Duchess Meghan narrated a short video for Fisher House & Invictus

The Duchess of Sussex is extremely popular in general, but specifically within the veteran/Invictus community. In all of the Invictus Games she’s attended (Toronto, Sydney, The Hague and Dusseldorf), veterans and their families are so jazzed to meet her and spend time with her. She also does a lot to support Harry, support Invictus and support the veteran community at home and abroad. Before the Dusseldorf games, Meghan visited Fisher House in California and she narrated a video for Fisher House and Invictus. Fisher House provides help and housing while veterans are hospitalized.

As you can see, there’s footage from her visit to Fisher House LA, where she wore a blue-and-white striped Ralph Lauren shirt and a black skirt. The ensemble is kind of mismatched, don’t yell at me! She should have gone with a navy skirt or just a plain white blouse. Anyway, it’s amazing to see Meghan supporting Invictus and Fisher House. That was her first event in Dusseldorf too, a reception sponsored by Fisher House. In her speech, she mentioned that she had visited Fisher House in LA.

So great! She is so kind and has a beautiful soul.

    Love the outfit too !

  2. vs says:

Harry did find a jewel in his wife…. That guy should thank his lucky stars!
I personally love her look; it is simple and appropriate…she exudes so much warmth

  3. Maxine Branch says:

I have a Ralph Lauren pin stripped blue shirt and I wear it with my black Ralph Lauren pantsuit. I think it is a matter of personal choice when you mix blue with black. On a previous occasion when Harry got Meghan on stage while he was making a presentation when she was pregnant, she had on a black ensemble with a blue jacket. She looked great to me.

I love the respect they both have for each others projects. Totally agree, Meghan enjoys the respect of many and it shows whenever she is out and about in a group setting. Together this couple is a dynamic duo.

    • Ameerah M says:

A black skirt or pants with a blue striped button down is classic – I literally wear it all the time. It’s become my work uniform. It’s a very classic look that looks and feels put together while being really simple and easy.

    • acha says:

I legit made the mistake of thinking a dress was navy blue and wearing it with tan shoes, only to leave the house and realize it was black. I think i need to change the lightbulb in my closet…

    • Lux says:

Agree it’s an absolute classic. I usually pair my blue and white pinstripes with denim cutoffs or black shorts for a more casual vibe. Sometimes the shirt is open with a tank top underneath. I’m surprised by how many people underestimate the number of things you can wear with black on the bottom…black pants, skirts, shorts, capris etc are literally staples for a reason and have earned their rightful place as foundational pieces. And no, a navy skirt (unless it’s dark denim) would not work with that top (just saying, not yelling..!).

      • Ameerah M says:

Lol, EXACTLY. That’s the POINT of wearing black on the bottom lol.Not to just match it with black or white. LOL.

  4. ML says:

I love how Meghan linked Invictus veterans to their community and the community to the veterans! It sounded like she had a smile in her voice narrating it. I kind of agree with Kaiser about what she wore to Fisher House, but it’s okay enough. I (sorry) think the black shirt dress would be nicer a size larger—I don’t like the weird wrinkles.

    • Maxine Branch says:

I must have been looking at the wrong pictures because I did not see wrinkles. My question is always what is this fixation with wrinkles?

      • ML says:

Actually it doesn’t matter a huge amount as to what Meghan is wearing because 1. she’s intelligent, prepared and knows what she’s talking about, and 2. Her clothes don’t wear her and she has confidence and sex appeal. She usually hits it out of the park, but sometimes she needs a bit of tailoring.

      • The Old Chick says:

In one shot she’s leaning forward and the shirt pulls because… It’s a shirt. I think that’s what the poster was referring to. A size bigger would have been way too big. She looked fabulous and exuded so much love.

  5. Kay says:

She exudes kindness and warmth!! Love this woman ❤️

  6. Uh oh mumbles mcjazzhands must be spinning underneath her wig about this. How will she ever be able to compete with this! Meg is just such a good speaker and of course she does the work to find out what and how she can help and the people she does this for are grateful for what she does for them. They cult tried to mute her shine but it’s impossible to mute. She and Harry were truly made for one another.

