Yesterday, TMZ reported exclusively that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are absolutely headed for divorce, but they haven’t hired lawyers and they’re trying to negotiate everything between their business managers, only Ben and Jen have stopped talking. Outlets like TMZ and Page Six have been making a meal out of the Bennifer split, because those outlets were rooting for a Bennifer split from the start. But I can’t blame the tabloids for it, because it just feels like Ben, in particular, wants out and he’s struggling to find a way to untangle himself with his image intact. Too late!

So, after TMZ’s story yesterday, there was a very quick pile-on from other outlets. My guess is that Page Six wants this to be dirty, while Ben and J.Lo are using Entertainment Tonight and People Mag as damage-control. Page Six claims that Jennifer is “furious” and “He has humiliated her. He was the one who initiated getting back together. He’s humiliated her because she made a big deal that he’s the love of her life. They just had two weddings two years ago. This is some kind of a record, they’re not young kids.” I absolutely agree that this marriage blowing up so quickly is a huge embarrassment for both of them, and that’s why they’re so slow in announcing anything. Meanwhile, J.Lo’s people clearly went to People Mag with this:

Jennifer Lopez is still enjoying a “good summer” as she looks forward to “what’s next.”

“Considering everything that’s going on, Jennifer is having a good summer. She’s been off and able to focus on what’s next,” a source exclusively tells PEOPLE. The insider explains that the Atlas star, 55, “hasn’t seen Ben [Affleck] for weeks,” adding that Lopez and her husband are “moving on separately” amid a strain in their marriage.

“Jennifer is trying to find a new home to start fresh,” says the source. “She always has [a] good attitude even when things are not perfect.”

Lopez has resumed the search for a home in L.A., following her extended stay in the Hamptons and a vacation in Europe before that. A source told PEOPLE she recently looked at a home in Beverly Hills that is “truly exceptional.” It’s an “ideal setting for those seeking seclusion,” the source said of the listing. Lopez has been quietly “looking on and off” for a new home, and toured another home in May and previously viewed properties that were not officially on the market.

Re: the new home search in LA… while Jennifer has maintained an LA base for decades, when she was with Alex Rodriguez, she was Miami-based. Jennifer basically “moved back” to LA permanently FOR Ben. And now she’s going to stick around. Hm. Meanwhile, here’s ET’s story:

Despite persistent rumors about their tumultuous relationship, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are taking their time before officially announcing their split. A source tells ET that the couple is “waiting to announce their official split, because they want to make sure everything is seamless when they do, especially with everyone involved. Neither of them want this process to be rushed. They are treating the separation with as much grace, understanding, and gentleness as they can.”

“They want to make sure the kids are comfortable with the transition and where they are living, etcetera,” ET’s source continued. “They don’t want to make it feel like they’re pulling the rug from underneath their children. They’re making a mutual effort to ensure that this transition is as healthy and easy as possible.”

Another source recently told ET that Affleck is feeling “hopeful” about the upcoming changes and his new home — which is closer to his ex, Jennifer Garner, to aid in co-parenting their three kids: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.

“Ben really likes his new home and feels hopeful about the change,” the source explained at the time. “It’s been a hard time for him, but he’s continuing to make his wellbeing and his family a priority.” ET’s latest source agrees, adding, “Ben wanted to be closer to his kids with his new home and wanted a new, fresh, personal space where he can focus on work and be in his most creative zone without any outside distractions.”

As for Lopez, ET’s source notes that she’s “also ready to move forward and is ready to close this chapter cordially. The timing of the transition made her birthday a bit more difficult, but with the support of her friends and family, she’s doing her best day by day,” the source adds.

They’re “waiting to announce their official split” – is that what’s really happening? Because they’ve been announcing their split for like three months now and they’ve created a huge drama around their marriage. Sigh… these two. Again, how embarrassing for both of them.
