Us Weekly: Gwen Stefani ‘was the one who ignited Blake’s religious beliefs’

Blake Shelton & Gwen Stefani have been together for eight years, and their third wedding anniversary happened last week. Which is the focus of Us Weekly’s cover story this week. Gwen and Blake are very happy, you see. There’s no drama, just love. Which I believe, although I think there was probably some drama along the way. Everyone thought Gwen and Blake would be a quick rebound relationship for both – instead, they found a real love match. Not only that, but Blake enthusiastically embraces the role of stepfather to Gwen’s three kids, much to the irritation of Gavin Rossdale. Us Weekly’s cover story is a real lovefest but I enjoyed it! Some highlights:

The family went to Italy for Blake’s birthday: It was a birthday to remember for Blake Shelton. In mid-June, the country star — who turned 48 on June 18 — and wife Gwen Stefani traveled to Italy with Stefani’s three sons for a family vacation. In typical tourist fashion, they did some sightseeing at the Vatican Museum, checked out the famed Trevi Fountain and had lunch in San Marco Square. During an afternoon gondola ride in Venice, Shelton and Stefani, 54, sipped from champagne glasses and exchanged a sweet kiss. “They did a lot of shopping and dined at the finest restaurants, but they also relaxed and ordered room service and watched TV,” a source exclusively shares in the latest issue of Us Weekly. “They all had a blast.”

Their marriage: “Gwen and Blake are doing amazing,” adds the second source. “They’re more in love than ever.” Few saw the unlikely romance coming. “They are the quintessential opposites-attract type of couple,” says a third source, noting that Shelton and the No Doubt frontwoman “complement each other in the best ways. People around them didn’t understand the pairing at first,” adds the source, “but now they see how strong the love is [between them].”

Their divorces: “Gwen and Blake both went through dark divorces,” says the third source. “It was a hard time for them. Their connection was the light at the end of the tunnel.” Shelton has credited Stefani with saving his life. “It was like literally falling off a cliff,” he recalled, “and a hand reached out and caught me.”

How Blake proposed to Gwen: They were together for six years before the “God’s Country” singer popped the question in a custom-made chapel he’d built for Stefani on his 1,300-acre Ten Point Ranch in Oklahoma in 2020. “One of the main reasons they waited to get engaged was because Blake wanted to finish building the chapel for Gwen on his property,” says the first source. “He felt it would be really special to propose there.”

They disagree sometimes: When disagreements arise, the first source says the pair don’t take digs at each other: “They talk things through until they come to a resolution that works for the both of them.” Adds the fourth source: “They still butt heads sometimes about work-life balance, but always work it out. They’ve gotten closer by tackling challenges together and supporting each other’s dreams.”

Stepdad Blake: The first source says that while Stefani’s sons are close with Rossdale, they’ve come to see Shelton “as a father figure as well,” adding, “Blake loves them so much.” Stefani’s thrilled to see how close they’ve gotten. “Gwen’s sons are her whole world,” continues the first source. “If Blake hadn’t accepted them with his entire [soul], that would’ve been a deal breaker. It melts her heart to see him with the boys. Their family has blended perfectly.”

Life in Oklahoma: Shelton has opened their eyes to the joys of country living. “The boys have been able to experience things in Oklahoma that they’ve never really done in L.A., like campfire cooking, farming, planting trees and shooting off fireworks,” says the first source, noting that Shelton enjoys hosting gatherings at the ranch and the couple’s house on Lake Texoma. According to the third source, “When Gwen’s not working in L.A., they’re in Oklahoma. She prefers it to the fast-paced Hollywood lifestyle.” Shelton also introduced country music to the kids.

Gwen made Blake more religious: Their shared faith is also important to them. Stefani — a devout Catholic — “was the one who ignited Blake’s religious beliefs,” says the third source. “They go to church with the kids and hold the same values. It’s a priority for them.”

[From Us Weekly]

Yeah, I believe all of this. I don’t think this is happy horses-t being spun to hide some awful story. Blake has telegraphed and said outright that Gwen is the one and that she and the kids are his whole world. I think the religious stuff is interesting too, because Gwen really is super-Catholic, go-to-church-every-Sunday religious. Blake really wasn’t like that at all before he met Gwen, but I think he really likes that Gwen is surprisingly “old-fashioned,” if that makes sense. She’s not a tradwife, but she IS traditional and privately conservative.

