Was Duchess Meghan ‘mocking the Queen’ by drinking tea in her video?

meghan mentor84

The Dusty Saltines cannot get over the fact that the Duchess of Sussex is free, happy, rich and successful. The royal commentators have been workshopping various criticisms of Meghan’s birthday video and they can’t decide which one is the “real reason” why Meghan’s video is bad. We’ve heard that the video was too sugary, too on-brand, too glossy. We’ve heard that the actual mentorship project is awful, because reasons. We’ve heard that Meghan is awful because she dares to have a stone fireplace and a husband who juggles outside of her office window. But did you know that Meghan was also mocking the QUEEN in her birthday video? It’s true, according to Angela Levin:

If I’m being honest, I do think Melissa’s get-up was meant to mock. Not specifically mockery of the Queen, but the British establishment, the hat-wearing, tea-drinking, gatekeeping a–holes who looked down their noses at Meghan. Melissa was mocking the Angela Levins, the Camilla Tomineys, the Ingrid Sewards. They know it too, which is why they’re trying to make it into “Meghan was mocking the QUEEN!”

As for the tea thing… I think Meghan just enjoys a cup of tea. Was it mockery or was she just… drinking tea? Anyway, it’s certainly curious how many different arguments these people have tried to make for why the video and the project are bad!

Was Duchess Meghan ‘mocking the Queen’ by speaking English in her video?! LOL

  2. Scorpion says:

    1. Who’s is Melissa McCartney?
    2. Isn’t it time for Angela Levin to be carted off to the local asylum.?
    3. I drink tea every morning, I must be mocking the Queen too 🤭🙄

    • Nancy says:

      1. Melissa “McCartney” lol.
      2. Yes. ( way past time) and she needs to take that old hag Seward with her.
      3. May I join you in your mockery of the Queen and enjoyment of a good cup of tea?

    • Agirlandherdog says:

Yes, I was enjoying my morning tea until I learned you must be a member of the British aristocracy to enjoy a cup of tea. I loathe coffee, so I’m not really sure what I’m supposed to do now…

    • swirlmamad says:

This bitter hag thought she was slick trying to clumsily shade Melissa MCCARTHY. I am quite sure Melissa would be like Angela WHO????

And apparently only the Queen can enjoy tea, now. Bitches, please.

    • BayTampaBay says:

“Melissa was mocking the Angela Levins, the Camilla Tomineys, the Ingrid Sewards” and all other British A-holes

      THIS 100%!

      • North of Boston says:

And “but the Queen!” is their go to attack when there is no substantive criticism.

One of the reasons why the Sussexes were very clear that they have a warm relationship with her, I suspect.

    • MMadison says:

Having my cup of tea as well….sorry Queenie but I love a good cup of tea! (wonder if it’s ok to eat saltines while drinking tea?)

    • Mac says:

      Levin must hate Hyacinth Bucket.

    • Agreatreckoning says:

      @Scorpion—hahaha

      1. Who’s is Melissa McCartney?

I don’t know much about her except she and Stella McCarthy might have a friend in common.
      (@_@)

      • Wiglet Watcher says:

She’s sookie from Gilmore girls for forever, but she’s also an in demand and well respected actor, writer, comedian etc…
she’s well connected so having her on board only helps.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

I am familiar with Melissa McCarthy not Melissa McCartney. It was a bad joke on my part using Melissa’s correct last name as Stella’s. Melissa has been my favorite part in a number of projects she’s been in. Given her frienship with Meghan, I’m finding it a little entertaining now that Melissa followed up the Gilmore Girls series with the Samantha Who? series. Thank you though in case I really didn’t know anything about her.

  3. Becks1 says:

It was definitely mockery/trolling but not of the Queen. They were mocking the whole british establishment, everyone who ran Meghan out of the country bc they could not handle a Black duchess. So yes, Angela Levin, they were mocking you.

The fact though they are saying “omg she was mocking the queen!” tells me all the other criticisms were falling flat, so they had to resort to the last one in their toolbox – the Queen is being insulted!!!!!! Off with her head!!!!!

Or their creepy over-identification with the monarchy. No life of her own I guess.

    • sunny says:

It is really wild watching the British press respond to her. It has been YEARS now and they are still as unhinged and desperate. Every time I see something like this, I think of that Michael Jordan Gif, “Stop it. Get Some Help”.

The royal press are so sick and pathetic.

    • Ginger says:

And yet these same reporters haven’t said much about Gary’s show where the Queen is shooting people and cussing constantly. But, Meghan drinks tea, oh no! How dare she!

    • swirlmamad says:

Meanwhile, the Queen is probably delighted to see “dear Meghan” in her weekly video chats with Archie and Lili, behind her locked bedroom door that the courtiers can’t get into.

      • BothSidesNow says:

Yes!!! I think that TQ actually likes Meghan, as a person and as Harry’s wife. Meghan had proven to her that she was invested and was taking her role as part of The Firm seriously. Meghan was an outstanding representative of the Monarchy and TQ knows that. Had she not thought highly of Meghan, she would not have taken the train tour with her so quickly once she was in the picture. I think that TQ respects Meghan and unfortunately she completely missed an opportunity to stand up to everyone in support of Meghan publicly and privately, taking into account her own belief of never explain, never complain. Which apparently the rest of the royal family never heed to.

In regards to these awful supposed royal reporters and official sources of all things royal, they will always find fault with anything that Meghan does. They will label every action that Meghan makes as mocking the Queen, because they only have that ammunition to maintain deep hatred for Meghan, if TQ is the sole intended target.

Honestly people who wear fascinators and want to be taken seriously deserved to be mocked. Why do the English still act like they don’t look absolutely foolish with these tiny hats that don’t fit their head. The Queen herself has moved to solid hat wear, but all the fascinators are just dumb and make women look like badly crafted art projects.

Fascinators are whimsical. The English do whimsy like no other nationality except maybe the Japanese.

      • Nic919 says:

Fascinators are worn by the elite English aristos who wouldn’t understand whimsy if it smacked them in the face. Only the foolishly rich could afford to purchase something so expensive that is so entirely useless as a piece of clothing. Conspicuous consumption is always to be mocked.

  5. Snuffles says:

I should have added “mocking the Queen” to my bullshit bingo card.

  6. Miranda says:

DRINKING TEA WAS THE SECOND-TO-LAST THING THE QUEEN HAD THAT WAS TRULY HER OWN.

  7. Over it says:

Well sitting around in those ridiculous hats and looking down their noses while drinking tea in tiny cups with their little fingers sticking up does deserve to be mocked. The upper crust are uptight asshats and I think it’s hilarious that Melissa was doing it.
I don’t believe for one second that Meghan was mocking the queen, but I do think she was telling the snobby brits who never welcomed her to F off , I can buy and drink tea anytime I want from right here in Cali and I don’t need any of you.

  8. Over it says:

That parasite Angela needs a straight jacket.

    • Britt says:

She is truly off her rocker and so are a lot of these haters. You got Australian tv hosts literally looking stupid. Journalists writing open letters like they’re important and Piers Morgan losing his job and looking like a stalker. Harry and Meghan seem to really bring out the crazy in people by just living their lives and it’s probably some of the weirdest stuff I’ve ever seen. Y’all ripped this couple to pieces, they left and did everything they said they were going to do but know you’re upset that you believed their living out their lives and are happy.

