Janet Jackson is echoing what many of her family members have said: Dr. Conrad Murray should be held accountable for brother Michael’s death. With the exception of Jack Kevorkian and a few whack jobs, I haven’t really heard anyone say otherwise. It’s shocking to think that a doctor acted with such reckless irresponsibility as Murray did. Janet thinks that Murray shouldn’t be practicing medicine (if nothing else).
Janet Jackson said Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson’s live-in doctor at the time of his death, is responsible for the demise of her brother, and should no longer be permitted to practice medicine.
“He was the one who was administering,” the Control singer said. “I think he should be responsible.”
Janet said of this past June 25 — the day Michael Jackson died — that she was at her New York home, when an assistant watching CNN informed her that her brother had been hospitalized. She said she then dialed a series of relatives, including mother Katherine, brother Tito, nephew Austin and sister LaToya to confirm the news. “I told them to call me back when they got to the hospital. And I remember thinking, nobody’s calling me back, so I tried calling again and that’s how I found out he was no longer… I couldn’t believe it.
“It just didn’t ring true to me,” she said. “It felt like a dream… its still difficult for me to believe. Its, you know, you have to accept what it is.” She said of Michael that “a day doesn’t go by that I don’t think about him.”
Though he has not been charged, Murray has been in the spotlight since Jackson’s June 25 death, which has been ruled a homicide by authorities. Much of the ensuing controversy has been centered around Propofol, a strong anesthetic Jackson was taking. Murray, through his attorney, has said he didn’t give the Thriller singer anything that “should have” killed him.

What ridiculousness. Murray didn’t give Michael anything that “should have” killed him? Except that it’s easy to fatally overdose on Propofol, which is why it’s illegal to administer it outside a hospital setting.
LaToya Jackson has been Murray’s most vocal adversary. And while she generally comes across as being totally nutburgers, it’s good someone is saying what everyone else is thinking. It seemed likely that Murray would face manslaughter charges in Jackson’s death, however it’s been several months since the coroner ruled Jackson’s death a homicide, and not much has happened. Hopefully that’s because they’re being exhaustive in their investigation of Murray, and not because he’s going to get off the hook. The guy should lose a lot more than his license to practice medicine – he should lose his freedom.
Here’s Janet making an appearance at The Grove to see 100 dancers practice a routine for her next music video, ‘Nasty Girl’ in Los Angeles on Saturday. Images thanks to WENN.com .
So, apparently that entirely execrable waste of molecules that are the Jacksons, are trying to exploit Michael’s death in every imaginable way, and in all fronts. Or could it be that they all have a guilty conscience? Why is it that their beloved Michael wasn’t in speaking terms with any one of them when he died, and hadn’t been for years?
Janet may not be as much as a washed up slag as LaToya is, but she is close enough. No one should be held accountable for Michael’s insanity, stupidity and lack of responsibility. But I suppose that blaming someone for what happened helps them to deny their own miserable behaviour, and allows them to be the centre of attention and appear in the media without deserving it, which has always been the ultimate goal of every member of that wretched family.
Murray should lose his license and serve jail time, no doubt. But Michael Jackson was a grown man who used his money and influence to indulge his drug habit. He is responsible for his own death.
She better be talking in percentages…Dr Murray is only PARTIALLY responsible. He should be locked for his PART in MJ’s demise.
The Jacksons are still fooling themselves if they think WE are as blind as they have been to MJ’s behavior and THEIR need to keep his money machine up and running at all costs.
You don’t indulge a drug addict just because he flashes a few bucks and his star status.
A doctor SHOULD recognize an addict, not feed one!
@mollyb…agreed.
Yo’ Janet – Michael is responsible for Michael’s death. Michael is also responsible for hiring a hack doctor who would cave into anything Michael wanted.
Why des everyone want to pinthe responsiblity on everyone BUT Michael– yes, doctors who succumb to patient requests for drugs are scum; but if he couldnt get it from one dr he would have found another, and another, or bought it online, or used others to buy it for him, etc—
It was Michaels choice to live as he did, ultimately. No one would have been able to stop him.
Slightly similar story with DJ Ams death; the charter (or whatever) is being sued for ‘causing’ his death. That at least has a bit more credibility.
Here’s the thing, if Michael had gone and scored meth or heroin off the street, yeah, he is responsible for his own death. He had people in the medical profession around him who were scoring the stuff for him. Propofol is not a drug that your local delaer down the street has, it is somehting that only a hospital has, along with the thousands of scrips that were written for him by DOCTORS. If you are a doctor, you do not endager the life of your patient by giving them whatever they ask for, that is why most people, who get hooked on prescription drugs end up getting them by illegal means, because legitimate doctors won’t hand them out like candy. Those that do, need to be in jail.
Jackson was an addict, but he was an addict that was grossly enabled by DOCTORS, not by dealers, but doctors, who took an oath to heal and help, not aid and abet. There is a difference.
