Well, I was wrong! I wrote on Friday that Prince William had not done a thing since returning from his big 36-hour “I Wanna Be A Global Statesman” trip to New York. That trip ended on September 19th. It was September 28th before William did a stitch of work again. This happened on Thursday – William and Kate had a meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook at Kensington Palace. Notice that Kate wore her “top CEO” outfit as well – a pinstripe suit with shiny gold buttons and turtleneck!! Curiously, Kensington Palace didn’t publish these photos – they allowed Cook to post them on his Twitter. I’m also including an additional tweet:

Just judging from the photos, it’s clear that the CEO of Apple breezed by Kensington Palace to personally drop off some new, free Apple merch. So much for “the royals aren’t allowed to accept freebies,” huh. I mean, we always knew that was a convenient lie – Kate has been accepting free sh-t this whole time, and the only time anyone complained about royals accepting gifts is when Meghan got some perfume or something. While this is clearly just some Apple promotion, please allow the Times’ royal stenographer to tell you what the meeting was really about:

Apparently, William isn’t really interested in becoming a “global statesman/significant player on the world stage” as much as he’s interested in hanging out in America or hanging out with Americans. People says the meeting was listed in the calendar as being about Earthshot – so, maybe Apple is a sponsor of something during Earthshot Week? I know the awards are shown on Apple TV. Or maybe Tim Cook made a big donation and part of the thank you was a visit with William.

My understanding is that you would work with a large organization like this beforehand and ask them to make a specific contribution that you can then announce. And yes, we’ve seen the Sussexes do this well plenty of times.

THIS. The Dolly Parton invitation immediately came to mind when I saw this. His PR people have clearly told him that the best way to “win” America in his one-sided competition is to be seen with as many wealthy and influential Americans as possible. And there will always be bigwigs who will accept their invitation. They are clearly also targeting Americans who have large social media followings – anything to get their names in front of a GLOBAL audience. Just like the fake Eurovision piano playing. Notice that they made sure to have Cook’s Twitter account post it, with the buzzwords they usually use when they post stuff like that on their own accounts.

Kate is not great; she’s awful. However, can we go after William: Sure they have accepted free stuff. Look at the Royal jewelry collection, watches, art, suitcases, etc,… this family has been accepting free stuff for hundreds of years. I actually think K’s better dressed than her wrinkled husband in these photos and I truly question what Peggington had to say about mental health.
IPHONES are very expensive. Just like accepting bags of cash from a dodgy Middle Easterner, this is not a good look. If there’s no rule against accepting expensive gifts from virtual strangers, there should be. Not just for Meghan.

Is Kate so bad at hospitality that she doesn’t understand how to make her guests feel welcome? To ask if they would like a seat? It looks to me like the guests are shown in one door, quick photo op then shown out a door at the other end? At least the Zelenskyys were offered a seat when they visited but where was the hospitality? No sign of any cuppa seen?
The Obamas are black and Cook is gay. Certainly they wouldn’t want to mar the furniture by offering a seat and certainly the dishes would have had to been thrown away after being used by either of them. I’m surprised they didn’t put up a chain link fence when Barak and Michelle visited.

No the painting wasn’t left from Margaret’s time. Everything Margaret had, including any artwork, was removed as Historic Royal Palaces was using 1A as office and display space for years.
W&K gutted the historic interior, ripped out historic fixtures, removed walls, installed four kitchens (staff, catering, family, and nursery).
The gutting of the historic interior exposed asbestos which doubled the cost of the reno. If they had left the existing walls in place, no asbestos abatement would have been required.
Kate then personally chose artwork from the Royal Collection for their ‘official home’ at KP.

That reno sounds wildly extravagant— at best. So Kate had access to quite a lot of incredible art — and that’s the one she picked to live with. And to show off to guests. Wow. Odder still is that a quick and dirty search suggests A Page with Two Horses as an alternate title for the painting. Given that Kate / they chose the painting in the first place (insert eye roll), did no one in their household and very-much-not-a-racist family have the social intelligence to suggest at least getting up a label with the alternate title? Wow. Just: Wow.

