Personally, I didn’t think it was a big deal that Casey Affleck didn’t go to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s wedding? The brothers are not estranged, but they don’t really flaunt their relationship publicly at this point. Casey faced credible accusations of sexual harassment and predatory behavior a decade ago, not that those accusations affected his successful Oscar campaign. Ben helped him campaign too. At the end of the day, Casey weathered that storm by saying as little as possible and, when he did speak, using the exact wording his publicists gave him. While I think Ben invited Casey to the wedding and probably wanted him to come, I doubt either brother wanted to reopen the conversations about their past behaviors with women at this moment. So, at the end of the day, the explanation given for Casey’s absence was “doing stuff with his kids.”
Casey Affleck was unable to make it to Georgia for his brother’s lavish wedding because it appears he had to take his son Atticus to soccer practice.
The “Manchester by the Sea” star’s girlfriend, Caylee Cowan, shared a since-deleted comment underneath Casey’s Instagram tribute to Bennifer 2.0 that gave away his real plans.
“Hey, if you weren’t in town Saturday to take Atty to soccer practice then who would’ve helped the kid who broke his arm?” she wrote. “You’re a good man. I love you.”
A rep for Casey didn’t immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
Cowan’s comment came after paparazzi caught up with Casey, 47, at Starbucks where he, looking visibly uncomfortable, told the cameras he had “other things” to do. A source later told People that the “Gone Baby Gone” actor had to miss the nuptials “because of family, parental obligations at home.”
So he chose to stay in LA and take his son to his soccer practice. Okay? Again, I get why people think it’s a big deal that Casey didn’t go to the wedding, but I don’t think it actually was a big deal. Plus, going from the reporting, a lot of the Affleck family was there! Ben’s mom, his three kids, probably assorted cousins, etc. The Afflecks were well-represented.
Casey also posted this nice message to Jennifer, using an old paparazzi photo of the three of them.

That comment reads more like, “see it’s good you stayed here” rather than he “had” to stay for the practice. I don’t think that’s the reason and if it was? That’s a reach as an excuse. I mean, it’s one practice not the “big game”. But they are definitely feeling the need to do damage control. Which ironically just draws more attention and prolongs the story (which is probably why the comment was deleted). What is with all the PR amateur hour with this bunch? Or are they just not listening to publicists? That seems more likely.
There may have been other child related issues. Since Casey is divorced he may not have had permission to take the kids if it was his time. I just think people are making a big deal about who did or didn’t attend.
Nice that he spent time with his son. Everyone seemed to have a lovely weekend.

I suspect he would have gone had it been in California. All the way to Georgia? Meh. He can go to Ben’s next wedding, assuming it’s closer to home.
What a drag going to the airport like two hours before departure and then flying for 5 hours to Atlanta and then driving over to Savannah to suffer the summer heat and humidity. That picture is such a flashback they all look so young specially the boys.

This has been a months-long circus. I think it was previously mentioned he was with them on part of their “honeymoon” in Europe, maybe the brother feels like at this point they are already well-married and there’s no need for him to take more of his time out for yet another big to-do.
I don’t understand why he didn’t go to the wedding. Your kid can miss a soccer game. It was his uncle getting married, didn’t his son want to be there too? Then he posts that message welcoming Jen to the family. So odd. You only miss a family wedding when you don’t like the person getting married lol.
Given that CA co-parents with an ex-spouse, the wedding was cross-country, it’s their second wedding, + their second time as a couple, the celebration was a formal massive celebrity thing, everyone is well an adult (40+), and Covid is still everywhere… there are plenty of other reasons why he wouldn’t go.
I am weirdly invested in this story. There’s something going on. Could it be that the GIRLFRIEND doesn’t get along with Ben/Jen? Or they invited him and not her and he took a stand or something? I don’t think he missed this for a soccer game.

They also went on her boat and went at dinner at a restaurant (Lainey has a video) and there are a lot of videos on instagram of them hanging out so Casey hasn’t a problem with Jen.
When Ben lived in Brentwood, paparazzi was at his door and that’s how we got Shookus and all his hookups, Ana, Matt Damon, Jlo and her kids,his mom, Jennifer Garner: it was open season for the paps but Casey was never papped there,NEVER.
Last time I hear they were hanging out was when Ben and Shookus were together and they all went to a comedy club.

Idk, Lainey Gossip has video of Casey and his girlfriend having dinner with JLo a month ago. Seems they get along fine. Casey posted another pic of dropping his older son off at college this weekend. That’s a pretty huge life milestone. Maybe that’s why he missed the wedding.

That is exactly why Casey & Leah Remini both missed the wedding! I think that is wonderful that their child came first!
There was some gossip that Ben had missed Samuel’s first day of kindergarten because he was out of town with Lindsay Shookus. I hope that was all it was…gossip.
Interestingly enough, it was also leaked by a ” source” that alot of people thought they should have just had the wedding in CA, instead of Georgia…whether that is a true or not…
