Interview Magazine did a piece with Christopher Meloni and it’s one big thirst-trap. I love it! I love that a 60-year-old man best known for playing an angry cop on episodic network television is still the focus of so much heat. It helps that Meloni has always handled his fame lightly, and he finds the public’s thirst for his thiccness pretty funny. Anyway, it’s worth going to Interview just to see the photos of Meloni because holy sh-t is he a hot piece. Some highlights from the interview:
His famous butt: “This is what has happened. I’ve been blessed with glutes that have an attractive shape. But I have a trainer, and we’re going through bodybuilding phases, and where everyone kind of caught me was that I’d been preparing for one year in a very high-intensity weight training program that actually focused on legs. So I guess you could argue that the glute-peeping public are now reaping the benefits of all that hard work.”
He’s kind of gluten free: “I’m semi gluten free. I think that falls under the category of vegan, which I’m dipping my toes into. I’m unafraid to expand the horizons and see how it makes me feel. I actually had a gluten-free pasta just the other night that shocked and pleased me. It’s a close cousin to the Beyond Meat–type stuff, and I’m a big fan of those as a change of pace.”
Shipping: “Meaning that if you’re an Elliot and Olivia shipper, you’re thirsting to see their relationship be consummated? That’s like asking me to try to stop the northbound train by lying down on the track. That’s a third-rail question.”
He was a high-school quarterback: “It was awesome being one. You’re basically number one on the call sheet. The younger kids were in awe of you, but I’m not designed to buy into the hype. I just wanted to win, which we did. The fact that we were undefeated was the true goal.”
He’s not into celebrity trainers: “I’m not against them, but it just doesn’t fit with who I am. I like things in my life a little low-key, especially if it’s less expensive.”
His time on Celebrity Jeopardy: “I did it twice. One time it was a Law & Order–themed thing, and [the actors] Katie Erbe and Sam Waterston thought I was playing possum because I was horrible in the warmup round. And then when it was time to really play and Alex Trebek came out, I kicked their ass. It felt good.”
On cops: “I don’t want to get too heavy, but my relationship with cops is great, and there’s no higher compliment than when a cop comes up to me and gives me props.”
On being called a “zaddy”: “I’ve been called that a lot, and who am I to argue with it? Sure, I’m a zaddy.”
He is a zaddy and he owns that! As for the thing about cops… yeah, even Ice-T has said similar things, that he went from “Cop Killer” to cops stopping him in the streets of New York to tell him how much they love him on Law & Order: SVU. Cops really like copaganda, as it turns out, and cops love actors who play them on cop shows. As for his famous ass… like, Meloni has always been known for his body (among other things). The kids don’t know about Oz and all of that. But basically, everyone from the early 1990s until now has known that Meloni has a great body and a great ass.
SVU is filming in park slope this week and someone in the neighborhood facebook group posted this photo of chris meloni

