Duchess Kate ‘really came of age’ at Philip’s funeral, she is ‘maturing rapidly’

The Funeral Of Prince Philip, Duke Of Edinburgh Is Held In Windsor

In case you didn’t notice, the royals are back to their regularly scheduled programming, and that means an endless amount of sugary embiggening for the Duchess of Cambridge in particular. Prince William and Kate celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary on April 29th, and before Prince Philip passed away, the Keens were set to spend the entire month on their Future King and Future Queen embiggening project. We’re back to that, and they’ve even added Kate’s keen performance at Philip’s funeral as further evidence of Kate’s future-queen vibes. The thing is, the way they keep going on and on about the way Kate behaved at the funeral, it does feel like Kate is just exploiting another dead person, much like she did with Sarah Everard.

Kate Middleton is set to ‘step up’ and ‘take on the role of future Queen’ following the death of Prince Philip, a royal expert has claimed. Speaking exclusively to FEMAIL, royal biographer Phil Dampier said Kate is ‘maturing rapidly in her role’ as she approaches her 10 year anniversary of marrying Prince William and becoming a royal.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 39, is said to have played peacemaker between Prince William and Harry at the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral last week, because ‘like the Queen she doesn’t hold grudges or seek revenge’.

‘At Prince Philip’s funeral Kate really came of age,’ Phil told FEMAIL. ‘She comforted Prince Charles with an affectionate kiss and hug, brought William and Harry together, and very much gave a quiet dignity to proceedings. She reportedly took part in a chat at Frogmore Cottage, along with Charles and William, to heal the wounds with Harry. That must have been hard after what Harry and Meghan said about her in the Oprah Winfrey interview, but Kate is maturing rapidly and wants to do what’s best for the royal family.’

Following the loss, Phil said that the royal is set to take on more responsibility within the firm. ‘She has picked up many of the Queen’s qualities of tolerance and pragmatism, not overreacting to situations but trying to decide what is best in the long run,’ he said. ‘Like the Queen she doesn’t hold grudges or seek revenge. Kate realises that the Queen needs her and William more than ever and she will do all she can to support her,’ he added.

Phil also explained that the royal is likely to take on a bigger role as the Queen, Charles, Camilla and Anne age. ‘I expect to see her alongside the Queen on public engagements in future, as well as other members of the family. ‘With the Queen now 95, Charles, Camilla and Anne in their seventies, a lot is resting on William and Kate. They have enjoyed long periods of family life in Norfolk, trying to give their children the most normal upbringing as possible. But now they will have to step up to the plate as a future king and queen and Kate looks ready to play her part.’

[From The Daily Mail]

“They have enjoyed long periods of family life in Norfolk…But now they will have to step up to the plate…” Ruh-roh. The embiggeners giveth and the embiggeners taketh away. Someone is going to be incandescent with the suggestion that he and Kate need to step up and do more! And that’s all that will happen too – there will be calls for Will and Kate to do more, Baldemort will fly into a rage and nothing will happen. Rinse and repeat. I would “worry” about the fate of the monarchy with the Keens in charge, except they are both too lazy to really do much.

Also, this is like the third time a royal commentator has used the word “revenge” re: Kate’s behavior at the funeral. It’s always “Kate could have sought revenge but she didn’t, which makes her a true future queen.” And I just have to ask a few things about that. One, what kind of revenge would Kate have sought AT A FUNERAL? Was she fighting the urge to trip Harry during the funeral procession? The idea that “revenge” keeps coming up in these stories makes me feel like this is a new Keen narrative, that Kate in particular is so special and she wants credit for not being a petty, punitive, vengeful a–hole. When… she IS a petty, punitive, vengeful a–hole. So is William. The Keens are telling on themselves, and the royal commentators are telling on ‘em too.

  1. Case says:

This nearly 40-year old woman has been “coming of age” for an awfully long time.

    • Jane says:

I do wonder what age the royal family thinks people become adults. Because if it’s 50, that explains a lot and is what allows them to write off Andrew’s behaviour as simply a youthful indiscretion.

      • Doulton says:

Bear with me—I am quite elderly. What the royal family lacks today is a great supporting cast of characters. Many millions of North Americans were enchanted, or intrigued, or amused…by the characters of Princess Margaret Rose and the Queen Mum. Some of their antics were over-the-top or even downright trashy, but they were such wonderful supporting characters.

        Bathed in nostalgia……

      • Victoria says:

Yeah, I’ll pass on the nostalgia. Supporting characters like Margaret who reported referred to Indians as “little brown people” and the Queen Mum who drunkenly said to Sir Roy Strong, “beware of the blackamoors” as Lizzie was on an African tour don’t do much for me when they are constantly being racist against my peoples. I’m good on that.

For me, there was nothing wonderful about them.

It’s always interesting how one’s perspective changes everything about a singular incident or a person.

    • Madelaine says:

🤔😂🤣. Don’t you understand it’s a process. Call it waity maturity.

    • Becks1 says:

Kate and I are the same age, and if someone said that I was “maturing rapidly” I would assume that it was time to break down and get botox. Like who refers to an almost 40 year old woman that way? (note the “almost” part we are not there yet lol.)

I did refer to myself as a 37 year old the other day and my husband was like…uh…Becks…you’re 39. whoops.

      • Emily says:

LOL. I’d think it’s a dig at my looks too.

The whole story is a passive aggressive nod to how low the bar is if a nearly 40 year old woman with ten years of experience in her “job” is praised for not behaving like Regina George at a funeral of all places.

      • Emm says:

Right! I’m the same age as well and also have a son the same age as George and this is something that would make more sense being written about him, not his almost 40 year old mother. Good grief. Do people actually believe this stuff, I always chuckle when I read this stuff because it’s just so pathetic. Are they still going to be saying she’s “really coming into her own” when she’s 75?

      • nutella toast says:

@Becks1 You’re my fave commenter by far and I lie up one year so when I get to that age, it’s not so intimidating. But yeah, I giggled at a nearly-40 year old finally being “mature”.

      • Becks1 says:

        @nutella aw thanks.

I admit that I do refer to myself as “almost 40” for the most part to soften the blow (I’m not really worried about turning 40 in itself, I don’t really have a problem with growing older, except that sometimes……lol.) But the thing was that I really genuinely forgot I was 39. I said something about “me and other 37 year olds” and my husband just laughed in my face.

      • notasugarhere says:

Becks1, we should all get a grace year for 2020, so call yourself 38.

    • Cessily says:

If the Royals all live to be close to a century in age that is approx 22 years above average so maybe 40 is the new 25 in Royal years? Idk🤷‍♀️
she seems to get a pass on a lot of things.

      • Isabella says:

The royal longevity will not work for Kate, as she will not be queen for 20-30 years, barring a disaster that kills Charles. The rush to crown her consort ahead of Camilla is disgusting, especially during a funeral. Also, all she had to do was dress nicely and say little. Which is now normal people act at funerals.

    • Noodle says:

Do we need a moon party? A prom? A Quincenera? How can we move her emotional state from spoiled teenager taking pictures for her slam book to a real life human who contributes meaningfully to life!!??

    • My3cents says:

I wish she would mature in dog years.

    • lucy2 says:

It is a super weird way to continuously talk about her. She’s almost 40, has 3 kids, has been married a decade…why on earth would her comforting her father in law at his father’s funeral be some big deal and signal that she’s “ready to be queen” and “rapidly maturing”? That’s just something normal humans do.

      • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

The British tabs& press are really sycophantic with the Hyena & PWT of late; it’s pretty nauseating.

      • ShazBot says:

right?! she did literally nothing except act like a normal adult? greet family cordially, dress appropriately, not act out…these are things we are praising her for? please.

