Michelle Williams’s whole life changed with Fosse/Verdon. Her performance in that miniseries is breathtaking, and she won several big awards for playing Gwen Verdon. It also felt like she had fully blossomed creatively, as an artist, with that role. Beyond that, she met and fell in love with her now-husband Thomas Kail. Remember how messy that was back in 2018-19? She actually left her first husband Phil Elverum for Kail. Kail also left his longtime partner for Michelle. It really was a hard-and-fast love story, however messy. Soon they were engaged and she was expecting. She gave birth to son Hart in 2020, and then she got knocked up again this year. She reportedly gave birth to her third child a short time ago, although there was no confirmation other than a little photo-op in New York.
Well, on Sunday night, the last night of the AFI Fest, Michelle came out for the premiere of The Fabelmans, the Steven Spielberg movie loosely based on his childhood. Michelle looked like a blissed-out new mom who knows she only has to stand and pose for ten minutes. I hope she got back to the baby quickly! No, she actually did give some interviews on the red carpet, including this one with ET, where she talked about how much she loves Christmas:
Michelle Williams is gearing up for the holidays after getting a truly heartwarming gift — her third child! The actress — who recently welcomed an adorable baby with husband Thomas Kail — walked the red carpet at the premiere of her new film The Fabelmans, as part of AFI Fest 2022 at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday.
“I really am [excited], I’m already singing Christmas songs,” Williams marveled. “I just bought an advent calendar, I’m so excited.”
And she’s embracing the spirit, gleefully detailing the Christmas decor: “It’s from Etsy, it’s handmade, it’s super beautiful… it is like little ornaments that you’re gonna put on the tree. It’s so cute!”
When asked about her thoughts on the best way to guide a child’s interest and nurture their passion, Williams shared, “I think recognizing the individual and seeing them for who they are. That is separate from who you are or who you want them to be. Really, allow them to be themselves and to to help grow — whatever that is, in whatever direction they want to go.”
It’s cute. Of course she gets stuff from Etsy. That seems very on-brand, although I wouldn’t have thought that she would be the kind of person who would go all-out with Christmas decorations. It’s different when you have little kids though, she probably buys everyone a holiday sweater and makes them pose by the tree. Matilda is…what? 17 years old now. This is probably the last Christmas before college?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
Another talented actor.
If someone tells me they love Christmas, and/or musical theatre, I know we’re going to find it hard to get on! I know. Shallow and grumpy. I’m waiting for the onslaught…
Same tbh. I don’t get wildly into christmas at all – call me a scrooge, whatever haha
Same. So much cringe.
Until I had my daughter last year. Fuuuuuuck now I’m one of them.
I am deeply, and irrationally, invested in Michelle Williams happiness, so I hope she is as happy as she looks here.
And I also LOVE Advent calendars! They are one of my favourite things about the holidays. I pre-ordered a local distillery’s Xmas cocktails advent calendar. Heh heh.
Yes!! Love that you mention Fosse/Vedon here. That whole series is so so great and she is terrific in it. Like she is always brilliant but something about that role just really was a fit for her.
As a young adult, I barely celebrated Xmas at all until I had kids at 37. It’s really a gratifying and exciting experience to be a parent of young children at Xmas time.
Can you imagine making stuff on Etsy and here comes Michelle Williams buying your wares? I would brag, not even gonna lie. I’m a fan of hers.
I thought the same thing. That little quote probably made some Etsy seller’s decade.
Michelle probably missed out on so much of the childhood magic due to Heath’s struggles. She’s probably throwing herself into all the sweetness of the holidays. And good for her
