Sia’s been pretty quiet lately. To be honest, I only really follow Sia news to find out which “Survivor” contestants she awards money to at the end of each season, but she has a history of doing good deeds. On October 1, she popped up at the Daytime Beauty Awards in Los Angeles to present her plastic surgeon, Dr. Ben Talei, with the Outstanding Achievement in Medicine Award. In her introduction speech, she revealed that Dr. Talei recently gave her a facelift, praising it as “amazing” and him as “incredible.”
“I’m a pop star that normally hides my face and doesn’t lie about s–t,” she said onstage. “I got an amazing face lift from Dr. Talei. He is incredible. And he is doing so much good work—and not just for the pop stars of the world.”
In fact, the “Chandelier” artist can’t help but rave about the results from the Beverly Hills Center for Plastic Surgery.
“I was showing someone in the back my before-and-afters right before I came on,” she laughed, “People go, ‘You look nice.’ I’m like, ‘Dr. Ben Talei, face lift’ for anything you could ever want. I love him, I can’t say enough good about him.”
As for the secret behind his skills? Dr. Talei told E! News on the red carpet that it’s all about keeping it natural.
“Instead of trying to be creative and make things up,” he shared, “you go back and just learn what people are supposed to look like inside. If you know what they’re supposed to look like inside, outside looks normal. Like, beautiful inside, beautiful outside—it’s also natural inside, natural outside. So, you just respect the anatomy and that’s the easiest way to keep people natural.”
I said this when we were talking about Tiffani Thiessen’s decision to not get Botox, but good for Sia! I’m glad she had a positive experience and feels comfortable sharing it with her fans. It’s great free publicity for Dr. Talei too. I think it’s awesome when people share good and bad experiences so others who are looking for opinions can make an informed one for themselves. At a former job, I was once left to hold down the office while three coworkers went to get lunchtime Botox and they all had great experiences. For two of them, that was the only time they’ve done it. However, one of those coworkers saved up and got a light face lift when she turned 60 and you know? She looked and felt fabulous afterward. To each their own.
While I’m happy that Sia’s pleased with her facelift, I do need to take a moment and address that outfit she wore to the Daytime Beauty Awards. It’s…a lot. At first, I thought it was giving Frenchie singing “Beauty School Dropout,” but now I’m wondering if she brought a smock to a daycare and let a bunch of 3-year-olds go HAM on it. And why the headpiece? Okay, I’m done being snarky! As long as she feels comfortable in whatever that is, then good for her.
I mean yes good for her and that’s great she’s so thrilled with the results, but ehhh she kind of chose the most distracting and sorry but unattractive outfit/headpiece to wear for the “unveiling” of her doc’s work. I don’t really know what Sia looks like because of her purposeful face hiding, which also good for her no criticism, so this is one of the first times I’ve actually seen a full view of her face. I really can’t say if doc did a good job or not, but it’s unfortunate for his award that I don’t think any headlines/social media chatter will be “look how amazing Sia looks following plastic surgery by Dr. Talei!”…
Sia was a really popular singer before she blew up and became huge. I have actually been a fan for years and saw her in concert numerous times BEFORE she started covering her face (that is a recent thing). She looks fuller in the face and that could be because she is heavier than she was years ago. but other than that she looks about the same as she did. Just older. I honestly question if she even “needed” it and could have just gotten some botox and been down with it.
Isn’t feeling one “needs” a facelift primarily due to loss of fat in the face with age, in addition to cumulative gravity effects? She’s 47 — hard to picture what what she thought she needed here!
I thought hiding her face was a clever gimmick to maintain some privacy from media and fan scrutiny (think Selena Gomez’s bikini pics). But that doesn’t go with deliberately drawing attention to her face and story of surgery. And why so gleeful in that odd costume at a moment her surgeon is supposed to be the center of attention? Odd all around
Just realized what these pics remind me of. Hate to say it, but
Jazz hands and gurning, anyone?

I think I see it too. I couldn’t make sense of the weirdly uncomfortable feeling I had looking at the pics but didn’t really think about it any further and your comment made me stop and look again and now I can’t unsee it.
She is a strange woman but I’m all for people being transparent about the work they have done so good for her.
I was just struck with a very strange thought- if you’ve had a large amount of fillers, would that affect a facelift in any way? Like, they pull your skin up, so would the plumped up areas stay where they are? Is that a dumb question?
Dr Amir Karim has talked about this on his YouTube channel. When you have fillers, they never go away entirely and act like scar tissue. He said fillers complicate a facelift and make it more difficult to get good results. And that’s not from a massive amount of filler, he said it can happen even if you’ve only used filler one time.
What the hell is she wearing? She looks frumpy.
I’m wondering if she had body work done too and it needs to settle? Although she’s always had a flair for costuming.
see: her hiding her face for years
If she wore that anywhere but onstage, I’d cringe. Costumes are a separate category and I smiled when I first saw the picture, so it did its job. Did have a laugh at the daycare comment. The difference between magazine/Instagram kid decorated clothes and the reality of DIY is stark.
Isn’t it dangerous to get a face lift with Ehlers-Danlos?
Are we still talking about Sia though? After the whole weird grooming of Maddie Ziegler and her atrocious takes on autism? This is likely why the Daytime Beauty Awards were graced with her presence – she’s essentially persona non grata in a whooooole lot of other spaces.
That’s what I’m wondering too. She is so problematic …
Side note—sia got married this year. her face was uncovered in those photos too. I guess she’s moving away from the hiding her face phase?
