The ‘Wolfs’ trailer is here: Brad Pitt & George Clooney reunite as bumbling fixers

When Tom Wilkinson passed away at the end of 2023, I hoped it would spur a revival of Michael Clayton, arguably one of Wilkinson’s most underrated performances. It’s such a good movie overall, with fantastic performances by George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, Sydney Pollack, etc. In the movie, Clooney plays a high-level fixer, a problem-solver for hire who comes in and “fixes” things when, say, a CEO kills someone while driving drunk or what have you. I bring this up because writer-director Jon Watts basically borrowed the idea of “Clooney playing a fixer” and turned it into a buddy/odd-couple action-comedy costarring Brad Pitt. As much as I want to believe that Pitt is persona non grata with much of Hollywood, I’m just lying to myself. Hollywood still likes Pitt and they still give him these kinds of leading-man roles. Here’s the first trailer for Wolfs:

I mean… if the Pitt role was recast with someone I actually enjoyed (Clive Owen), I would genuinely be into it. I love an enemies-to-coworkers storyline. I love when shenanigans ensue. I love Amy Ryan. But it’s too late to recast it now. My only hope is that audiences don’t actually want to see two 60-something men doing this cutesy stuff. Also: the younger guy is Austin Abrams, who has been a TV/streaming actor for a while. He looks like he’s doing a lot of the heavy lifting, right??

Who wants this? This is like the Grumpy Old Men franchise from my childhood. Those movies were more for my grandparents than me.

  2. Renee' says:

Clooney will always cape for Pitt. He always has….

  3. Jais says:

    Nope. No thank you.

I hate to admit this but BP made me snort laughed at the getting hit by the car scene. I love these types of movies and I love George Clooney, but I won’t be watching it.

    • Danbury says:

Honestly me too. Now imagine Pedro Pascal or Andrew Scott in this role instead of gross Brad Pitt. It would be perfect.

    • SarahCS says:

Yep, and me. Cast someone who doesn’t have a known history of being violently abusive and I’d absolutely watch this.

  5. Naw not going to this. Would rather go to new Wolverine/Deadpool movie.

Dam, i kinda really would wanna watch this just for Austin Abrams!! Hes been in so many good things, like The Americans, The walking dead, This is us, Euphoria and that fun netflix teen comedy Do revenge.

But havent enjoyed Brad or George in ages, so kinda sad.

This is pathetic and thirsty. Trying to recapture the Ocean’s films magic – only now both Danny and Rusty are old and Rusty is an abuser who had too much work done to his face. Hard pass. I would watch this if Pitt weren’t in it- and it would probably be a better film that doesn’t feel like a retread of what came before it.

  8. Kane says:

Brad Pitt isn’t an action star. He does place himself in well crafted movies. I think that’s why Clooney ALWAYS GRAbs him. Pitt has a good eye for films.

This movie looks like a real movie. I can see myself getting tired of Pitt. He is still trying to imitate his two idols but it just doesn’t work. Brad Pitt looks like a guy who doesn’t do manual labor. I would hire Angelina to be my fixer over him. Lol.

As much as I hate to admit it, this movie looks entertaining and good.

  11. Silver Birch says:

I want to see this movie, but I want Angelina Jolie to be the “fixer” with Clooney instead of that asshole Pitt.

  12. therese says:

I’m so allergic to Pitt now that I couldn’t/didn’t watch the trailer.

  13. Lili says:

funny i always fall asleep in Clooney Movies

  14. Veronica S. says:

The characters’ last name better be Wolf, otherwise the title is going to give me an aneurysm.

  15. Fruity Scent says:

Syriana is George’s best film to date, IMO. Agree Angie would be a good replacement for Pitt in this film.

  16. Vee says:

I’ll stream it on a lazy afternoon.

  17. Mcmmom says:

Pass. I usually like Clooney, but he looks like he needs an Advil and Pitt is a chump.

Now, “Hitman,” on the other hand (speaking of Glen Powell) is getting really good reviews.