    • Millenial says:

Angela’s most recent retweet is something about migrants crossing the channel…. which tells me a lot. It’s like most of the Rota Rats are just D-list Piers Morgans and Tucker Carlsons so it’s no wonder they had a problem with Meghan.

(Imagine coming from the country that practically invented imperialism and getting mad when the consequences of imperialism come back to bite you in the butt).

    • Zapp Brannigan says:

It’s what Prince Philip would have wanted 😢

    • Agreatreckoning says:

      @Over it–I won’t argue with that comment.

  9. Amy Bee says:

Hit dog will holler. The British establishment think that Americans revere them but Melissa showed what some people really think of them. On Australian TV, they complained that Meghan was too smiley and that they didn’t get to see Lili. These people are upset that Meghan is living her life on her own terms, that in itself is an affront to the Royal Family and that Harry left and is happy outside of the UK is seen as a slap in the face. Plus, it’s the height of arrogance for the British press to be offended that Meghan was drinking tea. Tea is not British.

    • Snuffles says:

I used to consider myself a bit of an Anglophile but I don’t anymore. I see everything through a different lense now. It’s more…fascinated by how antiquated and eccentric the aristocratic/royal set is rather than admirable and aspirational. They’re not better, they just have their own unique culture that I can take or leave.

Just to be clear I don’t apply this to all the English. I still think you guys have a banging entertainment industry (film, television, music and theater).

      • Killfanora says:

@ Snuffles….to be absolutely clear, the vast majority of Brits look at the antics of the aristocracy/royal set with vague contempt. These people may feel superior but trust me, most aristos are poverty stricken and have to open out their houses and estates to the public to keep from losing it all. As for the back-stabbing, treacherous and two-faced royals, well who would want a family like that?

      • Bettyrose says:

Snuffles your comment was like looking in a mirror. I’m still going to read Jane Eyre for the zillionth time while crooning to Bowie and kicking around in my Doc Martens, though.

      • booboocita says:

I’ve always wanted to visit literary England. I’d bypass Buckingham Palace, Parliament, and Piccadilly Square, and go straight to the Lake Country to see where Beatrix Potter wrote. Then I’d go to Hawath and visit the parsonage where the Bronte sisters lived and wrote, and Jane Eyre and Heathcliff were born. I’d go to Lyme and see the seawall where Wentworth and Anne walked with the Musgroves and Cape Benwick, and maybe to Bath to see where the smart set took the water. I’d also want to visit Harrod’s, but that’s another matter. Point is, there’s a whole slice of England that doesn’t involve the royals, or involves them only tangentially. That’s the England I love and want to see someday …

      • bettyrose says:

        Booboocita –
Same! I’ve been to a few of those places, including hiking in Exmoor, but I do need to get to Yorkshire for a true Jane Eyre experience. But there’s another side of England I’m completely obsessed with: the Manchester/London 80s music scene. I did a Morissey tour of Manchester and Sheffield once. (Don’t judge. I do really like Morissey’s music, but what I wanted to see what the Manchester of Joy Division/New Order. That tour wasn’t available, so I took the Morrissey tour and still got to see things like the location of the club where the sex pistols played the night the Smiths and Joy Division were born). And I’ve done the Bowie tour of Brixton, London.

      • bettyrose says:

        #Salford (not Sheffield)

    • Britt says:

Those Aussie tv shows are so weird. I get the feeling that they also asked for access in some way and the Sussexes refused. They made themselves look so incredibly stupid in that clip. Y’all are that mad over someone smiling and thriving. Then some woman is like I can’t be nice to Meghan because she was mean to the Queen and monarchy as if it somehow affected her or that Meghan would be so heartbroken. They’re just as crazy as the BM.

      • Cessily says:

It actually should be, “Some unknown source close to the Royal Family said she was mean __________________. So I was told to never like her.” I would call her childish but truthfully children behave much better.

    • Over it says:

What Australian thing are you all talking about? I am nit surprised about Australian media when it comes to Meghan and Harry, they are always gunning for her. Sad bunch of rejects

      • Britt says:

Two idiots on an Aussie news channel were literally finding ways to be nasty and it failed and they came off looking stupid. They attacked her for smiling too much, the way she talks and wondering where Lilli was. That same channel had Katie Hopkins on that show bashing her and one of the hosts interviewed Piers and Katie about Meghan on 60 minutes. I just realized that Rupert Murdoch owns a majority of these shows and that why they’re negative. Harry and Meghan aren’t bending to him and his media empire like the rest of the Windsors.

      • Over it says:

Thanks Britt. These fools need air, sad that they need Meghan to come up.

    • aftershocks says:

“On Australian TV, they complained that Meghan was too smiley and that they didn’t get to see Lili.”

At this rate, they’ll never ‘get to see Lili’! Nor do they deserve to! None of Murdock crew nor carnival dunces will ever catch a clue. Their nasty attacks only continue to elevate the Sussexes.

M&H are free, moving on, living their lives and thriving. People want to know them, work with them, support them, and donate to their charities and humanitarian projects!

  11. Solidgolddancer says:

Meghan is a Duchess. Melissa was playing to that. People are reading way too much into this and missing the entire point: acts of service!

    • Amy Too says:

It’s very much like how regular american people get all dressed up in hats and gloves and drink tea out of pretty teacups while watching a royal wedding. It’s fun/funny. It’s theme dressing. And if theme dressing is something they now want to considered highly offensive, they’re going to have some trouble covering Kate basically all the time, now. All that woman does is theme dress.

      • Snuffles says:

        @amytoo

I agree. It’s what us Americans think of when we think of posh Brits. High tea and fancy hats. It was either that or Shakespearean costumes. It’s like Brits thinking cowboy hats and boots when they think if Americans.

      • Becks1 says:

I wish we could share pictures here because for Meghan’s wedding, my then 6 year old woke up at 530 am (he always wakes up early, this was one time we let him leave his room lol) and he came to watch the wedding with me and the only had I had was my big straw hat for the beach so he wore that while we ate frozen scones from the grocery store and I drank coffee from my Royal Doulton cup (English Renaissance pattern which is all over the Crown and Iron Lady etc.) he was pretty stinking cute but that was all we had for a fancy hat.

okay fine I was having a mimosa. I was on UK time. but still in the RD cup!

i guess that was just all being super disrespectful to the queen. Sorry Maj!

      • Sarah E says:

Is it theme dressing or cultural appropriation?

      • Solidgolddancer says:

@Amy I agree! Even James Corden had a fancy tea set on the bus with his segment with Harry.

      • L84Tea says:

@Becks1, I didn’t wear a hat, but I made myself a big pot of tea and had a plate of biscuits to watch H&M’s wedding. We all do that stuff here!

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

Amy Too… you have to admit though… as lovely as the teacup/saucer were (and I LOVE that pattern!), the name of it, “ROYAL BLACK PEACOCK” .. it HAD to be chosen to give *some* kind of reason, some personal satisfaction.

Now, for all we know, Meghan could’ve had those cups from her single days, OR, her decorator could’ve found them and thought, “Hmmm… now that’s a kick! And it goes well with the neutrals… or…. YES! Meghan is beautiful, ROYAL, and BLACK, so let’s grab ’em!”

