Queen Camilla’s birthday is coming up next week – she’ll be 77 years old on July 17th. She’s a Cancer, the same as Princess Diana and Prince William. Like many older folks, Camilla is obsessed with weather-watching. All of the seniors I know love the Weather Channel and they can watch it all day. There are also so many weather apps and ways to track the weather online (I’m a big fan of weather.com and I honestly check it multiple times a day). Well, apparently Camilla has several weather apps and she checks them constantly.
The Queen gets teased about her “obsession” with weather apps, a children’s writer has revealed. Francesca Simon, the bestselling Horrid Henry series author, attended a charity event with Queen Camilla during a downpour on Tuesday, when the pair discussed the miserable July weather.
The event, to mark the National Literacy Trust’s 30th anniversary, was originally to take place in the gardens of Clarence House but was rearranged for inside the building after the day turned wet in London.
Simon revealed that she shared a joke with the Queen about their climate app habits during the event, saying: “We were laughing about our mutual love of weather apps. She mentioned it was raining in France, where I’m meant to be today, and I said, ‘Yeah, I know’. She said everybody teases her, because I’m also looking at weather in various parts of the world, and she’s the same – so we were laughing at our mutual obsession.”
[From The Telegraph]
I’ll criticize Camilla for a lot of things, but this is a cute story to me. I always like these regular-person stories about her – I remember Camilla giving interviews for her 75th birthday and she talked about how she plays online word games with her granddaughters and texts her grandkids almost every day. The idea that Camilla is always on her phone, playing Words With Friends and constantly checking her weather apps is just a humanizing narrative.

These stories also give her an upper hand against Charles who seemingly is not as close to all his grandchildren – even the ones on his own doorstep.
How this creature rose to the top would make such a great and frightening fairy tale.
Grim, indeed 👹
Exactly; no matter what they say about her, she is a despicable person with no redeeming qualities! She is destructive (which she achieved with Charles’ participation of course)
My favorite is Wunderground, it connects you with neighborhood weather stations. …I wonder if she looks at Montecito and gets jelly? 😆😎
Same here! I check Wunderground first thing in the morning to see where the air pressure is (I’m very sensitive to air pressure for some reason), pollen count, UV levels etc and I live by their 10-day forecast…
I’m also obsessed with clocks as I get older – the Oregon Scientific type things with huge lettering so I can see the damn thing, day/date, indoor/outdoor temperature/humidity…I don’t know why but with the complicated multi-data readout I feel like I’m piloting the space shuttle lol
@Lady Esther, brilliant! 😂 You go girl 💪🏻
But is the story true, or even really about her? If it’s printed in the British media I don’t believe it.
The queen to me will always be queen Elizabeth. Charles can’t talk much about his grandchildren he probably spends little time with the eldest three and never sees the youngest two
Lol, I’ll give her a pass on this. My dad is the same way – he thinks he’s a meteorologist and loves to stare at the radar app. Maybe it’s a generational thing. My dad also thinks he’s a traffic expert because he has google maps.
A few days ago I realized I only use my phone for texting and weather apps. I’ll just go sit on the porch in my rocking chair and await my demise, whilst yelling at kids to get off my lawn.
My mother loves the weather channel. My brother is in Florida and I travel a lot so she’s always on her apps and the weather channel. A hurricane approaches Florida (and by approach I mean a thousand mile radius) she really pays attention. I think it’s an age thing lol. Though I myself love the WTForecast app