  7. anniefannie says:

One of the 1st things that I felll for in my ex-husband is his voice, he has a very soft low timbre and paces perfectly ( I still have to be careful alone with him in case he really turns it on ) Anyhoo I digress
( waves self) Meghan soooo has that indefinable , low, sexy voice! She was born to narrate

  8. Harla A Brazen Hussy says:

I would be happy to listen to anything that Meghan narrates! She could read me her grocery list and I would swoon 😀. Also, I like the blue/black combo, she’s worn it before and I admit that I’ve copied it.

When Meghan mentioned that she visited the Fisher House, I wondered if we would be seeing a video or photos from that visit, this was more than I expected!

    • SussexWatcher says:

Agreed on all counts. Her voice is so lovely 🥰 And I love seeing her highlighting the other side of Invictus – the community. It’s so great seeing her spending time with the families and friends at the IG and shining a spotlight on organizations like this.

For me the blue/black combo works because of the shade of blue and the white stripes. Seems like a pretty classic combo. If it were a solid dark navy and black together I wouldn’t like it as much.

  9. MaryContrary says:

Great job Meghan. And somewhere in Windsor, Kate is ordering up a black skirt and blue and white striped blouse. Countdown to when we see it on her . . .

    • L84Tea says:

Funny enough, the last time we saw Meghan wear this shirt was while sitting with Kate at Wimbledon–one of the rare (and possibly only I believe?) outing they made together just the two of them. I like that she’s rewearing it and in a sense reclaiming it.

  10. Hummingbird says:

What a beautiful voice she has. Just exactly the right timbre and everything she says is from the heart.

  11. Amy Bee says:

I think Meghan looks great. Harry’s probably so glad to have someone so supportive as Meghan.

    • Sweet-Pea says:

Amy Bee-Harry’s probably so glad to have someone so supportive as Meghan.
Oh Harry knows he found an diamond, when he found Meghan . If you go back and listen to their 2018 engagement video they made before the wedding. His response to one of the questions asked was, “ she can do anything”. That’s why I knew she’d be great at the job. He was referring to carrying out royal engagements for the monarchy . I’m still laughing 😂 at how the tabloids tried so hard to convince the public for decades , that Harry was an idiot ,lol. Since he’s left the royal cage, it’s been easier to see another tabloid lie being debunked . One of the brothers is an idiot, but it isn’t Harry 😂🤣😂.

  12. Eurydice says:

Meghan’s voice is distinctive, but never intrusive. And I like her outfit – I often wear blue and black together.

  13. Avonan says:

Such an inspirational and supportive woman! I’m glad someone like Meghan is a trendsetter. I like her outfit. The bold navy and white is complemented by the strong black.

    • Mary Pester says:

Stand by for princess replicate to strike 🤣🤣.
Megan not only speaks well, she speaks “informed” about everything she undertakes.
The combination of Harry and Megan can do so much good. Meanwhile back in the UK mumbles and mediocre do so much………. Well nothing really

      • Beverley says:

@Mary Pester, Princess Replikate isn’t up to this bit of copykeenery.🤣 She could hire a voice coach and practice for weeks, maybe even months, and still never deliver those lines as elegantly as Duchess Meghan.

  14. Chaine says:

    A really lovely, calming voice.

  15. Bumblebee says:

I’m so glad Meghan is supporting Fisher House.
About 20 years ago, a soldier in our company’s 2 yr old daughter had heart surgery. The hospital was a 3 hour drive from the fort. They had 2 other young children. Normally, one parent would be driving back and forth, or they would be sending the other children to stay with relatives in another state. Instead they had room at Fisher House across the street from the hospital and could all stay together. I was so relieved when I found out. It’s such a wonderful organization.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

Bumblebee, I’m really glad that she is supporting Fisher House, too. At the Invictus Games, they make sure to bring Fisher House forward, but it I’m not sure how much that’s separated from the games (if that makes sense). Fisher House is a great organization that supports the military service members (active and inactive). I can see why IG was a good fit for them.

  16. Isa says:

She has such a lovely voice.
I think I’d like the shirt better with white bottoms. I didn’t quite like it with the cream last time she wore it. But white would make it pop.

  17. Flying fish says:

Meghan looks great, sounds great and I happy to see her behind the scenes work with Invictus Games.

  18. Catherine says:

Sometimes the point is not to be so matched. Not only are the colors not matched but the shirt is more casual than the skirt. We’ve seen Meghan do this before. It’s a personal aesthetic. As an outfit it works overall.

