I enjoy seeing H.E.R.’s red carpet fashion, because she likes bold dramatic looks and you can tell she has fun with it. Last night was no exception. She was wearing this incredible orange and yellow Dundas pantsuit with silver sequins running down the sides and billowing chiffon sleeves. This is amazing and the kind of look we love to see at the Grammys. This is inspired by Aretha Franklin’s look at the 1976 AMAs. (I’m including that below.) H.E.R. was up for five awards last night and won Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Fight For You.” She’s 24 and has an Oscar and four Grammys already! She also performed with Lenny Kravitz and Travis Barker last night.
Cynthia Erivo was in this velvet platinum Louis Vuitton gown with elaborate sequin embroidery. She told Laverne Cox that her gown felt like armor and you could see that in the back detail. It was like she was wearing a breast plate. I think the idea of this gown, as shown on E!’s red carpet coverage, was a little better than the execution, but it’s still cool-looking. Cynthia always brings it fashion-wise. When she performed in the In Memoriam segment she wore a darker variation of this in a pantsuit.
Doja Cat was vamping it up in this light blue Versace with a sheer skirt and polka dot sequins. I love how one shoulder strap is strategically down. I’m not fond of her hair, but she switched it up for the ceremony, where she won Best Pop Duo or Group Performance for “Kiss Me More” with SZA. She was out of breath when she got to the stage and explained that she’d just been to the bathroom, saying “I’ve never taken such a fast piss in my whole life.”
She carried a clear purse with Werthers in it! It’s got a bedazzled speaker attached I love it.

SZA was in brown tulle Jean Paul Gaultier with flower embellishments. I’m not fond of brown in general, but I think this is cute for the Grammys. She needed crutches to make it on stage and explained later that she had fallen out of bed the day before. She said “Whenever something big happens to me, something crazy happens too.”
How cute are they?

Tiffany Haddish was in a metallic sequin Prada gown with a bow trailing off one shoulder. This is a great gown for a different event. It’s a little staid for the Grammys.
Aretha’s outfit is what I aim to wear when I’m 70. My goal in life is to wear bejeweled caftans while walking my pet leopard around town carrying a Bellini and throwing off witty/caustic remarks a la Lady Grantham.
Goals people Goals.
The minute I saw H.E.R., I thought of Aretha!!!! Boomer, baby!!!
She looked fabulous!! The ladies looked good, some fabulous!! I didn’t care for the gown Tiffany Hadish chose, but if she loves it, that is all that matters!!
Cynthia and Dona look like they belong in a movie involving sci fi or gladiators
H.E.R. was the best on the red carpet. I gasped when she opened the wings. Simply beautiful.
Eviro looks like she’s on her way to Westeros to ruin a Lannister’s day, but not their life.
Has anyone actually ever heard a a H.E.R song?
“Damage”. “Come Thru” (I despise it because it’s a duet with Fist Brown). “Focus”. She’s got more but Damage is her biggest one to date.
I absolutely love H.E.R. and SZA but I think the former won last night fashion-wise.
I wish BTS would have won. The Grammys never give them the recognition/respect they deserve.
Also duo and group records should be 2 different categories imo.
Cynthia Erivo’s dress gave off vibes of Miz Ellen’s po’teers.
