I would assume there was some kind of meeting between the senior aides of Clarence House, Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace about what to do regarding Archie Mounbatten-Windsor’s second birthday, which is today. Would the palaces mark the child’s birthday, or would their unhinged grudge against Harry and Meghan extend to a child? In the end, all three palaces posted old photos to mark Archie’s birthday. Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace seemed to post their messages around the same time, and then one hour later, Clarence House posted something.
The photos chosen were hella interesting. Archie has not been on British soil since November/December 2019. Archie did not travel with his parents when they dropped the Sussexit announcement in January 2020, nor did Archie come to the UK for the You Coulda Had a Bad Bitch farewell tour in March 2020. So no one in the royal family has actually seen Archie in person for some-odd 18 months, probably longer. I would imagine that the Queen has seen Archie via Zoom! But I also doubt that Meghan and Harry are sending photos of Archie to Baldingham, Keen Guevara and Chaz.
So, Kensington Palace chose to post the formal portrait from Archie’s christening. Charles also chose a photo from the christening – one of himself, Harry and Archie and no Meghan. Buckingham Palace chose a pic from the “baby’s first photocall” just after Meghan gave birth. Sidenote: the Keen Cambridge stans are now really mad at Charles because he didn’t do dedicated birthday posts for Prince Louis or Princess Charlotte. To be fair to Chaz… he’s actually seen his Cambridge grandkids somewhat recently and I bet he actually got Charlotte and Louis something for their birthdays. Doubt he sent anything to America for Archie.

Their official spokespeople verified that they had when asked. “Sources” are more the speed of the BM when talking about family members still in the UK. The birthday photos of the Cambridge children were those taken and approved by Kate, why should it be different for Harry’s children?

I’m not bothered by the old pictures, yes they haven’t seen Archie in well over a year but I also think that these are the pictures authorized by Harry and Meghan to share. Even if someone on the Queen’s staff took a cute picture of the Queen zooming with Archie, H&M might not have wanted that picture shared. (but how cute would that have been???)

Sussex Royal released that picture back in 2019 for Charles’s birthday (I think it was for his bday), so it’s already been seen – I doubt Charles has any other pictures with Archie, but even if he did, like I said, I think this is one that is authorized by H&M to share.

The look on Harry’s face in the pic with his Grandparents is pure awe, and I love how Doria is always so zen, no matter the setting or the people around her. She calms ME down.

It’s always rankled that they seemed never to acknowledge his existence; barely, if at all, recognizing Meghan when in their presence. We have seen these children (royal children) from almost day one and I believe, due to our support of his parents, we too share the joy of watching Archie grow. Plus, in days of a pandemic when we need a smile – some of us take great joy in seeing children even if they are not our own.

All this about the titles. Archie is not a blood prince. He is a great-grandchild of Elizabeth 2 and not entitled to the title. If you ask me George, Charlotte and Louis should not be prince/princess either.
Nobody ever mentions though that Edward’s children, grandchildren of the monarch, are not princess and prince.
The York girls got their Princess titles 30 years ago when things were a lot different but frankly they should be taken away and they should have the titles of the children of an ordinary duke which is the title Archie should have. Maybe he does, as Harry will have a secondary title though.
In this day and age – and this is bad enough – only children due to inherit the throne should be prince or princess in the future.
@carolind Edward’s children ARE HRH and Prince and Princess under the same letters patent that give their cousins those titles (excepting Peter and Zara as they are in female line). Edward and Sophie just choose to go with lesser styles. But legally they have those titles. There’s a fairly long print interview with Sophie from shortly before the pandemic where she speaks to this exactly and says while they technically have HRH and prince/Princess and can decide to use them in adulthood, they’re being raised with the goal of independent careers. But technically they aren’t any different than William, Harry, Beatrice, and Eugenie title-wise.

When I saw the post from the Cambridges, my first thought was “William is still trying to convince everyone he wasn’t the one to ask about Archie’s skin color.” It’s nice that they’re acknowledging that hey, there’s another nephew/grandson, but it really rings false to me. The BRF has shown they don’t actually wish this child any happiness, so faking it for social media just comes off so wrong. But it would have been worse to ignore it, so idk what the answer really is.

