These are new pictures, but you would barely know it because Angelina is wearing all-black. AGAIN. Angelina needs to upgrade this all-black boho-goth wardrobe of hers, it’s kind of insane. I mean, I get it. She wears black. Lots of black. She’s dark and mysterious. She’s still got the soul of the misunderstood goth-punk kid. We get it, Angie. Paint It Black. “I see a red door and I want it painted black/ No colors anymore I want them to turn black/ I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes/ I have to turn my head until my darkness goes/Hmm, hmm, hmm/ I wanna see it painted, painted black/Black as night, black as coal…” That being said, I would love to see her in a pair of jeans and a red t-shirt. Or even a nice little patterned sundress. Sigh.
Anyway, Angelina Jolie took her oldest kid Maddox out to a supermarket in Brignoles, France today. Maddox seems to be getting quite a bit of one-on-one time with his parents lately – just last week, Madd was the only Jolie-Pitt kid to accompany Brad to New York, where they chilled out at Dave & Buster’s. Mommy’s no fun, though. She just takes her boy grocery shopping. Except that mommy’s secretly cool because she buys toy guns!
Yes, I would have missed it too, except some eagle-eyed OK! Magazine editor noticed it – Angelina is carrying a small toy gun, still in it’s packaging. We already know Maddox shares his mom’s affinity for knives and weaponry – even Brad mentioned in his Rolling Stone interview last year that he helps Maddox look for new weapons. So why are toy guns surprising or even scandalous? They’re not really. I’m just surprised that toy guns are sold in grocery stores in France. I learned something new.

on the subject of her clothes, I wear black a lot, too. not because I’m all goth and mysterious like St. Angie, just that I have a tendency to spill on myself and black doesn’t show much.

I think she wears black and similar outfits so that the paps get the same photos over and over. She probably walks aroung the castle in shorts and t shirts and throws on the LBD when she goes out. I think a new JP is in ht eoffing. Either adopted or bio I will be happy for them.

Who cares if she wears a lot of black? Probably nobody. I love black myself. No big deal on the toy gun either. This site needs to get over itself regards the critical eye on every little detail….not a big deal – the clothes or the gun….relax.
Being Goth is really a whole different ballpark. Angie isn’t Goth, she just seems comfortable wearing black. Seriously, the woman has 6 children, a crazy busy life, not to mention paps hounding her all the time. Why blame her for wanting to be comfortable (the loose dresses, tops and skirts) and just liking a colour. Besides, probably makes it easy not to worry about colour mismatches. She walks red carpets for her job as an actress all the time, where she has to made up and picture perfect. Cut her some slack. We all love to veg out in yoga pants and no bra when we can. I’m sure at some point she just decided she’d do it too in her free time, regardless of the eyes of the world. And she’s damn right.
Oh yeah and about the gun thing: that supermarket she was in seems like one of those huge ones they have all over the place in France. These have toy sections. The gun she bought Maddox just shots arrows with a rubber suction tip. My French grandparents must’ve bought me dozens of those in my childhood years. They’re cheap junk but they make kids happy. 🙂 So it’s not like those supermarkets sell guns that are in any way “life-like” replicas of actual guns.

@ princess pea: by no means am I a devotee of Angelina Jolie. I’m just saying that as a woman (and a woman who has not had a holiday since 2003), I totally understand her free-time sartorial choices and I think people should let her be. So what if she wears the same dress all the time. Don’t we all have favourite clothes?

Yeah, I get what you guys are saying – and I wear a lot of black too! But I mix it up with navy, white and the odd splash of red – it’s just as easy putting on comfortable navy pants and a blue t-shirt, as it is to slip on yet another black boho-goth dress.
I mean, I love her and everything, but my girl needs to mix it up. And she needs to fire her stylist. Jennifer Rabe is doing her no favors.

Or hey, Let’s just look at it like this: my mom has to wear a nice suit every day for work, so when we go out just to run errands or whatever, she schlubs it up. And you know what? She’s got 4 kids. If she wants to chill in some black sweatpants and black tshirts belonging to my dad, I think she’s kind of earned that right.

it’s a DRESS, one piece, ONE! so yeah, it’s all black, but it’s not like she’s wearing a black shirt, black jeans and a black jacket, then yeah, that’s wearing all black, but if you’re wearing a one piece outfit then it’s hardly “goth” just because it’s black. What if the dress were a dark shade of brown or green? same idea, just a different hue. get over it.

