I remembered the name Sean Avery but it’s been so long, so I had to look up his Wiki page. It is absolutely bonkers, especially when you get to all of the stupid incidents he was involved with during his pro hockey career, not to mention his history of being abusive towards women. The man sounds like a huge, gross meathead. So, yeah, Sean Avery is a now-retired NHL star who dated a lot of famous women when he was a big hockey star. I literally haven’t heard anything about him in years. But over the Memorial Day weekend, Avery was seen out and about with Mary-Kate Olsen. They were in the Hamptons, checking out The Row store and then hanging out with Andy Cohen. MK’s people immediately rushed to People Magazine to say that MK and Avery are not dating, they’re just old friends.
Is Mary-Kate Olsen rekindling a romance with former NHL star Sean Avery? The 37-year-old fashion designer was spotted enjoying time with Avery, 44, in New York’s the Hamptons over Memorial Day weekend, in photos published by DeuxMoi. The duo stopped by the new The Row store in Amagansett (Olsen heads The Row, a luxury fashion line, with her twin sister, Ashley) and later visited their friend Andy Cohen.
For their outing, Olsen wore a red tunic and a brown jacket. She also bundled up with a scarf and beanie and added a pair of sunglasses. Avery kept it casual in grey joggers, a black hoodie and backwards baseball cap.
While their Hamptons weekend sparked romance rumors, an insider confirms to PEOPLE that Olsen and Avery are just friends.
“Mary Kate and Sean have known one another for years,” the source tells PEOPLE. “They have been in the same social circles in NYC and share many mutual friends.”
The insider added, “They spend their summers in the Hamptons, and hang out with the same crowds.”
Olsen and Avery were romantically linked in 2007 but never confirmed a relationship. The two remained friends, however, and were last pictured together in 2011 at an event in New York City.
This feels like such vintage gossip, right? A throwback to a time when the Olsen twins were more visible and regularly hung out with a wide variety of celebrities. And being seen out together in the Hamptons is giving me a vintage feel too – the possibility of a hard launch during a Memorial Day weekend in the Hamptons. Anyway, since MK split with Olivier Sarkozy during the pandemic, there hasn’t been much gossip about her love life. MK and her sister are pretty discreet, so I don’t have a vibe on whether there’s something here. Looks and feels like a hard launch, but who knows.

Oh no not Sean Avery who used to play hockey for the NY rangers. He has some very bad anger issues. She can do better.
One and the same. And speaking as a Rangers fan, I really, really don’t like Sean Avery. I’d toss him in the same dump heap as Tony D’Angelo.
The fact that she felt the need to deny it makes me think there’s nothing going on. If there were she would just quietly date him like she did Sarkozy and other BFs for years.