The big take from the family portrait is that Meghan understands optics. That big green pillow, to me, represents space from the D & D of Cringe (thanks to CB poster). You know what’s truly sad, this is Harry first child. None of the grandmothers I know would dare post photos on facebook of their grandchildren. Very few parents I know post photos of their children without something covering the faces.
It’s possible that the BRF has newer photos of Archie and didn’t want to use them without H&M’s express permission, knowing how the latter feel about that issue. And of course they’re too dysfunctional to just pick up the phone or go on Zoom and ask H&M, “Hey, do you mind if we use that Christmas photo you sent us to post a birthday greeting to Master Archie?”
IMO, Harrys’ birth family, all of them, should privately Zoom each other. Make a quiet peace. So many new babies in the family and do they really want the next time they see each other to be at The Queens funeral?
In the last 2 years I have lost 3-5 siblings. The remaining sibling and I have been estranged and not spoken to each other in 23 years. As we stood over our favorite brothers grave, I quietly reached out and held his hand. In a few days, I spoke with him. Both apologized, such a waste of time. By God, I did not want to stand at his grave filled with years of regret to live with.

They will not have peace as long as they are rude and/or cold and/or plotting against Archie’s mother. They don’t have to like Meghan but they do need to respect Meghan as Harry’s wife. I think people are purposely missing that this is not just some minor misunderstanding that can swept under the rug. Harry’s family tried to destroy his wife. Do you understand? They hoped that she would no longer exist. How do you just pretend that didn’t happen and move on and pretend to be a family? Especially since they are still trying to destroy her and won’t ever stop.
I didn’t read it like that. I read SusanRagains post as one about the Windsors needing to acknowledge the consequences of the one sided war they’re waging against the Sussexes and do better. That’s a sentiment I can get behind because as Susan says the cost of that is very high for everyone involved. It would be awful if the next time they see each other is The Queen’s funeral cause for us as fans of Harry and Meghan that’s us understanding loud and clear that the Windsors would not learn, educate themselves about racism, apologise and be kind to their own family. That would hurt anyone including Harry and Meghan. I hope for better from the Windsors for their sake. I don’t believe the Windsors are capable of it but I hope they do right by Harry, Meghan and their family.

The Royal Family was forced to acknowledge Archie’s birthday, even if it’s with old pictures, because of the fallout from the Oprah interview. I’m guessing the Palace were afraid that if they didn’t, they would be called racist. The Palace having to use old pictures just shows that there is no relationship between Harry, Meghan and the rest of the family.
I think they would have wished him a happy birthday regardless because it’s a time for their racist fan base to really come out. Same for Meghan and Harry. They will always wish them a happy birthday for that reason alone . They know who their core fan base is.
I feel like they would have ignored his birthday had the Oprah interview not happened. Charles and Kate and William posted the exact same pictures from the baptism they posted last year in 2020 for Archie’s birthday, I checked. The Queen’s social media people at least posted a different picture (they posted the picture of Prince Philip and the Queen smiling at Archie with Doria, Harry, and Meghan on the day of the photocall to present Archie to the world last year). They don’t have any other official pictures to use so they keep reusing the same ones from the first photocall and the baptism.
If Harry and Meghan decide not to release anything this year for Archie’s birthday, maybe they’ll release something when Meghan gives birth? I would imagine they would probably release a nice family photo like they did for the maternity photo shoot maybe with Archie’s head not showing. Happy birthday little Archie!

Not being funny, but William and Kate have got absolutely no right to be calling Archie, just Archie. In notifications, they invariably, ridiculously always refer to their own children as Prince……, Princess……… They should accord that same privilege to every other child in the world. I understand why H/M is not posting new pic with Archie Face.the black and white pics is a good way to see him but not see his features.he is being protected,cause he will start school and they don’t want anyone to hunt him down if they know what he looks like. i also think he will have a fake name when he starts school.so the press can’t find him. with all the hate that is going on for her and her son,it will be easy for someone to track down Archie when he starts school,but if they don’t know what he looks like ,it will make Archie life easier..I am guessing that pap pic of Meghan carrying Archie is illegal. cause they posted a black and white pic of Archie back,looking up at balloons. there are mentally ill people out there that will try to harm Archie/Meghan. so i think she is going about this in the right way . she can’t expose her son to the press. when it comes to Archie and his mother ,evil is always lurking in the shadows to harm them….