    • AnnaKist says:

Ugh. This is all, part of the British media continuing to big her up, prove yet again how worthy she is to be where she is, and to counter any possible arguments that Meghan did not make her wittle eyes cwy. She’s almost 40, but it needs to be announced to the world that she is “maturing rapidly”? Talk about PR propaganda. I actually want to throw up.

    • Iriser says:

Seriously! Are they hobbits? We know Frodo and his ilk don’t come of age until they’re 33, so I guess the royals have decided they live in the Shire and can still be “maturing” at 40 years old. [Insert eye roll].

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

LOL. You know what this reminds me of? The constant tabloid stories of how Jennifer Anniston wants to start a family. Just wash, rinse, repeat.

    • And, my God, it was a funeral not a Ph.D. Award ceremony! Unbelievable embiggening going on here and all on the back of a funeral! New Headline: Kate Finally Comes of Age at a 1 Hour Funeral. …..Man, that’s some training!

  2. samipup says:

    Oh for gawd’s sake. Barf.

    • Bellaluna McKenzie says:

      Right?

Seriously, someone wake me from the sugary coma all there article dropped me in.

      I can’t.

  3. Dulcinea says:

    It’s embarrassing!! Girl staaaaahp

    • Giddy says:

What? She had a brand new black coat dress with buttons and a bow, borrowed jewels to wear and posed hard for hours. What more do people want? Did they want her to show true sadness or demonstrate an emotional maturity deeper than her image in a mirror? Don’t be silly! What were we talking about? I forget, but she looked pretty and Rose wasn’t invited, so it was a good day!

    • Liz version 700 says:

Yes! My Lord….Kate it is so embarrassing! It took me years to come of age (in my teens and 20’s) how long was this damn funeral?!?

  4. Sofia says:

She’s 39 and has been married for 10 years. How in the ever loving f*** is she still maturing rapidly in the role? And yes I caught that last line, perhaps intentional shade on Dampier’s part.

    • Becks1 says:

That was definite shade. “okay, you’ve had your decade to play at being royal, now Philip is gone and Harry is gone, now you need to work.”

      • BothSidesNow says:

Yes, but we all know that Keen Doucheness does not like to work and she avoids it like Baldimort avoids her!! It’s about time she mature! A woman pushing 40 has had plenty of time to mature, but she is will do what she wants when she wants to, so I don’t see her picking up the slack anytime soon.

      • Mac says:

I don’t get why she doesn’t just focus on the bread and butter work. Put on a new dress and cut a ribbon, unveil a plaque, open a school, etc. It takes very little prep or effort and can probably be done in less than an hour.

      • Becks1 says:

@Mac I know, I don’t get it either. The only thing I can think of is that you have to actually show up to those events, and do them in greater quantities, and she doesnt want to do that? She would prefer to hide behind something like “early years” where she can get a lot of mileage out of something that she’s probably not really involved with?

      • Sofia says:

Because the long term projects get the most publicity and you can explain low numbers by saying you were doing behind the scenes work for said project.

    • Coco says:

I feel like “maturing rapidly” isn’t even something normal to say about a human. Sure, “tadpoles mature rapidly into frogs” or “the purebred puppy matured rapidly into a champion show dog.” Only lecherous creeps would say a teenager is “maturing rapidly.”

    • Keroppi says:

At her age “maturing rapidly” is hardly a compliment. It is when your 12, though.

  5. sandy says:

lolz this is so embarrassing. also – it makes her sound … 80? not 40.

  6. Seraphina says:

She came of age and matured at a funeral? Because her dress was the right color, the length didn’t show her thighs and butt, she wore expensive jewelry and a much needed mask????? THIS is coming of age/maturing?

    • Red Snapper says:

Lone Ranger Funeral Truther here to remind you someone (probably Will) said something so loud and shocking that other family members turned around to look, and made Kate cry sacred white Duchess tears. At a funeral.

      • Zebz says:

I agree with you. I think will attacked Kate in front of everyone and Harry diffused the situation somehow. That’s why Harry and William ended up walking together and Kate fell back and there is a cut in the video. If Harry had said something nasty to her it would be all over the press. They are really making it look like Harry was Williams handler.

      • Betsy says:

I couldn’t find the footage! Which thread was it on?

      • Jaded says:

He definitely barked at her and Harry probably told him to STFU ‘sotto voce’. His behaviour towards her at the funeral was, as per usual, cold and inconsiderate. Those two are on the outs for sure and, for the most part, living separately.

      • Digital Unicorn says:

Ooh missed that one – explains a lot. He’s been like that to her in public many times over the past few years – she embarrasses him and he is unable to hide his disdain for her. But she stays and puts up with it. If he’s still trimming rose bushes its only a matter of time before he decides he’s done with her and her family – it explains the desperate Middleton PR around Kate. They know its only a matter of time before he blows the marriage up.

      • Lizzie says:

Thank you Lone Ranger Funeral Truther. I have gone back to the videos and I think you have nailed it.

      • Becks1 says:

I still don’t think that’s what happened but I love that you are so committed to it lol (and I’m so committed to it not happening.) It will be 2 years from now and we’ll still be talking about it haha.

      • DMG says:

        Where is this video?

      • Commonwealthy says:

I admire your dedication to this, Red Snapper

    • BayTampaBay says:

@Seraphina – You have my vote for “Comment of The Week”!

      • Jais says:

@betsy- try looking at CB’s Sunday post about the funeral. Not sure if that’s the one you mean but believe there was a vid on that post.

      • Betsy says:

@Jais – thanks, it was on Sunday’s post (I didn’t look far enough back).

I watched it but didn’t see it? Oh well.

      • Bettyrose says:

@betsy I just watched that vid in slowmo and still don’t see it. But Kate’s in a mask so you can’t see her facial expression. IDK.

      • Seraphina says:

@TBT, I have grown tired and become irked with how the press takes everything Kate does and try to spin it into something so large and profound. No wonder she has never held a real job. If this is what they consider praise worthy she would never survive in the real world.

    • Eating Popcorn says:

      Please link!

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

Eating Popcorn, I just looked for it, and guess what? It seems that they’ve cut that part out of the video. I looked at several sources, too. Maybe someone else can find it. They end it where the three of them are walking together and then cut further along showing other family members. Something was definitely said, because Kant quickly slowed down and Sophie was there. All of that is gone–this makes me believe that it was Wont who said something to her. If it had been Harry, it would have been headlines everywhere. I saw it with my own eyes once upon a time. Don’t know what happened to it.

      • Becks1 says:

I just rewatched it, and the version I saw is the same version I’ve seen all along.

Royals exit church. Kate waits for Harry.

They walk up the hill. Beatrice and then Eugenie both turn back to say something to a staffer/guard standing in a door way. This is clear bc they are some distance away from each other so don’t turn back at the same time, but turn back at roughly the same point in the walk (so B turns back, says something, Keeps walking, Eugenie 30 seconds later says something at the same place). Or maybe Eugenie was first, please don’t make me watch it again lol.

Then we cut to the royals entering the courtyard/.open space and that’s when Kate is walking with Sophie (this makes sense bc Kate Harry and Will started out behind the Wessexes and were walking faster). From behind we see Sophie gesture to Kate to take her mask off. Then we have the view from the side/above and that’s when we see Kate dab her face and Sophie touch her shoulder.

Now MAYBE that’s because william snapped at her at some point, but his snapping wasn’t what caused each York sister to turn back bc they didn’t turn back at the same time.

Of course it’s possible William was an ass to Kate, he probably is on a regular basis, I just don’t think we can tell that from the video.

I’m not watching it again though, I refuse lol

    • Agreatreckoning says:

LOL. That just shows how incredibly amazing and perfect and doesn’t put a foot wrong and blah blah blah blah she is..she matured in 1 day as she’s nearing 40.

I just can’t see how it’s a compliment and kind of love that.

  7. L84Tea says:

Make it stop. How does one ‘come of age’ at a funeral? Because she wore a black dress and pearl choker? Because she sat in a pew? Because she walked a few feet to a car? Seriously, they need to quit it with these ridiculous stories.