I agree with the poster who did say he went out of his way to find quacks to medicate him, but then again, that is the fault and greed of that doctor. You don’t supply an addict with the thing that is killing them. Just like a police officer shouldn’t supply a killer with a weapon.
I agree.I have wondered from the beginning why more people dont hold Michael responsible for his own death. If that Dr. didnt give him the drugs he wanted he had the means to find one that would. The Dr. should be punished of course! But people turn a blind eye to how self destructive Micheal was to himself.oops- teehee I just read your post,we are saying the same thing.:] o well.
@ teehee – totally agree. What is the charter that you’re talking about re DJ AM?
Regardless who the doctor was who administered them, ultimately it was Michael’s choice to imbibe all those drugs. If it wasn’t one doctor, it would’ve been another. Of course Dr. Murray needs to be held accountable for his part in MJ’s death, but his death is nobody’s fault but his own. If only he had spent more money on therapy instead of drugs and personal physicians…maybe he could’ve worked on that bottomless pit that he kept trying to fill with drugs.
The entire family was at an anniversary party weeks before he died,Pont Nuef. As for Dr Murray he injected Michael with a drug that caused his death. He was reckless and unprofessional . rather than monitoring MJ he was on the phone with his baby mamma. It’s a doctor’s responsibility to refuse unreasonable requests or demands by a patient if the demand can cause more harm as in death.
@ Sigh: I totally agree with you, well said.
what the problem here? This man killed MJ. I’m sorry Mj maybe asked for the drug, but it’s the med who administrated it. he’s also a grown up who could have choose to protect his patient’s life.
Plus it’s normal for the family to react like that, if someone you care for had died the same way, i’m sure you would sue the bastard
on a remotely related note… I recently saw “this is it” it was incredible… everyone should go see it! the guy still had it at age 50 🙁
On another note – Janet’s new music video is called “Nasty Girl?” What is this 1986?
She’s too repetative with her music, look, style and sound. So …played.
Doctors take an Oath, and it’s a serious one. If all doctors Honored that Oath then this would not be an issue.
Michael suffered from obvious severe mental illness and was an incredible danger to himself.
Administering anesthesia for sleep in return for money is a GROSS and dispicable act for a doctor.
To blame it on Michael is like saying it’s “ok” for our doctors to become drug dealers.
It is NOT ok.
Murray is responsible, there is no doubt. Jackson was a drug addict, and as a physician sworn to uphold the Hippocratic Oath, Murray did, indeed, murder him by giving him a dangerous medication that is illegal to administer outside of an operating theatre.
I agree with you completely!!
it doesn’t matter if he would have gotten the drugs from another doctor, or another or the street or whatever… the fact is that he got it from this particular doctor… this is the reality of the situation, not a hypothetical one…
if a doctor wants to act as a drug dealer, then he should be punished like any other drug dealer… end of story.
Murray is 100% responsible for MJ’s death. He knew the dangers of the drug coctail he administered. He knew he should not have left MJ alone especially after injecting Propofol.
He is nothing but a greedy fame whore jackass quack who should go to jail and have his medical licence revoked forever.
Yes, MJ was an addict but no matter how sick he was he did not deserve to die. I believe that his family should stop being blamed for not intervening because addicts always find a way to protect and feed their habit.
Wow. Real insightful Janet. Repeating what your sister has been saying all along, just in time to promote your new album. Taking money from ABC to speak about your brother’s death in order to promote your album is pretty low indeed. At least your big sister was promoting Mike’s favorite charities and not profiting off of the publicity.
Ya know I am extremely disturbed by the hate I am feeling here. Michael might have played a role in his own addiction but he was not a doctor you can’t blame him for what happened. and as far as having his face out there all the time Well of course he did! without his notoriety and ever so public life he would not have been able to do all the htings that he did for so many. Have we all forgotten all of the good this gentle and sweet man did in tis world. Stop crucifying him will ya! what have any of you done for those in need lately. Have you stopped and gave that poor person sitting on the street corner in raggety clothes a hug or a kind word! Have you even thought for a moment to go and buy him a lousy $1 hamburger and some fries at Mcdonald’s even! Or those standing in the soup lines have you walked in and offered to serve them a bowl! what charities have you started! Every country Michael went to he made sure that he would stop at an orphanage or hospital and see if there was anything he could and he always did something for them. He walked into one hospital and saw the horrible conditions those littel babies were being taken care of in and he said he would not take the stage and perform unless there were new beds and new clean sheets etc. brought to that place within 24 hours now Please people Stop the hate! It all begins with LOVE. Stop this!!
You are telling the truth…..That rotten so called Dr(quack)killed the king of pop….It should not go unpunished….He needs to lose his license…..He should spend the rest of his miserable life in a jail cell with one of Michael’s biggest fans…. I am sorry for the rant but his new ploy of supposedly saving that woman is fake…..I believe that with every breath I take…I bet he thinks it’s gonna look good in court….
There is no doubt that MJ was an addict but Dr. Murray had an ethical obligation to help him, not enable him.