So they are trumpers? Despicable. This site seems obsessed with them and I don’t know why. They are part off the problem. BIG ICK

    • Hollz says:

      Um, couple things:

      1. This is the first story on them in months so I don’t know where you get the idea this site is obsessed with them.
      2. Religious does not mean Trump Supporter (though he certainly does have the majority of the religious vote, that does not mean all religious people support him)

    • K says:

Are they pro Trump??? Where does it say that?

    • Gennessee says:

Hold on. Conservative doesn’t automatically mean Trumper.

I’m a religious conservative as well when it comes to my personal life, but I’m more of a “live and let live” type of person with everyone else. Politically, I’m a Democrat who leans center-left. I support LGBTQ+, support immigration, and am a feminist. I also love Capitalism but do not believe in “trickle-down economics.” I am also not against hunting or fishing for food or population control of deer or wild boars.

I am a bit of a unicorn. My kind does exist. lol

    • Grant says:

For reference — my mom was raised Pentecostal Christian and still loves the Lord (her words, I’m agnostic) but she is a die-hard progressive, LGBTQ+ activist, and feminist. Despite what modern-day evangelicals might try to argue, it’s very easy to follow the teachings of Jesus and be a liberal/progressive.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

They’ve posed for photos wearing their green camouflage military cosplay outfits, so yeah, my bet is they are MAGAs.

      • Fortuona says:

They live on what is Blakes Hunting cabin

      • Mrs.Krabapple says:

Real hunters wear orange (I know because I have family who hunt, for subsistence not trophy). But the military cosplay is a rightwing/NRA/fascist fantasy, makes them “tough” and “‘Murican”

Of course, they have to pander to the country music crowd, and it’s possible that is all an affectation just for show. Country music fans are dominated by conservative, Christian, flag-waving, gun-toting, pickup truck drivers which really translates to “white culture.” I admit I could be judging them on their pandering and not on what they are really like in private. I don’t know them personally so of course I could be wrong.

    • Houli says:

Oh good grief. A quick google search and you’d know that isn’t true. Gwen donated to Barack Obama and has continued to donate to Democrats in local and national elections.

  2. C. Tolentino says:

No she is a Democrat and a strong supporter of LGBTQ rights!! He may be a Trumpster he never spoke of politics. She, may have changed him I sure hope so!!!

  3. Mslove says:

Oklahoma is not good place to be right now. Project 2025 is already being implemented. Oklahoma state superintendent has chosen the main co-author of “project 2025” to draft social studies curriculum for public schools here, and that’s terrifying. The joys of country living indeed.

    • Gennessee says:

I guarantee you those boys are going to a private school in California. They are NOT attending Oklahoma public schools.

But yes, Oklahoma, as a state, is a sh*t-show.

      • Andrea says:

I doubt Gavin Rossdale, who is an atheist, would allow his sons to go to a school in Oklahoma. They are surely attending a school in LA.

      • Mslove says:

Of course Gwen isn’t sending her kids to ok public schools, lol. I was irked by the fact they prefer to spend their time in a state chock-full of magas.

      • Fortuona says:

That is where is family live inclcuding his also very, very Catholic sister (also married an Italian ) and where he grew up

  4. Rnot says:

People are hungry for meaning and hope and something to believe in. History goes in cycles. We’re long overdue for a fifth religious “Great Awakening” in this country. People are feeling a lot of existential dread and our political leaders aren’t providing a reassuring narrative so people turn to religious leaders to tell them that they’re good, it’s all going to be ok, and they can have faith in the future.

  5. Talia says:

People really needs to chill with the photoshop, they look like plastic dolls on the cover, not like real people!

    • Peanut Butter says:

Truly. They both look like they’ve been airbrushed to hell and back. If I were either of them, I’d be ticked off at People for making me look like a fake plastic figure that’s going to melt into toxic goo in the hot sun

  6. CruzMom says:

Can confirm you can be very Christian and very liberal. I grew up in the Lutheran church and went to church at least twice a week during my entire childhood. My church was the first place I learned about hate against the LGBTQ+ community, and that was because we marched in the 90’s in support of the LGBTQ+ community (and specifically against a group of people trying to gain political power under professed “family values” that my church considered decidedly un-Christian). Let me tell you that I was shocked as sh*t when I became an adult and found out that some Christians believed that being gay was anti-Christian.

  7. Ash says:

She’s so gorgeous, and seems like a sweet soul. Im glad they’re happy together. I wasn’t sure about Blake at first, but he’s grown on me.

But I don’t think they’re Trump supporters?! I have no idea where that idea comes from. Believe it or not, a lot of people who have somewhat conservative values hate Trump. I grew up religious, and no one in my family supports him. I know a lot of others in the same boat.
