Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s ginormous Bottega Veneta tote: love it or hate it?

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looks stunning in NYC holding a big purse

I love purses. Purses and jewelry, I could talk about them all day. So let’s talk about Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s amazing purse!! Rosie was in New York this week, and I think she was working, perhaps going to some meetings, who knows. She’s a mom now too, so instead of carrying around a chic diaper bag, Rosie is using one of the largest shoulder bags I’ve ever seen in my life!! I’m obsessed!

Most of Rosie’s outfit in these pics is from Bottega Veneta – the trench is from that label, and it retails for over $5500, which is insane for a trench coat. The ginormous purse and and sandals are also Bottega Veneta. I love a big purse, and one of my requirements for an everyday purse is that it has to be big enough for my iPad, my big wallet and assorted pens, receipts and Tic Tacs. This purse could easily carry like five iPads. And a box of tampons, and a water bottle and diapers and kid stuff and ten phones. I love the fact that she’s carrying her phone too – like, wouldn’t her phone fit in that purse? She’s probably scared she would lose it in that behemoth.

Rosie also stepped out the same day (Tuesday) in a completely different out and I love this look too. There’s something so chic about a pencil skirt and a fuzzy sweater.

I have one of these! It hangs on the side of my house and is full of peat moss and plants.

    Money sure doesn’t buy taste.

It looks like alien technology, like it has moving parts! I love it! And she’s pulling it off!

I love this a lot more than the Birkin thing that was all over the place. Wear a crazy bag. Give me something interesting to look at.

That handbag is Borg, resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

Agreed. I love this purse and I’d totally get one. I’m on the hunt for a diaper bag and I would give this (or a slightly smaller one) a look for that purpose (or something else).

The bag just seems inconvenient to me. It’s too big, looks uncomfortable to carry, and impossible to put down. But a bunch of people will probably pay crap tons of money for it.

I do love the black outfit – it’s really pretty and very sharp. The shoes aren’t great though. She looks like she’s coming out of them.

Didn’t carry a purse the whole pandemic, was afraid to get it cootie’d then t’would infect entire mud room.
I have a nice floppy leather bag & going boho into old age. Hippy Granny =classic, timeless, plus cheaper w more creative & eclectic range.

Me neither, I’ve taken to carrying my wallet (which has a wrist strap and which my phone can fit in in a pinch) and clipping my car key (pushbutton ignition) to it. I kinda like my new pared-down aesthetic. My husband got me a pretty new bag for my birthday in February, though, so I also look forward to returning to carrying a bag when I actually go places again.

  5. Mrs. Peel says:

She wears it well on her tall, thin frame; but it would overwhelm most women.

I had no idea she had a child with JS. He seems like a total douche but to their own. She looks good.

    • Millenial says:

Yes! She seems really sweet, but I’ve long heard rumors about him being a bit of a dog behind her back. They are one of those permanently engaged couples, I think.

    • Tiffany says:

I have always felt she could do better than Straham. Now they have a child together maybe I should soften my stance.

      Nope. Can’t do it.

  7. Dee says:

Me: (calculating how many cute puppies I could fit in that bag) I’ll take it!

    • BeanieBean says:

But that’s the thing. I’m willing to bet that because of the shape, it doesn’t really hold all that much; it’s rather narrow as well as semi-circular. And whatever you do manage to fit in there, probably all clusters at the bottom.

One spill of something liquid & it’s all done for. Plus imagine this lopsided. I could see this tiny as a going out bag, kind of 80’s & just for lipgloss, powder, ID & cc ?

      • SarahCS says:

Maybe just a couple of dachshunds then?

I love the black outfit too. The purse is cool but it almost doesn’t look like a purse. It looks like a very high-end round modern leather cushion that has been cut in half or something. I like functional fashion and that just doesn’t seem functional, more like a runway piece.

    • Sarah says:

Yes! It’s like she removed the entire storage section from the door of her limo.

      Love the black outfit, though.

I’m a lover of huge bags. I have a lot. This one is a thumbs down.

  10. Woke says:

She has the perfect height for it. It wouldn’t look this good on a more petite person

I generally like Bottega Veneta ( way beyond my pay grade). They have some interesting bags.It looks like a giant shell but I’d like it more if the straps were longer.I think I kinda like it. Love the fuzzy sweater/skirt combo but hate the shoes. Not ready for toes yet.

  12. Amber says:

this bag is comically large even on someone tall like her. It reminds me of the trend for giant bags in the mid/late 2000s. I personally like small bags. I hate having a lot of stuff with me. As long as I can fit my sunglasses case, my phone, card holder, lipstick, and keys, I’m set.

  13. KinChicago says:

    LOVE IT
Ever since the plastic bag bans- i find myself needing a bigger and bigger bag to carry everything in. It just isn’t cute to haul a purse, a duffel bag, a lunch bag and still need another if headed to the drugstore on the way home.

  14. Easi says:

This bag is going in the sale bin at Saks soon.

  15. Bella says:

I love fashion, but I don’t love that bag. It seems awkward and heavy. Love the black outfit, but not the shoes.

  16. K says:

I love big bags and I cannot lie
But this one offends my eye
That’s all I got. Segmented things gross me out it looks to specimen like

  17. Liz version 700 says:

Uugh my chronic neck pain just got worse looking at that. But she seems to wear it with flair lol

  18. Amando says:

I laughed when I saw it. I love bags, but that one is huge and awkward.

  19. jbones says:

I used to love a big bag, bagpack/diaper bag, but I switched to a fanny pack. Ideal for COVID times convenience, I don’t have to worry about what my big ass purse touched at work or while shopping. Hands/shoulder free! It fits everything I need: phone, bank cards, hand sanitizer, mask, mints, red lipstick for a passenger side pick me up. Essentials.

  20. Elizabeth says:

Seems I’m in the minority, but I love it. As a kid I swore I’d never have “mom purses” – AKA large bags. Now that I’m an adult and myself a mom I LOVE a big tote! There’s no way I could or would afford this bag, but boy would I love to have a knockoff. ha!

  21. Aries-Mira says:

Holy that purse is fugly! An over-priced duffel bag.
