Angela Kelly was Queen Elizabeth II’s longtime dresser and companion. In the last years of QEII’s life, Angela Kelly moved into Windsor Castle and was right next door to QEII’s chambers. Kelly nurtured her closeness to QEII at the expense of everyone else – Kelly would openly leak stories about other royals and she famously smeared Harry and Meghan for years over the fact that Harry begged Kelly to simply allow Meghan to use a tiara for a hair trial before the wedding. Once QEII passed away, the new king and queen changed all of the locks and kicked Kelly out of the castle within a matter of like 48 hours. Then the other royals were shocked to learn that Angela had conned a spacious “grace and favor” home for herself on the Windsor estate, meaning she was going to have a free house on a royal estate in her retirement. There were rumors that King Charles would find a way to evict her, and it looks like he has:
Queen Elizabeth’s former right-hand woman Angela Kelly has been ‘cut off’ by the King and booted out of her grace-and-favour home in the shadow of Windsor Castle, MailOnline can reveal today. Ms Kelly, the late Queen’s dresser and confidante for more than 20 years, is being forced to move out from her Berkshire house, she has confirmed. Not only is she having to vacate the modest semi-detached cottage on the Windsor Estate, she revealed that her work-issue mobile phone has been cut off.
As she prepared for a new life in the Peak District, 180 miles away from Windsor, she was unusually candid this week on her public ‘Agenthighheels’ Instagram account.
Ms Kelly, 65, poignantly posted a picture of her garden, telling friends: ‘Getting ready to say goodbye. I am moving at last to my new home which I will be able to call My Home at last.’
In response to a friend, she posted: ‘I’m moving to the Peak District just further on than Sheffield so not too far away from the family. My work phone has been disconnected but hopefully you have this one…Looking forward to my New Adventures [with smiling emoji]’.
Her Instagram stories from this morning suggest she was defiant to the end. She posted: ‘I am too old to worry about who likes me and who dislikes me! I have more important things to do! If you love me – I love you! If you support me – I support you! If you hate me – I don’t care!’ She followed that with a Gif of a child chanting: ‘I can’t do negative today. Positive vibes, positive vibes!’
Friends of fiery Ms Kelly, the Liverpool docker’s daughter who became the Queen’s closest aide, feel she has been treated badly after such loyal and devoted service and say she has become another victim of the King’s ‘property merry-go-round’. Many in royal circles expected she would be granted accommodation for life after her decades of service to the late monarch.
She was recently recognised by King Charles in a special honours awards marking the death of the Queen. But eyebrows were raised when she only became a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, rather than a Dame Commander as might have been expected.
But despite – or perhaps because of – Ms Kelly’s closeness to the Queen, some in the Royal Household were suspicious of her, and one insider suggested to the Mail on Sunday that perhaps ‘scores were being settled’. A source told the paper: ‘She’s been told she will soon have to move out. It’s a nice little place on the Windsor Estate and it was convenient for seeing her grandson, who was at college nearby. But the King has made it clear that under the new reign people will have to cut their cloth. The King is clearly not in the habit of providing homes for those no longer working for the monarchy.’
As I said before, when the rumors began about Charles finding a way to evict Kelly, I’m on the Windsors’ side in this narrow circumstance. Their actions are entirely appropriate. Angela Kelly thought nothing of smearing a blood princess and leaking damaging information about the Windsors. She thought nothing of lording her “closeness” to QEII over everyone. She manipulated a doddering, senile old woman and that probably was only half of it. She conned QEII into “giving” her that house in Windsor too. Spare me – Kelly deserves a lot worse than this.
LOL – after this story got a lot of attention on Friday and Saturday, the palace put a rush on a clean-up piece in the Mail on Sunday in which sources claim that King Charles actually “bought” Angela’s new home for her but he did evict her from her Windsor cottage.

The house was her pay off – I wonder if she will write that book she was threatening to write now. Am sure that house came with an NDA. It was always on the cards that Chuck would not only cut her off but kick her ass to the curb – there were stories that he did not like how close she was to the Queen. Apparently he didn’t like how she’d always be hovering in the background when he went to visit his mother.
Kelly was HATED by the family and the household – she was a known bully who was violent to other staff (there was a fight with another female staff member when the woman confronted Kelly over her affair with her husband).

