More than a week ago, TMZ got the tip that Anna Wintour had sent separate Met Gala invitations to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, but they both decided to skip this year. Travis has never been to a Met Gala, which is a shame because the man loves fashion. Taylor hasn’t attended a Met Gala since 2016, that chaotic year where she seemingly started up with Tom Hiddleston. The 2016 Met Gala actually led into the Summer of Tiddles, what a joyous time that was. Anyway, yesterday, Page Six claimed that their sources were telling them that Taylor changed her mind and decided to attend this year’s Met Gala solo. That Page Six report was swiftly shut down by People Mag:
Taylor Swift is skipping the 2024 Met Gala, PEOPLE can confirm.
Despite reports that she would be attending, the singer, who just dropped her Tortured Poets Department album on April 19, is sitting out fashion’s biggest night. Instead, she’ll be focusing on rehearsals and tour prep ahead of her Eras Tour dates picking back up on May 9 in Paris before traveling all over Europe during the spring and summer.
The Met Gala, which always takes place on the first Monday in May, will be held on May 6, which would have been a tight squeeze ahead of the tour for Swift, 34.
Yeah, Taylor skipping the gala always made sense from a scheduling perspective. But I still say that she’s avoiding the gala this year – and has avoided the gala for the past seven years – because the Kardashian-Jenner clan comes out in full force.
Meanwhile, Taylor joined Travis in Las Vegas this past weekend. She was Travis’s plus-one at the Mahomies Foundation Golf Classic gala, and reportedly Taylor also attended the charity golf tournament too. Travis also referred to Taylor as his “significant other.”

Anna Wintour is an awful human who aligned the “social event of the year” with reality stars and B-list (and under) celebrities. A lot of A-list celebrities have been low key avoiding the Met Gla for years.
Yeah she really did start to let in, I don’t know how to put this nicely lesser celebrities and now even influencers for heaven sakes of course someone of Taylor’s standing isn’t’ going to go. It is for nobodies now.

I don’t understand why Taylor is acting like this. We live in the age of jetliners. She can easily hop on a plane and travel to NY for the Met Gala. This is a big disappointment for her fans everywhere. I am pretty sure Travis would have been happy to also attend the Fashion event of the year with his “significant other”. There are tacit responsibilities that come with stardom and this is one of them. Taylor and Travis are the hottest couples of the moment and I do feel a bit letdown.

This is pretty simple isn’t it, Wintour kind of sided with Kanye and the Kardashians and lifted their image by putting them on the cover of her magazine, and Taylor is extraordinarily petty and punishes people who diss her for decades (if she isn’t also still writing songs about them), so I think she’s gonna keep dissing the Met gala until Kardashian is uninvited.