    • Dee says:

But she got the perfect ‘shopped photo with the perfect angle (wonky eyebrow is on the other side) and that just shows how queeny keeny she is. (meh)

  8. Kalana says:

So was Philip’s funeral about Philip at all? Does Kate have any fond memories? Is there any warmth there at all?

These people make my skin crawl.

    • Ginger says:

It wasn’t at all. It was just PR for Kate because she was outed as a nasty mean girl. She really was doing the most at this funeral. She made Phillips death all about her. It’s sick. Who gets this much praise for attending a funeral?

    • lucy2 says:

Right? It’s super weird and gross to use someone else’s funeral as a PR campaign. William’s public statement was very self serving too.
I never cared much about the BRF, but these two and their relentless pettiness and selfishness have really been too much.

  9. Lauren says:

They make her seem like a teen girl going into her 20’s. Not a whole ass woman, who has a college degree, has been married for 10 years, and has 3 kids. What next? They are going to announce that she is potty trained?

    • Angelica Schuyler says:

OMG, I just spat my coffee everywhere! I was thinking exactly what you wrote, then you killed me with the potty training!

    • lanne says:

Spat my water at that one too! I’ll bet that when she turns 40, they’ll announce she has learned to read and then, wow, she can dress herself! Such a big girl she is.

What.a.joke. I would be EMBARRASSED if someone wrote that about me as a grown ass woman. Has the Duchess no shame at all?

UK, is this what Ideal Womanhood looks like? Or did the UK turn into Saudi Arabia when I wasn’t looking?

  10. WithTheAmerican says:

I’m not a fan of how that world treats women but in that world, coming of age is not a good thing. Cathy isn’t photographing well anymore, her face is starting to fall. In Hollywood they get mid face lifts in mid 30s to avoid the tired angry sad look that comes without good lighting. Public events that Bill and Cathy should be doing don’t always come with good lighting.

They will find that this effort to launch her has past its prime. She’s no longer the pretty down to earth girl she passed for in her 20s or the new mom of her early 30s.

    • AnneSurely says:

She’s definitely aging into the face she deserves, as my grandmother always said. She might as well give up the wholesome girl from the home counties image and just own her mean girl shtick.

This is just more fanfiction. These gossip columnists somehow make an entire three act play out of a 100 yard walk every time. The royals have been politically irrelevant for a long time.

      • WithTheAmerican says:

Your grandmother was right! She’s got an angry jealous small minded face now.

  11. greenmonster says:

Coming of age and maturing rapidly at 39. What a role model. What an example. What a woman! At 42 I can never live up to her stellar excistence.

The DM writer better had a good chuckle writing this. Anything else would be deeply embarrasing.

  12. lunchcoma says:

She’s almost 40 and the mother of 3 children. It’s a little damning that we’re having to talk about her maturing at this point.

  13. heygingersnaps says:

One should hope so, she’s a fully grown adult for goodness sake!

  14. MsIam says:

Didn’t this same paper imply that the “peacemaker” story is a lie and that Harry flew home without talking to William and nothing is resolved? I’m confused. Anyway as usual the Kate Show, starring Kate, rolls on.

  15. Merricat says:

This is humiliating, don’t they realize? A 40 year old woman “coming of age” at a funeral is maybe the tackiest concept I have ever seen. Ugh, no. Imagine anyone saying that you are “maturing rapidly.” Lord, that is not a compliment.

  16. IRMAVEP says:

Am I the only one who think Kate looks like an upmarket dominatrix from a 1950s French film in that black mask and veil and the severe, sharply tailored coat? Jf so, the film title would be something like ‘The Kiss of the Spider Woman.’

    • LightPurple says:

You are not alone. I pointed that out the other day; that she looks like a villainess in a film from the 1930s. She just got done poisoning someone and is waiting for the detective to light her cigarette.

    • Andrew’s Nemesis says:

More the Embrace of the Black Widow (Spider) …
Honestly, this is sickening. She turns up, manages not to show her arse, and does the bare minimum in giving her condolences to her father in law. Well done, Wiglet. Two enthusiastic thumbs up. I mean, you really saved the monarchy with this one. And blah Meghan blah something blah normal blah.
I find the whole revenge narrative absolutely skin-crawling as well – it’s as if others should be punished for revealing what she is. As I mentioned the other day, true abuser behaviour.
How much more gaslighting can we expect?

    • Babz says:

There is something about that full-face photo in the car that gives me the chills. I know she was going for somber, sad, and mournful, but there is nothing but frost in that pose. And she’s looking slightly menacing and challenging at the same time. It’s a beautiful picture, I will admit. But there’s no humanity or warmth on the other side of those green eyes. If that’s what they want to project, she nailed it.

      • Feeshalori says:

I think because we don’t see her crazy grimacing mouth as a distraction, the focus is all on her heavily made up eyes which really gives off a menacing vibe.

      • Anne K says:

I agree, Babz. The photo gives me the creeps. I think knowing she kept silent and used her media friends to push a racist lie while Meghan nearly took her own life, i can’t get past it. It’s realizing the kind of person who would do that and on top of that use not one but two people’s deaths to embiggen herself, she is really not a good person. This picture shows her coldblooded nature.

      • windyriver says:

It’s a picture of who she really is.

Cold, calculating, self-absorbed. I’m sure it’s totally inadvertent that it comes across that way, she most likely thinks she looks lovely, the epitome of class, appropriately respectful for the occasion.

But as @Feeshalori notes, without the distraction of a smile or whatever pasted on her mouth, we can really see what’s always there, behind her eyes.

      • Robin says:

The difficulty with that photo is that it was staged, lit and shopped to hell and back. Kate must be praying zoom meetings go on for months, because when she resurfaces, she will look like she always has and then some. She simply doesn’t look like that. There is a picture of her inside the church and it looks much more like her skin etc. Meghan is in reality like her photos, probably because her appearance mirrors her inner character as well as her better skin condition. I always remember an old chap who’d been waiting in the crowds to see Kate years ago. He said she looked nothing like he had been led to believe from the papers. He was quite put out, as if he’d wasted his time!

I’m also seeing, “You better be getting this shot right. This is my once chance.”

      • Chrissy says:

Cruella DeVille comes to mind! Cannot looks kind of evil and scheming because she is.

    • lanne says:

To me, she looked kind of like she was attending the funeral of her seventh husband.

      • Who ARE these people? says:

        Chuckle! That captures it.

      • Doulton says:

Yes! Somebody here said that she looked like Joan Collins appearing as Alexis Carrington on “Dynasty.” I thought it was a perfect comparison.
I also wonder if the RF is more like “reality tv” then “soap opera”. In this case, “Survivor”.

      • Olenna says:

Something about her has always reminded me of Theresa Russell in the Black Widow movie. Part of it is the shape of her face and set of her jaw, but mostly it’s the look of shrewdness or cunning, and it’s particularly noticeable here with this deliberate pose.

Oleanna, I’ve always enjoyed that one. Russell and Winger were both really good in it.

    • Dee says:

She looks like the vengeful ex who pulls up in a limosine for the funeral in a Carrie Underwood music video.

  17. Beach Dreams says:

Yikes. I doubt her ongoing efforts to make herself the star of Philip’s funeral are going to be welcomed by the RF. She and Carole are doing the opposite of treading carefully and I feel that this latest PR blitz is going to eventually burn them.

    • Andrew’s Nemesis says:

@Beach Dreams We live in hope. I can’t wait for the day that Mrs Bennett and Wisteria Sister No.1 are brought DOWN.

    • Becks1 says:

It’s going to backfire on them I think – there’s only so much sugary sweetness and stories about how Kate can save the world that people, even stans, can handle.