Angelina said something like she wore black because she’s not into clothes so it’s easy and simple. I don’t see what the big deal is. They’re her clothes and she can wear whatever she wants.
I hope no one thinks I am strange in that I only wear dresses, never separates, and that I quite notoriously favor only black; I am pretty sure I have about 40 black dresses in my closet that are all different, with some of those being as old as 10 years and worn to bits because they are my favorites. Universally appropriate and a cinch to accessorize or not as one chooses. Well done, her.

I was thinking about this after seeing Brad and Maddox the other day, but has anyone ever seen Pax out with one of the parents by himself? I’ve seen both girls out with mom individually and Maddox, of course. I’ve just never seen Pax out with a parent as the only kid. I wonder why.

i wear a lot of black. in fact i probably have over a dozen plain black t shirts. i am very much not goth, just a mother of little kids and little time.

Raven- off the top of my head, I can think of 3-4 Brad/Pax solo pictures & 1 or 2 Angie/Pax solo outings…that doesn’t mean there weren’t more, just no pictures. Brad said they are “chased out” of places/cities all over the world. Despite the what the naysayers cry, I think they work hard to keep their kids out of pap photos. They want them to do normal stuff, but it looks pretty hard. Brad and Angie both looked very upset when they saw the they paps at the latest fruit store trip w/ Z & Shi- I’ll bet they went there before w/ no issues and now feel they can’t go back. I think something like that happened w/ the LA dance class, too.

I think cee is right. Many celebs will wear the same things over and over because the paps don’t want the same picture over and over and as a double whammy the pictures aren’t worth as much if it’s the same outfit. I read an article about it and they had several paparazzi pictures of Madonna wearing the same argyle sweater.
I dont think her wearing that dress has got anything to do with her trying to avoid the paps taking a different more sellable shot. She just likes black and she likes that dress in particular. I have to say I think its flattering actually. It hides her bony legs and gives her a big of shape. She looks feminine and pretty. Give her a break guys, she’s just getting on with her PRIVATE LIFE…

i have to say that I wear a ton of black-i have at least 5 tank tops from Old Navy and American Apparel all in black. I have a beautiful black pea coat that is my life. I’ve worn all black outfits (i.e. black coat, black long-sleeve shirt, black skirt, black tights, black Stuart Weitzman patent leather booties which are my fave shoes on the planet). ANYWAY, my friends say I look like a spy when I dress like that, hee hee.
Anywho, I don’t think it’s a big deal that she dresses in black it’s just gross to wear the same dress all the time. Maybe she has that same dress 5 times over. I don’t know. It’s a distinct possibility. But to me, seeing a celebrity in the same distinctive look over and over reads as “I don’t wash my clothes very often”. And do not give the 6 kids excuse. You know there is a troop of nannies in the wings at their home. You know how celebrities lie about using the products they are shilling for? These people lie about not having nannies to seem more into their children.

I always laugh at the “Angelina loves attention” comments. She’s not even photographed a lot. I see Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Garner, etc everyday. When they were in L.A. Angelina was photographed maybe 5 or 6 times in three months. I think they are more photographed in France because it’s safer to walk around. The paps and public stay away and do not cause a commotion like the crowds did in NYC. The “she never washes her clothes” is stupid. How can you say laundry doesn’t get done when in the same sentence you claim they have 1000 nannies and servants? She probably just likes the dress and wears it a lot or bought several of the same dress. Clothes do shrink and discolor. If I really love something I get two.

I’ve been watching my best friends’ daughter slowly self destruct over the past few years because of that disorder. At the rate she is going, I doubt that she will live to see 20, despite the numerous counselors, social workers, psychiatrists and psychologists that have been treating her, along with her medication and inpatient treatment both in mental hospitals and “residential care” facilities.
You shouldn’t go throwing around serious psychiatric diagnoses in an attempt to seem clever on a message board. It’s deeply offensive to those of us who know people who are actually suffering with – and dying from – that condition.
Sorry, but I see this woman and I think she is a wonderful person because she is a big star and yet she is able to be down-to-earth enough to show off with her casual black dress and her casual flip flops and casual hair (not airbrushed to death à la Aniston) because she is out there to do some groceries with her son! Twinkle, you obviously don’t understand how serious the illness is either. The “borderline” means “borderline psychotic.” These girls (and it is mostly girls) are terribly self destructive and just cannot control themselves. Their suicide rate is extremely high. So “PFFT” to you for minimizing what is an extremely serious and damaging mental illness that does claim a lot of lives. Perhaps if you were watching someone slowly die because of it you wouldn’t be so flippant. It breaks my heart to see this almost-18 year old in such horrible condition, and she only continues to get worse rather than better.
