Ali Wong was a standout at the SAG Awards in Iris van Herpen

Ali Wong has been killing it sartorially and professionally this awards season. She took home a SAG on Saturday night night for actress in a Television Movie or Limited Series for her work in Beef. Her costar, Steven Yeun, won for actor!) Ali really stood out on the red carpet in this phenomenal Iris van Herpen gown featuring diamond accents attached to funnel-shaped cuff sleeves that fell in a fountain-like pattern. This dress was stunning on the carpet. She told Laverne Cox that she arrived in a Sprinter van, which I’m assuming was to give her enough space to protect the gown. The sleeves were removed when she was at the ceremony and accepted her award. Ali thanked her mom, who was there with her and it was her birthday too. Her boyfriend, Bill Hader, wasn’t there despite being nominated.

Laverne Cox was in an Alexander McQueen 1996 Bolero jacket and vintage choker from Galliano – from her own collection. I love that she is mining her wardrobe for red carpet outfits. She’s had some of the pieces she’s worn lately for over 30 years.

Kathryn Hahn was nominated in Ali’s category, for Tiny Beautiful Things. She wore a kind of sad white Givenchy with a slouchy black bandeau across the front and black mesh glove sleeves. Her hair and makeup were so pretty. To be fair to Kathryn her whole vibe is that she does not GAF and she really pulls that off. She looks completely comfortable and I respect that.

Joey King also wore Givenchy and unlike Kathryn her hair and makeup people did her dirty. These gowns look so slapped together.

Naomi Watts wore a lovely Dior black gown with a sheer skirt and top with floral embellishments. She presented the In Memoriam segment, which was very well done. I love to see her on the carpet with her husband, Billy Crudup, and I am rooting for them.

LOVE Ali’s dress. Billy Crudup looks like he still can’t believe he’s married to Naomi Watts.

Ali’s dress looks cool but it’s giving me bad vibes from the time I dressed as a peacock for Halloween and I could barely mingle or maneuver through any parties because the tail was sticking out two feet on either side of me.

I hate those stupid see through gloves. Anne Hathaway is evolving into Amal Clooney. I hate Ali Wong’s glasses. My first pair of glasses in fourth grade circa 1994 were in that style. I can not believe the big round glasses are back. WHY. Remember making fun of our moms for wearing them in the 80s?! I just do not understand. Never will I wear that style ever again in my life.

I LOVE Joey King’s Givenchy, the skirt is so pretty, but I hate the gloves and I hate her hair. Are those claw headbands back??? Please say no.

Kathryn Hahn’s hair and makeup are pretty, not super formal but works for her.

Laverne Cox looks great and I love how the gold on her jacket and skirt work with the gold SAG lettering.

I thought the exact same thing re: Joey King’s headband. Migraine trigger to the Nth degree! I wondered at first if those teeny-tiny butterfly clips (like I wore to my prom in *cough* 1999 *cough*) were in play, since they’re apparently trendy again. One of my friend’s daughters asked me how to use them because she got some at Claire’s. I all at once felt young AND geriatric. lol

Ali Wong’s dress is LIFE! I love it. I love every single thing about it. Zero notes. Love her glasses, too.

Laverne Cox was MADE for vintage McQueen. She is a goddess.

Has Ali Wong been to the Met Gala before? I feel like she definitely should with the styles she picks out. That is quite a dress.

The only standout for me is Ali Wong. I love a good Iris Van Herpen moment and I like that she had the guts to wear it. Like Laverne’s vintage moment. Everyone else feels a bit boring – especially Kathryn Hahn. Everything just feels DGAF. And not in the cool way.

Ali looks incredible. My God. I adore her, she is a tremendously talented comedian but has also demonstrated skill in dramatic roles too — the sign of a great actor. The garment is a showstopper. Iris always delivers! I am so obsessed with this look. The dress… The drama… The styling… The decals on her chest… No notes. She’s my best-dressed of the night, with Brie Larson not far behind.

I think I would have liked Laverne’s look better if there wasn’t so much going on. Between the bolero and the design, my eyes don’t know what to look at first. Makeup is great though and I love the extreme braid.

I really like Naomi’s dress too!

Iris is one of my favorite designers! Her designs are always next level. Glad to see more big name actors are wearing her. If you havent been to her Instagram, go! She has some amazing videos of her entire creation process.