Personally, though… I’m HOPING Meghan or a friend of hers found them, loved the name, and thought, “Yeah… it’s subtle, but WTF, I’m gonna poke the bear! Hehehehe”.

Because I’m petty that way lol 😄

      • L84Tea says:

@TheOG, OMG I didn’t even pick up on that…If that’s what she was doing, that is some world class trolling right there! 😀

      • swirlmamad says:

@TheOG, that is AWESOME. I absolutely think that went into Meghan’s choice of tea cup! The shade, honey…..I am so here for it. Couldn’t love her more!

      • ABritGuest says:

Not necessarily- apparently it was same tea cup set that Harry had in the James Corden appearance & nobody saw hidden messages with that

The royal experts are having a typical meltdown so Meghan’s obviously done a good job with this initiative. We all know if another royal had done similar it would be like the second coming.

The nastiness from the press is probably exacerbated by fact that since Meghan & Harry became an item they have to be nice to the rest of the family (even likely against their wishes) but were free to go to town with Meghan. That’s the point she made about being unprotected.

      • Abby says:

@The OG omg I love the name of that pattern. I actually want to go get one for myself. I would love to drink dainty tea out of it. So beautiful!

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

Abby, I looked for it, as it’d go GREAT in my home (inherited my mom’s amazing Chinese lacquered story screen that’s mounted on my LR wall, and Asian touches w/the contemporary furnishings), and I found it: for one saucer, cup, and biscuit dish, it was $70! Almost $300 for a 4 piece set is a *bit* expensive, so I’ll keep looking to see if I can find it a little cheaper 😉 But damn, it is lovely!

      • bettyrose says:

Sarah E – I can’t tell if that’s a joke? Dressing like a living doily with a matching tea cup is a caricature of stuffy Brits (see also: Hyacinth Bucket) but “stuffy Brit” isn’t a culture; it’s an attitude.

      • SenseOfTheAbsurd says:

Exactly. For Harry and Meghan’s wedding, it was reported that the supermarkets had run out of cucumbers. My mind went straight to the gutter, but it was actually because so many people were dressing up in Fancy British Lady costumes with silly hats and serving tea and cucumber sandwiches.

      • notasugarhere says:

ABritGuest, for all we know they bought it together years ago simply because they liked it. Or it could have been a wedding gift. The original Blue Peacock was released in 1913; the black and white version was released in late 2016/early 2017.

  12. MsIam says:

Who cares what that old crocodile Angela thinks, lol? But I definitely think Melissa was mocking the whole “British upper crust, snooty” thing which imo deserves to be mocked. My these people are thin skinned, first The Crown and now Melissa “McCartney” in a hat! I Why don’t they just get on with it, isn’t that what they told Meghan to do?

    • Eurydice says:

The RF have hides like a rhinoceros; that’s how they’ve managed to stay unchanged all these years.
They hire people to be thin-skinned for them

    • swirlmamad says:

And now I will forever more refer to Angela Levin as the old crocodile. 🤣

  13. Britt says:

Angela Levin needs serious help and prayer. I actually feel really sorry for her because she literally has no life besides obsessing over two individuals that literally don’t care about her. I don’t know what it is about Meghan and Harry that has people literally losing their sanity and jobs but I’m trying to understand the obsession. It has to be more than lack of control and anger. These people are jilted and need restraining orders. Some of these people really act like Harry and Meghan owe them something. It’s truly bizzare.

    • swirlmamad says:

Because the British media legitimately believes they OWN Harry, and have his entire life, and therefore think they have some sort of influence/say over how he lives his life. They feel this way towards the entire RF and only Harry has the balls and bravery to push back against their sick obsession. They are spitting nails that he had the nerve to choose a biracial American commoner woman to love and cherish, rather than one of their own. Nothing like a little racism, classism and xenophobia to bring out the “best” in people. 🙄

  14. OriginalLala says:

I thought the tea bit was pretty cute because it’s 100% what I would do to a friend who is a duchess lol, the dusty saltines are just mad because Meg doesn’t care about them anymore

  15. Abby says:

Didn’t drew Barrymore and her sidekick dress up exactly like this when they interviewed phoebe and rege from Bridgerton? It’s the stereotype we think of. It’s just fun.

I don’t think it’s mocking the Queen. More like being silly about aristocracy. People are looking for anything to be offended about.

  16. Chic says:

It was funny.. people need to move on since they can’t find any humor in anything.

  17. Sofia says:

Drinking tea is limited to the queen? Okay then. And I agree that Melissa was mocking the establishment which yes does include the queen but she wasn’t mocking the queen /specifically/.

    • L84Tea says:

It’s SO arrogant of them to imply drinking tea only applies to them. While I get that tea is one of the UK’s “things”, tea is still drunk everywhere around the world. Hello, China alone!

    • MissMarirose says:

How do we know it was even tea in that cup?

It could just have easily been coffee.

    • North of Boston says:

Now if she made the tea using a microwave to boil the water instead of using a proper kettle THAT would be outrageous! 🙂

But just having tea isn’t an affront.

  18. AVEA says:

I’m surprised they didn’t shit themselves with the tattoo bit. Wouldn’t getting one be a protocol violation? They hate seeing her happy, glowing and rich and it’s hilarious

    • L84Tea says:

The rich part of it is reeeally irking them I think. That entire office space looked like MONEY. That beautiful desk alone oozes wealth. It’s obvious that seeing Meghan have nice things makes them sweat bullets.

      • Britt says:

Meghan and Harry were supposed to come back with their tail between their legs, begging for forgiveness and tow the line or Harry was supposed to leave Meghan. The problem is that Meghan and Harry have a New York Times bestseller, Netflix, Spotify, Emmy nom through Oprah and the support of America. They weren’t supposed to be that successful. Their detractors believed their own hubris. Meghan in that mansion glowing, glossy and obviously rich is a reminder of what’s not going to happen.

      • L4Frimaire says:

Also the style and simplicity of the space is so far from the fussy, chintzy, worn out “ country” style they revere over there. Meghan’s space is clean, neutral and orderly. No worn out rugs and dog hair all over the place. Most people can relate to that, that’s what they aspire too.

    • aftershocks says:

Yep @Avea, Meghan is fecund, blooming, beautiful, maternal, creative, luscious, badass, married to Harry, deeply in love, in her element, taking care of her life, fulfilled, happy, thriving, etc. All this, while majestic black blood flows through her lovely veins.

Nothing the haters get up to will ever change anything about who Meghan is, what she has, what she does and achieves, nor what she deserves and is blessed with.

Cue the refrain that will go down in history: “The firm coulda had a bad b$tch!”

  19. Catherine says:

Nobody claimed Harry was mocking Britishness or the Queen when he was drinking tea with James Corden. And he was openly talking about what he disliked about living in the UK while drinking that tea.

  20. Woke says:

What I hate about the smear campaign against Meghan is it’s leave no room for genuine constructive criticism/feedback of what she does because you end up defending her against such bullshit.

    • Amy Bee says:

You can still criticise Meghan. Who said you can’t?

      • Woke says:

I’m not saying I can’t it’s just defending her end up taking more place.

