Thin-skinned fascist Elon Musk suspends journalists’ Twitter accounts

It all started a few days ago, when thin-skinned fascist egomaniac Elon Musk decided to suspend and ban the @ElonJet Twitter account. The account merely monitored and reported Elon Musk’s private jet flights, using public data like flight paths. There are literally fan-accounts who monitor Taylor Swift’s multiple private jets too, and I’m sure there are other fan accounts reporting on other private jets. When the @ElonJet suspension story got picked up by the media, journalists were of course massively critical of Musk. Many of those journalists’ Twitter accounts are now suspended too.

Twitter appeared to suspend the accounts of several high-profile journalists who cover Elon Musk on Thursday night, including Keith Olbermann and Aaron Rupar.

The New York Times’ Ryan Mac, The Washington Post’s Drew Harwell, CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan, Mashable’s Matt Binder, The Intercept’s Micah Lee and Tony Webster have also been suspended, according to NBC News.

Though it is unclear why the accounts were suspended, The Washington Post reports that many of the journalists had written about Musk banning the account on Wednesday that tracks the movements of his private jet, and had also been critical of Musk on Twitter. Some of the journalists had tweeted a link to the tracking account on Twitter rival Mastodon Social.

Olbermann confirmed to Variety that he was first suspended, then permanently suspended and shared that his last tweets were in support of other banned journalists. Olbermann will be addressing the suspension on his “Countdown” podcast soon.

“Elon says he is a free speech champion and he is banning journalists for exercising free speech. I think that calls into question his commitment,” Harwell told CNN in a statement after his suspension from the platform.

“The impulsive and unjustified suspension of a number of reporters, including CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan, is concerning but not surprising,” a CNN spokesperson said in a statement to Variety. “Twitter’s increasing instability and volatility should be of incredible concern for everyone who uses Twitter. We have asked Twitter for an explanation, and we will reevaluate our relationship based on that response.”

Also on Thursday night, Mastodon’s account was suspended from Twitter. Earlier in the day, Mastodon had tweeted a link to the private jet tracker’s account on its own platform.

The jet-tracking bot was created by Florida college student Jack Sweeney — whose own personal Twitter account has also been suspended. Musk tweeted on Wednesday, “Real-time posting of someone else’s location violates [Twitter’s] doxxing policy, but delayed posting of locations are OK.”

[From Variety]

I think this is as Variety reports, mostly about @ElonJet and the reporting about the suspension of that account. But it’s also about journalists calling out Musk for hypocrisy and lies – when he bought Twitter, Musk literally made a point of saying that he was so magnanimous, he would never suspend @ElonJet. This Thursday Twitter Massacre also has something to do with Musk’s claims that the account constitutes “doxxing” (it does not) and it’s a threat to his safety (not really) and that he was accosted by a stalker… except the LAPD has no record of Musk filing any police report. What a f–king loser. Elon Musk is so g–damn pathetic.

Winner of the pathetic thin skinned man baby of the year goes to…

  2. Lightpurple says:

He also popped into a Twitter Space several journalists were having and just kept repeating the same nonsense, then dropped out when they challenged him.

    • Lightpurple says:

He also did a poll asking whether he should reinstate the accounts and if yes, how long should he wait. He didn’t get the results he wanted so he took it down and put up a second poll with fewer options

      • Bread and Circuses says:

And that poll went the way he didn’t want by an even wider margin!

Someone summed the whole Twitter-buy debacle as: “A fragile narcissist bought the world’s biggest criticism engine.”

I think this will financially break him, but he’s going to flail around for a long time before that reality finally bites down.

      • Lisa says:

Also first prize for most obnoxious self-entitled narcissistic and idiotic expression ever. Lord, what an ahole.

    • whatWHAT? says:

he didn’t just drop out, he deleted the Space and then suspended Space for the entire Twitter platform.

he is SUCH a little baby.

  3. Amy Bee says:

People built up Elon Musk to be a genius when he was just a rich maladjusted man.

    • Flower says:

This. I have been saying this for months and the people who challenged me on it are now starting to see the light.

  4. Eff lil’ musky says:

I was watching the Thursday night massacre in real time and it was crazy. One by one journalists and those critical of lil’ musky were getting banned left and right. What a pathetic little fascist Elon is… Imagine, paying 44 BILLION dollars to blow up your own decades long false PR of being a genius. Imagine, showing your a$$ so badly that you make yourself the laughingstock of the entire internet. I’m loving every moment of watching Elon crash and burn. He’s a thin skinned Nazi toddler and he deserves everything that is coming to (and for) him.