I used to be a big Kate fan as i’ve said on here and that over the top praise turned me away from her…maybe 5 years ago? I just couldn’t believe that one woman could be so perfect and never do anything wrong. (see the comments on What Kate Wore, ha.) And I don’t think I’m the only one.

      • Xara says:

A few years back I was also a Kate fan. Used to read WKW religiously. And then it just got to be so….boring. Meghan was a breath of fresh air, and I haven’t looked back.

      • TigerMcQueen says:

I don’t know if I was a Kate ‘fan’ but…I didn’t have a negative opinion of her. I thought she allowed her future husband to walk all over her during their 10 year ‘courtship’ but otherwise, she seemed fine. And it was fun to watch Diana’s son and wife have kids of their own.

But somewhere along the line, there were one too many stories about how she was about to ‘come in to her own’. And I realized for years, she hadn’t done much more than wear nice clothes and have kids. There wasn’t much there, there. There’s be something like the first years mentioned, and then…nothing concrete. She’d never developed any substance beyond fashion plate/mommy, but the ‘coming into her own’ stories kept on a comin’. The obvious propping up was off putting, especially alongside Will, who has done nothing, and compared to Harry, who was actually maturing into a thoughtful man actively trying to use his role to do good. And that was well before he met and married Meghan.

And this story, about how she’s finally coming into her own and maturing into her role after a decade of marriage and when she’s nearly 40 is embarrassing.

      • ShazBot says:

@TigerMcQueen that’s how I felt too. I used to like her and follow her events, but eventually it was like okay, enough already – do something. I’m about the same age as her and my kids are the same age as hers, and guess what? I have a job and volunteer and manage a household, and I’m pretty sure my kids are just fine, thanks – so what is she even doing? Why haven’t they come up with anything of substance in 10 years? It felt like they keep trying to trump up this woman and justify why she’s “better” than me, when all I see is mediocrity and squandered opportunity in nice clothes (that frankly, she doesn’t tailor or style well).

      • notasugarhere says:

Many fans left or turned after the first couple years after the wedding. She wasn’t doing anything, she wasn’t improving. All she was doing was prancing around, flipping her weave, and going on holiday. People left royal watching or moved on to interesting royals.

      • Larry says:

@Tiger McQueen terrible fashion plate – like a 70s cheese hedgehog

    • Harper says:

I think Camilla is the one who is going to be whispering into Charles’ ear that Kate needs to be put in her place. I know that Camilla has a great reputation for just doing her job and getting on with it (like Philip did) but she also doesn’t suffer fools (like Philip didn’t). Charles may be walking in the fields communing with spirits in Wales at the moment, but when he gets back, Camilla might have a few words with him about Kate.

      • Tessa says:

Though she and Kate were not polite at Harry and Meghan’s wedding, smirking at the sermon. Charles needs to rein in William first thing.

  18. Sue says:

Still haven’t finished my coffee…catch me up, here. Has Kate finally found her voice again? I think she should really get that checked out. Chronic laryngitis doesn’t sound good.

    • Becks1 says:

      Hahaha!

    • Babz says:

She loses that thing more often than most people lose their keys. Find it, and remember where you put it next time so we aren’t subjected to this drivel on a regular basis. 🙄

  19. ThatgirlThere says:

This 40 year old woman of 3 is just now maturing. Please. She and her wiglets need to get out of the way.

The way they infantize this woman and her husband is both sad and hilarious.

  20. Harper says:

Revenge at a Funeral sounds like one of those movies in the Netflix queue that you somehow missed when it came out. Of course, Kate is maturing rapidly; she is perpetually stuck at twenty years old–the age at which she became William’s plaything–so at this point she is probably the emotional equivalent of the ripe old age of 21. Having to come up with an outfit for a funeral and pose for pictures during the ceremony ages the best of us.

  21. Frida_K says:

Every time I see that picture of her with her pearls and eyeliner, head tilted like Vivien Leigh in her role as Scarlett O’Hara, I am struck anew by how inappropriate and obnoxious her outfit and preening were. She really was determined to grab the spotlight at that funeral, wasn’t she?

And this relentless drivel of bilge and saccharine is making me actively dislike her. I didn’t much care one way or the other initially, I started to feel a sense of mild hostility that grew and grew as her heinous before to Meghan and Harry came out in the wash, and now, at this point? I really dislike her. What a nasty piece of work she is, and her horrid husband, too. Both of them.

Do they pay people to write this tripe about her? If so, they should save their money. It’s vomitous. And she is wretched.

So glad that Harry, Meghan, Archie, and Baby Montecito are not in England and won’t have to actively engage with her and the rest of that toxic family!

    • LightPurple says:

Also obvious that nothing was going to cause her to shed a tear during the service, You don’t wear heavy eye makeup to a funeral unless you intend to have black goop all over your cheeks halfway through OR you didn’t know the person at all and know you won’t experience any emotions.

    • Nyro says:

You can tell that she and her team did the absolute most to get that basic shot, including coordinating with photographers. It’s hilarious because that picture hasn’t made waves outside of the hardcore royalist fandom. They were desperate for a “Meghan and Harry under an umbrella in a shower of diamonds” shot and instead it flopped. LOL

    • Myra says:

It’s a good thing she isn’t black, otherwise she would have been called attention-seeking and narcissistic.

    • RobinKeefe says:

@Frida_K: Great phrase…Perhaps “Bilge and Saccharine” are the Cambridge’s’ new lawyers.

  22. Merricat says:

It sounds like Kate lost her virginity behind the pews during the service.

  23. Nic919 says:

We all saw her pettiness at the commonwealth service so nice try pretending that she doesn’t go for revenge.

Also since when is posing for photos at a funeral calling coming of age? She was the most classless of the entire bunch because while the rest were actually mourning, she was standing next to blank walls and giving cruella vibes while looking at the photographers.

  24. Chaine says:

If Charles lives as long as his father and mother, Kate will be sixty at best when she finally becomes queen. I wonder if we will continue to see “coming of age stories” for all of those years.

  25. Abby says:

Barf. I can’t even read any of this royal reporter mess any more. So over the top!

  26. Eleonor says:

She has been coming of age for the last 10 years (and I am being nice) this narrative is nonsense!

  27. Woke says:

I doubt any of them ever stepped foot in Frogmore cottage. I can’t wait the day the tide start turning on this one, it’s going to be funny. Any PR based on an immaculate image almost perfection never last long.

    • equality says:

Really. That struck me as odd also. They were supposedly all outside because of Covid. Why would they invade what is, for the moment, Jack and Eugenie’s home?

  28. Topaz says:

So I wanted to look up the definition of mature in the oxford dictionary to understand the british version but google gave me this little gem:
complete in natural growth or development, as plant and animal forms: a mature rose bush.

    • Andrew’s Nemesis says:

      @Topaz Ha!
Wonder if PWT has used the lifting of lockdown restrictions to tend to Tuber Rose, his favourite fragrant garden of loveliness, and this is why we’re getting all this Meddleton PR drivel?

      • Kiera says:

@Andrew’s Nemesis 1. Love the name!! 2. Yes! I really think there’s some shade/hint in the line about them having to not spend as much time in Norfolk. I’m wondering if this is a bit of a warning shot to Will, keep the bushes in line or I start showing you the plot for season 10 of The Crown.

      • swirlmamad says:

        Meddleton. Brilliant.

  29. DS9 says:

I would be so offended if at the big age of 39 that the most glowing thing you could say about me is behaved and looked pretty at an old as dust in law’s funeral.

    • sunny says:

Yup. It is wild to see this narrative. She is a grown married mother by this age she should be seen as an adult. It is wild to see how the media infantilizes her.

  30. Coco says:

Came of age? I didn’t know a funeral could double as a bat mitzvah.

    • Andrew’s Nemesis says:

Come on, Kate wouldn’t get as far as the first Adonai before finding an urgent need to shop.

