The Windsors are a bunch of desperados, utter clowns who want to do the most to get attention for themselves on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s anniversary all while refusing to publicly acknowledge the anniversary. In their minds, they think they’re one-upping Harry and Meghan and changing the subject away from them. Even the Daily Mail noted that today seems to be “a bumper day of royal news and engagements.” Like, these people are being that f–king obvious. Let’s see how they like the spotlight.
The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out for a solo event today at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. The V&A has reopened for visitors and she was there to see a new exhibition. For Kate’s special day, she bought – with Charles’ money – a £1,565 houndstooth dress from Alessandra Rich. She paired it with £550 Jennifer Chamandi suede pumps and “delicate gold necklaces and £17 earrings from & Other Stories.” The Mail said Kate was “giving a masterclass in daytime glamour.” ORLY.
This dress looks terrible on Kate. She looks like a Christmas-themed tube. It’s so unflattering on her figure and so incredibly dated. The puffy shoulders, the massive lapel/collar, the sad AF drop waist. I will never, ever understand how Kate knows so little about what actually suits her figure. She wants to make her legs look longer (that’s why she was such a fan of short, twirly skirts), yet she consistently draws attention to how she’s really long-waisted and thin-hipped. I guess the ol’ girl just wants to look like a plaid tube these days. She also got fresh Botox and new highlights. She really went all out for her one day of work this week, timed specifically for her brother-in-law’s anniversary. Very keen, a true lynchpin, the Christmas tube who saved the monarchy. The Future Future Queen Tube. (And it’s the middle of May! This is such an off-season look.)

Keen Guevara NEVER layered necklaces before Meg came on the scene. That dress looks like cheap polyester; the drop waist looks awful on her. For someone with an elongated torso, it’s not a good choice. But I guess she saw BUTTONS! and that was that. Also, give the buckled shoes back to granny.

When I saw that first pic of Kate I was like “Oh this doesn’t look too bad” but then I scrolled and saw the bottom half and went “Oh.” I don’t think it’s toooo bad (that white silk Peter Pan collar blouse still makes me cringe if I come across it) but the top half and the bottom half don’t match very well IMO. Not her best coat dress by far.

yes, the one abigail appropriately styled with a belt. the last time kate wore that one it didnt look this bad because she showed some leg with the high slit. she really needed the belt here.
It’s that the Midd women are LONG waisted. So a drop waist accentuates the long torso and short legs. Add to that Kate is V shaped (very slim hipped), and that makes it look worse. It literally hangs from her shoulders in an unflattering drape down, that “flare” does not “save” it.

This is a terrible look on Kate. Since she has seemingly so little substance and interests we are left to comment on her fashion but like 90% of the time her fashion is horrible. Her stylist must hate her. It’s unflattering in almost every way possible. The dress is tacky in itself but I think the York sisters could pull it off as they both have hips and a balanced waistline. That’s a dress that needs to be filled out.
She is thin, so painfully, painfully thin. If she had always looked like that I wouldn’t be commenting, but no one goes from that slim athletic build she had to this without something painful. She’s wearing those godawful sleeves in part for Diana cosplay (Diana wore a red plaid monster in the 80s, I’m pretty sure, but it had a huge white collar and a black bolo style bow?), but also to mask how thin her arms are.
And somehow the buttons strain across the chest? I don’t understand.
This. I am not body shaming, she can do what she likes. But she is dangerously, worryingly thin.

And remember the camera adds 10 lbs. She is clearly underweight and you could stab yourself on her collarbones. I think this stems from having to deal with an absolute prick of a husband and the stress/anxiety of having to “Duchess”. She’s not smart enough, focused enough or comfortable enough with the public to give the job any credit. I’m sure the successes Meghan and Harry are enjoying, plus their obvious love and respect for each other, grates on her no end knowing how competitive and mean-girlish she can be.

That was my reaction too – how can she be SO thin and yet have the buttons gap. And the plaid doesn’t match completely in the front. I am a seamstress and I would rip out that placket and do it again.
I noticed the straining buttons too. She’s trying to look as thin as possible as if that’s more important than looking good.
There was a picture of her doing archery a few days ago and her hands looked so bony and thin as though they were those of an 80 year old woman. She didn’t always look like this and it’s sad that the media still tries to pretend that her look is aspirational. It’s really not and it is frankly dangerous to pretend that other girls and women should try to emulate this.
In a Times article from 2010 before the engagement her friends mentioned she’s “incredibly disciplined about what she eats” (not necessarily a warning sign) and that there has always been a family competition about who is thinnest, Kate, Pippa or Carole (definitely a warning sign).
I imagine it’s just gotten more disordered.
She slimmed down a great deal before the wedding, I remember pictures of her in that blue suit where she looked super super thin, but then she gained some back around the time of her pregnancies. This is the thinnest I think we’ve ever seen her. I think its sad because clearly something is going on and you have to wonder if anyone is letting her get help.
If they discouraged Meghan from getting help for her suicidal ideations and didn’t give a fig about Diana’s eating disorder, I can’t imagine there is any way the Firm is getting help for Kate. It’s really, really sad.