    • Ameerah M says:

It’s actually pretty classic. Striped buttons down, black pencil skirt. I wore it all the time when I worked in corporate America and I still wear it – just with pants instead of a skirt.

  19. Jais says:

Bring back the pencil skirts, Meghan! What an amazing organization❤️

  20. Pumpkin says:

She’s got a great voice for things like audio books, voice overs etc. Lovely to see her supporting a wonderful organisation that no doubt is a great help to those who need it.

    • Mary Pester says:

@BEVERLY, I know she could never replicate Megan’s voice lovey, she can’t even replicate her own voice from one engagement to another 🤣🤣I was talking about the shirt and skirt look, but I didn’t explain myself very well.

  21. L4Frimaire says:

This was such a sweet video. It’s quite remarkable that Invictus Games ended a month ago but there is still this buzz and energy from the games and still stories being shared. Meghan looks like she’s thoroughly enjoying herself at Fisher House. She’s always been very comfortable around old people and loves hearing their stories. What she’s wearing is very low key and workaday, no fashion fireworks, but was nice to see her wearing a skirt. Love the narration and that we’re still getting new info from the games.

  22. B says:

Fisher House does great work for veterans and I’m happy Meghan is using her platform to highlight their work.

Her voice is sooooo warm and soothing I honestly can’t wait for Archetypes season 2!! Now that the strike is over and 99% of the member signed the new agreement I’m looking forward to receiving an update on the status.

  23. tamsin says:

I’ve always thought Meghan has a very “girl next door” vibe to her and that is a part of her that draws people to her. Her soothing voice really touches the emotions. I think President Obama named Fisher House as one of several recipients of the money from his Nobel Prize.

  24. QuiteContrary says:

    What a beautiful video!

Meghan’s focus is always on the people in front of her — not on the cameras. She just seems to know when to clasp a hand in support, when to pat a shoulder. That takes empathy and warmth and a lack of self-centeredness. She conveys that empathy is in her voice, too.

  25. Mel says:

You can mix blue and black. You can mix black and brown. You can wear white after labor Day. The old fashion rules everyone stuck to don’t exist anymore. It’s not even about her but everyone doesn’t have to look conventional because conventional is YOUR thing.

  26. Lea says:

Meghan was a founding patron of Fischer House back in 2019 when she was living in Britain, but the palace wouldn’t let her announce it.

  27. BeanieBean says:

@Kaiser: per Stacy & Clinton, all neutrals go with all neutrals! You can wear black with blue!

  28. Kingston says:

Going forward, with both the Hague and Dusseldorf setting the bar ever higher for future Invictus Games, I believe we’ll be seeing M having a more hands-on role in ensuring the success of the Games. While H focusses pn the vets, M will focus on the family aspect of the organization.

As the world now knows unequivocally, H conceived of the Games and lobbied hard to and for the right people to help him get it started (while his lazy good-for-nothing naysayer of a so-called ‘brother’ tried to throw cold water on the idea.)

Then after meeting M and finding that she’s the perfect partner for him in every way, she took on an obviously supporting role. As she said at the opening ceremony in the Hague, H was up “early mornings and stayed up late at nights working around with globe with his partners to make the Games as perfect as possible for each of you.”

I strongly believe, with many of H&M’s haters spreading the narrative that they “trashed both their families,” H&M will show that the Invictus Family is what it really means to be a family: supportive; loving; giving; fighting FOR each other, not against each other; etc.

If you notice both throughout the brief video and especially at the end, M says: “THIS is Invictus; WE are Invictus”…….. and after the “We”, theres an image of H&M, together, with both hugging a participant from britain who ran up to them with her flag. The important take-away from the vid is that the “WE” is doing a lot of work: WE, i:e H&M “are Invictus (unconquered);” as well as the organization (which mealy-mouthed brits want to assign to the lazy other brother or want to assign some measure of ownership to him.)

And this theme of the IG organization being a Family of which H&M – and, come IG-Canada, also A&L, are an integral part – will be even more obvious. As the Fisher House exec pointed out in her comments about the vid: M is the spouse of a veteran; she has 2 small children; she KNOWS what a family is.”

Methinks folks are making pointed points!

    Bring on February, 2025!

    Cant. Wait!