      • Babz says:

And that’s if she hadn’t dropped her ubiquitous note cards first, or lost her place! Forget reading from the Torah!

      • Andrew’s Nemesis says:

@Babz She’d probably think that the Torah yad was an eyeliner, and step aside to freshen up her makeup a bit.

      • Babz says:

        Wouldn’t surprise me a bit! 😂

  31. Digital Unicorn says:

Yeah we noticed with all the botox she gets done.

  32. Nyro says:

I need Charles to defend himself and Camilla and shut down this ridiculous Middleton embiggening campaign. They talk about Meghan disrespecting the royal family and its traditions and norms?! Please. The shady middle class Middletons are running roughshod all over the monarchy, even using the death of their patriarch to elevate their do-nothing daughter over Camilla, an actual aristo and next queen consort. Kate and her family even low-key dissed the queen the other day! They’re so blinded by their hatred of Meghan they can’t spot the usurper who’s right in front of their faces.

    • Cecilia says:

Its tacky and just weird. I honestly can’t figure out if these stories are from camp william who are mocking kate or if this is middleton pr genuinely trying to embiggen kate. Its if the latter i think ma middleton might be worried about her daughter’s marriage and is trying to make her into the nations sweetheart like diana.

      • Angelica Schuyler says:

@Cecilia, I think you are onto something here. This makes total sense. Kate is trying waaaaaay too hard with this campaign. She must be very insecure about the strength of her marriage. She needs another 20 years to try to build up the popularity base that Diana had. After all, Charles did divorce Diana in spite of how beloved she was by the people. Diana knew she would not become Queen. This must be one of Kate’s biggest fears…putting up with Baldimort’s nonsense for all these years only to be replaced in the end before he ascends to the throne…..Her total investment would be down the drain….

    • Tessa says:

Camilla is of the gentry and upper middle class but not an aristo. Kate is a commoner from an ambitious family. Charles has to stop wimping out and put an end to this. Camilla was in Charles circle but Kate and her mother planned to get her in proximity of William at University.

      • FicklePickle says:

I think Camilla counts as arisocrat on the grounds that she’s the granddaughter of a hereditary peer, Roland Cubitt, 3rd Baron Ashcombe. Also his wife and Camilla’s grandmother, Sonia Keppel, was the daughter of the infamous Alice Keppel, but also daughter of George Keppel, third son of the 7th Earl of Albemarle (in and of itself a family of ancient and entitled lineage in Germany) and great-great-great-great-great-grandchild of King Charles II through his illegitimate son, the 1st Duke Richmond.

      • notasugarhere says:

Kate and Carole schemed from Marlborough/Downe days. Kate only ‘befriended’ girls who were in William’s circle, as a way to get in. She was at multiple parties at Club H, which is how she found out William was going to St Andrews not Edinburgh as originally leaked. That’s why she first applied to Edinburgh, then switched to St Andrews. Plus the Raleigh International Chile thing that William was supposed to do, and the semester in Florence booked before she found out William had backed out of it.

  33. anotherlily says:

‘Maturing rapidly’ and ‘coming of age’ are more applicable to 17 year old Lady Louise than to a 39 year old mother of three.

    • Shawna says:

Lady Louise did make a star turn (that is, if we are supposed to regard the funeral as a stage).

  34. Jay says:

Uh, so now we are supposed to swallow that there was a mini summit “at Frogmore Cottage, along with Charles and William, to heal the wounds with Harry”??? That seems pretty unlikely, especially since Charles jetted out to Wales PDQ.

And as always, I’m uncomfortable with the narrative that this nearly 40 year old mother of three is “just coming into her own” and starting to get the hang of her job after more than a decade. It’s not flattering!

    • Babz says:

That news about the “summit” brings to mind Harry at the Sandringham Summit, alone, facing down a roomful of courtiers, fighting for his family’s lives. Not that he couldn’t handle it, but what is it about these people that they seem to travel in packs instead of simply having a conversation?

    • Amy Bee says:

Charles went to Wales on Sunday so when exactly did this “Summit” at Frogmore take place. It never happened.

  35. molly says:

Camilla must be the most chill, secure woman in the history of they royal family. Alllllll these Kate stories about “future queen” this and “qualities of the queen” that, and she never says a word. (That doesn’t bode well for Charles’s ability to stand up to William.) There’s a whole other woman between you and the crown, and it’ll likely be decades before you get there!

I’m neither here nor there on Camilla, but I really hope Charles insists on her being called Queen Consort. Maybe she doesn’t care about the names and titles, but I don’t want to give Will and Kate the satisfaction of only Kate being the “future queen” and erasing Camilla.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Apparently she doesn’t care but Chuck is set on her being QC – which is why he was so invested in her image rehab.

      • molly says:

Camilla’s image isn’t their biggest problem anymore. Charles may not even have a reign at this point, if he can’t get a handle on the drama.

    • Nic919 says:

There is no reason not to call Camilla Queen consort. She is the spouse of the monarch and at all other times the female spouse of the monarch was called Queen consort. If they do keep it to Princess then that should be the title moving forward. It would make more sense as it would match the fact that the male spouse of the monarch is called prince.

    • Tessa says:

The advantage of naming Camilla Princess Consort is that Kate won’t be Queen Consort.

      • notasugarhere says:

I prefer Princess Consort as a precedent, because it takes a speck of the sexism out of the monarchy.

    • Tessa says:

Camilla has been known to get “threats” out of the way for years. For instance, she was said to be instrumental in getting the courtier Elizabeth Buchanan fired–she found out Elizabeth was getting too close to Charles. If only Charles could stop being a wimp and put an end to the Kate and William heavy handed promotion.

    • FicklePickle says:

I mean, members of the public aren’t throwing bread rolls at her any more, soooo.

      It’s all relative.

  36. carryrose says:

Omg my ears !!! my ears !!! Make it stop. Lord I cant with this much sugar. Reader will get diabetes reading this.

These constant pr which makes me wonder the team Kate is so worried abt her position. I mean why ?? What’s going on behind the scenes?? William or doesnt even mention her. But kate pr is like constant Kate is rock, the future and only one who has munchery on her shoulders etc.

Lol there are many rumors in Twitter going on abt this. The reasonable one is William is trying the ways to get rid of cathy . And planning that whoever his future wife will be excepted to see less in public so they can control the narratives . Maybe that’s why his team is adjusting that bill should focus on less enagement??

Something is going on that makes team cathy and carole jenner worried .

    • BayTampaBay says:

Unless Cathy is caught on a cell phone camera having an affair with a footballer or Hugh Grant, I cannot see anyway that Baldy can get rid of Wiglet.

The SHAMs (major Cathy stans) of all socioeconomic groups in the UK do not like men who think they can easily dispose of their old dishwasher and simply trade-up to a new one. Also, who would want to be Baldy’s new household appliance?

      • carryrose says:

Lol if William wants firm will make sure to get rid of kate. There are lot of sketelon cathy and her shady family has and bill knows it. When they want to get rid of her they will leave . Remember when chuck actively make diana crazy and to this day everyone believed diana was crazy. Lol the firm even go after autumn during her divorce. The firm only leave married in men’s. In O interview Sussex left many details unnamed and bill will twist his knife and blame Kate. The team cathy is so worried that’s why we are getting so many sugary articles. Why camilla who is future queen doesnt have article like this. Camilla is set for life and she is secured in her position. Cathy on the other hand is on shaky ground.

Remember pre Meghan period not even single staff or courtiers like Kate or her family. The courtier constant leak to press how lazy and stupid she is. It’s only stop after Meghan. Now meghan left it will come back to her.

The courtiers are playing the same book with queen vs margret, diana vs fergie, queen mother vs Wallis. The thing with diana vs fergie after the divorce fergie was left alone and the press quickly turned on diana . Now Sussex left it’s only matter of time press will turn on cathy and her family.

