When you earn the kind of money most people can only dream about, how do you buy your kids great Christmas presents without spoiling them rotten? Particularly if you’re friends with other wealthy parents who might be planning on spoiling their kids?
You go retro! It’s in this year! Brad and Angelina are doing it!
Brad was taping an epsiode of Live With Regis And Kelly to air on Christmas Eve, and he spilled the beans on what Santa’s going to be bringing the babies.
“He’s got four kids now, so they’re going to be hopping around,” Philbin told Usmagazine.com this morning after the taping. “He got quite nostalgic, buying them the presents that he got as a kid years ago.”
Such as?
“Well, I think trains,” Philbin said. “I didn’t pin him down, I’m not Us Weekly!”
What would the Jolie-Pitt parents have played with as children? Slinkies, hula hoops, Barbie dolls, bikes, building bocks, and model trains.
I think that retro toys would be great for the Jolie-Pitt kids – mum takes them flying on her private plane and dad likes to spin around on a motorcycle. Those are the kind of fun activities that are actually a heap more fun than video games and DVDs.
Besides, rarely are those good old fashioned toys battery operated, meaning they aren’t noisy. If anyone has ever spent a Christmas Day with children, you know that the toys start making noise as soon as the wrapping is off and it keeps going until the batteries are flat. Right through dinner, carols and saying goodbye, the toys will continue to make noise. But at least if you aren’t the kids’ parents you get away from the endless sound at the end of the day.
I suspect that the Jolie-Pitt children don’t have to go without video games, talking dog toys, robots, horses that talk – whatever kids are into now. Don’t forget to buy them Monopoly, I always wanted to have enough siblings to play Monopoly with. I had a little sister, but I could always beat her. Until I taught her how to steal from the bank.
Brad and Angelina, along with Maddox, Pax, Zahara and Shiloh, will be spending the holidays in New Orleans.