      • Amy Bee says:

It still should not stop you from criticising her if you want. I suspect something else may be stopping you from doing so.

    • Harla says:

@Woke, I know exactly what you mean. If one makes a constructive criticism it seems to either get lost in the tsunami of hate and abuse or taken to such an extreme by the haters that it loses all meaning.

    • equality says:

“Constructive” criticism would imply that the person consulted with you and would know your opinion. How could it be “constructive” otherwise? Since Meghan has no idea who you are, what would it matter?

    • aftershocks says:

I completely agree with @Woke. I don’t think Woke is saying that Meghan deserves over-scrutiny and criticism. It’s just that the OTT outlandish nonsense, gaslighting and insane demonizing leaves absolutely no room for normal analysis and clarity. If you didn’t really know or follow the Sussexes closely, you’d have to spend eons throwing out all the the asinine crapola all over YouTube and social media, not to mention tabloids and mainstream media.

A lot of the crazy narratives about Meghan & Harry, perpetuated by the rota rats, has seeped into American mainstream outlets. Even the Los Angeles Times magazine’s special edition on M&H earlier this summer contained U.K. rota falsehoods. The cover was wonderful, but I was disappointed by the many erroneous takes inside the publication. It was obviously put together for moneymaking purposes rather than as a legit, balanced, truthful, and in-depth portrait of the couple. As we all know, Meghan & Harry sell.

Fortunately, the Sussexes are smart enough to stay focused on their goals and on what matters. They are not having their heads turned by the over-adulation, and they are courageously battling the misinformation and the outright smears.

I feel lucky that I did my homework on who Meghan is as soon as I learned she was dating Harry back in November 2016. I didn’t listen to the crazy half sister’s early attacks, nor anything floating in the media. At that time, it was still possible to find neutral, first-hand YouTube videos about Meghan, consisting of interviews, talk show appearances, fashion features, etc. Now it’s impossible to find anything on Meghan that’s fairminded and straightforward without first throwing out all the deranged hater channels and insane Megxit accounts on YouTube.

Even after eliminating the vile trash, there are still all the celebrity news channels and talking head shows in the U.K. Canada, Australia and the U.S., containing a mixed-bag of mostly nonsense. The majority of Sussex faux news fails to even consider discussing the actual work M&H are doing with World Central Kitchen; the Loveland Foundation; the VaxLive initiative; the very impressive Times 100 broadcast on the dangers of social media, hosted by M&H, etc. Plus, the many donations to charities by M&H, and by SussexSquad supporters!

Yes, anyone who loves them can still choose to criticize M&H, but why would we? I may have some minor critiques, but I tend to keep them to myself to avoid haters and rota jumping on anything they can to blow out of proportion, after they get short on creating their own nonsense. And devoted supporters tend to be very protective and sensitive to most criticism of Meghan, because it is usually coming from ingenuous or ignorant people.

Honestly, there’s barely anything to criticize the Sussexes for under these circumstances. But they are human, and imperfect, and they know that. They just get up every day and do what they can to keep putting their best forward. They are role models. I see them as smart, proactive young people who give me hope for the future.

^^ Thanks @Nick G! The insane jealousy that circulates and emanates in the U.K. tabs and on social media against the Sussexes is so OTT and beyond crazy. I just had to get these thoughts off my chest in response to @Woke’s relevant observation.

I appreciate the honest space that Celebitchy provides here! Thanks to Kaiser for including that very long post by me. BTW, the opening posts in this thread are pure solid gold! Laughter is definitely the best medicine. That’s one of the reasons why I stan the Sussexes. They clearly spend time laughing together, which is so important in dealing with life’s ups-and-downs.

  21. Merricat says:

So it’s fine to mock Meghan for being an American, but not fine for an American comedian to mock crusty British society? Lol. Goose, gander.

    • Britt says:

They don’t want to acknowledge the fact that most Americans could care less about about the monarchy and rightfully see it as a joke. They didn’t like all those fellow actors, leaders etc supporting Meghan on her birthday initiative. America was supposed to turn against the Sussexes and not support them and love the Queen and the Queen and King of Keening. Going after Meghan with the racism and xenophobia will be something they’ll regret for a long time.

      • fluffy_bunny says:

We’re American do we aren’t going to do any of those things. Maybe they need to watch Hamilton on Disney+ and brush up on why we don’t do those things?

  22. Chelsea says:

Honestly i felt like Melissa’s getup was more joking about how some people freak out when they meet royalty and act like they need to wear silly hats or imitate the Queen’s English but maybe that’s just me. James Corden did a very similar bit when Harry was on his show earlier this year when he brought out all the fine china and teacups and joked about it making Harry feel more at home but i don’t remember these nuts getting bent out of shape about that part then.

I also seem to remember some video of Meghan pre-Harry where she was shown drinking tea from a tea cup and Harry mentioned to James that they give Archie tea before bed so im im sure they actually do drink tea in their house like a lot of people do. It’s not something the royal family has ownership on. People drink tea.

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

I don’t think they meant the boy actually *drinks* “tea”, rather it was his dinner meal, or a little bedtime snack.

For the upper classes, having “Tea” began as a mid-afternoon gathering for a snack of tiny sandwiches and sweets so ladies wouldn’t get the vapors between the noon meal and the later evening dinner. For the more “common folk”, High Tea was a heartier fare, actually being their supper.

      • Kkat says:

Naa they probably actually meant he drinks tea.
My x husband is British and his parents always gave them milky tea, and my older son always drank milky tea before bed. It’s a relaxing drink.

      • fluffy_bunny says:

Maybe they give him sleepy time tea?

  23. fluffy_bunny says:

The British have not cornered the market on tea or tea drinking. I have a whole cabinet full of tea and there’s a tea embargo in my house. I’m not allowed to buy more until I drink what I have. I’m American. And all of my teas are Canadian because I refuse to spend one penny on that racist salty island.

    • Nick G says:

Fluffy bunny same. My tea cupboard is out of control. I’m in Toronto and we get some of our tea from Hollywood! (There’s a great tea shop behind the Chinese Theatre)

    • L84Tea says:

American tea drinker here! I have a whole cabinet of Harney & Sons tea (which comes from New York state). I love it.

    • Eurydice says:

Well, around here we haven’t had much to do with tea ever since we dumped it in the harbor. Every so often a lone tea shop will open up, but hopes are dashed and it closes within 6 months. But we have coffee shops on every corner.

    • Lila says:

Ohhh nice to find other tea addicts. Simpson and Vail (CT) is my go-to.

  24. aquarius64 says:

I think Melissa is clowning the British establishment. For four years the Saltines slagged on Meghan’s Hollywood roots. That a woman in the entertainment industry is only good enough to be a jump off or a side chick for a royal prince, certainly not to be a British princess. Hollywood sees you went after one of its own for no cause; and the Crown, Oprah, and the upcoming Lifetime movie is payback. The fact that the serious US media pay you dust with your hit pieces is an another heaping bowl of karma.

    • Britt says:

They’re angry nothing has worked out. Harry and Meghan are still successful and are now living the American dream. The Crown and that Oprah interview were cultural moments and highly successful. The world doesn’t stop because an out of date institution is upset or is being mocked.