    • Bread and Circuses says:

Another thing that happened at the same time, which has gotten less attention than the journalists being banned, is that Twitter began blocking everyone’s ability to post a link to Mastodon on Twitter.

Mastodon is the social media site(s) that most people fleeing Twitter have decided to go to as an alternative.

So random, ordinary people saying, “Here’s where to find me,” to their friends on Twitter were being blocked from doing because Twitter was claiming that their own account on Mastodon was “potentially harmful”.

It’s just manipulative and unfair pettiness from Musk, as was banning journalists critical of him and deleting their meeting spaces.

    • Lisa says:

A face just begging to be slapped.

  5. Brassy Rebel says:

I am doing my best to ignore this person, but everyone keeps talking about him anyway. I have literally abandoned many twitter accounts because they have become All Elon, All The Time accounts. They hate him too but can’t seem to stop talking about him. People! Don’t give him oxygen!

It’s like people who claim to hate Meghan but just can’t quit her.

  6. Happyoften says:

I love this picture of him. It looks like he is slowly turning in to Jabba th Hut …

He burned through 44 billion a lot faster than I would have thought possible. Yikes.

  7. TootsMcGoots says:

I have followed Aaron Rupar for years and I’ve always found him to be incredibly talented and witty, yet widely underrated. No longer! Another Musk backfire has resulted in Rupar soaring in the top trending topics and his name being mentioned in hundreds of stories about this mess. Great job promoting the left, Elon!

  8. Kokiri says:

He also claims he had to ban them because they were posting what was basically “assassination coordinates”.

    Seriously.

He’s hyper paranoid, and hyperbolic. Bad combination.

He’s not that important, but he’d like to be. All flight paths are public, even the president. Surely he isn’t more important than the president? He’d like to be.

  9. shanaynay says:

OMG! He’s such a little biotch!!!! He talks sh*t about everybody, but when someone says something about him he starts crying like a little baby that needs their diaper changed.

  10. Chantal says:

Soooo…when is the fourth estate going to stop with the propaganda and start reporting the truth about this megalomaniac aka Apartheid Clyde? Does he really think journalists don’t have or can’t create multiple accounts? Now this is what’s dominating Twitter & SM conversations. Another Streisand Effect contestant. Thanks for playing!

He’s really just a wealthy version of 45 bucks (autocorrect but I’m leaving it in) with a platform that lets him flex his thankfully limited “power”.

  11. Elsa says:

What a hypocrite. Free speech my azz.

  12. Kirsten says:

I don’t like Musk, but honestly no one’s movements or whereabouts should be tracked and publicly posted; that could be scary for anyone. If people just stopped engaging with him on Twitter and started ignoring him, this would all go away. He’s a narcissist and people’s direct criticisms of him have zero impact; the more people talk about him, the more he thrives.

  13. Kookoo says:

Elon’s paramount concern, above all, is to be well liked and respected. Being knocked off his “genius” pedestal is causing him to unravel and his ego can’t handle the criticism. It’s pathetic to watch. It won’t be long before he is a full blown fascist.

  14. Leah says:

It’s especially hypocritical after he sent the q crazies and his stans after Yoel Roth Twitter’s former head of safety. Yoel and his family had to flee their home after Musk insinuated that Roth was a pedophile. He also doxxed many people with those stupid Twitter Files stories.

  15. Twin Falls says:

Reddit now has a subreddit entirely dedicated to tracking Elon Musk’s jet

I don’t have pity for fascists.

    • Truthiness says:

      Vive le Resistance!

This raging tire fire can’t stand being truthfully covered by journalists.

  16. Luna17 says:

Definitely not the free speech savior all the white dudes claimed he would be (of course!). He is a gross loser.

  17. Being thin-skinned, hypocritical, and ugly on the inside, Musk has achieved the trifecta of repulsiveness.

  18. The Recluse says:

This yahoo got into this country and got to stay because he lied on his visa.
He used taxpayer money: tax breaks, etc. to build his vast fortune.
    And he’s endangering national security.
But it looks like the only ones who will slap back at him are in Europe.
    Ugh.

  19. Jan says:

He was lame from day 1. Trying to piggy back off the name of Tesla (or anyone) is lame and oozes insecurity.