In her book that was out right before the pandemic Kelly made the Queen appear naive and gullible. She also allowed the Queen to appear disheveled in public. She doesn’t strike me as the type to take loving care of an elderly but the type to lord over them. So good riddance.

ha, I can’t feel sorry for this snake of a woman. She got what she deserved. I realize it’s because Charles hates her and not because she treated Harry and Meghan so poorly (but she probably did that to a lot of people and we didn’t hear about it) but I knew this would happen as soon as QEII died. I wondered if she ever thought long term about her future or if any of the Queen’s longtime employees did. They had to know the writing was on the wall when she was in her 90s. I would only feel sorry for them if they were truly good people but if any of the Queen’s aides around her were, we don’t ever hear about them. I’m not surprised that Charles kicked her to the curb immediately, he definitely cleaned house and got rid of anyone who was loyal to his mom as is his right as the new boss.

If Charles truly did buy her a house somewhere, that means she must have had some kind of written contract stipulating the end of her employment came with guaranteed housing for life. I well believe Kelly is a terrible person, but if she was given a G&F house for life, she’s owed a house (if not THAT house) for life. It was part of her pay, and no, it does not matter if the Queen was old and out of it when she made the offer. That’s the whole problem with royalty: they don’t HAVE to be smart, or savvy, or even sane. They just have to be the oldest child of the last monarch, and they hold that power for life (unless they give it up). If Charles wants us to pretend that he and his very ordinary family is somehow chosen by God to be the true rulers of the UK, then the least he can do is pretend to respect the decisions of the last monarch. After all, even at 90-whatever, she was just as qualified as he is to make royal decisions: i.e., not at all.

However, I think it is cruel to boot out an old lady who served for a long time. If she has enough money and got her retirement, I’m fine. Eh. If housing (& a phone) are supplied as part of your job & you no longer have that job, it makes sense that you leave when you’ve quit/retired/moved on. If housing were part of your retirement package, that’s something else again. I would assume these people have hiring contracts, right? Nobody’s getting a salary & benefits based upon verbal agreements? So whatever her contract said is what she should get, whether Chuckie likes it or not, and whether Angela likes it or not.

The circumstances under which she was given a grace and favour home for her lifetime are sketchy and she’s 65 so she’s going to get a pension too. Why aren’t we hearing about the other people who worked for the Queen. Perhaps because they didn’t get a fraction of what Kelly got in the first place? No one else ever wrote a book like she did while still employed.
This woman should have been fired when she was literally brawling with other co workers so anything she received from that point forward should be viewed as a bonus. The chances she was taking advantage of an elderly woman were very high and in this case it was correct to remove her access.
Besides this was a job. The media is only writing this sympathetically because she was a huge source for all the nasty stories about H and M.
The royal family have been notorious for years for paying their staff a low wage and then providing perks like ‘grace and favor’ accommodations when the staff retire. It used to be a method to keep staff on long term. Work all your life for a pittance if you are loyal to the royal family and be at their mercy at retirement – that’s a great business model.
A February 22, 2023 article by the Robb Report “Working for the Royal Family Doesn’t Mean Royal Wages” makes for interesting reading about how low the pay is for many staff.
Angela Kelly doesn’t appear to have any redeeming qualities. However, the royal family creates their own mess (like all the other messes they make….). Pay your staff low salaries (in a number of cases less than living wages) and expect loyalty. Duh!!!
All while wearing millions of dollars in jewellery, owning multiples homes and castles, owning billions in real estate, hundreds of millions in jewels, squirreling away billions in hidden bank accounts, taking millions in bags of money for selling royal access and titles (looking at you Charles!)…. I’m sure this is only the tip of the iceberg. So when staff either get kicked to the curb or may see the writing on the wall when the power structure changes – I can understand why they might try to benefit themselves. I’m not suggesting it’s right but when everyone you work for is doing unethical and illegal things – people think it’s all ok.
For the ‘source’ to say “But the King has made it clear that under the new reign people will have to cut their cloth”, as though they weren’t already working, is par for the course for the lazy, entitled grifters in the royal family – especially Charles, Camilla, William and Kate. Too bad the ‘Fab Four’ (the weathiest of the royal family grifters) have never had to ‘cut their cloth’. They are all entitled leeches!
