Scarlett Johansson wore a custom Prada to the NYC ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ premiere

I’ve always wondered why Scarlett Johansson rarely does “lighter” movies, comedies or romances or both. While I don’t think ScarJo has the range to be a Japanese tree, she’s a perfectly capable actress and she seems like a natural fit for a sexy comedy or a well-written rom-com. Maybe she’s saying no to those scripts or maybe those scripts no longer exist (a little bit of both, probably). In any case, Fly Me to the Moon feels like the first time Scarlett has ever done this – play a straight romantic lead in a fun, light movie. She plays a marketing executive in the 1960s who gets hired by NASA to build support for NASA’s Apollo missions. Her character falls for Channing Tatum’s NASA official. Channing could have chemistry with a barge. So… this looks cute.

These photos are from the New York premiere last night. Channing attended solo, I didn’t see any photos of his fiancee Zoe Kravitz. Scarlett posed on the carpet with Channing and with her husband Colin Jost. I knew Scarlett’s ensemble was Prada just from the boob-darts. While the two-piece look is better in close-up, this is so unbelievably bland on Scarlett. It’s custom too, she really wanted to look like this! While it’s not actively bad, it could have been so much better.

Do you think Scarlett ever looks at Colin Jost and remembers the era where she was married to the French guy who didn’t wear socks? Remember how they opened a gourmet popcorn shop?

I can see the period retro vibe Scarlett’s team was going for, but it reads “bedazzled picnic”. I think it’s the color combination on that dress I dislike the most. I think even the pattern could work in a better color than blah+beige.

Charming Potato’s shirt does not go well with that suit but otherwise, he looks good.

It fits her like a glove but my god what an ugly fabric. It looks like a plastic picnic tablecloth.

Colin’s hair is looking like French ex-husbands hair looked at one point. That’s not the best I’ve seen him look. 😬

I think those Woody Allen films she did were light rom-com

Such a good point! I haven’t seen a WA movie for years (for obvious reasons), but to my memory they didn’t require much of a range from actors. The characters and delivery have the same style in all of his movies, just in different setting/locations. I’m open to differring opinions, though.

    Just looks refreshed.

Oops. My comment ended up in the wrong place.

For a second I thought this was the premiere of her directorial debut. When does that come out?

I actually love Colin and Scarjo together. But when I see them in pictures I’m always reminded of Marcelo’s tiny kings sketch where clin says he’s 6 foot. She’s tiny so no way he’s 6 feet tall

I’ll say it: this is an AWFUL look on her. It does NOTHING for her, it is so bland and..vanilla. I expect better from her.

She was originally supposed to do this with Chris Evans. 😭 I don’t think she and Channing have chemistry but she and Chris do for days. (Cap and Black Widow forever. 😆) Promo for this would’ve been great

Every time I see something for this I think what a good fit that would’ve been. 😞 They were possibly going to do little shop of horror but that was gutted by Covid then she had to drop out of ghosted and he had to drop out of this. Maybe someday.

That’s a huge bummer, she does have acres of chemistry with Chris Evans. I’m going to see this no matter what, but that could have been great.
