Joaquin Phoenix’s final moment of the Oscars was a reminder of so many things for me, mostly how much I cannot stand Joaquin’s performative awards-show angst. I much prefer the vibe Riz Ahmed had throughout the entire Oscar season. He was happy to speak about the work (Sound of Metal), he was charming and happy to play along in interviews, striking the balance between earnestness and coolness. It was a big deal to him that he got nominated for an Oscar and I tend to believe he was a bigger contender than people realize. I think the late Chadwick Boseman, Riz Ahmed and Anthony Hopkins split the vote in a big way and Hopkins ended up squeaking out the win. Still, I bet Riz impressed a lot of producers and directors for how gracefully he wore his Best Actor nomination and I bet he works non-stop from here.
Plus, Riz is just hot. He’s got a great British accent, he wears the hell out of a suit and he carries himself well. Riz wore Prada last night and he looked like a winner, even if he lost. He and his wife, author Fatima Farheen Mirza, made their red carpet debut at the Oscars. They got married last year during the pandemic! She’s absolutely gorgeous and one moment went viral: Riz stopped posing for the cameras for a second so he could fix Fatima’s hair and dress. HOT.
Leslie Odom Jr. wore Brioni, and his wife wore Zuhair Murad. Love the gold!!
Daniel Kaluuya wore all-black Bottega Venetta. I could quibble with the tailoring on this suit, but I honestly think Daniel was just trying to get through the night without sobbing or cursing live on camera. He was moved when he won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar! Really amazing and cool.

I love Fatima’s blue dress and the way she’s letting her white hairs show and still looks amazing. They both looked great.
Her dress is jaw droppingly amazing, one that not just anyone could pull off. She’s perfection from head to toe. Her husband actually looks slightly too casual to me in comparison. A tie would have been nice.
But he is hot and I have enjoyed interviews with him, he seems like a true artist. Someone on Twitter commented that he seems really arrogant but I haven’t gotten that at all.
I love Odom’s gold suit and his wife is gorgeous, just beautiful. Kaluyya’s suit unfortunately looks a bit baggy.
This! I have the same hair, but lighter/mid brown. To age gracefully isn’t easy, but if you can pull it off you’re strong and stunning.
She is perfection here.
Agree. She looks incredible. Better than a lot of these Hollywood actresses whose job it is to look good.
Leslie Odom Jr is absolutely stunning in that gorgeous suit! Thank you, sir! Riz and Fatima are a sleek modern dream, they look wonderful together
They look beautiful. I also wish Daniel Kaluuya got a better tailor because he is gorgeous (and was amazing in Judas and the Black Messiah) but that suit was an odd fit.
Yeah. He’s a handsome young man, and this makes him look like an old church greeter. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but you know. It’s actually detracting.
I agree, the fit of his suit is very strange. It looks off the rack and a size too big, not some thing professionally tailored and styled.
Both couples look lovely.
Yes, I agree. Riz and Fatima were the perfect Oscar couple. I especially like her hair.
She’s definitely one of, if not the best dressed for me. I loved the colour and the flow of her dress, and her shoes are gorgeous! Plus pop of contrasting colour on feet (when done well) always adds an edge to an outfit.
Together they make one good-looking couple.
That made my heart skip a beat, the way he was smoothing out her hair. It was very sweet.
They are one beautiful couple.
Can we talk about how Fatima is still looking fabulously youthful with her gray hair?! Beautiful couple ❤️
+1
In a sea of smooth foreheads and perfectly colored locks, I found her gray hairs and natural looking forehead lines oddly youthful looking.
Both her and the dress are stunning. And she motivates me to let my grey hairs be.
I’m 4 months in and my almost 14yo thinks I’m too young (at almost 46). May have something to do with us losing her dad last fall, but I’m kind of liking it 🤷🏻♀️
Same! I’ve been diligently pulling them out (I know, I know!) and frankly it’s inspiring to see someone so stunning (and young!) embrace them.
What a lovely couple, they are both really stunning people
Couple goals!!!
I love Fatima’s dress and colour
I had never paid attention to him,i recently just saw The Night Of,he was really good.
They are really really beautiful together. Her dress is amazing and that’s usually not colour I like.