Fun stuff. I saw him filming once in NYC and he’s very handsome in person. Can’t say I noticed the butt but I’m not a butt gal.
And totally nailed it @Kaiser — “Cops really like copaganda”. SMH.
Love him!!! Something about him that is so sexy!!!
Swagger without arrogance. Love him too.
: )
I love that Stabler ass and I’m so glad he’s back on my tv, lol.
See, Dax, this is what you get when you DON’T skip leg day.
We’ll, I don’t think he understands what a vegan diet is. Gluten-free has nothing to do with being vegan 😆 . But I appreciate his willingness to try and feel his best.
And to those who say that men don’t talk about their restrictive diets in the Jen Aniston post yesterday, I give you exhibit A. Also, if we read GQ and Men’s Health I am pretty sure there is lots of itw with men talking about what they eat and don’t eat. Whether we want it or not our feminine problems are also shifting, slowly, towards men.
It’s hard to tell from this excerpt, but it didn’t sound like disordered eating to me. It sounds more like he’s trying different foods to see what works best for him and his body. Especially as we age, making dietary adjustments does become necessary. Being mindful about the kinds of food we eat and trying different types of nutritional diets is a healthy thing to do.
Hi @ClaireB I was not one of those people who thought that Jen Aniston suffers from disordered eating. I imagine – one can never know for sure – that she eats healthily. I was a bit surprised, actually, with people saying that one is not healthy if one is capable of eating only one bit of a candy or a crisp. It’s not that simple! It is if she has anorexia or orthorexia, but we can’t diagnose that from an interview.
My point is that eating healthy and restricting – in the sense of not eating crap – is now also a male priority for actors too, and not just for some women, once you fall into the “desirable” category as a young TV / cinema professional. You tend to want to maintain that. It seems that for Meloni that led him to be healthy, which sounds great to me.
Personally I am vegan and mostly oil-free (I read some interesting articles about that) so I would fall under the category of the worrisome eaters only I am by no means disordered in my eating, I am just middle-aged and noticing the good it does for my digestive system and skin to eat in a certain way. Not to mention PMS.
Yeah, I was struck by the fact that he sounded like an actress here. If a 60 year old actress was giving the same interview, she’d probably be described as shallow. (I don’t think he is and I don’t think an actress giving the same interview is — but for some reason he seems to be given a pass here even though men of his age are generally perceived to be focused on other things).
He was talking about trying out different options to see what felt best for his body. That’s the key difference, I think. He wasn’t trying to demonize any particular food, which the diet industry and celebs do waaaay too much of. And there was no proselytizing about the benefits of any one thing or the downside of any one thing. I actually liked the emphasis on being aware of how food made his body feel. I have found that as I age, there’s a lot that I just can’t eat anymore because it hurts my stomach or makes me feel like crap. But every body is different.
He showed a lot more than just his ass on Oz.
I have seen him on stage, outside of all the cop procedural shows, the guy can act.
And that is quite the butt.
Yes, he sure did. And I was there for it. Every time.
He is really hot. But could someone please tell me what a zaddy is?
I had to google “what is a zaddy?” And now I feel super old.
“A zaddy is a stylish, charming, and confident man who others find attractive. Most men labeled as zaddies also tend to be older and financially well-off. In short, a zaddy is one part silver fox and one part sugar daddy.”
I had to google it as well!
I had to google it too LOL
I was gonna google, but I came to the comments first. lol
Word of the day is zaddy. I learn so much here!
There’s a photo of him doing the rounds where he’s basically doing a 180 degree side split… I was so impressed!!
He’s a definite hottie. Those photos crack me up.
Did anyone else see his episode of Finding Your Roots, also featuring Tony Shalhoub? Fun, powerful, heartbreaking, but Meloni in the ending scene is priceless.
It was an intense episode. At one point Meloni was in tears.
I just watched a Lifetime movie from 1991 that he was in. He looks the exact same, same body, a lot more hair, still very attractive. He’s always been awesome. Also, I had to google zaddy.
I am similarly dipping my toes into veganism. Anyone here vegan? Have any go to cookbooks or blogs you like?
👋🏼 I am. But I’m in the UK so for products I may not be able to help.
One of the things that I noticed with veganism is that the cooking mindset changes completely between main food and secondary. For meat and fish eaters, meat is the central food on the plate and the rest are sides. The sides will become your main. A cauliflower or an aubergine can become your central food.
Also, seasoning is really important like yeast flakes, lots of puréed cashews or sunflower seeds in your curries etc.
I like the website simple-veganista.com for ideas.
Not vegan now, but I was for a bit. The Veganomicon by Isa Moskowitz & Terry Romero is very good.
Look up the Korean Vegan on Twitter. She just came out with a book. She makes these beautifully produced vignettes that seem impossible, but it’s actually not too difficult, if you can find Korean ingredients. She also talks about her family and parents and tells stories. She’s great, very progressive and informed (she’s also a lawyer). I’m not fully vegan, but she “veganizes” things. I like her a lot.
I like the Oh She Glows blog and books, esp for desserts, but she hasn’t posted since October. The recipes and posts are all still up on her site.
Love and Lemons, and Cookie + Kate are a couple of blogs with good recipes.
My advice is to take it slow and be gentle with yourself. My veganism took hold over about 5 years—including the two years it took to wean myself from cheese! (This is easier now, because vegan “cheese” has improved quite a bit, but I still don’t eat much of it, just an occasional pizza.)
Yes, Oh She Glows has great recipes. Congratulations on your decision! Good luck!
Congrats, the best decision! One of my fave blogs/Instagram is The Minimalist Baker (name is a bit misleading – tons of other stuff besides baking!) and on Instagram I love healthylivingjames.
There are so many amazing vegan cookbooks, blogs & recipes, you won’t be missing out. I’m still surprised that I can make a plant based version of anything I can think of and usually I like the pb version more, because the taste is much more fresh.
My best advice is to stay away from processed vegan food and learn to cook with whole foods from the start – sometimes vegan options are even more processed and full of crappy ingredients than meat/dairy options.
I met him humping a fridge in Wet Hot American Summer and my love has only grown

he was HILARIOUS in that, such a switch from Elliot Stabler. Dude’s got range!
I remember reading that Scrubs tried to coax him away from SVU because he is so effortlessly hilarious
So he’s gluten-free but definitely not glute-free. Sorry, I couldn’t resist.
Speaking of Oz, Meloni is one half of the sexiest kiss I’ve ever seen in either movies or TV.
Beecher and Keller, be still my heart. THAT kiss is still so hot. Their relationship was the definition of dysfunctional.
(I couldn’t find except in a music video). Oz fandom, I miss you.

This is one of the few headlines that made me smile. He cracks me up just going about being himself. Hot
Damn, DAT ASS!!!
Chris Meloni – National Treasure, King of Snark on Twitter, – and possibly King of the Chrises?
Regarding gluten free pasta, chickpea pasta is the best! Unfortunately for me as an almost dairy free person, the way I like it best is simmered in a mascarpone sauce. I’ve been a vegetarian for decades and been toying with veganism, but find I look and feel better with a few eggs here and there. I always regret dairy products after though. Oh! And good for Chris!