      • Tessa says:

carryrose, no not “everyone” thought Diana was crazy. Plenty of people believed her. Diana was gaslighted by Charles friends including Nicholas Soames who slammed Diana and his pal Penny Junor bashed Diana. Charles spin did not work with all. Much of it was obvious. As for Fergie she could not catch a break. She had to wave at the Queen at a race track with her daughters by her side==the was frozen out. She was ousted. She got assisted by Oprah who interviewed her and even gave her a reality show.

    • Nyro says:

They’re going nuts, aren’t they? They’re scrambling. Even their main mouthpiece, Camilla Tominey has laughed at tweets mocking Carole Jenner working overtime to embiggen her first born. Something is definitely going on. When you’ve got to spin a funeral outfit and a walk up a hill into some kind of life changing and iconic moment for her and as the very reason the monarchy will survive, something is wrong. I mean, they’re spinning harder than they did during the Five Big Questions campaign and at least that was some sort of project. It’s clear that the Middletons are worried about Kate’s position. Those three kids solidify nothing. Diana had the future kings’ kids too yet the divorce still happened. Idk if Rose and PWT are still a thing but I’m certain he’s with someone and it’s likely serious. I bet that’s who he was with when he got covid and kept it a secret.

      • Robin says:

Goodness that’s a theory I find interesting. I keep thinking they are riding high on some kind of mass appeal to the racist English rose brigade, but it sounds like it could actually be fear of losing position. I have wondered whether an affair is resurfacing but still convince myself she’ll never budge.

      • BayTampaBay says:

@Robin – I always thought Baldy would be the true loser in a divorce. Thinking about it from the POV you presented, Kate has much more to lose if it really comes out that Baldy IS having a lengthy affair; not a fling or booty call but an affair. If it comes out that Baldy is having an affair then Wiglet’s presence and existence is no longer needed let alone necessary.

Thinking about William, Kate and the aristocracy and adjacent Toffs, maybe Rose wanted Kate 100% gone from the Norfolk Turnip Toff set. Maybe this is reason Rose leaked the affair story, if she was the leak, to Dan Wootton. Could the true Aristos, very-very wealth Toffs and garden variety landed horse-living gentry want Kate exiled to Middleton Manor in Bucklebury permanently.

      • L84Tea says:

I think I need to make some popcorn, BTB. These are some theories I would love to see CB’s sink our teeth into more.

    • notasugarhere says:

That might be part of the ‘future of the monarchy’ discussions, especially if W&K are living separate lives. Charles and William would work together to delay Wm being named Prince of Wales until after a divorce. That way Kate is left with a title no one else uses, while William, new wife, and kids would switch to ‘Wales’.

  37. LaraW” says:

Revenge on Harry for being a race traitor and supporting Meghan when she exposed Kate’s years of lying about the crying story.

Or the rota projecting. Revenge on Harry for exposing the Invisible Contract.

  38. Emily says:

This is so so unbelievably embarrassing for her. These articles are like subtle insults.

  39. TheOriginalMia says:

She’s almost 40. 40! Good Lord. How is she not embarrassed by these stories?

  40. Haylie says:

Well, I’ve been saying she was maturing rapidly in the face like a banana for years now.

  41. RedWeatherTiger says:

They’re saying she looks old, and I’m here for it.

The other takeaway is that Kate managed to appear fully dressed and attend a gathering where her only jobs were to ride, sit, and walk, and her ability to do that without shi++ing herself makes her ripe for her queenly duties. Sounds like an insult to Her Maj, to be honest.

  42. RUXANDRA CHOW says:

    Vomit.

  43. Jaded says:

Sung to the tune of the Toys r Us song:

    I don’t wanna grow up, I’m a Royals R Us kid
They got a million castles at Royals R us that I can live in
    I don’t wanna grow up, I’m a Royals R Us kid
They got the best for so much more, it’ll really flip your lid
From gowns to jewels to servants galore
It’s the biggest playground there is (gee whiz!)
I don’t wanna grow up, cause maybe if I did
    I couldn’t be a Royals R Us kid anymore

  44. Who ARE these people? says:

Was she fully vaxxed before she hugged and kissed Charles?

  45. Over it says:

I will just rinse and repeat my words from yesterday, Kate is a monumental lazy B. Oh I also would add that she is as mulipative and deceitful as they come

  46. Lizzie says:

On Friday she was an immature, lazy entitled dud but after the funeral on Saturday she had matured and possessed all the qualities of a queen, although she will only be queen consort. Yes, I buy that.

  47. My3cents says:

Personality wise this girl is maturing like Benjamin Button(s).

  48. Elizabeth K. Mahon says:

I’m a little tired of these stories of “Poor Kate,” and how Harry & Meghan threw her under the bus etc. Meghan was quite gracious frankly when she corrected the tabloid story, she even gave Kate the benefit of the doubt, and said that she was a good person. So how exactly did Meghan & Harry do her wrong in the interview?

    • MsIam says:

Meghan showed that Kate can put a foot wrong. Supposedly she NEVER does that, her wise Uncle Gary told us so. But never fear, Kate is still the lynchpin of the monarchy, the rock they can all depend on, her husband’s backbone and guiding hand. All this while still finding her voice and coming into maturity. Remarkable!

  49. Lyra says:

Now I’m pretty sure that those articles are low key mocking her. They are giving shady compliments to Kate because they know that she is useless.

    • BayTampaBay says:

“I’m a little tired of these stories of “Poor Kate,” and how Harry & Meghan threw her under the bus etc.”

@Lyra & @Elizabeth K. Mahon – The Tatler article was mocking Kate to her face not knocking the Sussexes from my POV.

      • Lyra says:

Yes. I think those articles of “poor Kate” are done because journalists are paid to write about Karen Middleton in a good light, but they don’t have anything positive to say. They can’t slander her because she is too frail and they now have a common enemy “Meghan”, but they write condescending pieces that make her look dumb and useless. I don’t think the journalists like Karen Middleton, because she brings no story and is not interesting at all. But they still want the monarchy to keep going.

I’m pretty sure that the press want a divorce to happen, so they will have fresh stories and possibly a more interesting future queen, but I’m not sure if William or Kate will go for it unless things are too bad in their private life.

  50. Likeyoucare says:

    Kate need to do something.
She need to visit her patronages, shows that she is working on something by attaching herself to any charities even only to take pictures.
Make it difficult for willie to divorce you, waity.
Because you deserve each other, live miserable till your dying days and remember HM are happy together.

    • BayTampaBay says:

      “remember HM are happy together”

THIS! This is what is killing the Doolittle’s!

Footnote: Did anyone else notice (watched BBC World News coverage in USA) that Zara and Mike Tindall were holding hands as they left Philip’s funeral? I thought it was a really nice look and reminded me of Meghan & Harry.

      • Betsy says:

“Killing the Doolittles” makes it sound like they’re some sort of united front. But I can buy that, separately, and for somewhat different reasons, they’re both jealous that Harry and Meghan are happy together.

      • swirlmamad says:

I read that all the couples (Zara and Mike, Eugenie and Jack, and Bea and Edo) were holding hands during the walk after at one point or another — you know, in the way any normal healthy couple would show support to each other in such an emotional time. All the couples, that is, except for our Future Keen King and Queen. Interesting indeed.

      • BayTampaBay says:

@swirlmamad – and except for Chucky & Cammy

  51. kelleybelle says:

Phil Dampier’s BS literally turned my stomach. I couldn’t even finish reading. He’s detestable. He was the one who gave all the credit to Kate for Meghan’s successful clothing collection. His credibility is practically non-existent. Every word I could stand to read was bullsh*t. Kate did nothing at the funeral except post for the cameras in inappropriate evening jewelry and an equally-inappropriate whimsical hat. She still cannot dress properly nor wear jewelry properly.

