Margaret Qualley was in Cannes last week to promote Stars at Noon with her costar Joe Alwyn. Qualley looked cute during the film festival, but perhaps a bit unnotable? She seemed like she always seems, a bit lowkey and girlish. During the photocall, she made an effort to keep her left hand in her pocket almost the entire time. But the night before, she walked the red carpet wearing a simple ring on her left-hand ring finger. As it turns out, she’s engaged! To Jack Antonoff. I honestly forgot that they’ve been seeing each other for the past year.
Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley are set to tie the knot! The couple is engaged, a source confirms to PEOPLE exclusively. Reps for each have not commented.
The actress, 27, had fans wondering if the Bleachers musician, 38, may have proposed when she was spotted wearing a diamond sparkler at the Cannes Film Festival last Wednesday. Qualley was in France for the premiere of her latest film, Stars at Noon, in which she stars alongside Joe Alwyn. The movie tied for the Grand Prix at the festival.
Antonoff and the Maid star began dating last summer, having first been spotted kissing in New York City in August 2021. The two went public with their romance earlier this year, making their debut as a couple at the AFI Awards Luncheon in early March before attending the Critics’ Choice Awards — where Qualley’s show was up for best limited series — together days later. She later shared a few photos from their evening with the caption, “Date night.”
The big surprise here is that Jack is romantically all-in with someone who is not part of the music industry. I always thought he would end up falling for one of his favorite pop stars/muses. Jack was previously in a years-long live-in relationship with Lena Dunham. Lena was devastated when they split up, but she moved on a while ago and she’s already married too. The way Jack disentangled himself from Lena should be studied too. Anyway, congrats to Jack and Margaret, I guess. Her ring looks like a pretty simple oval diamond with maybe a diamond baguettes? I can’t really tell. Page Six thinks the main stone looks to be about 4 carats.

I love how Margaret Qualley has such a chameleon face, in a good way. She can glamour up and look spectacular or go low key and be nice looking average person not looking for the spotlight. Her talent speaks for her.

I must be getting bitchier at my age, but I side eye a 27yo woman and a 38yo man. Plus, an engagement within nine months of dating is not very long. Hopefully there will be a long engagement.

Such a lovely simple ring! Not saying it is small by any means (4 Carats…) but it is so much more elegant than the massive costume jewellery-looking rings a la J-Lo or Nicola Peltz.
That ring is 4 carats only if Margaret has hands the size of a catcher’s mitt. It’s lovely, though.
She’s dated a lot of well known men, usually for not long but seemingly intensely: Shia, Pete, Cary fucunaga and out of those Jack seems like the most decent one. There’s a rolling stone expose recently on Cary using his position to nail young women and it’s not surprising since when they dated she was 22. So good for her for not sticking with that one. And her ring is lovely and not so obvious that it screams at you “I’m engaged!” -Although I did wonder looking at her pictures from Cannes. Now I know!
So her type is ‘toxic’.

Her sister is a singer. Margaret and Shia were in her sister’s music video. While she’s not a pop star I bet she’s musical in some way and that they have overlapping interests and friends.
@ twin falls, yes Margaret is musical as well. Did you see her dance in ” Fosse”? Music and dance went hand in hand in that show and she was so good.
