Last week, Sophie Turner was one of the many celebrities who posted in honor of Pride month. Sophie posted a very enthusiastic series of pro LGBTQ stickers to her IG stories that let their sentiments speak for themselves:
According to Yahoo News, Sophie’s post was met with overwhelming excitement.
Sophie Turner literally said “Bi Pride!”
On June 2, the Game of Thrones star posted to her Instagram Stories in celebration of Pride Month and the LGBTQ+ community. “It’s mothafuckin #pride month babaaaayyyyyy,” the post reads. It also featured multiple Pride stickers including “Bi Pride,” “Gay Pride,” “Move, I’m gay,” and my personal favorite, “Time isn’t straight and neither am I.”
Many fans were excited to see what they believe to be Turner’s coming-out moment. “Did sophie turner just come out via unhinged Instagram story,” one user asked. “Queen.”
“SOPHIE TURNER CONFIRMED BI??? HAPPY PRIDE I LOVE IT,” another user tweeted, while a similarly stoked account wrote, “SOPHIE TURNER SAID I RESPECT THE STRAIGHT COMMUNITY BUT IT AINT ME.”
Still, that doesn’t mean fans can’t be jealous!
“You’re telling me Sophie Turner is bi and she married Joe Jonas instead of me??????” that user wrote.
I love the overall upbeat vibe of both Sophie’s post and the reaction to it. It feels very Sophie. I dig the way she presents herself and her life to the world because it’s always on her terms and she makes it seem effortless. Sophie’s been married to Joe Jonas for two years, they have daughter Willa, who will turn one in July. I remember we were all a little stunned when she and Joe started dating and slowly came around to them being a couple. They really are good together. I never would have paired them, but they seem to truly bring out the best in each other and I’m so pleased to see it.
Another big announcement Sophie made recently is this:
She’s gone red! Sansa Stark has returned. Actually that’s much darker than Sansa’s hair, wasn’t it? I can’t remember. (Okay, I hardly watched the show). But I love the color. And Sophie, who is a blonde by birth, has the coloring to carry red, so this will be fun for her. She was just cast in The Staircase, so I don’t know if this for the role or just something fun for the summer but I’m here for it.

Good for her!!
It’s crazy how hard it has been to be bi, people really think that they can disrespect that or say it’s a “phase” to women, or act like bi women can’t possibly be monogamous etc etc. I have been married a long time and with men a long time, but my years before that made it clear I am definitely not 100% straight! I just settled down with a man but that doesn’t mean I am not attracted to women or that I didn’t have my time with women. People should be open about who they are and know that they can still be monogamous and respected!
+1000. Plus, it’s still acceptable for people on both sides to blame homophobia and even violent hate crimes on non-hetero women doing the same things straight people do publicly and not staying in the closet. Complaining about the behavior comes with the risk of being silenced and abuse for other non-hetero women observing it too.
There’s a lot of selective support- people cherrypicking which parts of the ‘ABC mafia’ they have to be respectful about. (See also: terfs)
I once began to make a passing mention of my being bi in a conversation with an acquaintance and before I could even say it, he was like “every girl I’ve been with told me she was bi”. I just stopped mid-sentence and said something else. I was not about to argue and detail how I’ve had actual crushes on girls and it was not just “being curious” or making out for fun or “experimenting”, which seems to be a thing. Plus, maybe, just maybe, “all the girls” he’s been with were actually bi. It’s not like he’s been with so many (I assume) that it would make it statistically unlikely for them all to be bi. Literally nobody believes me when I say I’m bi. People are convinced I’m straight and there’s no doing anything about it. The only people who’ve believed I were bi was a girl I kind of sort of began dating and her ex who (shockingly) pretty much supported her and was nice to me too.
Absolutely! My sister-in-law (Hubby’s sister) is bi. She dated boys/men all through high school & college. She got to grad school and met the most wonderful woman. They have been together for almost 30 years (they got married as soon as it was legal) and have two teenage sons.
It took Hubby’s parents a long time to accept the fact that their daughter was Bi and in a relationship with a woman. For years, they thought that their daughter was eventually going to go back to a relationship with a man. They finally came to really understand that wasn’t going to happen when their first child was born.
We all know way more ostensibly “straight” bi people than we realize. I’m a bi woman who has been married to a man for nearly a decade. It’s a numbers game, right? Bi people have a much larger pool of potential partners of the opposite sex than of the same.
Yes, plus it’s the conditioning and how we’ve been raised.
I love Sophie, and I love her as a redhead. It IS surprising that she and Joe Jonas work, but they do seem happy, so good for them!
I discovered during the pandemic that I’m also bisexual. I had internalized homophobia that prevented me from seeing it earlier. And even though I’m married to a man, I am also attracted to women! Happy pride everyone!!!
So happy for you! Welcome to the family 🙂
Good for her and she got the hotter Jonas brother. They seem like down to earth people.
Thou I didn’t realise he was involved with Taylor Swift. What went down there?
They dated like 12 years ago? She was really young and she made a song where she revealed he dumped via phone, in less than 1 minute. I think she admitted it was dumb last year! But I think it’s all good now, really old story
The Queen of the North looks amazing with red hair. Suits her even better than the blonde imo. Strangely enough, she and the Jonas guy make sense together. I do agree that they bring out the best in each other cause I found him to be really likable since they’ve been together.
I think Sophie has been out as not-straight for several years. But a fellow bi woman, I’m always happy to see bi pride and representation in Hollywood!
This.
I read through the post and the comments above in a kind of confused contemplation because I KNEW for a fact that this is something I already knew. Redheads have to stick together, after all, even if hers came from a bottle.
Sansa was a natural redhead, so that counts, right?
