Lady Gaga’s old teachers aren’t impressed with her fame. The pop singer was educated at one of the Sacred Heart schools in New York City. Not surprisingly, the nuns there were a little shocked – and definitely displeased – when they were shown a video of Gaga’s VMA performance this past weekend.
If you were a part in the education of Lady Gaga at an early age, how would you feel about the current fruits of your labor?
Yeah, we’re not sure either.
Teachers at the Convent of the Sacred Heart girls school in New York City, where a little Italian girl named Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta matriculated for several years, are shocked, according to the New York Post.
From her pantless outfits to her controversial staged death at the MTV Video Music Awards, there’s not much a nun can really condone, whether Lady Gaga’s work is considered art or not.
“When someone showed the nuns a video of her bloody performance at Sunday night’s VMA Awards, the good sisters were not amused,” a source tells the paper.

I doubt that this is the first time they’ve seen or heard about Lady Gaga’s antics. They’re probably not getting Twitters from Perez Hilton or anything, but most schools keep tabs on their famous alumni. But you never know – sometimes it’s amazing how people only hear the good things. I remember about ten years ago some news show – I think it was “Dateline” or “20/20” – went to Britney Spears’ small hometown in Louisiana and asked the locals if they were proud of her. They all said yes, and then the reporter showed them pictures of Britney in that naked “Satisfaction” outfit she wore at the VMAs and her kissing Madonna and whatnot. And all their faces fell and they seemed genuinely surprised. So I guess it’s possible the nuns didn’t realize the extent of Lady Gaga’s act. I’m guessing her next outfit will be some sort of ripped apart nun’s habit with random parts of furniture glued to it.
Speaking of Lady Gaga back in the day – here are some great yearbook photos of her. She also mentions that she was “‘separated at birth’” from Britney Spears.
HAHA 😀
Ok, I’m sorry, but she looked like a damn tampon hanging on the string like that with all the blood and the white outfit…..Everytime I see a tampon now, I’m reminded of her horrible performance.
They are nuns, it’s unlikely that they have paid attention to her career. I mean, yeah they taught her, but how many other girls have they taught since then? I’ve always been impressed by how well teachers remember former students, but I don’t think they’re spending their evenings downloading her songs from iTunes and watching her videos.
That said, I can totally picture some teen thinking it would be hilarious to show the sisters the performance.
well out of the blue that performance would probably shock ANYONE never mind a nun for goodness sake!
Lady Gaga aims to do the whole ‘shock and awe’ thing so why is the response of her old teachers a shocking surprise? And NEWS!?
In fact, let’s be honest, whose life wouldn’t leave their teachers a ‘little shocked – and definitely displeased’ !?
For all the attention Lady Gagag draws with her wigs and makeup and weird outfits, I bet she can go out in public as a normal person and the paparazzi don’t bother her or know who she is.
Catholic school breeds people like this. Hey, I went to Catholic school as did my sister. She ended up being an atheist and I’m agnostic. Catholic school is certainly NOT for everyone and a lot of kids feel even more alienated when they are forced into that environment. I really don’t care what the nuns at Gaga’s school thing of her. Other people don’t determine your worth or your value. It’s what you do that counts, and people can still make great decisions and be positive without all the judgment.
Well, Gaga has sure given us plenty of potential Halloween costume ideas to offset the onslaught of Micheal Jackson ones that will be out in force this year.
At least she’s shocking someone.
But between Bjork and a 5th grade Halloween party, it’s been done.
As someone who has never heard her music, I look at her, wince, and find myself taking pride in that fact.
Good point, Trillion. And they cost little to make. A little cardboard, mirror shards and glue and you’re done.
Anyway, Catholic schools have been cranking out rebels since the dawn of time.
My daughter went to Sacred Heart Schools and I think she got the best education ever. This young lady was able to be who she is because of the “nuns” allowing her to flourish in her own skin and become who she is today. I see this independence and confidence in my own girl, who BTW is the same age. Rock on SSH!
It’s weird. All the sudden I like her. Just this very moment.
I didn’t go to Catholic school, but I did have to go to catechism on Wednesdays and church on Sundays. Guess what? I’m a hippie atheist now.
I’ve said it before. I’ll say it again. Lady Gaga is the next Madonna. I was around when Madonna first broke out, people. She was not automatically this huge iconic star. She was wild, strange, unpredictable and people did not know what to make of her. There were varying opinions of her beauty, her talent, and how long she would last. But she was fearless and that is what set her apart. Lady Gaga is even more vocally talented. She will go the distance. Mark my words.
She’s making money doing what she does. What the nuns think is irrelevant.
This story is a complete fabrication by Page Six. There are only two nuns left at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Manhattan, and I seriously doubt they watched the VMA performance as they are in their 80s and late 70s. Makes one realize how many gossip column items are spun out of thin air!
hahah! Love it, Sassy!! Hah!
oh look it is a Christina wannabe! Lets all crowd around and make her feel important.
Sorry this look has been played out about 12 years ago!
So reminiscent of Madonna’s early years. Shock! Scandal! $$$$$$
Wonder when LGG’s nude book will come out?
Well , I am a Lady Gaga fan. I believe I am her biggest fan in fact. I like all the wacky, crazy, unpredictable things that she does. All of you may think she is a freak. It does not matter what anyone thinks to her, obviously. I loved her performance at the VMA’s ! I am trying to get my mom to buy me Lady Gaga tickets for December 18th at the Wachovia Center. I love all her outfits & her acccesories. I think she really puts out that being an individual is ok. I like to be an individual. My friends accept me for who I am, not what I do or what i wear. I think Catholic school is stupid. I go to public school, not because my parents can’t afford Catholic School payments, but because it was my choice of the matter. So for all who thinks she is a hermafrodite or she is bisexual, SHE IS ! I accept her for who she is & you should to. It is not her fault she wants to be differennt or she was born different.
She’s not a hermaphrodite, honey. And anybody as young as you shouldn’t have her as a role model, it’s unhealthy.
I am a fan of Gaga but she is definitely Rated R, and not for children.
Bears repeating: Spectacle is the poor man’s talent.
That hairstyle is ridiculous and the shoulder pads – OMG, That is just horrible.
Fashion 911 needs to help this one out
She looks like Edna from The Incredibles! LOL 🙂
They are just upset cause Lady GaGa, didn’t come dressed up as a Nun.
Just as I suspected: she was just an ordinary, slutty teenager. It really annoys me that everyone thinks she is so unique. Please- her music is bland pop, that could be sung by anyone. I couldn’t believe how simpleton her music was when I heard it, judging by all the hype surrounding her outfits. A little while back, I read a story that said gaga stole someones style (I don’t remember the brits name), and now we can all see that she was telling the truth! I am sorry, but as someone who has always dressed different, you do not go from being a “preppy”, ordinary person all of your life to suddenly being “different” & “unique” in such an in your face way. Obviously it is for attention, and mainstream retards eat it up like she is the second coming of jesus. What a poseur.
It’s all her schtick, what’s the big deal?
After being in Iraq Lady Gaga is not shocking at all. White toast all the way thank you.
I went to a Catholic grade school and high school, and didn’t see the need for my kids to attend one. My daughter now goes to a Sacred Heart School, but not because it’s Catholic, but because it’s a top private school. She’s now getting the academic challenge she so wanted.
this is completely untrue. i attend sacred heart now and we are all proud of her fame