    • JanetDR says:

Right!? Meghan is not doing anything but Melissa is just wearing what any of us would do if meeting a Duchess. 😂

  25. Lori says:

I thought it was self mocking the many things they have said about Megan. Peaceful under a tree, crazy birthday party ideas etc. But Angela and the rest of those old bags tried to make it about themselves. And they are pissed the Queen said happy birthday and put up a nice pic where she took her black grandchild’s wife out to represent the monarchy. I dont know what they thought would happen. An ugly meme and a f-off and die greeting.

  26. Over it says:

It’s just like the English to steal tea and things from other people countries and then claim it as their own. India says hello.

    • Killfanora says:

      As does China

    • Eurydice says:

Never mind tea – we want the Parthenon Marbles back.

    • Fortuona says:

      Well China says hello .

Their only tea in India because Britain fought a war with China about Opium and they secured plants as part of them winning ,instead of having to buy the tea for smack which is what they were doing

  27. Lizzie says:

Wow, this expert missed that Meghan was sipping tea.

  28. Jen says:

When they want to criticize but have no real basis, they throw things at the wall to see what “sticks.” Lilibet’s birth for example “The problem was they didn’t call the Queen.” “The problem was they used a private nickname” “The problem was they kept it private before announcing.” Then they finally settled on “They informed the Queen but did not get her express permission.”

None of it matters to anyone who isn’t determined to find fault.

  29. My3cents says:

I’ll add a little fuel to the fire by adding that she can also-
Spill the tea on all of them
Just here chilling spinning my tea while all you salties are engorged & Incandescent

    • Duch says:

I kept wondering if anyone was going to mention that angle, because we know the tea is HOT! I looked again at Meghan’s beatific confident smile, and figured, no, that wasn’t her meaning. No glimmer of a wink. But for the rest of us, yes, that was exactly my first reaction.

  30. Nic919 says:

I am also tired of seeing complaints about the cost of the Hermes blanket. How can they complain about that when the rest of them are in literal taxpayer funded palaces with stolen artefacts? Not to mention that every time Kate decides to leaves her palace she is wearing a disposable outfit that costs as much as that blanket if not more.

    • Snuffles says:

I would love it if someone did a financial analysis on what the royals would be worth if they lost their taxpayer funding, returned the Crown land and property back to the people and all of their stolen jewelry and art. I think most of them wouldn’t have a pot to piss in. I think deep down they know that and it makes them all the more angrier that Harry and Meghan have their own money, land and property.

      • tamsin says:

I think the royal family has a great deal of private wealth and two privately owned income producing estates. All the wealth goes to the sovereign though, so that the portfolio is not split up. If they actually had to earn their own living, in some profession, for example, then I think they would be in trouble. It appears the queen has taken care of all of her children. It seems to me that future generations should be thinking of ways to earn a living. Even the aristocrats generally expected all spares to enter the military or the clergy in the past. Entering a profession would be very middle class. It seems to me that Charles just let’s the Queen take care of his children. His apparent failure to help his sons really puzzles me and makes me think less of him, despite his successful philanthropy and projects. He has indeed been a productive Prince of Wales, unlike past generations who spent their time in debauchery its seems.

    • Over it says:

Are these people serious? Meghan and Harry paid for that blanket with their money that they earned while having a real job. The brits can’t have it both ways. They are no longer tax payers funded. Furthermore they paid back the money for the so-call gift cottage and left because those racist told Meghan that she and her son were too dark skinned for their all white monarchy. So Harry took his family and bounced. Now these people are slowly dying that after all that Harry and Meghan keep rising like the sun.

      • Nyro says:

They think this hatred toward wealthy people who earn their money works over here. It doesn’t. We don’t even hate people who inherited money. We love generational wealth that was earned and not stolen. Americans see pocket watching as pathetic. And attacking a black woman, a descendent of the enslaved people who built this country, for going out and earning millions, sure as he’ll ain’t going to play over here. These people are so stupid. Do they not realize that Americans do not have the same hang-ups and issues as them. Do they not understand that when Americans see Harry, they see a grown ass man who chose to leave the family business and move out of his granny’s guest house, get married, and then moved to his wife’s hometown. Americans call that growing up and living your own life. The Brits call this betrayal and a traitorous act against their queen. They really think their weirdo issues with money and success are shared by Americans. It’s like they’ll never figure out why Americans are not angry and pressed over Meghan and Harry living their lives.

    • Amy Bee says:

Those head scarves that the Queen wears when she’s off duty are usually Hermes.

      • notasugarhere says:

Yes, QEII has a huge collection of Hermes scarves. She’s been collecting them for decades.

      • Jais says:

Lol maybe the Hermès blanket is actually a gift from the queen and they’re making sure to include it so she’ll see in the vid. If she collects the scarfs, maybe she gives the blanket as presents.

    • Agreatreckoning says:

@Nic919, it is annoying yet kind of funny at the same time. They are earning their own $. Not only that, any of the items could have been gifts from friends for their wedding, birthdays, Christmas, house warming, etc,.. OMG they have expensive things is such a silly outcry on the BM’s part.

  31. Tursitops says:

So much reach for offence in everything that the Sussexes do that you’d think the rr were the ones into yoga, yet hardly a hint of outrage for the blatant, repeated, verified horrors committed by the rest of the family. They don’t have to look far for daily contradictions, but they refuse to see them for what they are. There are none so blind as those who will not see, but for these two the rr trots out their night vision goggles, headlamps and magnifying glasses.

  32. Rapunzel says:

If you read some responses to Levin’s tweet, you’ll see the theory that Meg is using these videos to merch. That she’s making money off the products shown- the constellation necklace, the shawl, the Hermes blanket.

Like, Jesus H. Christ, she can’t even display anything she owns. They literally want her to have nothing.

Meanwhile, W&K make a Lands End ad for their anniversary, and nobody peeps.

    • OriginalLala says:

those same people have been accusing her of “merching” since she was Harry’s GF – whether she is or not, who cares, that’s literally what celebs and royals do for brands.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

Right. Like Land Rover and other Royal Warrants are not a mutually beneficial relationship for the BRF.

    • Snuffles says:

If it was sponsored, there are now legal requirements that you must state that. But, as a celebrity, companies literally throw free shit at them because they are the OG influencers. If someone famous is wearing something or using some product or own some Homs goods, people go crazy and want to buy the same thing. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s getting free Swag.

      • Rapunzel says:

Snuffles- you’re definitely right that if it’s anything, it’s free swag, not sponcon.

It’s quite interesting that none of these haters have theorized that (to my knowledge). I wonder why? Is it because free sawg isn’t shady enough to accuse her of? Maybe they know Katie Keen gets free swag so they don’t care about that?

    • swirlmamad says:

And if she is…..so the hell what? She’s not beholden to the palace and their decrepit stolen artifacts any longer. She can do whatever the heck she wants to to make her money.

      • Snuffles says:

        @swirlmamad

That’s the thing. They keep trying apply these arbitrary “royal” rules to Meghan and they just don’t apply in her new setting. They want to act like she’s breaking “protocol” but all that BS doesn’t matter anymore and it’s driving them crazy.

