Royal Hubby. Sheesh. What an ofWife.

  37. Christine says:

Jesus. Welp, let’s call it. They are all the way off the rails if they think any of this is going to catch fire. They are playing to the bottom 5%, in England. A tiny little bigoted island. Peace be with you.