    • BayTampaBay says:

How did Phil Dampier give any credit to Kate for Meghan’s Smart Works “Smart Set Capsule Collection”?

      • Kalana says:

#katemiddletonsuccessstory was the backlash to Phil Dampier’s article that Meghan owed her success at Smart Works to Kate. Kate uh… set a precedent or something by existing as a female duchess before Meghan.

      • BayTampaBay says:

        @Kalana – Dampier said…WYF????

      • February-Pisces says:

From now on Phil Dampier will be known as Phil Damp-patch.

    • kelleybelle says:

He flat out wrote a piece that said Meghan owed all the credit for her clothing collection to Kate. It was incredibly ballsy and frankly, shitty. It was outrageous and the backlash was huge. You missed this? It’s probably one of the worst things the press did to Meghan. And as usual, Kate said nothing.

  52. JanetDR says:

This is almost funny, but somehow pathetic. Gee, she didn’t flash her knickers at the funeral, so good job?!

    • BayTampaBay says:

Does she even wear knickers when she is in flash mode?

      • Babz says:

Nope, or of she does, they’re teeny. We’ve seen quite a bit of the royal bum over the years.

      • Jaded says:

She wears the tiniest of butt-floss thongs – chica’s a total exhibitionist. I think she was ordered to start dressing appropriately after the last butt-flash incident in Australia.

  53. Amy Bee says:

The opposite of what Dampier said about Kate is the truth.

    • kelleybelle says:

Sorry, but she’s a dud, and they know it. That’s why all the saccharine embiggening. It’s as nauseating as baby-talk. Ugh. If I see one more photo with her head cocked to the side in that “I’m soooo interested” pose, I just hope people see her for what she is.

  54. Robin says:

Poor Philip. He has to wait until nearly 100 and dropping dead before his grandson’s wife acts her age. I’ll give them the rapidly aged, in looks.

    • Brincalhona says:

And she’s already a few years older than Diana was when she died. What would Kate’s legacy be?
If you’re gonna Photoshop pics at a funeral, surely you’d try to make yourself sadder and more red-eyed. Gurn Girl actually seems to be enjoying herself, probably as she counts working on a Saturday as double time

  55. Rapunzel says:

Okay, so I was watching the “Foreverware” episode of Eerie, Indiana yesterday. In it, two children discover a Tupperware saleswoman is using her “foreverware” Tupperware to seal in her twin boys so they don’t age. The two children stop the saleswoman and afterwards, her twins age 30 years overnight.

This is what I thought of when I read “maturing rapidly.”

    • L84Tea says:

OMG. I used to LOVE that show when I was in the 6th grade and that was the best episode EVER. I still sing the Foreverwear song occasionally. Foreverwear…for any dish that you prepare….

    • Lucy says:

Omg! I remember that episode from when I was a kid! Like Kate, I’m 40 soon 😂 Upside is, no one’s telling me I’m rapidly maturing. Because I’m an adult.

  56. MJM says:

So you come of age showing up for the funeral of a relative now eh? The bar is so low for her now it’s invisible. Such drivel.

  57. swirlmamad says:

This airhead is nearly 40 years old. Why are we still talking about her coming of age and maturing??? This is unbelievably stupid and if she had any sense she’d be utterly mortified.

    • Sigmund says:

It is SO infantilizing, and I genuinely can’t believe that this is supposed to be the “good” press about her?? She’s a grown woman, and they talk about her like she’s a toddler. I would so embarrassed by this coverage if I were her.

      • Ania says:

Exactly. I would be mad If someone wrote this about me. As an adult I would be sure they are trolling me. They will soon start praising her for being „such a big girl”….

  58. Hayley says:

This is beginning to sound like a roll-out to get the public used to thinking of Kate as a Queen, instead of Duchess. I think Charles is going to abdicate to let William have the job in order to bring “youth” back into the monarchy

    • Maria says:

      That will never happen.

    • swirlmamad says:

And that would be the downfall of the monarchy as we know it. Charles may be many things, but he’s not foolish enough to think his son and heir would actually do any of the things necessary to keep the monarchy going if he abdicated, far less modernize and overhaul it.

    • notasugarhere says:

Abdicating would call in to question the entire purpose of monarchy, as well as endanger the tax-free inheritance of the private wealth.

  59. Quackadilly Blip says:

Who “comes of age” at a funeral? Cringe.

    • Betsy says:

Well, The Queen did. But she was in her 20s and in that situation she actually did attain her highest role. Kate’s just a tool.

  60. Kitty says:

Just watched a clip of their earlier engagement today, my goodness l feel de sh…t is goin to hit de fan v soon, both Will and Kate smile for de camera, as soon as de shot is taken Kate esp changes face , even that loved up face that Kate does, didn’t work, she got her photo, but her face changed completely after, as if Will said ‘cut it out,,,, body language was just wrong , something def rotten in de
state of Windsor!!!! How does she stay in this marriage, must be horrendous….

    • Ania says:

One thing to lead separate lives, they can barely stand each other. Perfect cautionary tale for young people convinced they can fake anything in life… Kate married for status and money and Will married a wife who won’t exepct anything and tolerate everything. Just look how happy that made them. I can’t believe how can you willingly give up hope for happy family life, loving relationship for this.
No money in the world is worth it.

  61. Alexandria says:

I should really start ghost writing articles on these 2 especially KKKate Guevara. Easy and predictable.

Who uses rapidly maturing? Is she cheese? No wait, bacteria? I can’t decide if it’s shade but it sounds like shade.

  62. Mooshe1 says:

The royal rats are sickening. I don’t think I have ever in my 52 years seen so much azz kissing 🤢

  63. Kymburlie says:

Alright, already! While I agree with all of the interpretations of Will/Kate, there ARE other adjectives besides “engorged” and “incandescent!” So sick of reading these two words! Surely, there are a few thousand more adjectives in the English language.

  64. Amelia says:

she doesn’t hold grudges or seek revenge’? What was that whole drama with Rose then? Also immediately copying your sis in law with fashion choices and zoom backgrounds just to say “anything she can do I can do better than her” if that isn’t petty and revenge fuel behaviour I don’t know what is

Also latest “engagement” wearing D&G (known and exposed to display anti Asian racism and bigotry ) in an environment where anti-Asian hate is spreading badly is not a good look.

But sure “wE aRe VeRy mUcH nOt a RaCiSt fAmiLy yOu gUys”

    • Jaded says:

And I suppose the stone-cold hatchet face she made at Meghan and Harry at the Commonwealth church service was not holding a grudge and showing maturity? “sEe i’M aLL grOwed uP yOu gUys!”

  65. Izzy says:

So we are praising her readiness to ascend to power because she *checks notes* dressed in black and behaved appropriately at a funeral. OK.

  66. Lizzie says:

Anyone dim enough to believe ‘rapidly maturing’ is supposed to be a compliment to a 39 yo woman?

  67. Mrs.Krabapple says:

The fact that so many British people think Kate is the example of perfect womanhood, actually paints British people in a bad light. Like the way enough Americans voted Trump into power paints Americans in a bad light.

    • Haylie says:

We’ve got to stop confusing British people with British royalist who take YouGov push polls. I suspect most Brits don’t care about Kate all that much.

I’m sure she has the support of the women who chased after a loser for a decade only to realize too late that he’s a dud.

    • Ania says:

Well, Kate and Melania resonate so good with people who like a stepford wife, a nice little lady who looks pretty and doesn’t rock the boat. I’m rewatching Mad Men now and those two would fit perfectly there.

  68. Joanna says:

“Coming of age?” At 39? Gtfoh w That B S Phil

  69. Andrea says:

If William has been having a long term affair on her, you can all breathe a sigh of relief. She is going to be fading into maturity in a few years as a divorcee.

    • Sofia says:

Honestly I’ll doubt they’ll divorce. Never say never and all that but they’ll probably end up openly leading separate lives and that’s it.