Things operate totally different in the entertainment industry and that’s a world these RRs don’t really know about and, therefore can’t really write about. They keep trying to get us outraged when the rest of the world is like “so what?” 🤷🏽‍♀️

They know the royals and the aristocratic scene and the landscape of the UK inside and out but they know nothing of California or how the entertainment scene operates. Hell, they can’t even get the basic geography correct. They don’t know the industry or how it operates, they don’t know the people, they have no connections that they can work and get them to leak. The people that live and work in California have no deference or loyalty towards the royal family, so they have no leverage either.

Not only have the Sussex’s cut them off, they have no way of even weaseling themselves in to get a foothold. They are free falling and can’t do anything about it.

    • notasugarhere says:

But they ignore Kate and her family getting ‘royal discounts’ for 20 years. Selling access to ski holidays to Hello pre-wedding. All the freebies sent to Kate via Carole and Pippa and passed along to Kate. The absolute grifting around Pippa’s wedding, which will be surpassed by the absolute grifting around Marshmallow Boy’s wedding.

  33. Bunny says:

Absolutely. Meghan also mocked every single dead king and queen by breathing.

    Scandalous!

  34. Nyro says:

So now she was mocking their culture…cuz tea and hats. Are the Bits not embarrassed? Seriously? So glad Meghan left that place. It’s like the whole nation suffers from low self-esteem. Sheesh! They really don’t know what to do in the face of excellence. It’s just seethe from jealousy and attack until she’s as basic and mediocre as everyone else over there.

    • Killfanora says:

@ Nero. Please don’t refer to ALL Brits. Save your rage for the royals and the journalists, NOT the Brits en masse, most of whom love Meghan and Harry. Don’t be fooled by what you read!

      • Sofia says:

I’m saying this as a Brit but I wouldn’t say /all/ Brits or even most. Yes the rota and the “experts” don’t represent the vast majority of the country but I would say generally it’s very 50/50. The support for H&M increases when you ask younger people.

I would actually say most don’t care about the royals and don’t have a strong positive or negative opinion of any of the royals.

      • Maria says:

In my experience Brits often say they don’t care about the royals. But then in the same conversation when when I suggest maybe another referendum is a good idea in that case, they get defensive and become apologists.

  35. bella says:

knowing that Megan orchestrates down to the finest detail, I have to say that I totally LAUGHED, OUT LOUD, almost a snorting cackle, when I saw the name of the pattern of her teacup was BLACK REGAL PEACOCK

The Black Regal is obvious, and peacock symbolism is:

“The overall meaning of Peacock in Native American culture is self-confidence, self-esteem, dignity, refinement, knowledge, sexuality, pride, and beauty. According to some myths, in history, lore, and legend, the peacock symbol carries omens of nobility, guidance, holiness, watchfulness, and protection.”

    So, yes, I laughed. hard.

    • Ginger says:

I am LOVING this message. Go Meghan! They will never get on her level. Never.

      • aftershocks says:

^^ So true @Ginger! And thanks so much @Bella, for sharing the Native American meaning of Peacock! That’s cool, and so relevant to how Meghan carries herself. I’m inspired to do more to intentionally practice self-care and to surround myself with lovely things, beautiful artwork and objects like the white crystal, which gives off positive energies and peaceful vibes.
Observing Feng shui at home is a goal!

The white paper trays on Meg’s desk reportedly can be found at Target. I’m also going to try and get the crystal, and find a Regal Black Peacock mug to sip my chamomile and peppermint tea in, and also the golden latte from Clevr Blends!

Thanks for your below thoughts @Rapunzel. Very well expressed sentiments about the reflective, peaceful vibes and intentional messaging Meghan is sending.

    • Rapunzel says:

I think most everything was very intentional. The necklace to remind us of her royal children, the blanket which has an H to remind us of Harry, her royal husband, as well as the Hermès brand, to remind us she has her own money to afford nice things. The shawl, to indicate how wrapped in safety, happiness and “peaceful under a tree is me.”

And Guy in the corner, reminding us of how the queen rode with him (and dogsat?). Plus Harry juggling like the clown the press thinks he is, but also to indicate that he’s actually not the clown and juggling a lot of great projects, jobs, and deals.

The name of the cup fits right in with this.

    • tamsin says:

      @bella

      Love it!

    • SenseOfTheAbsurd says:

Would that actually be the meaning in Indian culture? Because that’s where they’re from, they’re not native to America.

      • Jaded says:

They were brought over to America from Asia in the mid-eighteen hundreds and proliferated quickly so I assume the First Nations tribes started using their feathers in a number of ceremonial rituals.

    • notasugarhere says:

The design was first made in 1913, in blue, and admired by Queen Mary of Teck.

  36. Mooney says:

Alright. I’m sitting here literally drinking hot ginger tea 🍵 in a floral mug (not the vintage style). Am I also mocking the queen here 😂🤣😂

  37. Eurydice says:

Britain has a centuries old tradition of mocking the monarchy – their political cartoons are savage. And now, there’s The Prince, with TQ as a mafia don. But drinking tea – well thats the LAST STRAW!!!

  38. Moxylady says:

China meanwhile remains silent on Meghan drinking tea…..
tea after all is a British invention, specifically by the Queen.

    • Fortuona says:

Heh we had a War to liberate that tea (twice)

See Tai Pan for the evidence and got a Colony out of it for 150 years

  39. tamsin says:

Melissa in the fascinator, very English flowery dress and drinking tea tea from a fine china cup strikes me as a bit of a riff on James Corden (who is British) rolling out a whole tea trolley and Harry drinks tea on top of double-decker bus (how British)! Later, Harry shows his Britishness and upbringing by referring to Archie’s “tea” which is the toddler’s late afternoon meal before bedtime. Melissa changes into the “English” get-up because she is speaking to an English Duchess (via marriage) so “let’s be proper,” The fascinator is a charming parody, since it looks like a giant cabbage on a plate. I mean, a lot of British fascinators are self-parodies, imo.
Meghan is gently amused, and drinks her tea (like Harry) , not out of a fine china cup, but a sturdy breakfast cup manufactured by a very British firm. She has what appears cake, or scone, and jam on the plate beside her. Yes, Melissa is mocking the whole British thing in this context, and Meghan would be mocking it too if she hadn’t had tea. Would all the women who dressed up in dresses and fascinators to watch the royal weddings be considered insulting the British?
These comments about insulting the Queen, and Megan being too smiley are pathetic. Why are they not embarrassed to say these things out loud?

  40. AnneSurely says:

I could be convinced that Melissa was taking shots at Kate with this outfit. Between the 0ver the top fascinated on her forehead the way Kate likes to wear them to the ugly floral dress… I dont think Meghan is that pointed, but this is just the kind of petty I think Melissa would get into for Meghan.

    • Marivic says:

That huge flowered fascinator is really Kate. Melissa was mocking her to represent the whole establishment.

The Express has this article that Meghan’s birthday initiative was a failure. The British media couldn’t admit it to themselves that Meghan’s birthday initiative has garnered global attention and support from big time personalities. Not even Kate’s Early Years and William’s Earth shot were able to match its impact. And for this Meghan is being smeared and punished by the likes of Angela L and the rest of her cohorts.

