Sarah Jessica Parker talks SATC 2, Miley Cyrus & John Corbett

These are photos from last night’s New York premiere of Did You Hear About the Morgans?, the film starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant. Much like the London premiere, Hugh and SJP were all over each other. They might be in love. Which wouldn’t be so bad, would it? SJP would leave Matthew Broderick, and she and Hugh would raise James and the cat twins together. It could be sweet. Or not.

Probably because Sarah Jessica Parker has questionable taste, yes? SJP was interviewed for her new film, Did You Hear About the Morgans?, and MTV got her to dish on the second Sex and the City film. SJP spoke about Miley Cyrus’s cameo in the film, which, judging from the photos (below), is a scene in which Miley and Kim “Samantha” Cattrall are wearing the same outfit. SJP compliments Miley as a “beautiful young lady and very self-possessed” and says that Miley is very tall, “like a Viking.” Which cracks me up more? That SJP thinks Miley is a beautiful, self-possessed young woman (who pole dances) and that height equals being a Viking. Yikes!

Sarah Jessica Parker and Miley Cyrus don’t appear onscreen together in “Sex and the City 2,” in theaters next year, but Parker did spend enough time on set with the 17-year-old singer/actress to learn one big thing about her: She’s a rather tall girl.

“I had very little [time] with Miley, but I was astounded by her height,” Parker told MTV News while promoting her flick, “Did You Hear About the Morgans?” “Did you know that she’s tall? She’s like a Viking. I had no idea!”

And while Cyrus filmed her brief cameo as herself for “SATC 2,” Parker noticed that the teen’s stature (which much be higher than her last reported 5-foot-4) was matched by her professional attitude.

“She’s a beautiful young lady and very self-possessed,” she said. “I literally was not in the scene with her. I was in the scene, but we were not [onscreen] together. But she was lovely and on time and prompt and professional, very sweet. She worked two hours and she was in and out.”

Someone who may or may not be in and out of the flick is John Corbett, who was spotted in Morocco around the same time “SATC 2” was on location there. Parker said she “can’t confirm nor deny” that her former co-star, who played Aiden on the show, is in the movie. “It might have just been coincidental that he was traveling,” she said cryptically.

“I can confirm that there is no Jennifer Hudson,” she added of the singer who played Carrie’s assistant in the first movie.

Parker said the sequel is intended to be a lighthearted “caper,” unlike the first movie, which took a dark turn when Big got cold feet at his wedding to Carrie. “It had a lot of sadness in it,” she said. “It was bleak — intentionally so — and I thought rather bold.

“And this is really like the antidote, [like those] black-and-white road movies, or that’s what we hope,” she added. “We’re hoping that it’s fun and light. It feels like a soufflé. We’ve traveled a great distance to film it, and I think we have beautiful cinematic images and pictures, and I think everybody else is really good in it. I’m probably not, but I’ve enjoyed doing it.”

NO! John Corbett got sucked into this mess too? For goodness sake. They wrote the Aiden character out perfectly – they gave him a girlfriend/wife and a baby, and it was clear he had completely moved on from Carrie’s incessant narcissism. Why did he have to come back?!? And why not have a Jennifer Hudson cameo? She wasn’t amazing in the first film or anything, but at least she was some kind of break from the depressing story line. They could have written one scene for her or something, like Carrie talking on the phone to her. Damn. This film is going to suck, y’all.

Oops! Kim Cattrall and Miley Cyrus shoot a scene for Sex and the City 2 where they turn up for a movie premiere in the same outfit!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought the first movie was awful, I will surely never see this sequel but still. Give it a rest.

  2. Miss Thang says:

I had to check after reading this. IMDB has Miley as an inch-and-a-half taller than SJP. Ha! I wonder if that’s accurate.

  3. original kate says:

SJP is my size – everyone is a viking to us!

  4. Jaclyn says:

Hey now, don’t insult pole dancing! It’s bad that Miley did it, yes, but it’s not bad in itself. She’s just too young right now for that!!

And ummm, I’m pretty sure Miley is only 5’5″…not that tall. Maybe she was wearing tall heels too.

  5. CadieBelle says:

I love SJP & SATC no matter what!!!

  6. sg says:

I guess SJP means MC is tall compared to what she thought? SATC needs to stop just giving fans what they think they want, but put their effort into a real story that will resonate they way the series did. Ex. why is Samantha still with Smith? It’s not realistic, and it’s not that interesting anymore. Why not give her a real story, something that the audience can take something away from. The series was so good, and the movie and it seems like the future movie are just fluffy disappointments.

