It looks like I was wrong. Jude Law actually did question whether Samantha Burke’s daughter was his. I was convinced that Jude and Samantha had established paternity of baby Sophia while Samantha was still pregnant, and that’s why Jude had finally come out in August and released his now infamous cryptic baby announcement. I had also given Jude the benefit of the doubt about not going down to Florida to meet his daughter – I thought he was just busy. Now I’m thinking he didn’t want to meet the baby until he had the DNA confirmation. Samantha’s rep is confirming paternity, and it sounds like the test was just done. The rep tells basically confirmed to several sources over the weekend that the DNA tests have just come back. This is what several British sources have been claiming for months – that Jude still wasn’t convinced he was the father. Now it’s for sure – and a source is telling the Daily Mail that Jude apologized to his ex-wife Sadie Frost (mother of his oldest three children), who is reportedly “livid”.

Jude Law has apologised to his family for his fling with a 24-year-old model – after being told that DNA tests ‘conclusively’ prove he fathered her baby girl.

The 36-year-old actor, who made his New York debut as Hamlet to rapturous reviews last week, has now admitted to his ex-wife Sadie Frost that Sophia, who was born on September 22 to Samantha Burke, is his.

Her agent, Eileen Koch,said last night: ‘Samantha can confirm that DNA testing has conclusively established that Jude Law is Sophia’s father. Check back in six months. Maybe she and Jude will be getting married.’

Jude now faces paying maintenance for Sophia’s living costs over the next 18 years, which experts estimate could total more than £2million.

The actor’s greater concern is said to be the damage to his image and to his relationship with Sadie and their three children, Rafferty, who turned 13 last week, Iris, eight, and Rudy, seven. Jude and Sadie divorced six years ago, but remain close friends.

One source close to Jude’s family said: ‘Sadie is livid. She feels that he has put unnecessary pressure and upset on to the children and has put himself under financial strain, which impinges on their life.’

Another source close to the couple said: ‘He told Sadie that he only slept with her once. But now he has confirmed to her and his children that the child is his. He has reassured the children it will not affect their family times together.’

Jude’s UK publicist, Sarah Keene, said she was aware of Koch’s DNA statement but added: ‘We don’t discuss this. We consider it an entirely private matter.’

At first I was like, “Why would Sadie by mad? They’ve been divorced for a while and both have moved on spectacularly.” But I kind of get it – Sadie is worried about her own financial situation, and whether Jude will be able to support their three children in the A-List way they’ve been accustomed to. Even though Samantha will probably get some kind of payday, either from the first baby pictures or a tell-all interview or book, chances are pretty good that Jude is going to be shelling out big time to support her and Sophia.