  41. Margaret says:

The issues as I, imho, see it, is there will always be excuses given, by the haters of meghan, as reasons to continue to justify their hatred, to try in their minds, to deny their racist. Admitting to racist would force them to face who they are. These people wake each morning with hate, they go to bed each night with hate, and then repeat the sequence. Totally an unhealthy regime.
I can’t understand nor do I want to with Angela, Camilla, piers, Dan, and the host of others clowns, claiming to be journalist, and royal experts, oh and not leaving out the trolls, who knowingly spout bs, to try and fit their sick narratives to make them feel better for their hate.

  42. SunRae says:

This is just another symptom of an ongoing psychosis in response to Meghan not caring about or giving the time of day to the Royals and their sycophants. That she’s paying them dust is what’s unhinging them. Even the narratives here claiming she’s mocking or sending a message is all about centering the royal family in Meghan’s life and story YEARS after she walked away.

They chased her away. There’s no justifying reporting on her anymore. They have to make everything she does about England so they can keep some attachment to her and get their narcissistic hits everytime she breaths and write their tragic articles to make that month’s rent. They’ve been reduced to the gutter cos they exiled the most interesting personality that ever happened to them.

From this side of things, the royals and their fans seem increasingly weird, jealous, bitter and common. Not a regal thing about them. Awful, irrelevant people. Meghan is such a bad fit for that world that the only criticism I have for her is WHY she didn’t insist on Harry stepping down before they got married. She had no business being in that horror show and now she’ll have these creepy stalkers tailing her every move her whole life. Mess.

    • Carmen-JamRock says:

      @sunrae
I know u mean well and thats the spirit in whch i receive ur msg but, did u really say Meghan should hv INSISTED THAT HARRY STEP DOWN before they got married???

Not even H himself knew tht it was possible tht he could walk away from tht life. But u wanted the first black woman in modern times to enter tht life, to begin disrupting things even BEFORE she married in. Ok. Got it.

I thought the received wisdom on this site is tht we would not blame victims for being victimized.

    • swirlmamad says:

I get what you are trying to say but there is absolutely NO way Meghan could have insisted Harry step down from royal life before they married and have a better outcome than what transpired. As bad as it’s been it would have been 1000% worse for her and them as a couple in that case — the mean, black American harlot who ripped the beloved royal prince from the UK people?

    • Sofia says:

Why would Meghan insist Harry on stepping down when she herself had no intentions of ever stepping down once she become a royal? Despite what some (this goes for both haters and some fans), Meghan /wanted/ to be a working royal. She wanted to do engagements. She wanted to do charity work. She wanted to be there in the firm. Her and Harry leaving was literally the last resort for them. Had the press been nice or even neutral, they would still be there. Even when they announced they were stepping down, their initial plan was to be part time royals and still do duties for the queen.

And while we have the benefit of hindsight and can say “oh there were so many red flags”, nobody back in May 2018 predicted it would get to… this.

    • notasugarhere says:

      • Lorelei says:

@Nota, not everyone with an opinion that differs from the majority here is a troll, though. I don’t think Sunrae is one, at least not from this particular comment.

I absolutely understand why people took issue with her last paragraph, and, FWIW, I totally agree with the pushback she’s receiving for that comment. But she doesn’t come across as a troll at all to me.

    • aftershocks says:

^^ Yeah @Sunrae, I understand what you’re saying. But honestly, Meghan fell in love, and she’s an optimist. She also didn’t really have a clue about the rot, petty jealousy, and utter incompetence that exists behind palace walls. She knew nothing about the toxic truths embedded in British royal history. She was confident, in love, and hopeful. As she said, she expected it would be hard navigating the royal sphere, but at the very least, she thought the coverage “would be fair.” She also believed palace courtiers when they falsely promised they would ‘protect’ her.

For Harry’s part, he grew up in that world, and thus he was somewhat blinded to the worst of what was to come. He was, like Meghan, in love and hopeful. Above all, he did not want to lose Meghan. He made it clear to his family how much he valued her, and how much she meant to him. They both made it clear in the engagement interview that, “Our relationship comes first. Whatever we have to face, we’ll face it together.”

Apparently, no one was listening, and everyone took Harry for granted, while most aside from the Queen and a few others, dismissed Meghan out of hand and expected her to kowtow, to become a wallflower, or to ultimately fail. She and Harry both enthusiastically tried to make it work. They shined in their work and on tour, and were genuninely embraced by the public. But as Harry said, after their successful South Pacific tour, the rota carnival was allowed to cut loose. So the smear campaign against Meghan took on an unrelenting life of its own.

In the Oprah interview, Harry asked again for them to “call off the dogs.” Of course, the rota is out-of-control at this point, so the rabid whining and vicious attacks continue. M&H told their truth and they’re moving forward further into the light, shining still. Karma will take its course for everyone.

That is a huge issue no one actually LISTENS to what The Sussex’s say, especially with Prince Harry re his wife and choices… they are to busy writing dialogue to fit their own hateful agenda.

      • aftershocks says:

        ^^ Exactly, @Cessily.

And, thank you @Swirlmamad! I’ve shouted out many a ‘Right On!’ while reading your thoughtful and well-expressed posts in CB royalty threads! I feel that way about the excellent posts by so many CBers having their say here. A fabulous, fun and enlightening site. Kudos to Kaiser, Celebitchy, and Celebitches!

      • swirlmamad says:

@Cessily that is so true — and I can’t even imagine how frustrating that must be for both Harry and Meghan….it’s like you’re constantly screaming into the ether and it goes in one ear and out the other, every single time. Maddening.

@aftershocks — right back at ‘cha! I love how insightful the vast majority of posters on this site are…so many smart Celebitches out here in these internet streets! 😉😎

If anyone wants to purchase the cups it’s all available from the guys who made it. https://www.burleigh.co.uk/collections/black-regal-peacock

It’s handcrafted and lovely stuff. And they also supply Soho House with their homewares.

  45. Keri says:

They rats should be wary of messing with US celebs that are friends with Meghan. They are stupidly poking the bear. Her friends in the industry and political allies have huge platforms and can easily call out their BS on a global scale. They got a taste of the tongue lashing from Patrick J. Adams which was glorious and yet still haven’t learned a thing. It’s only a matter of time. Someone with a higher profile could annihilate them. Their media is already seen as a global joke. I hope they continue to FAAFO.

Somebody ask Angela Levin how come she didn’t get up in arms when James Corden/Prince Harry did the exact same thing, breaking out their fancy china and drinking tea. Also, the audacity of Brits to say Meghan copied them when they stole tea from China and enslaved India to grow it. Now they act like anyone who drinks tea is stealing *their* culture. I guess that’s what you have to do when you don’t really have any culture of your own. Sheesh.

  47. Noor says:

Angela Levin knows that she can get airtime only when she bitches over Meghan. As a royal biographer, Angela Levin is a total disgrace.

    • Agreatreckoning says:

She is. Levin is not a biographer. She’s a lieographer.