My mother had a pair of shoes like that. They were plain pumps and came with different embellishments you could clip on the front – I didn’t know they still made shoes like that.

I finally concluded that the drop waist needed to go and the dress needed to continue without that gathered skirt. It could have flared a bit instead. And raise that hemline. Is this a case of her outside is reflecting her state of mind? Or?
I think the gap at the bust line was deliberate to make you think that the dress is a little tight. “See, I’m not too thin!” And the plaid should have matched at the placket–someone said that above and so I took another look. For a dress that cost this much, I find this rather astonishing.

This. The skin-tight tailoring is unflattering, and it must be almost impossible to sit down in this dress (also true of the coat she wore to the National Portrait Gallery). It’s a bit like body-conscious dressing (hi Meg!), but make it stiff and matronly.

I think it’s quite opposite, designers are covering their eyes when Kate choses their design and then „customizes” it. She is tall and thin and has a body that usually looks great in most modern designs. Still she manages to look bad and choose clothes that are intended for completely different bodies.

For a minute there I thought I missed summer and fall and we were at Christmas and this was a holiday visit.
This dress just highlights how incredibly skinny she is. This is not a good look.
Yo. that’s one ugly dress.
This is awful. As others have said, it just emphasized how painfully skinny she is, just like at Prince Phil’s funeral, those long skinny coats/dresses with buttons up the front. The other day some site was showing pictures of them in college and she looked slim but healthy. She is drifting into “no human is naturally that skinny” territory now. Also, it looks like a dress I had in 7th grade in the 80s, and that’s not a good thing.
I suspect that she may have had a tummy tuck post babies – again, entirely up to her as her body her choice but if you google pics of her in a bikini you will find ones pre marriage on a yacht with William in a white bikini looking absolutely stunning and then ones later with him in a black bikini where there is not an ounce of fat on her torso. And I don’t mean muscly and fit like Pippa’s but abnormally sculpted. I’ve only ever seen that effect on celebs with tummy tucks.
It’s more than just that because if you look at her clavicles they are popping out because she is just that thin all over.
She desperately needs a stylist or needs to fire the one that she has.
Where do all of her clothes go? Do they go in a closet, cataloged, and never to be seen again? She has so many pieces that are nice, why choose this???
Maybe to a museum of awful fashion that we don’t know about.
I don’t know how she and her stylists did it, but they managed to find a hideously unflattering dress that simultaneously covers her up AND highlights her disappearing figure. All I’ll say on that last part is that no one around her seems to care and history is definitely repeating itself in one way or another…

I actually really like the dress but then again I love that pattern. What I dislike terribly about the dress is the horrible drop waist and the shoes she used to style it. I keep thinking some what-ifs: what if it was a blouse and she wore it with a black knee-length tutu, what if it was a blouse with a different collar and worn with flare pants (because she really can rock that look), what if as a dress it wasn’t a drop waistline? So many possibilities for this to look nicer. Even though I mildly like the dress, I wouldn’t say she’s redefining daytime fashion though.
I think it was a regular dress that she had remade with a way too long and tight drop waist.
Oooo Lizzie, now I bet that was a cute dress. With a natural waistline, slightly shorter hem, and fewer buttons this would be a cute retro style.
I really like the pattern too, I love houndstooth, but i wouldn’t wear it in May.

This dress feels both fussy and unflattering, and I am predisposed to love plaid!
You know who is serving it, though? The guy escorting her around the museum! Well cut suit, coordinated but not matchy tie, adult-sized mask in a cool pattern…way to go, V and A guy!
I’m mentally editing this so that it’s a tailored suit instead of a sad dress – keep the strong shoulders and the buttons, make the lapels sharp instead of round and floppy, and pair it with cropped trousers or a cute pencil skirt and a matching plaid mask!
Money is just wasted on the rich.

I had a dress similar to this . . . IN 1987!!! I bought it at Talbot’s on sale and it looked better than this.

No, she’s with an attractive young guy who is giving her all the attention in these shots it seems, so she’s just being Kate here. With a woman, she would probably be fighting to pay attention, bobble her head, and appear intelligent. The shots would be very different.
I love the dress’s pattern. It’s quirky and fun. But Kate always chooses the MOST tragic silhouettes. I don’t get it.
Can you imagine not being comfortable around your own husband? That’s a straight-up red flag move and I would pity her if she wasn’t a blatantly racist mean girl.
That has always stood out to me that even after 20 years together, Kate is too often uncomfortable around William. She seems to have only recently stopped looking for his approval and I wonder how much of that is due to it possibly being true that their marriage is effectively over and they live separately.
She always acts less tense at engagements on her own. That seems to me a red flag that her own husband makes her feel tense, but they are going to ignore all issues unless they can’t avoid it.

to think they do — I have no doubt she does both (same) but not at the rate y’all insist she’s had it done. Botox is months between and filler much longer .
Cherie, I don’t hate her either. I’ve concluded that she has the life she wants. I do think someone needs to find out if she has an ED, because if she does that puts a lot of stress on the body. That she chooses a dress like this after being in the brf for 10 years is asking for ridicule in my opinion. How can she be this bad at choosing a dress?

