Macaulay Culkin was so sweet to fiancee Brenda Song at his Walk of Fame ceremony

The Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremonies are always so strategically timed, have you noticed? Sometimes it’s a little obvious, with an actor getting one in the middle of an Oscar campaign, and other times it’s really touching, like when Carrie Fisher posthumously received hers on Star Wars Day, May 4. Macaulay Culkin was honored with his own star on Friday, the first day of December this year. The tie-in seemed to be referencing his breakout role as Kevin McCallister in the Christmas-set movie Home Alone. Former co-stars Catherine O’Hara and Natasha Lyonne were on hand to toast Culkin, but when it was his turn to speak he put the focus squarely on his fiancée Brenda Song. What a mensch!

Fiancée Brenda Song and the couple’s two sons celebrated the achievement, too, with Song appearing to get emotional at one point. During the ceremony, O’Hara and Lyonne were among the guests who spoke about the 43-year-old’s long career in Hollywood.

During his speech, Culkin thanked those who helped his career before addressing his family in the audience.

“I’d like to thank Brenda. You are absolutely everything,” he said. “You’re my champion. You’re the only person happier for me today than I am. You’re the only person happier for me today than I am. You’re not only the best woman I’ve ever known, you’re the best person I’ve ever known.”

He went on, “You give me purpose. You give me family. And after the birth of our two boys, you’ve become one of my three favorite people.”

“You’re somewhere in there,” he added as the crowd laughed.

While Culkin sat in the audience with his friends and family, he kissed his younger son’s head as Song held the infant.

The couple shared the birth of their first son, Dakota, in April 2021. E! News and Us Weekly reported in March that the couple had quietly welcomed their second son.

“Darling baby!” O’Hara said as she embraced Culkin before her speech.

“‘Home Alone’ was, is and always will be a beloved global sensation. The reason families all over the world can’t let a year go by without watching and loving ‘Home Alone’ together is because of Macaulay Culkin,” the “Schitt’s Creek” star said.

Culkin brought things full-circle in his speech and paid tribute to his time playing Kevin McCallister.

“In the spirit of the holiday season, I just want to say: Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals,” he exclaimed after thanking the people who helped him over the years.

Aw, well done Macaulay. I know he doesn’t want us to freak out over his being well-adjusted for a child star, but gosh he really does seem so grounded in this moment of his life. He’s gone beyond “surprisingly normal” to “hey other dads & partners out there, take notes!” Macaulay found the right balance of being sweet in his tribute to Brenda, but not overly saccharine. Macaulay and Brenda got engaged in early 2022, but they haven’t officially married yet, as far as we know. Their sons are absolutely gorgeous! Dakota, who’s two-and-a-half, sported a punky mohawk with a pouty face to match the whole mood.

I really like the guy, he just deserves all the peace all the joy. I read about how his parents tried to take advantage of him and his money. I hope he gets totalities too. I just want him to win at life and it seems he is

  2. Plums says:

There was a time when he could have been another tragic child star case, so the fact that he’s doing so well now is lovely.

  3. Aimee says:

He was on Celebrity Jeopardy recently and shouted out Brenda in his final answer. Very sweet.

Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals! Glad to see him and his family happy 🙂 he deserves the star for that line alone.

I love them together. Brenda Song seems awesome. Suite Life is one of our guilty watches. My husband and I, grown ass adults with no kids, used to stream it every night, she had such great comedic timing with the twins. “Drinking soda after 9.30 PM!” is still something we shout when we’re getting loose. She graduated from Berkeley!

Honestly, he’s so good in Home Alone and I love that movie (although watching it as an adult means suspending a LOT of disbelief, lol) but his role in the Good Son is what haunted me for years. He was so good as a creepy child psychopath.

Adorable. tHe kids are so cute too, the older one looks a lot like his dad!

  8. Sue says:

It is wonderful to see him and Brenda (another child star) doing so well. Congratulations to all of them!

Good for them both- but I’m particularly happy for her and her post-Cyrus stabilty.