    • SenseOfTheAbsurd says:

Right there in her godawful book that Harry only gave her a short interview because he was sick of her creeping around going through his bins and trying to steal his underpants to sniff.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

Oh that imagery! The truth and Levin are worlds apart. Even her tweet about Meghan posting a picture of a tea cup after her first meeting with the Queen is a lie – if the reports are true to when she first met TQ (unfortunately none of the royals involved told me the exact date). H & M’s first date was sometime in July 2016. Meghan posted the tea cup/puzzle picture Nov. 1, 2016 while in Toronto. She shutdown the Tig April 2017. The majority of the reports said the first meeting with the Queen took place September 2017(Royal Lodge?) and in October 2017 there was a story about Meghan having tea with the Queen. Levin really doesn’t use her noggin with her lies. Unless I missed the announcement that 2017 came before 2016.

  48. lee says:

Are they sure it wasn’t coffee. After all Americans use cups to drink from things other than soft drink bottles.

    • Gingerbee says:

      Americans drink tear too 🤦🏽‍♀️

    • Becks1 says:

I mean it could have been tea, could have been coffee, could have been water, could have been champagne, none of us know, that’s the beauty of someone like Levin getting so up in arms over it lol.

      • Lorelei says:

@Becks it was probably empty!! Mine would be if I was wearing all white and holding it right over my iPad while being filmed, lol.

I had to pretend to drink out of an empty mug when I was an extra in a scene in a tv show a few years ago, and it’s actually harder than it looks, lol! But on set, everyone’s cups were empty; they were props and I guess they wanted to avoid any kind of spillage until filming was over.

  49. TheFarmer'sWife says:

Town & Country has an entire piece dedicated to Meghan’s excellent taste in teacups. The cup and saucer are now sold out. Meghan’s “old-fashioned teacup,” handmade in Britain, has supported a British maker and its employees. No mention of that anywhere in any of their horrific reporting. Tea drinking will most likely become even more popular because of Meghan; she’ll be blamed for the shortage. No doubt, the BP will find a way to link tea growing to an international crime cartel…but that would be telling on themselves, wouldn’t it?

    • Cessily says:

You think they would be happy that the tea cup and saucer made in Britain sold out in minutes and now has a waiting list would be the focus along with her mentoring initiative The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan probably broke records for tea cup sales during and after people saw the video.
I have come to the conclusion that the world is just full of people who are miserable and the only goal they have is to make everyone as miserable as they are..

  50. bettyrose says:

All I know is if you’re gonna rock a matching fascinator and tea cup, you better be mocking someone.

  51. L4frimaire says:

apparently there a ton of unhinged articles on the Duchess of Sussex’s birthday video in UK tabloids. They’re churning out one ridiculous article after another. Also the amount of sad bitterness on Twitter over teacups and Hermès blankets are really something. They really don’t know how to handle this at all. It’s actually fun seeing the amount of craziness over this video and Meghan’s office.

    • Cessily says:

It is a beautiful blanket, would laugh if it was a gift from the Queen..

      • ennie says:

LoL, it could easily be! I think she has many Hermès scarves!

      • Lorelei says:

@Ennie, she does! Everyone bitching about the cost of Meghan’s blanket must have forgotten that the Queen has an *enormous* collection of Hermès scarves that she wears a lot when she’s outside but off duty. Such hypocrites.

  52. Gubbinal says:

This may seem totally off the point but this: Jessica Mitford, the activist, sent her sister, the Duchess of Devonshire, a picture of Jessica and her husband working with laborers, noting that “this is us being active”.

The Duchess of Devonshire sent Jessica a photograph of herself and her husband, the Duke of Devonshire, at the Coronation of QE2 inscribed “this is us being active”. She loved it, but she knew that being a Duchess was a performative act 60 or 70 years ago.

  53. Dss says:

Melissa McCarthy is a national treasure!!!!

  54. Lowrider says:

That Levin woman is a nut job. Why amplify her tweets??

  55. Steph says:

I agree she Melissa was mocking royalists. But if she needs a defense, she can also claim she was dressed like a Southern Belle. Regardless she made me laugh

  56. Jaded says:

I loved that giant crystal Meghan had on her desk. I’m a Reiki teacher and practitioner and I know many of you will think its woo-hoo but I use crystals to “cleanse” bad energy from around me during a session. Here’s what her white crystal represents:

Clarity, purity, and ascension are echoed in white crystals. White crystals are often celebrated as having emotionally healing energies. They are said to amplify dreams and visions, connect us with our spirit guides, and encourage us to be open and receptive. White crystals are connected to feminine energy and the idea of purifying your body, mind, and soul. They help us to crystallize our purpose and to take steps to transform piece by piece so that we can step into our highest sense of self.

These gems are also known for encouraging clear-headed thinking, emotional balance, and a sense of compassion rather than cynicism. These are all amazing traits to bring into any relationship – business, romantic or otherwise. The high vibrations of white crystals stop you from getting bogged down in negative thinking or frustrating details that don’t really matter and keep you connected to themes of spiritual connection, universal caring, and gentle acceptance.

    • Green Desert says:

I don’t think it’s woo woo at all…thanks for sharing, Jaded! I always love learning about alternate healing practices. The white crystal seems fitting for Meghan. Love it.

    • Bettyrose says:

Jaded – same. Not woo woo at all. I enjoyed your explanation. I’m not especially spiritual but I see no reason why humans wouldn’t benefit from nature which crystals are derived from.

      • Monica says:

Clearing with crystals is the epitome of woo-woo. Woo-woo does not always equal bad, just different.

      • Jaded says:

@Monica – and how is it bad? Before you make a blanket statement denouncing something you probably know nothing about, back up your opinion with some facts. Narrow-mindedness is far worse.

      • Monica says:

Jaded, I edited my comment. I used the “not equal” key at first, which can look too much like the equal key. I’m probably the most woo-woo person on this board. I’d looooove to be proven wrong!

      • Jaded says:

@Monica – thanks for the clarification! xo

    • Cessily says:

Sold.. I need a white crystal

  57. stagaroni says:

Of course Melissa was mocking the Isle of Dimwit Ploys. The Paid Pipers of Palacetown are so desperate for dirt they are willing to throw their own Queen into the muck to get it. So very tacky indeed.

  58. teehee says:

    O M G.

Even in my company we now do virtual “coffee calls” where we all sit with a cup in front of the camera and chitty chat– because we cant meet up in person.

How is this— why…. why does everything have to be about them (BRF) ?! The need to get over themselves. they are THAT HIGH up their own spitoons that they literally cannot see other people existing. Like they have no boundaries where they end and others begin.

  59. Lory says:

I went to check out the teacups and found that there is a pattern based on Highgrove. Shocking that this pattern hasn’t sold out 😂
    https://www.burleigh.co.uk/pages/burleigh-x-highgrove

    • mercury says:

@lory I wouldnt want to support this racist empire- probably the reason they’re not sold out

      • Lory says:

The cup Meghan was using is already sold out. I meant that the line named after the Cambridge’s residence is ironically, not.

  60. Feebee says:

McCarthy absolutely was sending up the British “upper class”. As one does. Who amongst us hasn’t raised a pinky to poke fun every now and again.

As for tea, the Brits can just take a seat. Tea is having a worldwide moment and it has nothing to do with the British.

  61. Likeyoucare says:

I believe Meghan, Melissa and Harry were mocking the clowns of so call experts.

And those clowns took the bite.
The more they spread hatred at H&M causing their credibility to be questionable outside of UK.

Hey, more free publicity to H&M too.