Dreadful outfit, absolutely dreadful. Everything about it is wrong. Why wouldn’t she have worn a simple, elegant pantsuit of some kind? It only exaggerates her already painful thinness — it’s almost as if she wants to attract attention to how thin she’s become.

wow what a clash of styles, not a fan at all. I’m not against Kate wearing a drop waist in theory- I think rail thin people like her have the non-figure to make them work- but this particular design really isn’t working. And It sort of feels like she took something that was literally designed in the 1980s, not a retro influenced modern look, but something literally as old as she is, and she didn’t bother styling herself to go along with it. idk, maybe I’d like it better if her hair was styled differently.

Botox and fillers keep the face looking full along with the hair length (wiglets to hide thinning hair), but she can’t do much about how thin she is. She is so much thinner than she was at the time of her engagement.

TBH the only look I really liked on her was when she wore outfits by Pakistani designers on their tour of Pakistan – those sort of long line tops with slim trousers worked well on her frame, I thought.

That dress is so fug, the shoes are fug, and proportions are terrible. Makes her look like a super long torso, short legs, and linebacker shoulders. The pattern is very Christmas, not exactly a late spring look. The thing is this is more her real style and what she looks comfortable in, more than the more modern suits and trousers. Anyway, not a good look.

This reminds me of a Laura Ashley dress I bought in about 1986. I loved it when I bought it but hardly wore it because it was so unflattering on me. Plus, that was 35 years ago and it’s not a style that has gotten better with age…
If Rose Hanbury is indeed the royal mistress then Kate needs to be as slender as her rival if not thinner. William likes this body type. I think she is just trying hard to keep her man. Without him she goes back to being a nobody.

I hate what the coats and dresses she wears do to her figure. They make her torso seem unnaturally long. We all wear things that don’t flatter our bodies, but for most of us it’s because we don’t have access to designers and seamstresses who will fit things properly. I don’t understand how someone can look at that dress on her and think it flatters her. It doesn’t.
Above the (natural) waist this is cute (puffy shoulders and big collars are on trend) but the whole silhouette is so wrong on Kate. Trinny Woodall talks a lot about this body type as she, too, is long waisted. Trinny would never be caught dead in such a dress. Kate: Please watch Trinny’s many, many videos on dressing!
I’m not as critical as many here are about Kate’s style as I tend to dress quite conservatively as well. I’m not a fan of the sleeves but I’m fine with the print, etc. (I think the print would be cute as a suit/peplum jacket.) To me the biggest problem with this dress is that it’s 1000% not suited to her body type. It’s sooooo unflattering! And secondly, it’s too tight.
Exactly too tight, which is terrible given how thin she is.
Her make up looks good today, and the lighting is doing her a world of favours.
But, setting aside even the ugliness of that dress for a moment, what’s really not helping her at all is the fact that she’s really fucking thin here, and it shows. Like, that makes the whole dress look so much worse; it overwhelms her frame even more, and it highlights all the busy shit that’s been stuck onto it.
This dress is a continuation of her cosplay. It totally is out of season, but also see the video they just posted on IG/Twitter of the event. It’s all Alice in Wonderland themed and Waity is so vapid she thought she should dress as the Red Queen. Literally identical to the cartoon Red Queen outfit. She’s so desperate.

I know vintage is in style, and that dress is a combo of vintage 80s and vintage 90s, but in the worst way. The collar, the slightly puffed sleeves, the dropped waist. It’s fine if you’re a young hipster and you’re upcycling something from a thrift shop and just trying to be fun, but that is not what is happening here. She thinks this is elegant and attractive and flattering.
I do like plaid, but not a full-on plaid dress like this, with long sleeves and long skirt and big collar. It looks like what I might have worn to a Christmas party in the 80s, which makes it not only dated but age inappropriate. It looks like a Lanz nightgown or something. It might as well be flannel. Or taffeta.

This dress is proof that she has no real friends and her stylist hates her. She’s tall and thin, which usually means she can wear most designer outfits and look great most of the time. And yet, with all the money and resources in the world, she consistently goes out looking like this. And no one within her circle was honest enough to say a word to her about how bad the dress looked on her. For such a tall woman, the dress manages to make her look like she has short, stumpie legs. How is it that no one cared enough to point that out to her?
Anyway, does anyone else think that the dude in the blue suit standing next to her looks like a younger 20 something Harry? I did a double take thinking it was an old picture of a dress she wore on an engagement with Harry.

I think she looks really good (face and hair). Yes she’s unusually thin and she’s not trying to trick the camera into looking like she’s curvy. Women are people who come in all shapes and sizes. Not just objects who must conform to societies current standards of objectification.

Hate this look…it’s not flattering g at all. I would prefer one of her pretty pastel coat dresses even if they’re boring (Spring like colors, no wrinkles and very flattering to her figure). She’s worn a ton of them to Christenings and Trooping the Color and they look nice. This is just bad. WHO is advising/dressing her?!!! I agree they should be fired!
