Emma Stone wore Louis Vuitton to the ‘Kinds of Kindness’ NYC premiere

I know Yorgos Lanthimos’ films are not for everybody, but I enjoyed the hell out of Poor Things. It was funny and weird and Emma Stone actually deserved the Best Actress Oscar for it. (If you want to argue about it, Emma didn’t deserve the Oscar for La La Land.) While Emma was promoting Poor Things last year and during the award season, she did so knowing that she had already wrapped on another Lanthimos film, Kinds of Kindness. It premiered at Cannes, and it is getting a limited release today in theaters in North America. I still don’t really know what the f–king film is about, other than it’s multiple stories and maybe they’re interconnected? Something about a cult leader and there’s body-horror. Lanthimos’ work is not for everyone.

Anyway, there was another premiere event last night in New York. The East Coast has been having a major heat wave this week, so I’m shocked that Emma Stone wore a long-sleeved dress from Louis Vuitton. I’m also surprised that I like the dress and Emma’s styling here, I just think this would have been more suited to an autumn premiere. Margaret Qualley is in the film too and she wore Chanel to the premiere. Jesse Plemons won Best Actor at Cannes, and he attended with his wife Kirsten Dunst.

Months ago, Emma Stone said in an interview that she hopes she’s famous and accomplished enough for people to start referring to her by her real name, her birth name, Emily Stone. She had to change her name for the Screen Actors Guild (there was already an Emily Stone with a SAG card). In an interview this week, she was asked about her name again and if people should really call her Emily now and she said: “I’m fine either way. I really am. My real name is Emily, though.” I think it’s going to be tough for the industry to call her Emily, but her friends and people who know her well will call her Emily from now on. It’s rough because she really does look like an Emma, not an Emily.

That makeup makes her look like a clown

  2. Flamingo says:

I wonder if she went darker brown hair for a role. It does not suit her at all. She looks much better as a red head. She’s giving 2007 Lindsay Lohan face.

    • Polly says:

I would pay good money for her to get her hair closer to her natural color and texture and get out of this Yorgos phase, flat with a middle part yikes-fest.

  3. Libra says:

Love Margaret Qualley style sense. The white Chanel is perfect here. She can be either traditional or quirky.

  4. Aeren says:

Emma and Margaret are good friends with Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn is also in this movie. I can’t imagine the gossip going on over there.

  5. lucy2 says:

It does have long sleeves, but it’s basically a net, not a dress, so probably fine for a heat wave?
    Kirsten and Jesse look great.

I don’t know if I liked Poor Things, but I sure have thought about it a lot after seeing it, and the production design was fabulous.

Her longstanding collaboration with LV has been the bane of my existence because 9 times out of 10 she deserves better than what she’s been given/chosen to wear. I would like to see her try a collab with Versace or Valentino. Anne Hathaway has never been more stylish since she got tight with Donatella Versace.

  7. Sarah says:

Yeah I hate Emma’s dress. I first saw her in SuperBad. Yeah Emily probably isn’t going to catch on soon. Julia Roberts is actually Julie Roberts. Margaret Qualley’s dress isn’t good either. Kirsten Dunst’s dress is pretty good. I didn’t see Kirsten Dunst with a Jesse Plemons but they seem good together.
