I’m not really sure what’s going on with Vanessa Hudgens’ career these days. She’s hosted a bunch of stuff; she has a few things in pre- and post-production on IMDB, she’s the co-founder of water, beauty, and spirits companies. And I guess she also has a bunch of brand partnerships. Vanessa talked to People about a supplement brand she’s working with and covered a couple of other topics too, including her red carpet style and the dress she wore to host the Met Gala red carpet in May.
Hudgens’ healthy lifestyle has her glowing on the red carpet — she hosted the 2022 MTV Movie and TV Awards in June and turned heads in a jaw-dropping sheer dress at the Met Gala in May. Her dress, designed by her friend Jeremy Scott, was one of her favorite things she’s ever worn.
“Jeremy Scott making that dress for me was just such a dream because it felt very appropriate for the theme of the year — the gilded glamor — but also very appropriate for me,” she told PEOPLE. “I feel like he really sees me and designed a dress specifically for me.”
Hudgens’ style has evolved over the years, though she’s always one who knows what she likes. These days, she and her stylist, Jason Bolden, have been going for effortlessly beautiful. “It’s chic, it’s sexy, it’s sleek and effortless,” she told PEOPLE. “That’s kind of the goal, right?”
I personally, really liked Vanessa’s Met Gala dress. It didn’t reinvent the wheel, but I thought it worked for the theme in terms of the glamour. And since she was hosting she needed to be comfortable. I typically like what Vanessa wears, on red carpets and her street style. (I’m not so much a fan of her Coachella fits, but they’ve gotten better as she’s gotten older.) We’re the same age and I’ve always been interested to see what she’s wearing, and have noticed that her style has been pared down in recent years. So yes, I think she’s nailing the effortlessly beautiful look, even though we all know it’s far from effortless with celebs. She’s been doing less than she used to, but I think her look is still very glam and a little 70s. She’s always seemed to like those hippie, boho vibes. I especially like how she’s been wearing her hair in its natural curls occasionally the past couple of years. We all remember the mid-aughts obsession with pin-straight flat-ironed hair and I think it looks great.

She’s obviously met her goal. You’re right she’s looking really good, all the dresses shown are chic, effortless.
She looks stunning, but sleek? She’s gotten more streamlined in recent years but even that MET dress is extremely fussy. When I think sleek I think clean lines and simple fabric, not froof.
“Old and sick people will die. It’s sad but they would have died anyway” . During the pandemic, explaining why it’s not such a big deal. This is not an exact quote but this was the idea. Cannot stand the sight of her since…
This 💯..Very self centered
Agreed. Not here for the Vanessa resurgence.
I’ll also add that quote was her bitching that Coachella was cancelled. She’s vile.
Thanks for the reminder, because that was awful. Pretty on the outside, but …
She showed everyone exactly how ugly she is. I believe her.
She didn’t single out old or sick people, no need to make things up
Quote:
Even if everybody gets it, like yeah, people are going to die, which is terrible… but inevitable?”
Unfortunately, she’s probably got plenty of company in our youth obsessed culture. Just finished Sanjay Gupta’s ‘World War C’ in which he reports on the Moral Machine experiment of 2016 which resulted in players more willing to sacrifice old people than cats or criminals.
I like the black lace gown a lot, and agree, it’s not an example of ‘effortless’
My mistake Diegoinsf… This must be the Mandela effect in action. In my defence, “people are going to die”? Definitely not the young and healthy.. She felt invulnerable and upset that weak people are interfering with her fun.
The fact of COVID-19 is that it has disproportionately impacted elderly people over 65 years old in terms of death and serious illness.
Why does she have the face of a 50 year old?
She is far from effortless. Everything is very studied. That’s the opposite of effortless.
I really, really like her jumpsuit (or separates?).
I also liked her in tick, tick… Boom!
I don’t like hearing about her lack of compassion or empathy via her publicized idiotic social media blathering – this would include her non-apology ‘ooh, i’m being taken out of context,’ followed by another PR driven non-apology ‘sooo sorry if i offended anyone.’
Her Met Gala outfit is too sheer for actual Gilded Age, and too froufy, poufy to qualify as “sleek.”