  7. mollination says:

It would probably cost them a pretty coin to have JHud for just one scene, so I bet if they were going to afford her they would just have her in the movie.

I like John Corbett – I don’t care if they gave him a perfect ending, I want him back. They gave Carrie and Big the most perfect ending ever, and that didn’t stop them from sh!tting all over it in the movie. Why not just sh!t on the whole kit and caboodle so I can get my fix.

It’s funny what SJP said about this one being the “antidote” because that’s how the episodes were. Some were depressing (Aiden leaving) and then the very next one all the girls would be traveling to L.A. for a silly, lighthearted one. Makes sense.

  8. Jill says:

I was going to say exactly what cadiebelle said. I don’t agree with the criticisms I’ve heard about the film and I don’t think Carrie is narcissistic. Narcissism is a deeply serious disorder that causes huge instability wherever it exists. Carrie was sometimes selfish, but she probably seemed more self-absorbed because of the device used to set a theme or premise for each episode – “I couldn’t help but wonder….”.

  9. diva says:

I don’t get how Miley Cyrus a teenager fits into an R rated SATC. The oldest character Samantha is 50 and the others are in their late 40s so I don’t see how she fits in. Typically SATC plot lines are for mature audiences only and with Miley Cyrus in the movie it will encourage teenagers to go with their parents and see adult content.

  10. Sumodo says:

SATC and I have parted ways. SJP is a two-faced bitch who is looking for O-U-T of her marriage. Why did she decide to have more children if her marriage is on the rocks? I have no patience for womb-renters. BTW, did anybody see Matthew Broderick on that horrible BRAVO “after-party” show? How closeted is he?

  11. Kaye says:

IMDB says that SJP is 5’3″, but HG is listed as 5’11” and even with 5-6″ heels, SJP is still about 5 inches shorter than him. She can’t be more than 5′ without shoes on. So if Miley is 5’5″ plus the height of whatever heels she had on the day of filming, she probably seemed very tall to SJP.

  12. Goddess711 says:

    Self-obsessed is more like it.

  13. twisted says:

I don’t think Matthew is closeted at all. He is an old fashioned Greenwich Villager who appreciates art and culture because that’s how he was raised. He doesn’t go in for the hoopla that surrounds his wife since it’s so superficial. He’s a real New Yorker and theater actor. You may find that gay, I find it charming. SJP seems to be sporting a flashy diamond ring on her finger. My guess is that Matthew and she renewed their committment to each other after the twins came. These two are a real couple despite what most internet blogs imply.

  14. juiceinla says:

I have never seen her look so genuinely happy in a photo- she actually looks radiant, and it can’t be about the stinker of a movie she’s promoting. I absolutely agree that she is crushing hard core on Hugh….I kind of like them together, I just hate to see one of “Holly-Way’s” longest running couples fall apart.

  15. Popcorny says:

SJP likening Miley to a “viking” was SJP’s way of saying she (SJP) was just an itty bitty thing (more like icky biddy thing -that looks like Woody Allen’s mother).

  16. Essie says:

Maybe John Corbett agreed to the movie because HE NEEDS THE MONEY and Jennifer Hudson didn’t agree to the movie because she is in demand and DOESN’T NEED THE MONEY!!! It’s as simple as that.

And, thanks Twisted . . . I’m sick of people calling Matthew Broderick “gay” when they have no idea. He is a New Yorker, born and raised, in a family of artists. The culture of NY is in his soul and he is more real than all these Hollywood bitches!!! I love him and wish he would do more movies but I understand that he prefers the stage.

Also, I agree that Miley Cyrus is self-possessed and a very nice young lady. Unfortunately, I think she needs to hone her image a bit before things get out of hand. She is not a “pole dancer.”

  17. Tiffany says:

    Essie,

I remember reading an interview John Corbett did a couple of years after “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” came out. He said that he did not take his check upfront but agreed to a percentage of the profits. That is still the highest grossing indie right now, so he does not need the cash. He wanted to focus on his music (chuckle). But I can bet that they backed up the truck to get him there, this movie is going to need drama and he is going to bring it. Someone has been reading the blogs about wanting him in the movie. I liked it when they brought him back in the series and he was buff and reminded Carrie that she messed up and did not walk on water anymore and even better when he wanted his money back for the apartment. Can’t believe that woman was shocked when that happened. Happy that the writers gave a realistic story to the ending of that relationship.
