Page Six: Travis Kelce & Taylor Swift’s ‘engagement is happening soon’

Taylor Swift is still on her Eras Tour, making her way through Germany and Austria. Then she’ll swing back to London for what I can only assume are even more sold-out concerts. Then she has a break, starting on August 21. No more Eras concerts until November. A nearly three-month stretch where – I assume – she’ll be back in New York and Kansas City. Travis Kelce has already come back to America after spending a significant amount of time in Europe with her. The Chiefs’ training camp started last week or the week before. He’s back in football mode, and I assume Taylor will also be back in football mode. She really enjoyed being a football player’s girlfriend and she had a lot of fun at those games. So, Travis and Taylor have been together for a little over a year. Y’all think they’re getting engaged soon? It seems like we’ve exhausted this speculation for months, and yet…

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift will be engaged soon, sources tell Page Six. A Kelce insider told us the Kansas City Chiefs star has a plan in place to get on bended knee — and put an end to speculation about the couple’s future.

“The engagement is happening soon,” the insider said.

Meanwhile, Kelce’s rep denied Friday that there are any official engagement plans in place.

However, there has even been some speculation that the couple is already engaged.

On Thursday night at a Kansas City concert by country star Morgan Wallen, we hear that the wife of a top Chiefs exec was overheard telling pals in a suite that the team’s famed tight end and Swift are already engaged. It’s unclear if it was a slip of the tongue — or if the exec’s wife was simply echoing online scuttlebutt.

We reported back in December that Kelce was on the hunt for the perfect ring — and that he’d even asked Taylor’s dad, Scott, for permission before he pops the question.

Some Swifties yell at me whenever I say that I hope they get engaged and get married – “how dare you, don’t you know it’s anti-feminist to want to see a pop star marry some guy” – but I really do want it, and I honestly think Travis is in it to win it. He’s perfect for her, he’s more than willing to play the fame game, he’s not embarrassed to be seen with her, and he’s not a sickly, scowling British boy. This is the one you marry, Tay. And every time I say that, I second-guess myself because he really isn’t her type and I still say that Taylor sabotages herself romantically. So yeah… Travis will absolutely propose, if he hasn’t already. Will Taylor say yes? Has she already?

  1. I think they will get engaged but they will do it on their own timeline and no one else’s. They are both in their 30s and I think they both are ready to settle down. They are both very family oriented so I think that they may be a good match.

It appears to me that it’s part of Taylor’s brand to keep a will they/won’t they mystique about her relationships that keeps (generally positive) headlines going. And yet, she truly might want the marriage/kids thing and Travis seems like the right guy at the right time. She’s at the “right” age, but would it be too “settling” for her fandom. Neither an engagement nor a non-engagement/moving on would surprise.

The past few years Taylor has been incredibly prolific, pumping out album after album, breaking records and touring for 2 years straight.

Her fans should be cool with her taking a break. Whether that’s to get married, make babies and be a football wife, or just to rest.

    They are endgame.
    They are not engaged.
When they are, they will tell us.

She is at work. He is at work. They are focused. The end.

  4. Jais says:

Well if page 6 says so😂. I kinda hate engagement watches. But sure they’re cute and I hope they get married if they want to get married.

JA not wanting to be in the spotlight to ride or use her fame is not the same as embarrassment. Like, it doesn’t change my life but it’s weird that he remains being dragged by some for not wanting to be constantly in the spotlight as her man.

Anywho, AFAIC there’s still too much released to the press as well as lots of projecting about them being so great for each other with minimal firsthand evidence but to each his own. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    • Amando says:

Agreed, they just weren’t compatible in the end and that’s okay. Personally, I think JA dodged a bullet. If her lyrics are true, TS has cheated on several boyfriends. Good luck Travis.

I don’t think the engagement will happen this fall, they haven’t spend a ton of time home-based together and both seem careful about such big decisions. If they make it work over the next six months, I’d bet on an engagement early next offseason.

Do we think this is a misdirect to distract from the news that the Chiefs just extended the contract of a dude credibly accused of r-ping a 17yo in CA?

In our sometimes horrific world seemingly brimming with bigotry- watching their romance has given me happy feelings.
She finally bucked the country music overlords “nice girls don’t force their opinions on people” mandate in 2018 (sadly the bigoted Tennessee senator she spoke out against still won re-election that year).
He is a white nfl player who knelt for the anthem.
That is important stuff to me.

I hope it works out for them.

He has his mouth hanging open in so many photos… I can’t see her marrying him in a sincere authentic way. This whole thing just seems like her trying to save face after the Matty rejection. She doesn’t need to marry anyone. Be free girl. Somebody should😂

All I know is it seems like this relationship could save democracy in America so I can’t hate it❤️

Joe Alwyn is handsome, intelligent, creative and dignified. He inspired some of Taylor Swift’s best and most romantic songs IMO and they even collaborated on music. I think they had something very special, even though it ran its course. No need to put him down with “sickly” “scowling” – he’s pale but his health seems fine, and his dislike of paparazzi attention is understandable.
