Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles broke up last November, after dating for two years. They met during filming on Don’t Worry Darling, where… Olivia dumped Jason Sudeikis and started up with Harry simultaneously. Don’t @ me, that’s exactly what happened. Olivia has always been extremely messy about how she gets into and out of relationships, but this Harry Styles thing blew up in a huge way and I still say it will have larger repercussions for her career. I mean, that’s not just about Styles – it’s also about Olivia’s behavior on the DWD set, and her disrespect towards Florence Pugh. All in all, Olivia has spent the past few months trying to be a bit quieter and (I would imagine) trying to clean up the various messes she made in the past two years. That means she and Jason Sudeikis seem to be in a better place these days, post-Styles. They were photographed hugging outside of one of their homes in LA on Friday.
Olivia Wilde and ex-fiancé Jason Sudeikis appear to be keeping it friendly. After PEOPLE confirmed her split from Harry Styles in November, the actress and filmmaker, 38, was spotted Friday in Los Angeles, sharing a hug with the Ted Lasso star, 47, with whom she shares son Otis Alexander, 8½, and 6-year-old daughter Daisy Josephine.
A source told PEOPLE in November that Wilde and Styles, 28, are “taking a break” after they were first linked in January 2021 while working on their movie Don’t Worry Darling, on which she served as actress and director.
“He’s still touring and is now going abroad. She is focusing on her kids and her work in L.A. It’s a very amicable decision,” said the insider, adding: “They’re still very close friends.”
Another insider has since told PEOPLE: “The break has been difficult for Olivia. They have had some issues, but Olivia thought they were gonna work through it all. She is disappointed. It’s just a tricky situation, though.”
Olivia and Jason spent much of the past year engaged in an increasingly public custodial spat – one of the big reasons why Jason was fighting over custody was because Olivia was plotting to move to London with Styles and the kids. Sudeikis wanted the family to go back to being New York-based. So… I don’t know what’s going on with any of that. I hope Olivia isn’t still planning to move to London with the kids.

I’ve mostly never felt a super way about Olivia Wilde, even when things got messy. I didn’t care that she was dating Harry and had left Jason. I never felt a way until that video was revealed when she called Florence, Miss Flo. That was just shitty. It was patronizing and condescending. Best case scenario is that she sees how shitty that was, isn’t an asshole again and can be a more present director and not have cutesy nicknames for the women in her films. That was just not it. At all. Idk, just try harder not to be an asshole.
I just read a book about the iconic directors of the 1970s. Wow. Drugs, affairs, terrible clothes, all-around messiness. And yet the movies were great. Of course, most of those guys had capable, long-suffering wives and girlfriends, working behind the scenes, willing to sacrifice themselves on the altar of their greatness. Women directors have to contend with misogyny, sabotage and jealousy. It’s a lot.

Jason seemed like he really wanted to humiliate Olivia, punish her for dumping him for Harold Stylish. But now that Harold is out of picture, he seemed to have cooled down. Good for their kids tbh. DWD drama episodes are being sorted out one by one – Harry/Olivia break up, Harry/Chris Pine hugging in public to refute spitgate rumours, Jason/Olivia on cordial terms. Look, this was the best gossip of 2022, and just the other day I was wishing she and Harry would rekindle things. But this–Jason consoling Olivia after the terrible year she’s had, with her salad dressing being revealed to be as basic as she is, and her not getting any Oscar nominations and thus going to Jason for a shoulder to cry on–is pretty good. Better still, would be for Harry, who just split his pants on stage in front of his first celebrity crush, Jennifer Aniston, to start dating Jen, with a battle of the older women going into high gear. Oh, would that it were!!!
Based only on that one pic, that hug looks like something I’d give my ex’s brother (whom I didn’t like): all elbows, touching only where necessary.

If you look at all the photos in that series, they just look like amicable co-parents. Beyond the hug, they kept the sort of personal space and body language one associates with neighbours or acquaintances.
