It was in last week’s National Enquirer that we learned that Morgan Freeman is probably still dating/sleeping with/in a relationship with his step-granddaughter E’Dena Hines. The rumors of Morgan and E’Dena’s alleged decade-long affair began last summer, as Morgan and his second wife were going through a divorce. After the Enquirer ran two salacious stories about the relationship, the story began to die. Until last week, that is – when the Enquirer’s sources claimed that Morgan and E’Dena were contemplating starting a family.
Throughout the controversy, Morgan hasn’t released any public statements about the rumors. There have been no official or unofficial denials, no strategic leaks, nothing like that. But last night Morgan showed up to the National Board of Review’s awards ceremony with this woman – whom Michael K at Dlisted says (quoting Morgan’s spokesperson) is Morgan’s “manager-slash-companion”. Interesting…
Now, one of the Enquirer stories from last summer had Morgan and E’Dena in an “open relationship” – meaning that though they discussed getting married, they were both dating other people. So, I suppose it’s conceivable that Morgan is still with E’Dena, and he’s also dating this woman. Of course, it’s also possible that Morgan decided to push back on the rumors and show up to an event with a woman who he is not related to in any shape or form. Is this Morgan’s denial of the Enquirer’s reporting? I really don’t know.
One thing about his “manager,” and if IMDB.com is correct, this could be his publicist. He has two. One is named Stacey Perry, the other is Donna Lee. Whomever it is, she’ll be getting designer dresses thrown at her for the Globes and the Oscars…since she’ll have to convince everybody she’s Morgan Freeman’s “manager-slash-companion.” It is her job to help Morgan Freeman look like he’s not a creepy old man. His indiscretion with a member of his family is disgusting and it’s going to cost him an Oscar. Freeman still has to show his face in public and he’s going to have to appear repeatedly with his manager until the tawdry story goes away.
It is well known in Mississippi that he is indeed with his step-grandaughter. He can try to distance himself from the facts, but he is with her.
Maybe I’m being naive but maybe the NE is wrong. Just because they get 1 in every 1,000,000 stories right doesn’t mean they are right all of the time. Also not every rumor gets a denial even if false.
@Firestarter–People in his community must be outraged. He can try to cover it up in Ho-wood, but in a small Mississippi town, never!

It’s too late for this type of damage control; Your fans know the truth and we are outraged and disgusted.
Parading this woman on your arm and lying about your relationship is not going to fly with us.
The fact that the woman looks like she is sick to her stomach shows us that even she is disgusted to be part of your attempted spin and farce of a charade.

If people in Mississippi knew, why has no one snapped pictures of Morgan & the granddaughter together? If they are so outraged by his behavior, why not show him to be the perve they say he is.

Gossip or truth. it does seem to be an inappropriate relationship. it wasn’t issued a denial, it almost was used as a photo op. sick. sick sick sick.

Nobody really knows if the story is true. Morgan Freeman or E’Dena did not confirmed. if they really want this relationship they can tell the truth because since they are not blood relatives is not illegal.

As per unknown family information, Morgan and his step-granddaughter relationship going for the last 10 years. So, why the news came out very late after his divorce with Myrna? He had an open marriage with MYRNA since 2001. However it was never mentioned all this time until they start the divorce process. It has been also mentioned that MYRNA knew from the start about Morgan relationship with E’Dena. So, Why did MYRNA keep quiet for so long? Who will do that? She anyways had open marriage with him since 2001, what she cares for? Please people think!!
Maybe from the beginning MYRNA was unhappy to get divorce with him, of course which women would be happy to get divorce at the age 60 plus.
I think Morgan wouldn’t do such things, why would he do to create problem for himself? Morgan knows wouldn’t be any difficult to have young women at his age or to get married again. He has everything; he is the man who has access to the world. I think it’s just gossip. However Morgan will not marry E’Dena or have baby with her…… We shall WAIT and SEE!!!
Well, I think it’s not as creepy to be with one’s step-grandchild as it was when Woody Allen hooked up with his step-child. So there’s that. And also, not illegal. If it was an open marriage that the Freeman’s had, as WoN says, it wasn’t even immoral. Yep, I just can’t work up much interest in a 72 year old with a younger woman, as compared to um, Hugh Hefner. Who many of you were proclaiming your love for just a few minutes ago.

@WoN- Morgan has gotten a sense of the public outrage from the story coming out last Summer, so he is not going to confirm or deny, but MS is a state where even the larger cities are still like small towns, and like Sumodo said, you can cover up in big Hollywood, but not there, and it IS well known that he is with his step-grandaughter. FACT!
Did anyone see them sleeping together? or going to the hotel room? i think E’Dena live in Morgan Freeman’s house as she raised by him, what is the big deal if being seen together? I don’t see any problem if Morgan took E’Dena to the event? or hold her hand? think suppose E’Dena is a blood grandchild, Morgan will do the same.

He was on Charlie Rose last night and getting a lot of respect. The film is getting a lot of respect and, as he said, playing Mandela is an honor. If the tabs have been correct about his private life, then he is truly the teflon actor.

In hollywood people will be outcast for homophobic, racist or anti semetic slurs. But violence against women? Never.
This double standard is repulsive beyond words.

I’m a life-long Mississippian, who lives in the capital, and I have never heard of Morgan Freeman and his step-granddaughter being together. I hope and pray that it is not true, but it is not “common knowledge” as another poster suggested.

I really hope this isn’t true. after I saw Bruce Almighty I was really starting to think maybe God really did look/sound like Morgan Freedman! He always plays the good guy and has such a sweet voice. He’s ruining my religion! 🙁