    • Alexandria says:

Divorce? But she’s perfect for William, he just doesn’t want to admit they’re both the same 😁 don’t they deserve each other? Both cut from the same cloth, both with same level of intellect and maturity. That’s right William if you’re reading this, don’t divorce Top CEO. Enjoy your punishment…I mean reward

But anyway if they do divorce it’s no big deal. A commentator here already outlined what he can do to place all the blame on Kkkatie. Stay tuned.

      • BayTampaBay says:

Same Bat Time??? Same Bat Channel???

      • A says:

Honestly, even if William did divorce Kate…who’s going to want to be with him after? No one did all through his twenties, and that was back when he had hair. Now even that’s gone. All that’s left is a rage monster with mediocre dick game, and a sh-tty personality. All William is good for is for boning on the side, does anyone really want to be saddled with that for the rest of their life?

Some people in these comments are flat out writing fanfiction at this point, insisting that William finds Kate dull, that he wants an “intelligent career woman”, who he can love and share a life with. Um? Seriously? Are we talking about the same f-cking person here? William, the incandescently immature raging idiot? The jealous, petty, Kim Jong-Un cosplayer who ran his brother and SIL out of the country bc he couldn’t stand that two bright, charismatic, engaged individuals rightfully overshadowed him with their dedication and hard work?

THIS man is somehow magically going to wake up one morning, fall in love with a smart, hard-working woman who is also able to become a dedicated public servant in the same vein as Diana? And more importantly, that this hypothetical unicorn of a human being would actually love him back, to the extent of wanting to become his wife? To the extent that she’d over look his raging, his pettiness, and his jealousies? And that William will suddenly, magically be okay with his potential wife being better at him at this job, and overshadowing him in literally any capacity?

Like, yes, William could very well divorce Kate if he wanted. But people are fooling themselves if they think it’ll be bc she’s ill-suited to her position, or bc she’s lazy. He’s never cared abt that sh-t, considering how lazy and ill-suited he himself is. If he divorces Kate, it’ll be for no other reason except that he’s selfish, and whoever his side piece is that he wants to bring to the spotlight as his wife won’t be any better. She’ll likely just be an aristocratic, snobby version of Kate, who does less work. William has a type, and short of getting a personality transplant that rebuilds his entire brain wiring from the ground up, he’s not going to deviate from that model any time soon.

      • Alexandria says:

@Bay is my smiley looking like a bat? I’m confused haha

      • Becks1 says:

I think if they divorce it will be because he wants one and I think he will only want one if he finds someone else that wants him on a permanent basis.

I don’t think (and I think most posters here prob agree with me) that that means the “someone else” is going to be like Meghan, in terms of drive and intelligence and work ethic, but I do think it will be someone who embarrasses him less (i.e. can give a speech without him practically rolling his eyes).

      • A says:

@Becks1, William is not rolling his eyes at Kate bc she’s bad at her public duties. He’s rolling his eyes bc he’s an asshole. He’d treat his wife the same way even if she was actually good at giving speeches and didn’t embarrass him, bc William is an insecure, jealous rage monster, and that’s how men like him operate. They tear down the people around them, especially their wives.

The idea that he’s scoffing at Kate bc he’s embarrassed at how bad she is is the part that’s fanfic, bc it implies that he gives a sh-t abt doing his public duties well, and when has that ever been true about William?

If he divorces Kate, my guess is that it’ll be for someone who’s even more sycophantic and “keen” on him that she was, and is. How good they’ll be at duchessing remains to be seen though.

    • Lizzie says:

Why would they divorce? She chased him for a decade so she could be queen consort and he can have 10 mistresses and doesn’t need a divorce scandal. They will each get what they want. I’m not sure they are living together since the queen gave him another house.

    • The Recluse says:

Ah, but watch the Middletons exploit the children to retain some hold on influence and attention.

      • notasugarhere says:

Why else do you think Carole was attached to George’s hip the first few years of his life, but hasn’t been seen publicly with any other grandkids?

  70. A says:

Again, at this point, I’m just like, okay Waity. Do your PR thing. I see you though. Some day every one else will too, if they haven’t smelled the desperation wafting off of her already.

  71. February-Pisces says:

Once again she is exploiting another dead person for her own PR. How many sugary pieces have there been since the funeral. How are her stans not embarrassed by her, her greatest achievement is wearing a black coat to a funeral?

  72. Marg says:

    Absolutely!

  73. Monica says:

If Kate had any self-awareness whatsoever, she’d be mortified by these patronizing stories.

  74. Mia says:

    The infantilism is so creepy.

I kept seeing that the funeral arrangements were made by the lord Chamberlain, is that Rose’s Husband? Or am I confusing toffs?

    • Becks1 says:

I haven’t heard that (about who planned it) but there is a difference between the Lord Chamberlain and the Great Lord Chamberlain (the latter being David Rocksavage and Rose’s husband).

  75. Alex says:

For the love of god, a gossip person needs to tally every single article where they say Kate is finally growing up and present it all on one page. I want to know how many times one can finally grow into a role.

  76. Rnot says:

There’s so much desperation dripping off the Kate stories from multiple authors over the past few months. Something is really wrong behind the scenes. I don’t like Kate’s behavior but I do feel a little sorry for her. The Middleton family seems just as toxic as the Windsors in different ways.

I can’t help but remember how Diana’s sisters told her it was too late to back out of the wedding because her face was “already on the tea towels.” After the divorce her younger brother refused to let her move back to the Spencer family’s 15,000 acre estate. Does anyone think that Kate’s family would support her if she wanted out of her marriage? She doesn’t seem to have any social support network other than her family. I wonder if she has any adult relationships that aren’t transactional. Does anyone in her life like Kate for Kate?

I look at her and I see a terribly unhappy, insecure, isolated woman with an eating disorder. She got the devil’s bargain of wealth and status that’s entirely dependent on a man who doesn’t love or respect her. I can’t see their marriage surviving their respective midlife crises.

    • swirlmamad says:

She seems to have an unhealthy dependency on her family for a grown married woman, namely her mother…so on the one hand you would think that if the marriage imploded they would pull her back into the fold to protect her, but on the other CarolE might be so livid that her lifelong plot was foiled that she might just disown her.

  77. VIV says:

I know there are already 200 comments saying this but… LooooooL! Embarrassing.

  78. Noor says:

Wondering whether Duchess Kate dressing, jewellery and makeup were over the top for a funeral. It has the air of revenge dressing, like she is making some kind of statement. Eerily it seems like the reply to Meghan green dress ensemble at the 2019 Commonwealth event.

  79. The Recluse says:

Time may be running out on the British Monarchy. My guess is that they plan on their children holding the public’s interest where they themselves can’t…unless they prove to have their parents’ flawed personalities as well.
The parents are such petty mediocrities, who knows how this will turn out.

  80. aquarius64 says:

The one thing that bounces Kate out of the House of Windsor is one or none of the Cambridge kids aren’t Baldy’s. A constitutional crisis indeed; the succession would have been impacted. Harry and Meghan would have been moved closer to the throne; and there are too many factions that wouldn’t tolerate a biracial queen consort. And Archie – a future king who has descended from slaves? No.

  81. MsGnomer says:

I find I have zero interest in BRF these days. Of course I hold respect for their position and history, but the feeling is gone. I think it has packed and moved to Cali. Maybe now there will be a break in gossip coverage here in the States, and other people will grace the covers of magazines at the checkout line.

Congrats, Catherine, on being so awesome. Hope your choice was worth it.

  82. Day drinker says:

I propose a drinking game. Every time we write Kate has “come of age”, we drink a shot of tequila. She has come of age so many times she should be older than the Queen.

  83. Mona says:

Why does the press talk about Kate like a preemie baby who is hitting all her first milestones? She is 40 if she is indeed “maturing” now she is kind of very behind schedule…. XD