It’s a color many people could not pull off at all under any circumstances. She makes it look easy and just right.
Riz seems lovely and is a great actor. He and his wife looked great last night!
Riz and Fatima are a gorgeous couple and Fatima’s dress is stunning! The color looks amazing with her skin tone, and I love how Riz was fixing her hair. Leslie Odom’s suit *chef’s kiss* his wife *double chef’s kiss*.
Wow, she’s beautiful! Would love to see some big dripping diamond earrings to lock in the look.
Oh maaaan love Fatima’s dress. It reminds me of a dupatta and shalwar kameez (traditional Pakistani clothes)🥲
I just want to see Riz Ahmed and Rege-Jean Page in something together. They could play brothers or rivals competing for the same love interest.
Can Bottega Veneta properly tailor a suit? Riz and his wife looked AMAZING.
LOVED Riz and Fatima’s looks. Wasn’t boring but wasn’t over-the-top either. The Odoms looked good too.
Sooo, apparently, word from the particular corner of Muslim twitter I follow is that there’s some #tea about his relationship with his wife, but I don’t want to bring that up here, bc they do look cute together, and he did get nominated for an Oscar. I love the blue of her dress, honestly, it’s probably my favourite colour, and she’s pulling it off here. Riz Ahmed looks sharp as well.
common!! I don’t have twitter and now I need to know lol
It’s really nothing horrible or like…particularly interesting. There’s just some chatter about how he has more than one story about how he met his wife, and he can’t really keep them consistent between interviews, LOL. I hesitated to share it bc I really can’t corroborate it much, it’s just chatter, but it’s enough for people to question if maybe he had something like an arranged marriage setup. It’s really just low stakes stuff, lol.
I think calling Joaquin “performative”in his angst is unfair. He seems very authentic. While he is definitely a “famous and critically acclaimed white boy actor who believes that ART is more important than being a kind person or at least not an asshole” he also seems like someone who genuinely suffers from anxiety and hates doing this part of the Hollywood machine because it makes him really uncomfortable. He’s respected amd talented enough to have won more oscars but he plays the game horribly. At this point I don’t think it can be called performative but instead is the real genuine deal. I wish (and probably Joaquin too) I could be as calm, cool and charming as Riz but I don’t have that in me. Some people are just uncomfortable and while Joaquin is certainly pretentious in the worst way being awkward/anxious isnt something you can just snap your fingers and stop being. Also dude literally lost the brother he hero worshipped to the Hollywood machine. Even decades later I can see him having many many anxieties about Hollywood that prevent him from just relaxing and enjoying his good fortune. Thou since he met his wife and had a son he has chilled out. I’m not trying to give him a free ride ( art is important but his reputation both confirmed and whispered says he seems to value it more than other people and their feelings) but I can empathetic with how awkward he comes across. That has never seemed faked to me.
Also riz Ahmed is insanely cool calm and charming and his wife seems to match him (I bet he would say surpass) on every score and they are both super hot together
OMG! Her novel “A Place for Us” is going to be the book for my next “Coming to America” book club meeting at the library. She is a master at creating complex characters and detailing what it is to be a first-generation American child of immigrant parents. Highly recommend!!!
Awesome to see modest fashion here though personally I dont love this dress or shoes overall it’s a nice look
I absolutely love Fatima’s hair and that she lets white/gray be. I let mine be as well, I call them my sparklers after my 10-year-old son said they were sparkly.
I think you’ll find the perfect Oscar couple is me and Riz Ahmed but whatever…
Fatima is gorgeous and I love her hair! 😍
Loved Riz and Fatima but speaking of Oscar couples, did I miss the moment when Aaron Sorkin got to start dating Paulina Porizkova? I’m old enough to remember her supermodel days and was so sad about how things ended with her and Ric and especially his will after his death. I follow her on Instagram and love her on there. So when did she start dating Sorkin?
Just within the last few months. This was their first public outing.
Riz fixing Fatima’s hair kinda reminded me of Harry fixing Meghan’s hair. These two are husband goals, so loving and attentive.
Bond. James Bond.
Really wanted Riz to win this one. He and his wife are stunning (same with Leslie Odom Jr. and his wife). Daniel isn’t so fashionable, but he could probably look similarly great all spiffed up by the right stylist.
