Tom Brady was part of a press conference on Thursday for the New England Patriots. Of course, he was asked a lot of questions about his newborn son, and his wife Gisele. Here’s the thing – while I don’t hate Tom Brady, I do find him a bit douchey. So that could contribute to why I find his responses a little narcissistic. When asked about how he and Gisele were doing post-birth, Tom said “I’m glad it’s over.” Like the whole thing was so hard on him, right?
Gisele Bundchen and husband Tom Brady’s son turned one week old on Tuesday — and if the baby has been given a name, his supermodel Mommy and quarterback Daddy have yet to make it publicly known.
At a press conference Wednesday, Brady 32, confirmed that all has been well in his household since his son’s arrival. “It’s good, it’s good,” he said. “I’m glad it’s over.”
Like most parents of a newborn, the New England Patriots player revealed that he’s a bit sleep-deprived as he and Bundchen, 29, settle into the post-pregnancy, post-birth routine. “Trying to get back to my normal sleep schedule, which I’m sure, for all of us parents, is a little tough, but it’s coming.” (Brady has a two-year old son, John, with his ex Bridget Moynahan.)
Brady recently told WEEI Sports Radio that he and his wife of 10 months “thought we had a name picked out.” Two days before the boy’s Dec. 8 birth, though, Bundchen changed her mind. “She said, ‘I don’t like that name anymore.”

I’m being nit-picky, I know. But Tom still comes across as douchey to me. On another note, I can’t believe this baby doesn’t have a name yet. I do think it’s funny when new parents can’t agree on a name for days – it’s like, “Is this really your biggest worry?” You know this kid is going to end up with some insane Brazilian name that no one in America can pronounce. Like Zhay-Zoose Loose. Just kidding!
In just one more piece of news, In Touch Weekly is reporting the big “scoop” that Gisele wants lots and lots of babies. Gee, that’s going to be so hard on Tom! In Touch’s source claims Gisele really wanted a girl, and has already made up her mind to get pregnant again very soon: “This baby is only the start. Gisele wants at least five or six little Bradys running around the house, and she jokes that she’s going to have so many kids that it will be a real-life version of The Brady Bunch! Gisele will raise her family between Boston, LA and Brazil.” Yeah… I’d like to hear what Tom has to say about six kids.
see, the thing is this is tom’s first real foray into parenthood. he wasn’t the one who endured the sleepless nights and messed-up schedule when his first son was born. his ex was on her own with that one. now he’s in the thick of it, and he’s a whiny brat about it all. sheesh. grow a pair, buddy. i mean, it’s obvious you have the equipment. try using it for something other than making babies. quit your bellyaching and man up, for pity’s sake.

Though I agree this guy seems to be an ass I think his comment has been misunderstood, it was Kaiser who added the hard on him part. All he said was he was glad it was over. I don’t know about the rest of you but I was damn happy it was over too once I popped my kid out and so was my husband. It’s very stressful waiting to give birth and find out whether or not your baby it healthy. Even though all the newborn stuff is hard I still rather my baby out then in!
But he is crazy if he thinks he’s back on his sleep schedual with a 1 week old. Ya he most definately is not the one getting up and help so I think she’s insane if she plans on having a bus load of kids with this man!

Oh, dear. The guy answered a question and everybody dumps on him. How odd!! It’s obvious the reporter was asking about Tom and how much sleep he is getting because he is the quarterback his team and this is the middle of the football season and rest is important to a player. Whatever!!
And, Kaiser, both Tom and Gisele have said they want a “large” family. I think Tom has several older sisters and Gisele is from a family of seven girls. Saying she wants a big family is nothing new. Gisele has been saying the same thing since she got engaged to Tom.

@Tiki – that’s exactly what I thought! He didn’t have to deal with any of this with his first son, Bridget did it all on his own. I wish the best for the baby…but kind of hoping he’s colicky…just to give Tom and Gisele a real run for their money! There is something I don’t understand. Did Bridget Moynihan get pregnant on purpose? I am NOT defending Tom, believe me. I think HE is a bigger baby than the infant! But it seems weird to me that an actress/model at that age would accidentally get pregnant. I do realize accidents happen, but usually because people do not have access to the Pill. I always wondered about that. In any case, Tom is one of the least enthusiastic dads I have seen. And I, too, hope Gisele was a bitch on wheels to him.

I think these comments are a little harsh…. My sister-in-law is having a difficult pregnancy. It has been hard for her and for my brother, but I feel she is handling the stress better than he is… Stressed doesn’t begin to explain his behavior, he’s in self professed “crazy dad mode, hovering over her like a helicopter”. He seems to be feeling violently overprotective and has described himself as “willing to shank” anyone who accidentally bumps into his wife. They’re both ready for the pregnancy to be over. So I understand Tom saying the pregnancy was hard. Pregnancy can be really hard on either parent, there are a lot of emotions and potential complications, and when the baby comes of course there is relief that the child is healthy and out all in one piece.
Tom has a really nice smile and is a pleasure to look upon!

I don’t doubt that a messed up sleeping schedule is hard for anyone, but especially a professional athlete towards the end of their season. But pregnancy doesn’t just fall out of the sky, it is possible to plan a little bit! Considering the football season is roughly 3-4 months long, I think I’d do my best to try to time it a little better.
I don’t think he said anything wrong. It’s definitely reaching to call him names just for saying he’s glad the baby is here, and all the waiting and nervousness is over. By all accounts Tom is a very nice guy, why are people beating him up here? And as for Bridget, they had already broken up and she turned up pregnant later. I don’t think the fact that he didn’t go back to someone he wanted to end things with just because she turned out to be pregnant is a bad thing, it’s a good thing. It’s not like he left her while pregnant like some people are trying to make it out to be. That was never said by either party- even BRidget never claimed that!

WTF? He never said it was hard on him. He said he was glad it was over, but never even said he was glad the pregnancy was over, just “it”. He could have meant the waiting, or the labour.
As for the name, give them a break. Lots of parents have a hard time with a name.
They could if they chose hire a night nanny which by all accounts they haven’t done and are missing sleep. Do they not get credit for normality?

Tom has joint custody of his son with Bridgett and he sees the kid often, both in California and in Boston. He seems to be a doting daddy. Leave the guy alone.
And the new baby’s name is Benjamin.

Gisele’s announcement today was equally narcissistic. She didn’t say “we”. It was all “I”. Birds of a feather, yay. But the douchiest announcement has got to be Bridget’s. Half-sibling? What a crappy thing to say.
I always thought he was gorgeous, and then I saw him on SNL. As soon as his mouth opened, he turned into Baby Huey for me.
Why wouldn’t Brady be glad that the pregnancy is over and he has a healthy son?
Sleep is very important if you are a world class athlete and the most important player of one of the world’s best teams. He can’t afford to have sleepless nights, it will affect his playing.

I went to college with Tom, and sort of hung in the same “crowd”. He’s a douche, no doubt about it. 😉 You’d think I’d be proud of the guy, but seeing as he played second string three out of his four years at U of M, and acted like he owned the campus, I’m really well…not. Plus, I can’t stand Giselle. She’s stupid, flaky, and just plain irritating. The fact that she makes ass-backwards comments about Bridget while pretending to be loving “step-mommy” just makes me want to gag. They both need to get over themselves.

You are overreacting to what he said. I heard the interview live. He does not like to talk about his personal life so he throws in one liners. For all we know Gisele’s health could have been bad. Is it not stressful for a husband if their wife is not healthy or feeling bad?You do not have to carry a baby to be glad when the baby is born and everyone is healthy.
