Gigi Hadid quit Twitter: ‘It’s becoming… a cesspool of hate & bigotry’

I have a kind of terrible confession: while I recognize that Twitter is pretty awful under Elon Musk, it’s also hilarious to watch a stupid man spend $44 billion to buy clout, only for it to blow up in his stupid face so spectacularly. It reminds me, in a roundabout way, of that 36-hour period when Donald Trump got Covid and Twitter was the most magical place to be. The theme of “the little people making fun of the powerful on the internet” is the David vs. Goliath tale of our dumb era. All that being said, I respect the people who don’t want to participate, people with some kind of sense of moral integrity when it comes to social media platforms. Gigi Hadid has quit Twitter:

Gigi Hadid announced she’s quitting Twitter after Elon Musk’s takeover, calling the social media site a “cesspool of hate & bigotry.”

The 27-year-old supermodel announced on Instagram that she deactivated her Twitter account on Friday amid the mass layoffs, including the human rights team.

“For a long time, but especially with its new leadership,” Hadid wrote of Musk, “it’s becoming more and more of a cesspool of hate & bigotry, and its [sic] not a place I want to be a part [sic] of.”

She added an apology to her fans on the platform, writing that she loved connecting with them.

“I can’t stay it’s a safe place for anyone,” she continued, “nor a social platform that will do more good than harm.”

Sure. We all know the fall cometh – even the hilarity of “the biggest baby throws the weakest tantrum on the platform he didn’t actually want to buy” will wear off eventually, probably very soon. Twitter is over, we know that. But I’m enjoying the hate-watch. Gigi is not, and that’s fine.

Don’t worry, Gigi. Elon Musk can’t run any business without US government subsidies… And they don’t do subsidies for social media platforms. Musk will lose Twitter eventually after running it into the ground

Twitter was always a cesspool of hate and bigotry. The only difference is the call is coming from inside the house now.

This, plus there now seems to be a clear bias against the sane and for the MAGA crowd (and the equivalent of that in other countries).

“Fighting back” won’t work in the long run, as the rules are now set against us.

The best way is to leave at some point, but already start strengthening other social media platforms by making an account and start posting.

You can’t tell your pals you moved somewhere else once you’re randomly suspended for unclear reasons or for liking a post that makes fun of him.

Im rarely on Twitter, I only enjoy it when Burger King is trending on it worldwide for his pegging.

Yep! I deleted my account the minute this jerk off took it over.

    “BECOMING?”

I like Gigi and she’s looking better and better lately (severing a toxic relationship is good for your health). I don’t think she should provide cover for Leo because he is a jerk. It’s her call, but there’s no need for her to pretend they’re dating. She owes him nothing.

More celebs need to follow. They don’t need twitter. Once the celebs leave, the brands will leave and the entire thing will implode.
