People Magazine had a suspicious update about Angelina Jolie. Suspicious because there’s always a lot of sh-t happening behind the scenes these days, especially with all of the Chateau Miraval lawsuits and countersuits, nevermind Angelina and Brad Pitt’s long-running divorce dramas. The most recent headlines were about Shiloh dropping “Pitt” from her legal name, and Zahara and Vivienne doing the same in their private lives. With all of that personal and legal drama though, it’s easy to forget that Angelina is having a great year professionally. She just won a Tony Award as a producer on The Outsiders. She wrapped on Pablo Larrain’s Maria – a Maria Callas bio-pic – last year, and there are tons of rumors that Maria will premiere at the Venice Film Festival, and that Angelina will be part of an Oscar campaign. So… that’s what I think this People Mag piece is about:
Angelina Jolie is having quite the year. The Oscar-winning actress recently came off of an exciting night at the 2024 Tony Awards, where her new Broadway show The Outsiders nabbed best new musical, among other awards. The show is a family affair for Jolie, 49, who served as co-producer on the musical alongside her 15-year-old daughter Vivienne, who assisted on the production.
“Angie seems very happy and content with her life,” a source close to Jolie tells PEOPLE. “She’s focused on her kids and work. She’s involved in projects that she truly cares and feels passionate about.”
Adds the insider of Jolie (who also shares daughters Zahara, 19, and Shiloh, 18, plus sons Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, and Knox, 15, with ex Brad Pitt), “She’s very proud of her kids.”
I hope she is happy and content – after years of legal shenanigans, she seems to have a good team of lawyers helping her deal with all of Brad’s bullsh-t. Atelier Jolie is up and running, although I still think she should hire some managers and money people. And who knows, Maria could be a huge step in the Jolie-as-Actress renaissance. Her kids are getting older and she can travel more for work… come on, Angelina, take more acting gigs!
Angelina was also out with Knox over the weekend – he’s now taller than his mom.

You can’t keep a good person down. So proud of Angie, she never got into the mud with Brad the liar.
She must be so proud of the children.
Angie always has managers and money people. With the amount of litigation Brad has put her through and not paying child support, she would be bankrupt by now, if she didn’t have a financial planner.
You can see that she is genuinely happy. She’s just been glowing lately and she deserves to be happy. The Jolie Kids too.
I’m happy she’s doing well, but I do wish she’d eat more. Her thinness doesn’t look healthy to me. Is that a way some people deal with stress? By not eating much? Why can’t I have that problem? When my husband saw her present at the Tony’s, he said, ‘Is she going to break?’
Can we not do this? Do you really need to comment on her body in this way?

She’s always been thin, that’s just her body type. But also, she’s a cancer survivor and that takes its toll on the body. Most of the people I know that have been through it come out on the other side thinner. Either way, she doesn’t owe us an explanation.
It’s hard having to undo all the damage my mom’s generation has done to us regarding body types and weight. The nonstop commenting on bodies (and it’s only for women unless a man gained 300 lbs) is inappropriate. IMO it’s just another way we oppress women. Big boobs? What a slut! Thin? Omg eat a sandwich! Gained weight? Well she let herself go! And so on. It’s to the point where my sister and I used to have a secret drinking game when my mom said anything negative about a woman’s body (or a child’s body FFS!) at the table.
I’m not around my mom anymore but omg the concern trolling about my weight. The last time I saw her I had lost a bunch (stress related) and she just wouldn’t let it go. FFS lady ask how I am doing!
I’ve been guilty of it myself with Kate. There are plenty of things to focus on besides her weight! I’ve decided I’m just going to stop commenting on bodies period.
She never had cancer. She had her DNA tested and she carried a cancer causing gene (her mother died from the cancer caused by the gene) and she opted for double mastectomy and hysterotomy.

Thanks Joy I stand corrected. I guess the point I was making was she has had some health issues and you’re right not cancer, but surgery for that mutation and in fact several surgeries. Throw in Brad’s physical, financial, emotional, and legal abuse – omg I would be a shadow of myself. She’s a strong lady to deal with all of it. Happy to see her thriving.

When someone is so thin that they appear unhealthy, there is no shame in expressing concern. We know that Angelina at one point used heroin and was also a cutter. Both of those behaviors can be associated with an eating disorder. You are shamers~ comment shamers~ for calling out someone expressing a legitimate concern.

And she is having an amazing year professionally! I hope Maria come out soon. Bio pics aren’t usually my thing, but it sounds really interesting and I’ve always liked AJ as an actress for her depth of characters.
It is a Pablo Larrain movie, which makes me interested. His move about Jackie Kennedy was great and I also liked his movie about Princess Diana as a sort of horror piece.
Knox and Shiloh look so much alike! Also, dang those Jolie lip genes are strong lol. I’m so happy for Angie. She seems like she’s doing really well and her kids seem super well adjusted and like they have the best relationship with her. I’m sure they are all super protective of their mom, but I love that they aren’t protecting “fragile, broken” Angie, but instead getting to participate in all the really cool stuff she’s doing! On that note, I don’t know why but I’d love to see Angie throw on her aviator glasses and take some of the kids up while she pilots : )
This is smart for her team to hype the “year of Angelina!”. As a plus, she shouldn’t have to worry about avoiding her ex on red carpets this season if she goes for awards ( and I hope she does!).
I too am team Angelina: go bees!!!!! Her evolution as a person is testimony that we choose who we want to be. I think she is a remarkable person, and another person(s) like the Sussexes who go about trying to do good for others. Her kids are a tribute to her. I’m just going to say, though, that the dress that wore her to the Tony awards looked like there was bad stage direction and one of the older curtains fell on her in disarray.

Every time I see Angie articles, I’m just delighted her kids are still holding her hand. One of my kids, who is now 8, just spontaneously grabbed my hand on a walk today and I spent the whole time not being able to pay attention to what he was saying because I was drinking in the feeling of his little hand in mine. Kids are truth tellers and hers seem to say she’s a solid and safe place for them, which is all you could hope to be for your own kids. I wish her well.