@Blithe – if you think about it, the title really is a minor point (except as a potential clue to the larger issue) which is why sticking a plant in front of the label plate is so silly. Obama wouldn’t see the label from across the room, he saw the picture. And the Obamas didn’t just stop by, they had dinner at KP. In any case, a lot of planning would have preceded the Obamas UK visit and there would have been sufficient lead time to exchange that picture for another one. That they didn’t suggests 1) they didn’t want to; or 2) it didn’t occur to anyone until very late that it was problematic, at which point, it was too late to do anything except stick a plant and a few lamps around it.

@SURE – actually, it always seemed a conscious choice by the Sussexes to let a recipient organization have the privilege of making any announcement themselves, when they want, selecting their own pictures, etc., to draw attention to additional information available via the agency’s own social media. I don’t know if that’s a discussion the creator of the iPhone would be having about early years. That’s basically arguing the need for less phones and their using in households. That might benefit Kate with early years, but it wouldn’t benefit Cook with iPhones.
Have to wonder why Apple would bother; having Will and Kate associated with Apple would make me inclined to switch to Android.
But if that’s what Cook wanted, I wonder if someone else (e.g., part of Bloomberg) got a funding deal from Apple and the perk was to get Cook a brief photo op with W&K. Because I question if Will is capable of managing to secure funding himself.
On a related note – Apple isn’t currently listed on the Earthsh!t website. But there are a large, wide-ranging number of “Global Alliance” partners/members listed there. It looks very impressive, like the organization is doing something important and major. But I still must be missing exactly what they’re accomplishing. Five finalist per year, whose prize is paid out over three years? Ten additional finalists – do they get anything? Same thing with the Innovation Summit last month. It makes sense that Tim Cook would discuss the environment, but why would he be talking about early years? He has no children and he hasn’t been linked to any causes or charities involving children (that I know of). H&M would’ve used the opportunity to partner with Apple to get an underfunded school some tech supplies, and probably involve experts in the field to tackle cybersecurity issues and how to combat the spread of misinformation and disinformation online but these two knuckleheads used it to score some free apple products. Fucking grifters.
I’m just noticing that W&K have the same body. They both get all their height in their torso and have short legs. I think that’s why they both always have crotch issues with their pants.
Speaking of the royal crotch watch (ewwww, sorry!), the hand placement of all 3 of them is almost identical, and looks awkward as hell. It looks like they’re all protecting their bits. Perhaps Kate grabs more than bums, lol.

So, possibly William secured more funding for EarthShot and got gifts for themselves at the same time. Again, William and Kate directly benefit. Earthshot is still all about William’s prestige. I expect we will see him running around during Earthshot week imitating Harry’s commitment to Invictus. Harry’s Invictus is a week long and so must EarthShot. At least, William will be doing more work in a week than he has ever done. He would get a lot of credit if he got apple to sponsor some technology at a needy school, but that’s not how William and Kate roll.
Maybe I’m really out of the loop but does Apple even have a good reputation on any of these topics. Like when I think about companies that care about the environment or their environmental footprint Apple doesn’t really spring to mind. I don’t think they been involved in any mental health initiatives either

