We now have a full trailer for the second season of The Flight Attendant. I am very excited for this show to premiere on April 21. We get to see a bit more of Cassie’s new life in California, her new man, and her new side hustle as a CIA asset. She lets slip to one of her fellow flight attendants that she has to work once they land in Europe and they’re confused. Perhaps her cover story can be that she writes for a blog! There’a also a quick preview of Sharon Stone as Cassie’s mom.
I didn’t have specific predictions for this show’s sophomore outing. But I wasn’t really expecting expecting clones? The full trailer is below. Here are more details from TVLine:
The Flight Attendant‘s “mind palace” is serving up a veritable 31 flavors of Kaley Cuoco’s titular Cassie Bowden, as teased in the full trailer for Season 2 of the HBO Max dramedy.
Premiere Thursday, April 21 (with its first two episodes),The Flight Attendant ‘s sophomore run will find Cuoco’s Cassie “living her best sober life in Los Angeles while moonlighting as a CIA asset in her spare time,” according to the official logline. “But when an overseas assignment leads her to inadvertently witness a murder, she becomes entangled in another international intrigue.” (Season 2 was filmed in Los Angeles, Berlin and Reykjavik.)
As a sober Cassie (just barely) copes with the latest “spy novel” she has been drawn into, the “mind palace” — where last season she’d retreat to confer with tragically departed hook-up Alex Sokolov — this time is home to not just one other Cassie (her formerly vodka-gulping self), but a total of three alternative versions, as introduced in the trailer above.
In addition to Cuoco (x4), returning series regulars for Season 2 include Zosia Mamet (as Annie), Griffin Matthews (Shane), Deniz Akdeniz (Max) and Rosie Perez (Megan), along with recurring guest stars T.R. Knight (as Davey), Yasha Jackson (Jada) and Audrey Grace Marshall (Young Cassie).
New to the mix are Mo McRae (Sons of Anarchy), Callie Hernandez (Soundtrack) and JJ Soria (Army Wives) as series regulars, while Sharon Stone (as Cassie’s estranged mother, Lisa), Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Jessie Ennis (Mythic Quest), Mae Martin (Feel Good), Margaret Cho (Drop Dead Diva), Santiago Cabrera (Salvation, Star Trek: Picard) and Shohreh Aghdashloo (The Expanse) fill recurring roles.
(I think the article’s author likes parentheses almost as much as I do.) So I don’t think those are actually clones or multiple personalities chatting with Cassie. I think they’re a coping mechanism and a way for her to work things out on her own, much like her chats with murdered mystery hottie in season one. But I do think the lookalike trying to frame her is real! Maybe it’s someone from her past? And the boyfriend is totally shady right? One of those “too good to be true things” is my best guess. It’s almost always the boyfriend though, so that’s probably a red herring.
I’m looking forward to the comedy that will likely ensue as Cassie does her CIA asset work. Something tells me that it will not go smoothly. I think one of the best comedic aspects of the show is when Kaley Cuoco plays Cassie as flustered. The different Cassies playing off each other will probably be amusing. Also, I like Zosia Mamet in her role. She was the best part of Girls, which isn’t saying much, but her character seemed human and was clearly there for the hipsters to mock, and I as a rule I don’t agree with hipsters. The supporting cast is strong overall and I hope those characters get a bit more fleshed out in the second season too.
I will be watching this – I loved the 1st series. I was hoping the hot crazy assassin guy Buckley was in it again, he was good.
Gold Dress Cassie is my fav — I am counting the days until this is released. Until then, long live Gold Dress Cassie!
Looking forward to this. The first season was really great. A successful effort at something out of the box.
I enjoyed S1 and Kaley’s performance, but it got a bit repetitive after a while. I don’t feel any real need to return to the series.
Looks like fun, but it’s yet another streaming service I don’t have & won’t pay for. Sigh. (And I am crazy for parentheticals, as well!)
They are streaming Season 1 on TBS. So it looks like it will make it to mainstream cable over time.
Good to know!
Kaley Cuoco and Amanda Bynes absolutely must do a film one day playing sisters. 🙂
