As we discussed yesterday, actress Angelica Ross has told some stories about what it was like to work with Emma Roberts on American Horror Story: 1984. Ross tweeted out some stuff without using Emma’s name, then Ross made a video describing how Emma misgendered her. Hours later, Ross also described how Emma mocked Ross’s voice. Well, after Angelica’s video, Emma contacted her and apologized:
Thank you @RobertsEmma for calling and apologizing, recognizing your behavior was not that of an ally. I will leave the line open to follow up on your desire to do better and support social justice causes with your platform.

No cookies are being given out but I am glad that Emma – at the very least – spoke to Angelica personally and apologized. I also think that all of this is such a “Ryan Murphy problem.” How many stories are we going to hear about the problematic sh-t that goes down on his shows? Angelica said as much in a follow-up tweet, that while she had beef with Emma specifically, it was about “a series of events that tell a different kind of horror story.”
The funniest part? We’re all sitting around & I’m copying Cody’s accent. Didn’t know he had one. Emma then copies my voice & laugh and drops it several octaves. I was SHOOK. She read me for blood with my own words 😂 of course I was self conscious about my voice on set after…

The last 3 years have been a nightmare in ways you are only beginning to know about. This is about a SERIES of events that tell a different kind of horror story. People on here are being unpaid extras whose inhumanity is frightening. Just know I’m prepared to face every demon.

Angelica Ross says that Emma Roberts misgendered her and created an unwelcome working environment on the set of ‘AMERICAN HORROR STORY: 1984’.
She adds that she didn’t report it because one person who did speak up got repercussions for doing so. pic.twitter.com/xQDVqoVa8q

Omg I just can’t with how mean and hurtful this was of Emma. Apology or not, this really shows us who she is. She’s only sorry now that she got called out.
Weren’t there DV issues with her attacking Evan Peters when they were a couple?
She’s a revolting, talentless repo-baby.
Excuses were made like “she’s just intense and so in love”. Typical abuser excuses. I was always side eyeing her after that.
Giving her the benefit of the doubt here, at least she was humble enough to take on board how her actions hurt Angelica and apologise, it’s a welcome first step. Fingers crossed she takes this on board to improve herself and follows through on her promises.
Yeah me too, I don’t see many people apologizing in our current culture so it’s nice to see.
I know very little about this actress so no clue whether she is genuine
And it was done in a personal phone call, not a self-serving mea culpa tweet like, who was it, Candice Burre? When JoJo Sliwa mentioned how she was the rudest celebrity she’d met.
Giving the benefit of doubt to a known abuser?
Yeah, she gets no credit for apologising. She’s only sorry because Angelica made it public. I remember commenting on post about an interview that Emma Roberts did where she said she was an anglophile. That was red flag for me and reading this story yesterday was not surprising at all.
How is being an anglophile a red flag?
@ Lili: Because most anglophiles love the UK because they feel that their home country lacks class, is uneducated and has too many people of colour and other religions. The last part is never said out loud about anyone who’s paying attention can be read between the lines. They deride their own culture, revere the white British upper class way of life and wish they could live out their own Downton Abbey fantasy.
It may not always warrant a red flag however I have seen this play out with people first hand who LOVE British culture and are hateful of Meghan Markle and basically any diversity whatsoever.
People throw benign names around and just really redefine with a gross generalization these days.
As far as I know, an Anglophile has basically always meant (to me at least) that they are super into British culture, enjoy high tea and scones, moody moors and landscapes with sheep, pretty cottages and castles. Etc etc.
Does not mean someone feels superior
Amy bee you are assuming a lot.
Wow, I didn’t know about that comment but that definitely fits.
I’m not surprised that Murphy runs a toxic set – AHS is so misogynist, it glories in the terror and pain of attractive women.
Maybe she’s sorry, maybe she isn’t…regardless, she has the new AHS coming up and she has to play nice. Emma sucks.
ER is at the minimum jerk. Par for the nepo course. But Ryan Murphy gives me off the chart creep vibes. Repulsive.