It seems like William just wants to meet all these celebrities and billionaires to show he has more influential contacts. Thats why he’s obsessed with America and even trying to get people the Sussexes know or have met on his Earthshot board. Look how he has his “star studded” Earthshot event, or having this or that billionaire backing him. How many celebrities were at Invictus other than the performers on stage? How many times were Archewell or the Sussexes bragging about who may be backing them in the press? Thats not the point of why they do what they do, nor where they want to have impact. To William this is still his one -sided competition. Meanwhile the Wailses make these limp appearances and photo ops as part of their royal duties.
You are so right. And if Pegs keeps on courting Americans, he is going to end up with questions he doesn’t want from the US press…
BTW, the first time I saw this photo on another website, it was a close-up and Kates’s left eyebrow is shooting for the moon and her face seems newly rounded. Overall, though I think she has styled herself well here. She looks conservative and well-dressed and fitting in with the big boys in her pin-striped suit.
She’s better dressed than the ‘big boys’. She’s far less wrinkled & more put together than either Tim or Billy Boy. And I’m never really sure about the fuller-looking face. Sometimes I think it’s the turtleneck, other times I’m not so sure. She’s so thin otherwise.

This is the thing that the windsors and their descendants hv done for a thousand years so of course, next to looting & pillaging, it’s what they do best.
And it’s what they’re counting on to “crush” the Sussexes in this unprecedented but one-side, transatlantic competition, i:e their ability to create a glittering facade and get their targets to buy-in to what it suggests, but which discerning onlookers know is all hat, no cattle.
I agree with Jaded. They should donate these phones to charity. Better yet they should have talked to Cook about donating phones to maybe a domestic violence shelter or some other nonprofit whose clients need phones.

Of course both Billy and Katie were all to happy to pose for new iphones. How very Hollywood of them to do so. Its similar to how celebs back in 2000’s would “pose” with either the phone or the company and in this case with Tim Apple himself.
I know some ppl think Billy is phasing out Katie but I don’t think so. I think he wanted her at events for a while to portray the happy couple image but once he realized Kate’s “star power” was fading he was all to happy to do events by himself. Katie refuses to do events outside of England and has for ages unless she was obligated to. She did this one b/c Tim came to KP.
Kate did many events outside the UK I think William does not want her on tours with him.
I think he still wants the idea of having a “power couple” status similar to what HM are. And he’s not able to do that with Kate still being tied to him.
Queen Elizabeth 2nd was called a beggar and extortionist as well.
William I believe is doing a royal begging tour. It’s actually not uncommon for English royalty to beg. I think Elizabeth father was one of the first modern royals to not beg and that’s probably because he didn’t travel much. Charles doesn’t really beg but he has his trust to get gifts.
William is trying to pull a historic begging tour but it won’t work because the English have little to offer. I’m sorry to write this but that’s the reality. Look at your prime minister and home secretary. Look how cheap Mrs sunak is. Look at the English industries. The English parliament wants their citizens to be poor. What can you offer the outside world.

Reading this headline and then reading the article, my only thought was “Why was Late there if this was for Earthshot?”. Then they cleverly tried to make her presence there make sense but failed miserably at it. What does Cook have to do with mental health or early years. That was the dumbest sentence of the whole ridiculous article. An American media mogul traveled all the way to the UK to discuss with Kate about early years in the UK, when in all this time the only thing she has learned is that they are important… how does that make any sense? Then on top of all of this, she isn’t even going to Singapore, so why was she even there?
She looks more like a prop for the photo- what would she possibly talk about with one of the most powerful CEOs in the world(except clothes).
pretty sure that room with the beautiful womens portraits is The premiere” drawing room for the royal family at Windsor Caste. (Ha! typo and it stays 🙂 This White Drawing room is where the “Closest/ best” family members get to do pictures at weddings and christenings. ( Harry and Meghan did not get this room for pictures; they were given the Green Drawing room at Windsor….another mark against the royals).. Eugeneis pictures for wedding were taken in the white drawing room.

I don’t know if the Green Drawing Room was a snub for Harry and Meghan,(I hope it wasn’t) but it went beautifully with the colours of the wedding party and the flowers the children carried.
Agree @ladyD. The green drawing room had an incredible air of warm sumptuousness in H&M’s wedding photos as well as A’s christening photos.

India is way more next to England and has a ton of rich people. Why is he over here.” I guess William is trying to rope in new rich people. He can try, but once they visit England a few times they will get offended and go home.
